I am a Registered Nurse (28 yr.) and have worked in the GI Lab for well over 15 years. Very frustrating for me to stand by and listen to an MD give wrong advice and medications to patients. I have come close to leaving the medical profession as I believe big pharma has taken over medical schools and research. I can not blame most MD's for the treatment they prescribe as we all have to study the curriculum we are given to pass and obtain our degree, even if that curriculum is based on fake science. I believe Statin and Proton Pump Inhibiting drugs are such a huge scam among many others. God Bless you and keep up the good work

I am glad you got a good doctor. When I had high cholesterol/bad triglyceride/bad cholesterol/low good cholesterol and borderline prediabetes; my doctor gave me statins and told me to cut the carbs/junk food/etc and go exercise my butt off. It really depends on the doctor and who they work for which will determine if a doctor cares or not. My doctor only gave me statins because I went to the Emergency Room a few times since I had heavy chest pain and high bp/ high systolic/dialostic. I am also overweight per my height standard. My doctor sent me to a nutritionist/dietician too. Not many decent doctors out there anymore.

When my Kaiser cardiologist asked me why I won’t take statins I told him that my LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels were already very low. He checked my lab report and agreed. Then I said “besides, I thought MI’s were caused by inflammation, not high cholesterol”. He looked startled for a second, and then said “yes, that is true, but there have been studies that may indicate that statins have anti-inflammatory properties as well”. I thought to myself, nice try doc, but I think I’ll take it from here and go with natural anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric, blueberries, etc. Conclusion: Do your own homework and verify everything that MD’s tell you. Big Pharma seems to have indeed compromised the medical profession.

Mark, I went through basically the same thing ALSO with a Kaiser doc. I had a MI 9 years ago at 36. I was determined to fix my body, especially because the meds were making me feel all screwed up: muscle craps even though I was hydrated, mental fogginess and a low libido. I told the doc what my intentions were. He laughed and told me that I would be on the meds for the rest of my life *RED FLAG. Everything I ever read before this happened told me that these issues could be fixed by diet and exercise. I researched and my research led to a book, "The 30 Day Heart Tune-up," which gave advice I followed to a 'T'. I saw changes in my body.
I tracked my BP and pulse rate for three months and gathered figurative bullets for my gun - articles, the book, anecdotal evidence, et. al., which I took with me to my next appointment. The cardiologist scoffed at what I had. ANOTHER RED FLAG RIGHT THERE. He basically berated the author of the book and told me that he didn't know what he was talking about DESPITE the fact that the author, also a cardiologist, is...AHEM...GET THIS... a F E L L O W with the American Heart Association.
Showed Mr. Cardiologist the excel spreadsheet of my BPs. He said, "Well, ok, you can stop that, but you have to continue the statin." N O P E . Like you, Mark, I continued my holistic outlook and haven't looked back.

Happened to me one time with a Gastroenterologist I was seeing off and on about about elevated Alkaline Phosphatase levels for 3 years and after numerous tests, no definite answer as to what was causing the elevation. At first, he told me that it was due to my gallbladder problems and would go away after I had my gallbladder removed which it didn't. Funny thing is that my PCP which was part of the same Hospital Medical Group, decided to refer me to another Physician Group in another city and apparently, he didn't like that and sent me the letter.

@@user-hn9qg5qm3o The evidence that it's fructose that raises triglycerides is weighty. It is virtually established fact. However, total and HDL cholesterol will rise on a diet heavy in saturated fats. That's not as bad a thing as some people, even doctors, think. The HDL:Triglycerides ratio is one good marker for cardiovascular disease. On a saturated fat heavy diet, HDL rises but triglycerides fall - this is cardio-protective and a good thing.
It's not the cholesterol in food per se that raises your serum cholesterol - well, not much anyway, because: 1. Your body only absorbs about 25% of cholesterol in food because it's actually metabolically expensive for the body to take up cholesterol since it has to convert it through esterification in order to transport it; & 2. Your body produces a lot more cholesterol than you could get from food! If your body absorbs a significant amount through food, it will reduce its own production correspondingly.
So, what increases serum cholesterol? Evidence, already significant, is increasing that it's primarily due to inflammation. Taking foods alone, the foods that are known to be highly inflammatory are primarily sugar and linoleic-rich (omega-6) seed oils - corn, soy, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower, etc. The oils that are good for lowering inflammation are omega-3 and saturated fats.
You need cholesterol and saturated fats to form cell membranes, though omega-3 oils are also involved, particularly in neurons.

Well if you do keto, the body burns the fat because it does not have glucose to burn. If you do not cut your carbs to 50 and below and you just add butter & animal fat like bacon, then you will increase your triglycerides if you are like me. I changed from light butter ( cut with canola oil) & cooking with just olive oil to using butter for all purposes and did not cut carbs much. My triglycerides went from 120 to 150. So be aware. Keto is the way to go or don't add the extra saturated animal fat.

When I was originally diagnosed as diabetic ten years ago my triglycerides were always measured as "abnormally high" which I think is higher than 500. It wasn't until a few years ago that I moved towards a higher protein/fat diet and dropped grains and bread (my diabetic diet said that I could have around 200 carb grams in a day) that my triglycerides dropped from 500+ to 120 in six months. I couldn't explain it but it has remained around 100 - 120. This video kind of explains how I inadvertently corrected my triglyceride problem. I'm not on Keto but more like halfway to it and still get positive results.

Doctors have listed this as a diagnosis code for over 10 years in my chart, but never could offer any advice other than "lose weight" and "eat less fat." My triglycerides are over 400. Same advice for that. I lost 65 pounds and my A1c barely budged and my lipid panel got worse. Exactly what they told me at the VA in 2007, almost 16 years to date. Eat very low fat, little protein and plenty of vegs/fruits so I did. 15 yrs and no matter how low fat or exercise I did, my Triglycerides and Cholesterol were always very high, even when on Lopid (or Gemfibrozil, which almost damaged my liver) or until recently, on high Fenofibrates (that did absolutely nothing for me). Their explanation 'well, that's just hereditary'. What a bunch of quacker doctors, smh. So, back in December 2022, I discovered Dr. Berry's YT channel while recovering from spine fusion surgery and, 100+ days into Carnivore and those conditions were quickly reversed and even dropped down 20+lbs, although I wasn't really obese, all without exercise as I am still recovering from spinal fusion surgery. My sleeping pattern has improved greatly and many of the other joint pains I had (supposedly from years of military service) have subsided now to almost zero. My recovery have been very fast according to my neurosurgeon. Amazing!

Dr. Berry, I just subscribed! Thank you for sharing your helpful knowledge. I am a 61-year-old, 5’ 6” short, retired Air Force veteran (24 yrs). Last Oct (2018), I weighed 168 lbs at my heaviest, with a waist of 34-not happy with that, but thought it was just my new normal that I had gradually morphed into since retirement in ‘08. I had high bad cholesterol, low good cholesterol, high triglycerides, extremely low B-12, etc. In Oct I learned that my daughter was getting married in 1 year=motivation! I determined to lose weight (with a goal of no more than 150lbs-good luck on that!) and improve my lab numbers. Since Oct, I have been on a healthy diet (lots of salads, salmon, skinless chicken, homemade tuna salads, lean red meats in lower quantities, etc.) and only the past 6 weeks started the Couch to 5K program with my wife. I did cut out all those things you mentioned, and my lab numbers improved significantly. Next labs are in mid-Nov, and I’m sure they’re gonna rock! Yesterday I weighed 145.7lbs (a recent low was 144.4lbs) with visceral fat of 1, and body fat of 15.5. I recently purchased a new three-piece Ralph Lauren suit for the wedding. Only the coat sleeve length, trouser leg length, and waist needed to be adjusted. The waist on this suit was 31-no way to get into that-yet. But it was drastically marked down, so I had to buy this one. So I requested the tailor to let the waist out to 32. The trousers are now perfect! Next, a new white shirt. I tried on several, but the regular was too bulky, the trim fit still had too much in the chest/belly, so I ended up with the slim fit! Never in my wildest dreams!! Everything you said was spot on, and I am loving this journey with my wife! No turning back, not just on the diet, but the whole lifestyle change!! Thank you again for being against-the-grain honest!!

About 6 weeks ago, after watching a bunch of your videos, I woke up one morning and said "I've had enough, I need to fix this" I stopped drinking soda, I switched to iced teat, I weened myself off of caffeine over a period of about a week, and I have only been drinking water, and occasionally some crystal light, I adopted a loose carnivore diet ( I love my veggies ) but I wasn't getting the results I wanted, so I switched to 100% carnivore, as of this afternoon, I am seeing my blood sugars in the 105 - 140 range, its still goes up in the morning when I first wake up, but its on average about 170, this is the lowest its been in years, my feet feel amazing, I have so much more energy, I dont feel drained all the time, I am still taking some of my meds, Glipizide, Lisinipril - HTZ, and a baby asprin, I stopped taking my Atorvastatin about 3 or 4 months ago. all I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Please keep doing what you war doing, you are changing lives, you changed mine.
    Leo

Thank you for your great videos Dr. Berry! I am a 66 yr old female who has T2 diabetes and have been eating keto and low carb, plus low calorie a few years. I did lose 20 lbs in the beginning, but hit a brick wall and the weight started coming back on. I figured I was on too few calories so I added back in some. My weight has stayed the basic same ever since then.
Then I got breast cancer and it spread to my bones. Since I thought I was dieing I dove back into the carbs. (I know that was dumb.) My blood sugars skyrocketed as expected. Low and behold a year later after chemo I am in remission and have ditched the carbs but for a rare treat. I'm looking into the meat only diet now. I can do that easily.
Thanks again Doc. I.m posting your videos on my FB group of older sick women who are as bad off as me. Many have fibromyalgia, thyroid, diabetes, allergies out the ears, you name it. I want to scream at one that had the widowmaker heart attack and open heart surgery and is on strict no fat SAD diet, with statins. ... Again God bless you, thanks. Bee in Texas

He said he wished he had someone here in Indy who would check the correct labs, like his insulin level. I told him my husband and I went to TN a few years back to have a doc there do them. He said , “was it Dr. Ken Berry?” Well yes it was. CZcams sensation! You’re teaching people of all ages all over the U.S. and beyond!!!! Keep it up!! Thank you!

In my case, I'm not overweight, I have a healthy diet, no alcohol, drinking mainly water but my Triglycerides went to 567 after having heavy corona symptoms for months and also going through a highly stressful phase in my life. After I started working on stress reduction, meditating and exercising more they fell down to 260 within 3 months. Also have been adding more Omega 3 to my diet more. I could feel when I had super high triglycerides, my heart was racing more often. Although, I'm still working on lowering them I feel already much better so hopefully next test will be even better.

Watching this as a PCP, thank you for getting this information out. When I tell people to cut out the sugar I watch as the ears go totally deaf and I can just watch the decision get made to not take that advice (lol). As you know, the problem isn’t necessarily the doctors or “big pharma”, many many people just want a pill to fix it all. So these people fuel “big pharma”. You rock, thanks!

I went over my cholesterol results with my primary dr yesterday. My total cholesterol is up from September, and my LDL is up, but so is my HDL.....annnnnnnd my triglycerides are DOWN and well within normal range. My dr is very supportive of whole foods diets, including keto, so she's very happy with my change to keto a year ago. I told her I learn alot from you and she was very interested to learn about you. Every time I comment on one of your videos, I have to thank you! You are helping me get healthier! You have encouraged me to keep looking for doctors who will listen, and now I have a whole team of doctors helping me figure out everything that's going on. And they all love everything I'm already doing. Thank you!

My cardiologist told me to get a new cardiologist because of about a year of seeing her, I told her I do NOT trust big pharma. She does trust big pharma so I no longer see her. If I were to eat an extra 1000 calories of simple carbs for 3 weeks, I would gain about 15 pounds. I know this for a fact. I have to eat a strict carnivore diet mostly OMD unless it is a weekend. I also have to be careful on how much I eat. Unfortunately, I can NOT eat as much as I would like. I gain weight very easily, even when very active and strict carnivore. I still can't figure out why. When I did take meds directly after my heart ❤️💙💜💖 attack, my TOTAL cholesterol lowered, but my HDL went below 45 and my triglycerides shot up because I thought grains and low fat was the way to go. I am very fortunate to find Doctors on CZcams that are as like minded, well read and well researched as Dr. Berry. Thanks Dr. Berry.
