hope you found your wallet!!
I did! I retraced my steps and it was laying down in the wood pile 😂😂
@PuddinsFabShop2 have you looked at fire stop caulk
Icon box…damn youtube pays.
Those darn Wood Chucks will take anything.😂
A subscriber sent me a 25% off my entire order at HF coupon. Maxed the credit card out quick, but got 25 % off 😂
I think a hand wash sink is valuable since the house is so far away , also an eye wash station
Concur!
I ran water to my shop last year. Man what a difference. Should have done it ten years ago.
I was a dumbass once I decided to remove a fuel rail without releasing the pressure and got shot in my eye with gas a eyewash station would have been lol I ran in the house and you wash my face in the bathroom sink
Safety First for you and your family especially when they want to work on projects in your workplace. Thank you for this and stay well.
Agreed, already has a parts washing station. He'll need a regular sink in the shop often.
You'd be surprised how convenient having a sink with water in it is useful in the garage
Yeah...He might have need to wash some stripper glitter off before going home to the little woman!
YOU would be surprised how inconvenient it is to put one in. You need water to the shop and sewer as well. Some places won't even allow that. Then you have to keep it from freezing when it gets cold. Ya, nice to have, but a lot of work and money.
I live in TN... Not as many below freezing days. I also live in Nashville where hooking up water is pretty simple. I can see your point though.
When I was having my house built we fired the contractor because he wouldn’t put a sink in the garage.
Also when I got a garage with a door opener I also was in awe of having it. Sometimes when I am tinkering in my garage I think “Man this is awesome” I remember many years of laying I. The dirt working on cars
Mr. Puddintang, I’m kinda diggin these behind the scenes, day to day type PFS videos. It’s cool to see what Ol’ Puddin’s doing when he ain’t puddifying rides. God bless you brother!
That sink is awesome, I’d hook it up it sure is nice to have some warm water on cold stiff hands sometimes
Or a splash on the face when it's 95 degrees.
Do you remember if there is already water out there at the new shop?
Much respect Puddin it takes a real man to admit an error. We all have had them. So far your ahead👍.
Puddin I don't care how bad you think your videos are I always think that they are great. I can't wait for them to come out every week and I can't wait to see the orileys add. Thanks again for the great videos.
👍👍 if it was me, I think I’d buy a regular parts washer and keep the sink a sink. Good call on the sign. You will probably be happy if you can keep your shop open and not have a post in the middle of it. Keep at it!
I really enjoy the second channel random videos. It just shows that you're a real guy just being yourself.
Keep doing what you’re doing, I look forward to every video.
Think safety. The puddin blue sink turn it into hand face washing station
Emergency eye wash and burn center with fire extinguisher on standby
Love the new shop
Just use rubber wall cove for the floor. You get 100+ feet in a roll and it would serve the same purpose plus be waterproof
Agreed. Or have a bunch of 26 guage sheet metal bent up to look like base trim with a slight kick at the bottom to follow the floor contour. Much easier to deal with , and way, way cheaper than using all of that good steel.
Hubby and I used the VINYL COVE MOLD!!! Comes in 4” and 6” standard! Hubby is CONTRACTOR,we used this in our Garage and Basement! Our wall colors were Tan with Black vinyl baseboards. Looked Sharp!!!
I dont know how well rubber is gonna hold up to hot metal slag long term, id more so suggest either tile cove or like corey said some sheet metal bent to coves.
Absolutely love these “wing n it” videos. Keep’em coming Puddin.
I have to give it to you buddy. How you ever get all you got going on done is amazing . I can't imagine how many times you have to set up the camera move and work in the cameras view, edit, load it up to youtube build a house and shop for content, pick up your supplies. Dealing with merch, raise a family and figure out what to talk about in your channel and so much more. All that hit me today watching pfs2. Great job.
When he says he works his tail off, he means it!
having a sink to wash up would be premium in the shop. you could add a parts washer tub into the sink location of the counter top setup.
For fire protection the cheapest would be cement board siding for homes OR Trowel some Drive-it or Tile or floor Compound on the plywood. Flex bond is what we used for basement tile and easy to use. 👍🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🇺🇸🔥
Love these “day in a life” videos! So much fun!
It is simple to copy a key just from a photo. I’d recommend swapping those locks out now!
I will use that sink as what it's used for to wash your hands at the end of the day or if you accidentally get some chemicals in your eyes you can wash it out because you could get part washers at harbor freight for a decent price because you're going getting a situation where you can't run to the house fast enough to wash your eyes out
@George I was saying in general
Regular or 2nd channel makes my day!! Thanks puddin for all the entertainment!! Keep up the awesome hard work!! Say hi to hotrod for us!!!
Caulk every single gap in your building. You want it sealed as best you can. The better you seal the walls the less bugs you will get and the better it will be if you ever install a mini split. And the commercial rubber base board works great for shops. It what they use in kitchens and stuff.
X2 on the cove molding. I think I mentioned this before, but you could consider using a fire-rated silicone caulk along the base. Silicone caulk is already fire resistant, but for welding BBs you might consider the higher rated caulk. Look for it in the fireplace / wood stove section of the big box stores.
And where the hell are the mice getting in from
Maybe a shop cat
Be careful the second channel is getting cool, the day in the life of Puddin is fun to watch 👍
The sink should be exactly that, a sink! You never know what may happen where you will need a hand/face washing sink. If you get something in your eyes that needs to be washed out immediately you would have a sink right there to do just that. 😊👍
@George He has had a small gas incident, and let me tell you getting gas in the eyes burns like 100 fire ants make you go scrambling for a sink.
It doesn't matter what you get done as long as you're having fun, I enjoy watching you regardless of what you're up to. Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family 👍✌️🇺🇲
@@IGDZILLA that's from Mortske
@@IGDZILLA Bugga!
I go along with a hand washing sink and a cheap Harbor Freight auto parts washer. Clean hands are sometimes essential.
There are some flame resistant paints and sprays, you could paint the bottom bit of those walls with some, if you were really worried about it.
I think you should use the sink as just a shop sink, if you have plumbing out there.
It is always fun watching you on your daily rounds, although at times you get a little cranky. you are making good progress on the new shop ( decisions, decisions ). and having fun all the while. 😎 💥
Make it the sign for your new shop !!! Turquoise, and tan neon, embossed lettering with a bead maker, dimple dyes around the border, artificial pateener applied, and then mounted up high on the outside of the new shop !!! So the new sign matches your current logo and all your merch. Always think big !!!!!!
I'm thinking you were thinking that old sign would been cool mounted high with Puddin's Fab Shop sprawled across it!
Thanks again for your Thursday installment of all the extra BSery!
Mr Hollywood complains about the weather.
Kiddin! Love how much everything has grown the last 3 years Puddin! Super happy for you and your family!
Turn that sign into a puddin’s fab shop sign for the new shop. Or set it up out there in your salvage yard.
PUD! Take your time. You are one step ahead in your motivation, one step behind in the situation. The steel at the floor is a concrete staining conflagration, the posts are a positioning miscalculation, and you will discover the the correct posituation. Etch the floor with vinegaration. Then use a polyurethathane sealant, (available under several different brand names at your local hardware store) to glue a synthetic (vinyl, polystyrene, PVC, cheap) base around the shop. Save your steel. Think of the overhead supports lengthwise and buy some cheap local lumber guy's stuff and put your posts where they work. Love you man. Andy
I'm with you on the rain! Spent my teens in the lower mainland of BC, and gladly living in the desert of Canada.
Take care from the southern interior of BC
Grumpy
I would use fire caulk to seal the base plate. It is intended to stop fire from running thru penetrations in walls and floors.
You.... Mr. Puddin.... definitely have the best t-shirts... not just the design.. but the actual shirt quality... A+ sir
I bought seconds of white metal shop exterior and cut it 4 ft. tall. I mounted it to the bottom of the walls and built a shelf with a 2X6 at the top for storage. Ended up working well and I can power wash the shop when needed.
Sink in the shop, get a metal trough (40 gallon) from tractor supply, put drain in the bottom. Great for washing your hands and cleaning large items. Would fit you rusty style of shop.
Hey Puddin 👋, no matter what, little accomplishment make life easier in the long run . Just always interesting to see what you have up you’re sleeve. Have a great weekend 👋
Someone mentioned cement board. That would be good on the base of the walls. Make sure you have several fire extinguishers hanging around the shop. Put the car wash sign up and hire some young ladies to run a topless car wash.
one key in each vehicle! Id hook the sink up as a sink, most shops Ive ever worked in had a regular sink if for nothing else washing hands but you could add a spray hose in case of chemical splashes to the face
On the parts washer. I bought a HEATED parts washer, and I use Zep Industrial Degreaser in it. When I use the heat function, the ability to clean parts doubles. Build a heated parts washer!
Can't wait to see that shop all put together congrats puddin!
Can't wait to see the shop all finished!
Word of security advise. Don't show pictures of your keys, with simple free software and a 3d printer a copy of that key can be made in minutes. Love the content, and appreciate your hard work.
Thanks for the update.
After living in the rainy Pacific Northwest for 50 years, I agree with you about the rain!
Blahaha that butter bean reference and clip was perfect!!
For your spark resistant baseboards we ran mortar for bricks about 1\4 inch thick with chicken wire just screwed to the wall for about 8 inches tall and then we just put sheet metal as wainscoat right over the top
I nearly made the same mistake 25 years ago, I was going to buy the front road sign form a drive In movie theater that I "worked" at when I was eleven years old. It was glorious. I would clean the parking lot and help put up the marquis signs for "now showing". Just a hint of when it was, I put up the sign "purple rain".
You should make a outdoor car wash and parts wash station at the new shop and hang the sign over it. Great content. R.I.P CAR WASH SIGN sometimes we all buy something we don't really need that's what makes life fun and intresting..Short Term Happiness lol .Have a great weekend. Mini Truckin Forever
I was watching where VGG was doing an interview for them and what did I see in the background? Well it was puddins u-haul with the swing arm? 😂😂😂
Thanks for the laughs. Those signs always appear smaller than they are, when mounted up high.
I freaking died watching the lift get wired... all that and the cord was too short 😅😅 that's MY luck
The blue sink would definitely have a cool factor as a parts washer and make a fun project to watch
Dear Puddin.
👍👌👏 You achieved a lot in this video. Most of the time I'm not even able to make decisions. Congratulations for throwing the big, ugly sign on the scrap pile.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
My work installed 4x8 sheets of thin gauge polished aluminum diamond plate on the wall lowers.
I wish I had a sink in my shop so that’s my vote. So happy for you and getting the shop together. 👍
LMAO when he pulled into the scrap yard! Great $100 life lesson, your right there Puddin'
Keep the sink a sink, fresh water rinse is nice to have
🦅
Glad you got the ad done! Fun video!
“Why are you all staring down there” 😂 , just love puddin humor , ha ha
You could seal the bottom with fire caulk before you add your baseboard and another thing that will help with your wood wall finish is an Intumescent (fire retardant) paint.
If I were you, seeing how you light fires with the 'slice-n-dice' let alone a welder, line that lower section with cement board. Durock or Hardyboard.
It's moisture resistant, fire resistant; you could finish a number of ways. Its mostly used as backer for tile however, I first encountered it in a middle school with an acrylic texture finish. 12:03
RED fire stop, it comes in a tube like caulk, run a 3/8 bead on the floor and one on the wall, set the plate in the caulk then push it up against the wall and screw it, that way the plate is sitting in a bed of firestop and its pushing firestop in the gap protecting your sill plate, it wouldnt hurt to run a masons string along the floor next to the wall to see how much the floor fluxuates, you may need a little more here or there, I cought my garage on fire once, I was grinding on my vega and sparks were hitting the ceiling joists, I smelled wood burning and looked up to see my ceiling joist in full flame! I painted all my exposed wood surfaces with fire proof paint and was fine after that that was a scary sight, carry on brother
Not sure if you have a circular saw but a 7 1/4" diablo carbide steel demon is a beast for cutting metal, if ya got a 10 or 12" miter saw you can get the same blade based in the size.
Its not a metal cutoff miter saw blade but those blades on a regular old wood cutting saw will do wonders. Just throwing it out there. Also doesnt heat the metal up or shoot sparks.
Theres a video demo by Diablo of the damn blade cutting 1/2 way through a piece of railroad track
mop board works pretty well at the base of walls. I dont like open shelves or tables with clutter under them that sparks can hide. I try to get as much stuff stored in metal cabinets as possible.
Thanks Mr. Puddin'! I have enjoyed these 'behind the scenes' videos on the second channel!
Be nice to connect the sink to be able to wash up in the shop after work. Also be nice to have a bathroom in the shop.
Puddin, I believe that with you getting rid of the car wash sign. Is one of the best things I've seen you do yet in your videos. lol
Weld those post from your steal ceiling joists let it hang down to hold your floor joists for your storage area.
Use roof flashing. It will slide under wood and if a spark manages to get under it will keep sparks from smoldering. Easy to install...
One day when you're settled nicely into the new hope and shop, I would enjoy a monthly "pud-cast" just sitting and talking about whatever with your friends.
@George Taylor, slick, pops, mortise. He could have all kinds of folks on
@@Hard_Right i think it would be entertaining, but you may be right in that it wouldn't be worth his time
You know what pud is slang for right. 😂 this kinda sounds like you want him to get a fans only page.
As far as the sink goes, I would use it for you and your family to wash their hands in. :-)
As far as the door panels on the Datsun go. I believe they make extensions to make a door handle he needs to stick out further.
Keep up the good work
Thanks for the update on the commercial can’t wait to see it Mr. Hollywood lol
I was watching I think cleetus new video at lunch today and your old ad came on. I always sit a watch it every time and crack up, lol. Hope the new one is as good!
It was also fun to spot the Datsun King Delivery in the background of Episode 3 of O'Reilly's In the Aisle podcast!
Seeing the lift go up 🎉 I was cheering!
First off, love the videos regardless of which channel I'm watching. Always looking forward to new videos posting. Have a thought on the post in the door way. Could have the clear span in place and to help with load bearing could have a removable post in place. One bolt and it'll move out of the way. I know it's your shop and will do your own thing as always. Keep up the great work sir.
Puddin you sir I wanna thank you so much keepin me motivated working on my project due to mental health kicking my butt at times it's taken me so far 3 years to get it done but I think I'm finally close to firing it up 🎉🎉🎉
😂. Puddin great video today my friend. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab on. Weld on. Keep making. God bless.
To quote one of the other best channels on youtube, Cold War Motors. "A podium level performance in the waste-of-time Olympics"
I second Daniel Murray's comment - make that sink a regular water wash sink and eye wash station. You're welcome!
Parts washer sounds good to me. Love the look of those old cabinets.
An "I" beam over that span. Then one of those rolling chain lifts (a Mortske hoist) would be handy there.
I have grey roofing metal one the bottom 4 ft of my shop covering with a metal j channel top and bottom the bottom is siliconed to the floor the hips in the metal allow some airflow still
Hey Puddin...... I use Hardyboard .......people use it for backer board before you put tile down. They come 3x5 feet sheets..... I used it and it works well. My shop was all wood....including the floor.....so I covered the floor and up the walls 5 feet.....and it works well. I weld and grind...and 5 years later....no fore! And it=s waterproof....and you can paint it!!! And no I don't sell the stuff!!!!!!!!!
You should use cement board for protection instead of the metal. They also have fire board that is used in fireplace construction that's meant for the heat and embers both are the same type of material. Your gonna need the metal Mr. Fabrication.
If your worried about cetching fire put that thin aluminum star plating under your kicks on your cabinet doors .I think you can find it selfadhesing And 8 or 10" of thin metal at the bottom of the walls in your welding area.
They make a red fire caulk, I'd use that before silicone! BTW Love your heat to pieces so glad you can chase your dream like this!
I'd connect the sink to water and power to be able to wash up in the shop. Be nice to have a bathroom in the shop too, keep from tracing dust and grime into the new house. Never know but someone may want to spend the weekend in the shop but not become a house guest....
Pro tip, keypad lock. My shop and warehouse has one. Remember the code with a key backup. You never get locked out. As for fire prevention, I built a steel building with steel walls inside. Taking no chances.
Love some second channel action. The parts washer idea for the sink is 👌
Lookit dat face when that lift started up. A kid with a new toy! Right on!
I didn't see that coming but it's a "sign" you didn't need that headache with all the cars you need to finish this year! New Shop, New Sign will make you feel very fine! @Puddinsfabshop
Go to Harbor Freight and get a parts washer. Small price to pay to have immediate functionality! I've had one of theirs and it's going on 20 years old and still works great!
*_I would love to set up a hand wash/eye wash center! Add your 1st AID section there as well_*
You made the right choice with the sign Puddin. As for the pole in your workshop set 4 or 5 feet back and that give you room to move between the 2 areas and support the loft, just my 2 cents. Have a good one brother.
Definitely use that cabinet!! More fun reusing and recycling.
The cabinet is BeAuTiFuL too!
Concrete board for tile underlayment works great for the lower portion of the walls
Replace the bottom row of osb with sheetrock. Fire tape the joints and run a bead of fire caulk at the floor. Spark problem greatly reduced.
