- In this video I swap over a bunch of components on my Colnago Master piu. Campagnolo Record groupset, Ambrosio Wheels with Tune hubs, 3T bars, Cinelli stem.
Enjoy. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I just finished watching your re-build of this bike to Athena and have to say, I could go either way - this setup here looks awesome. But all silver does as well but that's the easy way to do it. This build with the carbon parts is a bit more daring, and it works too.
I'm now 70 and own a work of art. The frame is Serotta (1982) with Campagnolo, Dura Ace a Mavic crankset and a well-worn Brooks saddle. I wonder what will become of it when I pass. (has a really old Campi seat post - the most beautiful seat post ever!) I should probably sell it to someone who would appreciate it - rather than just die and let it fall into uncaring hands.
Nice bike! I like the neoretro concept. In fact, I‘ve built something similar, classic 1970s steel frame with modern wheels and silver components.
Yeh, I had a different Colnago a while back that I built up with Campag Athena and it looked retro, but was 11sp and rode beautifully
Beautiful bike! Those brakes are a piece of art!
Yeh, I love them, functional art. Thanks for watching!
I am thinking I need to add a steel Colnago to my stable... Subscribed!
Cheers 🙏
Good to hear you are on the right path switching the black components to silver on the Colnago. Black just doesn't work with blue anyway. It will definitely have some bling when you're done.
Forgot to mention, back in the day, the 80s, when black stems and bars kind of came into vogue, it was not uncommon to see all silver groupset with a black cockpit. I don't remember many black seat posts except for the carbon Campy seat posts of the early 90s. I think American Classic had one back then. I never did this personally until just recently. I used a black 3ttt stem and bar combo with 11-speed carbon Campy SR controllers and and rear derailleur with the rest being silver 11-speed Athena. It came out great and is the only black stemmed bike I own.
I only do white tape and saddle on my bikes so kudos. The black bits looked really good, and im presently doing that on a DeRosa nearlybthe same blue….new build looks great, but makes the black Crankset a bit of an eyesore on an otherwise great looking setup
Thanks for the comment John. Im starting to feel that way about the crankset too. might swap over to the 10sp group soon. Your DeRosa sounds great!
That bike came out with a black 3ttt Colnago stem and silver 3ttt handlebars.
Cool vid.
The same here. I got the grandis from 90-x on 8 speed record/chorus. Thinking that turning it to Modern group will be a distraction
nice vid! i feel very weird weather i like it or not
fair enough. aesthetics are a very personal thing. For me, the gumwalls and matching saddle/bartape with the downtube logo are what i love. It rides so smoothly and solidly. Loving it. Thanks for watching.
Black crankset is a distraction. You asked for comments, nothing personal. Cheers.
Yeh, I’m thinking the same the more I’m with the bike. Probably will change it when I have a 10 speed chain and cassette. Cheers for the comment
Does the Force AXS crank work well with the 11 speed Force drivetrain?
It did, but when I had it on the piu it was running 12 speed
Is is it for sale?
I hadn’t planned on selling it, but will consider offers. Send me an email at shop@biketailor.com
@@biketailor Probably way too high for me.
classic frame should have classic groupset
Haha, I knew I'd upset some people. Best part of a classic frame is how easy it is to work on and swap parts, so maybe ill start looking for a full Campagnolo C-Record groupset and swap it all over at some point. Thanks for watching.
The black looked terrible, sliver and alloy only on classic bikes
