Ever since I rode a Honda Goldwing for the first time, I've wanted to get on BMW's sport touring motorcycle, the K1600. It's lighter, more powerful, gets better gas mileage, and has a bigger fuel tank. But no one talks about it. Is it better than a Goldwing? I rode one to find out. Here is my First Ride on a 2018 BMW K1600 GTL.

I just found this video. I rode a 2013 K1600GTL for 8 years and loved very minute of it. My wife and I did a 2-4 week trip on it, plus weekend trips. The inline 6, its 160 hp, and the 130 pounds of torque made the bike very fast, very nimble, and very easy to start from a stop even when loaded down with passenger, gear, and on a hill. On the highway or interstate, with two up, loaded with gear for a 2+ week trip, it never felt like a large, heavy bike loaded down bike. More like what it must be like to fly an F-18. Steady, smooth, and when you needed it, a lot of power. Plus, with a bike with this amount of horsepower, it got very good gas mileage.
But, there is a learning curve with the bike. It is top heavy, particularly the passenger sitting even higher than the driver. All of which makes low speed handling more challenging. You need to spend time in a parking lot doing slow speed turns and figure eights to really begin to feel comfortable with it. But, once you acquire the skill, it becomes second nature and easy.
There are items that should be replaced. I put a large windscreen on it, taller and a little wider with a vent. Highway pegs, particularly if you are taller as I am. A rack on the top box. Plus, I would add a custom seat. My preference is Corbin. I have found them to be very comfortable. I could ride from where I live in SoCal to Hollister, CA, where the factory is located, and have a custom seat made for myself and my wife and make a weekend of it.. I’ve used CorbIn on all my prior bikes.
I only gave it up because of health issues (I have two different cancers, have been through heavy chemo and a stem cell transplant, and the neuropathy in my feet have cause a balance issue), otherwise I’d still be riding it (I just turned 74).
I have ridden my K1600 GTL for 52,000 miles. Earlier this year, I took two different rides on the new Wing DCT. The K1600 definitely has more power, much stronger in a top gear roll on then the Wing. Although the K is 50 pounds lighter then the new Wing, the Honda is far more nimble and easier to maneuver then the K1600. After riding the GW, I got back on my K1600, it felt considerably heavier, The Gold Wing is rock solid on the 4 lane, where the BMW tends to move a bit. According to nearly every owner of the 2018 GW, the fuel mileage is better then the K1600, but the BMW has a larger fuel tank giving it a little more miles before a fuel stop. I would say the BMW is the sportier of the two bike, but the Wing gives more of a relaxing experience. Some talk about high maintenance cost on the BMW, I have not found that to be true. In any of its forms, the K1600 is a great bike and I highly recommend it. With that being said, I have a new Gold Wing DCT on order for spring 2019. I gotta try them all...…….
Lawn Ranger:
I'm looking to pull the trigger on a new GTL soon. What's stopping me?
Reports of questionable reliability and even more troubling are reports of BMW being a
'disingenuous' in regards to honoring its warranty claims. Honda, on the other hand,
seems to have an excellent record of reliability as well as a more extensive dealer
network. For me, the machine more suited to my riding style and tastes is the GTL.
Therefore, I'm on the 'horns of a dilemma' as the saying goes.
I would appreciate your input on this, if you would.
john Hanrahan,....the problems most common with the K1600 have been water pumps and the handle bar
switches, which in some cases, bad switches would not let the bike run. These problems were in the early
K1600's up through probably 2015. Many K1600's had these two problems, including mine. They also had
ignition coil problems which were updated in 2014.There were so many, it gave the K1600 and early
reputation of unreliable. BMW replace my water pump and switches under warranty. I considered these minor problems as the bike has never let me down. The internet is a great place for information but it is also a
place for all the whiners that gripe about everything. I have owned 3-1800 Gold Wings. When I first started
following the GW forums, I was almost afraid to take the bike anyplace for fear it would breakdown, all
because of the negative remarks from other GW owners on the forum. I never had a problem with any of the 3 Wings, 2001, 2003, and 2012. The K1600 is a great bike and I dare to say, with the power and A+ handling,
more fun than the GW, you will love it.
@@lawnranger3432 A big thanks to you for your post! You've reaffirmed my conviction to order the bike and reaffirmed my faith that the Web isn't completely useless.
All in one swell foop! Thanks again and maybe I'll see ya at one of the festivities.
there is only a small step from goldwing to motorhome
@@TheKamar2...obviously you have not ridden the new Wing.
That engine tone would never get old!
I love it when you do these demo/review videos.
I've had a 2006 Honda ST1300 since new in 2006. I love it. Love the range. Love the handling... similar to my 1998 VFR800. But I have been longing for the touring upgrade, like heated seat, heated grips, cruise control, nav... but retain the sport feel of the ST. Honda, in their wisdom, decided to to downgrade the Goldwing to fit it in as an upgraded ST. Didn't work. They not only lost storage capacity from the old GW, better in total when equipped with the Honda top box (curiously only available from the European market), but they sacrificed fuel capacity from 7.7 gallons on the ST to 5.5 gallons on the new GW. The last straw for me was a video posted in the Austin press release from early 2018 where EVERYONE rode the same bikes on the same routes with, seemingly, the same cameraman. Only ONE of those journalists had the audacity and the honesty to show what happens when the new GW was ridden aggressively into a turn. Over an over and over, the rider scraped underparts on fairly nonaggressive turns. That was the "no brainer" moment that sealed the deal from me on the BMW1600GTL. I bought the BMW in April 2018 and have loved every minute of it. It may be "long in the tooth," but if Grandpa is still eating steak and corn on the cob, he's a happy camper!
I have a 2008 GL1800 Goldwing and have taken very long trips on it 2-up with my wife. It is a great touring bike! We test rode the BMW K1600 and I liked the bike except for poor low speed stability (for example; navigating slowly through parking lots it was unstable and hard to hold safely upright 2-up) and my wife didn't like her seat as much as the Goldwing. I also didn't like the rear side box construction (very thin material and the cable stops were flimsy. The engine was very powerful! Summary; I'll stay with the Goldwing.
You didn't mention a lot of important things like you can lower it, get a lower sit, foot rest, back rest, and much more. It is true that those things are extras and a little expensive but if you like long rides, you can make it a very comfortable bike
Just last week I test rode K1600GTL and a Honda Goldwing DCT right afterwards. Took the same test ride for both bikes. I am 6'4" and the K1600 definitely fit me much better. I own a 2009 Ultra Classic which I am keeping. I am looking for a sport/touring machine. I have been researching the Goldwing and the Beemer but until the other day, never rode a K1600. The fit, the feel, much better storage, more fuel capacity, and just plain freakin fun to ride won me to the beemer. I am looking forward to getting one in the near future!
I would say this is a pretty good review. I bought this bike last year. Its very powerful and very fun in the mountains. However, when you get on the highway, its not as stable as you would think and tends to drift a little bit which means you'll have to pay attention. Raw power on this bike is incredible and I do like the sportier seating. Ideally, I'd like to have both this bike and the wing. I believe the GW is better suited for highway and the BMW is better suited for everywhere else. The bikes excel in different environments.
I have the GT it's a lil bit more sporty of a ride. Yet comfortable enough for touring. Love the review.
Im 29 years old and never been a motorcycle guy but i had to get a moped when I lost my car and i never knew how two wheels feel and now i got the bug lol its crazy that a 50cc moped started it and i cant wait to be able to get some real speed anyhow love your vids man especially the ruckus i love the oddball bikes keep it up
I've been a die hard Honda customer my entire 35 years riding, that being said, I own a K1600GT and nothing else compares, the wing is a Cadillac Escalade and the K1600 is a Porsche Cayenne.
@Scooteria Veloce I'm a software engineer, so you can't scare someone like me with the "computer on 2 wheels" argument. I love my K1600GT and I knew I wasn't buying into a "cheap" bike. I don't buy "cheap" laptops either. That said, I think the new GW is great also, and it also isn't "cheap". I will probably own BOTH one of these days when I decide to sell my FJR. My wife only allows me to own two bikes and two sports cars at a time. The problem is, I also like the new R1250 GSA (another computer on wheels). So many nice machines (thanks to great tech advances, I might add). \'-)
@Scooteria Veloce Where did you get this information "All BMW bikes are prone to oil leaks after 2 to 3 years of riding and they all have electrical glitches"? Have you ever owned a BMW motorcycle?
Dennis Karnes What does that even supposed to mean?
@Scooteria Veloce Scooter MotoVlogs but it has a quick shifter dude
What about High Speed Stability? Mine worries me when I crank on it on the highway.
Dude. You’re a great rider. I saw it right away on the GTL video.
love your videos man. keep it up dude
Each to his own. The cost of ownership is definitely higher on the BMW. I’m amazed every time I get on my Goldwing how it handles for such a large bike and it’s much easier to drive then my Boulevard. It has more then enough get up and go even with two up. My wife likes riding on the GW too.
Great review. I'd like a comparison of seat comfort (long riding 8 hrs+) older goldwing vs 2018 vs K1600.
So true Dennis!!! nothing compares to the RT or K models, they're the way they ment to be, lighter, faster, super tech, low consumption, and so on. I own an 1200RT cause is light compared to the advantages it has. Love it
Nice Gold Wing review! 🤪
Just found this video. I enjoyed your thoughts you are good to listen to. Best From Ireland !
Love the look. BMW takes a different approach to motorcycle aesthetics which is truly unique. What this bike’s needs though is backlit handlebar switches for night riding and a TFT screen. The analogue gauges are dated. Agree on the new generation Gold Wing too. In Sport mode the Gold Wing’s 122 HP at low RPM is a trip. Whack that throttle it’s a beast. You need to revisit that bike.
that dog was adorable. Great review!
I owned a 2012 K1600GTL, and found that the center of gravity with a passenger was a big issue. Riding solo was not so bad.The luggage is mounted high up, as is the pillion. I felt unsteady at stops and lower speeds with a passenger. The performance was astounding, as was the fuel economy and range. I traded it in though for the K1600B which gives me the performance without the top heaviness. For two-up riding I have the new Yamaha Venture which I just added a trailer hitch to.
The new Gold Wing is great, but I didn't like the smaller seat, smaller tank and reduced cargo. Every bike has it's strong and weak points. Which is why I settled on 2 bikes!
Have you brought K1600B up to speed? My neighbor bought one and said its a great bike except for the highway. Says it feels unstable at speed.
I bought a GTL in December and just got to riding it. Sure enough, crosswinds are definitely "concerning" on the highway and doing a high speed run, say, around 100 or over, and it feels "twitchy". Twitchy to the point that I don't think I'd even try to go over a buck.
My V-Strom (2004) would go maybe 120 and while ya gotta "pay attention", it was 'doable'.
The Beemer makes me feel less confident than it should. Very disappointing. Maybe a tire change is in order(?). On the other hand, day-to-day riding, state highways and backroads is great, ultimately 'flickible', amazingly so for a big tourer.
Any comments about the experiences yo have with your bike would be appreciated.
Make wallpapers of ur bikes for our screen savers please
That's funny!!! I remember when I accidentally hit the language select button on the atm machine!! Caught hell trying to get my card back!! LOL
If you put the DCT Goldwing in sport mode it is a beast. Most people who ride it that hard, though, will want a better suspension. The suspension is nice for cruising.
Maybe you should look at the evaluation of the Goldwing and the GTL actually on a track the Goldwing was more than a minute slower with the same driver
Love the K1600. I went shopping at the beginning of the year for a bike to get back into riding. I found a K1600 and it reminded me so much of the CBX I used to ride. I ended up with an R1200RT (price, pure and simple) and it is a great ride. I'll have a K1600 some day, but first I have to clean out the garage a bit to have room to park it beside the RT.
Clifford J. Summers Sr. I have a 2014 RT and it’s the best bike I’ve ever had. And I had a lot. Nothing bad can be said about the RT. Hits all the buttons as far as I’m concerned. Mine is parked next to my 2015 K1300S Motorsport. One two punch is awesome. After retirement in 10 yrs I want a CVO Road Glide to round out the stable.
Inline sixes are Supreme. I had two CBXs, a silver 81 and the pearl white 82, in the day I had both at the same time.
BMW should have produced a svelte pure sport version similar to the CBX super sport, that would have been impressive.
that camera view is good bro
I like the way you ride. And the review was great. I understand the top case on the new Honda can’t handle 2 full face helmets. That’s a negative for me.
The only area where Honda even has a chance of getting ahead of BMW's K16 is entirely due to the DCT and it's very simple shifting system.
I ride a K16 GT, it's amazing. 680 pounds (after i've made a few modifications) fully fueled. I average 250-260 miles at refuel which I do just before the reserve comes up. Reserve leaves me with another 40 miles approximately.
Are you reviewing the goldwing or the k1600? Like reviewing a fine Porsche, and keep mentioning VW beetle.
Man! Great review! If you could test the new Honda CB1000R, that would be amazing!!
Have a shot every time he says Goldwing. Party!
+ point for the k1600 is you can cruise to the B500 in the Black Forest then open it up a race through those glorious back road bends. Touring in Europe is about getting to the mountain passes and then having fun.
You should try out the new BMW R1250RT, it carries the weight much lower and feels better in the corners. I currently ride the older R1150RT.
Liked your review, seemed an honest unbias review. Would like your view on BMW K1600 Grand america
Unbiased? This whole review was fake news
hi john here i was looking at a goldwing not a new one any where from 2012 to 2017 but this bmw GTL has caught my attention how was it over all
I have been riding gold wings for 30 years now, recently test rode a 2018 k1600gt awesome bike but no contest as a tourer more a superbike. the wing wins hands down no contest as a tourer. I am talking GL1800 i think Honda has got it a bit wrong with the latest wings.
The Goldwing was not meant to be a sport bike but now as of the 2018 it is and is no longer in my mind a full "Touring" bike. One just can't sit back and stretch out your legs and hit the cruise. A " Touring" bike is meant to take your time and enjoy looking at the scenery not to race by it in a blur. Now there are only 4 MFG's that make the big bikes ( Harley, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Indian).
Can the BMW compared to the Goldwing automatic transmission?
Prices is what help me to make the decision on which on, also the distance on next fill and miles per gallon. First part of this year I will be making a decision .
That bike sounds incredible.
Last year I was choosing between new goldwing and the K1600 GA. and whent with the K GA due to it’s amazing caperbilitys even if the dash is out dated, I still like it. Also the price difference fully specked was better for K. And the Customer Service has been first class. And she till this day gives me the biggest smile and cannot believe I own her. I’ve even had goldwing riders stop and look at her.. But the goldwing is equally a very nice bike but the smaller tank and luggage is the biggest turn off for me. Good vid 👍
What's the song used as the intro and outro to this video!?
I had a K1200LT the predecessor to the K1600. The weight was what eventually made me change to an R1200RT. Every time I stopped I was watching for gravel that my foot could slip on, resulting in the bike being on it's side. The R1200RT is much less stressful in that respect. That said, these big bikes (K1600, Goldwing) are a great way to tour.
One other thought, service costs; there is a lot of plastic on these bikes and it takes time to remove. If you aren't doing the work yourself you are paying someone a lot of money to remove and refit the fairings.
Have to agree with you on the lighter R1200RT. Traded my RT in for my GT , found the RT is better on the curves .The GT is fun to ride tho .
Great video and very informative as well. Have you ever test ridden an Indian? If possible, I'd like your opinion on the Indian Springfield. Being you do appreciate and like cruisers, I think you would like the Indian Springfield experience as well. Thanks and ride safe.
I have absolutely no interest in touring bikes but I love your touring bike videos lol
New dash on that BMW, and that would be the winner.
So if you are get the chance to ride the bmw s1000 xr. I'm sure a lot of people would love to hear your opinion of that bike.
Thanks for the vids.
Yeaa ride that one i have ridden it
This is an inline 6 cylinder, but the audio makes it sound like a triple?
I am afraid if they upgrade they would take away the Beautifully screaming "6" and replace with some Lawn Mover engine. The Engine / Transmission combo is and absolute best!
I've ridden so many different bikes and have mostly owned sport bikes. Love carving up a turn. But I also ride it to work on the freeway. (The balancing act with the tires, ha.) About 250K miles on bikes. For over 15 years I've been following sport touring for my wife and I. I'm 55 now and want to tour with her and still carve it up. At first, I was set on the Honda ST1100. The GW was always in my mind but I've ridden older versions and didn't like the weight and living room feel and turn clearance. Plus, people turn them into 3-wheelers and pull trailers. Unbelieveable. No offense, but that isn't me. Then I heard about the K1600 GT and GTL and 5 years ago I decided to get one, even after many rides on Road Kings and Ultra Limiteds. (Beautiful bikes but not me.) Nope, I'm saving for the BMW. So this past August, I did it. I bought the 2020 K1600GTL, fully loaded. 160 HP and 130 ft/lb of torque. I got it in black but I wanted blue but there was only 1 in the USA (NH and I'm in CA). I looked at the revised GW and read the reviews (didn't ride it). The GW is a much better looking bike than the GTL but if that were my main concern, I'd of bought the HD Ultra Limited. No, what I bought it for is exactly what it does. Everything is so well designed and put together. I really hope it's dependable because this bike is amazing. Simply amazing. I get about 39 mpg, has so much power and control. Went up the coast to Oregon to visit friends. Very stable in the turns along PCH. I feel the weight when I stop, but nothing at 5 mph and absolutely smooth at triple digits. I'm spoiled for any other bike. If you love to ride and you've ridden bikes for many years, I can't imagine you not loving the GTL. Keeping the rubber down.
Hi,
Could you try and review the BMW R1250GS please? They are popular as touring bikes in the UK & Europe and I'd be interested in your opinion when comparing a tourer and an enduring tourer
Quality video!
Ayo moto like the content keep it up
Please review the bmw R1000XR.. Very interested in that bike and dosnt get the coverage it deserves
Damnit was hoping you'd do one on the K1600b.
I've both bikes, 2020 BMW K1600 GTL with the option 719 pkg. and I also have a 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT. The difference is if you're looking for a sport ride and speed the BMW all day long. The Goldwing has some serious speed also but you need to be in the sport mode. The Goldwing is the best bike in my opinion for long distance if the trunk and the saddlebags could hold more gear, that said the BMW is the best all around bike. The Beemer has a larger fuel capacity at 7.0gal and a lot more trunk and saddlebag space. You can also remove the trunk and saddlebags. I took the trunk off and the saddlebags off and was able to hit 140 mph on the Beemer in 6th gear, I need to leave it in 5th gear and see what it can do. Bottom line you can't go wrong with either bike, it all depends on your personal preference. The BMW will cost you $10,000 more than the Goldwing. Enjoy your ride no matter what you ride.
You should test ride the 2018 Honda Africa Twin
Any plans on doing a review of a bmw gs?
What bout warranty is it better than Honda's?
Just a few days back my friend who owns this bike was coming back from our raid trip and the throttle of this bike died on us while riding and the when researched we found out that the throttle at 18000 to 25000 km fails . That’s the life span of this bikes throttle . It’s sad as we were on the highway and the bike just refused to move all of a sudden .
In my country they use this motor as a police motor
In france too
I think Hongkong too
Indonesia too
@@SamuelSandres Indonesia mostly use the fjr1300p, r1200rt, and r1200gs. There will be only 50 unit of k1600b in the police force
In Huston, Texas USA they use the 2018/2019 Goldwing
Does it come in automatic?
My buddy with 50 yrs of motorcycle experience and numerous bikes owned has had 2 of these , the transmission failed on both of them , the first one cost him $9000 out of pocket . The 2nd unit was replaced under warranty and with the other issues that needed repair the dealers bill to BMW was $17,000 . No sa habla BMW
You spend more time figuring out that bike's electronic crap than i did when I first got mine. All I did was get it on the road and worry about the other stuff later. You should take the time to properly get to know the important functions that will definitely change your perspective of how the bike really performs, like the ride modes and the dynamically adjustable suspension (something you can do while riding).
Changing the pre-load settings on the k16's suspension will quiet down it's ride at speeds.
I have not ridden either an 1800cc Gold Wing, or a K1600 BMW, BUT, I have owned a 1500cc Honda Goldwing, and I currently own a BMW K1200LT, which is purportedly the bike that forced Honda to release the 1800 GW earlier than planned, and if I were in the market for a new Full Dress Touring bike, I would ride both, but I think I would still buy the BMW?
Could you do a review on the FJ-09
You need to do a video on my fz10! Im close by!
Is it good for ladakh trip
"Shakes in the wind...(12:16)" That, plus the "top heavy" feel are the reasons I traded my BMW for a pre-2018 Goldwing. Just don't need that on the interstate, and 165hp is absolutely wasted on American highways. The K1600 is an Autobahn cruiser made in Germany for Germany.
Holy shit the noise this thing makes is something else!
The 1600 BMW sounds awesome with the right exhaust. Most riders prefer the sound over any other bike. Truth.
Sweet ride
You should ride a Suzuki v-strom 2009 ish and also do a gold wing build and slam it
What was the song at 2:20
From a guy that owns a BMW k1600 gtl, Goldwing, Harley street glide and a Indian Roadmaster. My take is they're all different in terms of riding, style, feel, looks, etc. I tend to ride my Goldwing two-up going on trips. The BMW is for me to travel by myself and hit the road in a sporty feel. The Harley and Indian just basically cruising and being noticed, haha. Overall, if I could keep one bike. I keep the BMW. Goldwing nice but doesn't get the wow effect like when I ride the BMW.
I have the 2016 F6B goldwing with upgraded suspension . That garmin nav is better than the newest wings. The goldwing old and new versions need the suspension upgraded. The stock springs can’t even support the bike off the side stand. The bmw is faster and has better suspension stock. But a wing with traxxion dynamics suspension or equivalent is the ultimate touring machine. I’ve been cross country 3 times and would not trade my F6B for a new one or the K1600. Bmw has a Great motor though heavy. The flat 6 honda gets that weight down low.
Good video. Thank God you didn’t continue the music! Loved the ... um, er, ah, oops etc!
The 1200RT has the same power to weight ratio if you wanted a lighter one.
love your review of the k1600 for me the price of that bike was way to much so instead i bought the kawasaki concours less belt and whistle than the bmw but i just love my connie so much power and smooth ride and about 10k less than the bmw
Add some highway pegs on a K1600GTL and you have an incredible machine for long distance rides.
I’m torn between the GT and GTL. I do prefer the more forward body posture of the GT but don’t know about it on long trips. The menus in German is a plus to me. :-)
Hi love the vids
That 6-cyl sound though
6 cylinders of pure joy... but its a freaking huge monster. i ride a b-king and i feel the k1600 is huge
I had the new 2018 goldwing dct, and sold it for the GTL option 719 within a month. The goldwing felt like a huge scooter, which is also speed limited, btw.
The goldwing never ignited my senses, which is why I ride a bike in the first place. In south Africa, we dont even get nav on the goldwing, and according to gw forums, everyone is complaining about how crappy the nav is on the goldwing. So for south africa, that huge screen was only used to see what radio station you arw dialled into. As for car play, it was a nightmare. It kept disconnecting all the time (a Honda problem which everyone is having worldwide).
You say the bike looks dated, you should have a look at the option 719, with the forged wheels and brown diamond stitched seats. It looks classy, well built and expensive. We also get a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty on our BMW's, and that's good enough for me, although I know riders that have had 1600's since 2012 with over 100000 km and no major problems reported.
Naturally, people can compare the motobikes such as K1600 GTL and Goldwing but the most important thing is what peoples expactations? Therefore no one can say this is better than the other. If i need a bigger gas tank or high speed ok thats my choise... it doesn't make it worse or insufficieny than the other.
Very well put .
Hello! Can i ask how tall you are? Do your legs feel comfortable? thank you!
Would love to see a fz/mt 07 review .. ? :)
It also depends if you want one bike that does everything (not just Touring) I seriously considered this bike but on seeing it in person I thought 'this thing is massive' and went for the FJR, have you ridden one of these?
The FJR is a great bike. I own both an FJR and a K16GT and I highly recommend either, depending on what you prefer. But both of them are pretty heavy. More importantly, perhaps, both of them are a bit wide and require you to set your feet out to the side a bit, making them seem taller. The K16 has some seat height options but it's somewhat heavier than the FJR. So with either bike, treat them with respect and be safe. They are not toys for little boys (or girls). And I don't mean that in any way disparagingly. Both of these bikes are pretty dangerous if you can't exercise full control over that weight, height, and power.
Both bikes are excellent machines. I really struggled as I was split down the middle. In the end the lack of storage and fuel capacity pushed me away from the Honda. These are touring machines but the Beemer is simply more capable.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you want the sportiest touring bike, get the GTL. It's very good on the highway and when you get to the twisties you'll have a blast. If you want something that feels rock steady as the miles drone on and has a better stereo, get the Wing... or an Indian Chieftain... or a Harley Whichever Glide.
Wrong! If you want the sportiest touring bike get the GT!
@@benstabile8493 WRONG yourself. The GT is considered SPORT Touring. I was talking about FULL luxury touring. By the way... slightly lower bars and slightly higher pegs don't make it sportier than the GTL... that's just your imagination.
Its a nice bike still im sad that bmw doesnt make 1300 anymore..would love that my k1300 had cruise control lol.
Where is the walk around, don't know anything about this bike but guess I know more about the Goldwing because you never stopped talking about it, c` mon mate a bit more in-depth review would do.
I own one a k1600.
Be aware of the weak
starter
Wheels bearings
Very poor Blinkers buttons
Sounds like me in Spanish class 101 ... I flunked out in the first semester . Lol
TWO WORDS/PHRASES THAT SHOULD NEVER BE IN THE SAME SENTENCE ARE :
BMW AND SHAKE AROUND A BIT.
YOU'LL HEAR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT IN THIS VIDEO
Thank you! You are making my decision even harder! 😂 the only thing is you left it a little confusing. You said the goldwing less fuel, less power etc but you’d still take it. I am seeing the goldwing as less fuel, less horsepower, less storage, less wind protection, more money... but everyone says the same thing in their reviews they would take the goldwing. I don’t get it! 🤣
if that can help you, I rented the 2019 DCT GW for a day and if you're alone it is verry fun to drive and stable at any speed, and easy to handle at low speed. if you want more power, you change to SPORT mode
but my wife hated the back seat, no rails to hang on, small top case and bags, GPS is verry hard to use and no touch screen.
This is why I'm looking at BMW comments ;-)
When’s the gold wing build ????????????????
Good revieuw...
One thing i must say tough...
The bike has been updated a lot .. there are twogenerations of k1600. On the second generation, mufflers are different, front rake , ecu-map, and small changes to the valvetrain
Not much exterior tho
When did the 2nd gen come out? And are the improvements drastically better?
@@kdkd693 From 2017 onwards, the throttle mapping is muted. I have the 2016 and it is wickedly quick to rev. With an aftermarket tune, the later models can be restored to awesomeness. And all the newer features (Shift-Assist-Pro, Reverse, etc.) are great additions. I will happily upgrade once they refresh a few things: hopefully a little better technology will go into the dash/GPS integration, wind management, drive-chain lash, better speakers or optional use of that wasted space (for those who don't use it), and … (well I guess that's all I have for now ;-).
I think next bike project should be a upgraded old Honda Goldwing
