  • Two iconic motorcycles - the new Honda GoldWing Tour DCT and the BMW K1600GT. Two of the most expensive motorcycles on the market. Big engine, supreme comfort, state of the art technology, but which one is the best? The flat-six Honda GoldWing or the inline-six BMW K1600GT? We took them out for a special review to find out.

You are not wrong, boss. I sold my Grand America 2 years old since new. Sadly, too many issues and electrical problems. I had enough. I loved that bike. I just got 2020 Goldwing DCT Tour. Do not regret for a min. The K1600 is an amazing machine....AS LONG AS they run smoothly. If not, say hi to the dealer more then you think. Also, very hard to work on.

@@alp3781 IDK. The K bike is a bit different. As someone that rides one up 99.99% of the time, a K1600GT appeals to me more than the GW. The luggage is quick detachable and compared to the 2018-2020 GW, it has more storage. The ergos are better for me too. That being said, the maintenance on the K bike leaves me cold. If I got another BMW, I'd get a RT again.

Greetings from Oregon! Great video and review guys. 2 months ago I traded my 2014 Honda ctx1300 for the 2019 Goldwing airbag model and absolutely love it. No bike is perfect but this one really comes close. The performance is incredible. I'm getting 45-48 mpg. I'm about to go on my first roadtrip with it now that I feel very comfortable with riding it. I was amazed at how nimble the handling is for a heavy bike. Again, great video. Safe riding.

Great review gentlemen, very fair and complimentary to both fantastic bikes. I ride a 1500 Valkyrie which shares some of the characteristics of the Gold Wing without accoutrements of comfort. I've test ridden the BMW 1600 and other models, and the BMW indeed has strengths for agility, but for cruising, the chassis of the Gold Wing cannot be beat. I wished you had addressed mountain ascents and descents, as this is where the Gold Wing suffers, like the Valkyrie. I've ridden all the European Alps and find the weight of the Wing, and the need to remain in 2nd and 3rd on ascents while using the same on descents, requires extreme diligence on the part of the rider. Doing it two-up is nearly crazy, as weight, inertia of mass on descents in hairpins makes this a challenge. I'm sure the BMW does this better. The comment about road surface is spot on; roads in Europe transition from cobblestone, to flat stone surfaces, to asphalt, and the heavy Wing must be extremely careful. Great review!

Agreed! I bought a 2018 K1600 GTL last summer, after 20 years on my 1999 Honda Valkyrie. I test rode the new Goldwing Tour 6 speed, planning on buying it because of my long history on Honda bikes, but took a test ride on the GTL on a whim after putting a deposit on a GW. Once I experienced the difference in power and handling, ripping off clutch-less upshifts under full power, it was all over. I also liked the Beemer's additional luggage capacity, which is great on two-up trips, and the ability to easily remove the trunk when it's not needed. Ride whatever you love boys and girls!

I've owned a Yamaha FZR750R, as well as a Kawasaki 750 Vulcan. At 58 years old I'm ready to drop some serious $$ on my "retirement" bike. The fact that you two younger guys liked the Honda so much makes me lean heavily in that direction. A touring machine with enough finese and performance to satisfy. Your total delight with the machine confirms why it is the cult classic! Can't wait to take my turn! And yes I would love to visit Transylvania😊

@@hereb4theend hi buddy. The biggest reason for me was the DCT box. The bike just felt like a huge scooter. I guess I am not ready for a gearbox to think for me on a bike yet, let alone change five gears in a matter of 100mts. I know you can put it in sport mode, etc, but it was still a schlep for me.
Also, I live in south Africa, and here we do not get the nav on the goldwing, and it is totally senseless to have such a huge screen to only display radio stations. Unlike other parts of the world, for every 1 honda dealership, we have 50 bmw dealerships. The bike also is speed limited to 200kph. The k1600 GTL is about R100k less than the Honda, but it certainly does not have more than R100k worth of extras to justify. Just a few of my reasons.

🇨🇦 Hello from a Honda F6B owner. A few other advantages of the GW might be Apple Car Play and for the general population it's slightly more affordable both to purchase and to service (with a larger dealer network for longer touring) I would think. I enjoy your review format and wish you all continued success.

Mike C pretty sure they’re in Europe, meaning BMW’s dealership network should be just as good as Honda’s. For North America, you’re probably right...

I was surprised by the outcome, I was convinced the BMW was the winner, I watched your review of the 2018 BMW K1600GT and it influenced me to purchase a 2019 K1600GT. Both are iconic Motorcycles, my opinion is the K1600GT is more off a versatile Motorcycle take of the Top case you have an incredible sport cruiser, while the Goldwing is built as a cruiser. FYI on the BMW there is a shortcut menu to get your right to the handlebar grips. When I am out on a long road trip I really feel better about the BMW fuel Capacity. Either way the scenery and camera work Is brilliant and I enjoyed watching.

well said! I owned a gold wing and I think for a tourer like this the small tank size is a bit of a concern. It always annoyed me why they didn't put at least a 25 liter tank on it.

Ive the comfort package, different brown hand made seats, akrapovic cans and some other mods. Love it. Getting the right screen took a bit of time as im 6ft3 , but it was fun.

I have four bikes, a 2009 BMW RT that I recently acquired with 13,000 miles, 94 BMW R1100RS, ‘97 Honda Valkyrie with 102,000 miles and Triumph Bonneville T100. I am mulling over selling all but the Triumph and getting a new Gold Wing or BMW. The RT has already cost me $1,300 in routine maintenance, plus has a fuel gauge (fuel strip) problem that cost me $400 and is on the fourth strip. The dealership no longer works on bikes over 10 years old and the service manager said they have numerous new BMWs that can’t be sold due to leaking brake calipers.

I got my Goldwing (same as yours on the video) in may 2018 - I have now 13000km on the clock - beautiful experience in the swiss mountains as well as in the city of Geneva. My only negative comments: no park brake engine cut off like with the side stand and the driver seat could be a bit more comfortable. The beauty in this bike is the DCT and in sport mode... what an experience !! I am leaving for a 2 weeks trip in Spain by mid may. Nice video job, i'll subscribe to your channel. Wish you all the best.

My max of riding is about 150 miles before a break so I'm cool with the GW's milage. Not to concerned with luggage space either. After making so many road trips on a 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750, I have learned how to make due with less. One concern is that I have a 31 inch inseam. The BMW looks challenging as far as height. Please consider telling the the seat height with reviews. I could always look up specs though. Awesome review guys. So far the best. I'll subscribe.

There's a bike for everyone out there. In the big sports touring class, these are the two big dogs no doubt about that. IMO even with the refinements on the newer Honda Goldwing DCT which I love I still feel that the BMW rides more like a motorcycle rather than a large luxurious scooter again IMHO. Either way one may appeal to one and one to another. You can go wrong with either one of these bikes. I picked the BMW which suites my riding style and am happy with my decision. Good review and the last part with y'all sitting and comparing like 2 old men bickering made me LOL Great Job !!!
