Indeed! Love my Bagger! I’m 6’4” and I lowered the footpegs, smoked AeroFlow XL windshield, and replaced the Baggers stock handlebars with the GT/GTL handlebars. Also had the full Remus Quad Exhaust installed and what a beauty of a sound it makes!
Was thinking of getting one.. does anyone else have that problem with the bike pulling to the left....That high pitched noise it makes when it is parked does that go away as the bike starts to move...,..
That rear end is such a looker. That muscle-esque look. I love it.
The factory seat on the k1600b is surprisingly comfortable. I rode 735 miles in a day on mine and felt great at the end of the day.
I took ownership a month ago on a demo B Grand America. I am 53 and had a chance to ride them all. This crazy, sexy looking machine is a master driving machine on 2 wheels. When I ride it, I do not want my exit to come. I just want to go and go and go. I am 6'4" and no issues for me. I am going to raise my low seat by 2". I fell in love with the shift assist. I forget the meaning of shifting. It is a sweet smart option and a must have. It is addiction !!!! Also, reverse on it, is a gift and a must. It is a heavy bike. A shorter guy will not push her in a slight incline !!!!! The sound on her is soooo sweet. No aftermarket chances for me. Windscreen must be the taller option fo tall guys which I got. On the hwy, it is magical !!!!! Test them brothers and you will see. Happy riding to all.
I have a 2013 K1600 GT, got it in 2013, previous bike was a CBR1100XX Blackbird, and the beemer is (to me anyway) a heavier, smoother version of the Honda, same amount of HP, way more torque, smokes the tires when you turn off the traction control, wheelies like it's a sport bike, accelerates like a beast, it is probably the best motorcycle I have ever owned or ridden hands down.
What bikes do you use as a comparison?
@@rodneybarcus2233 To GW or any Harley.
I have read rumors on the internet that say it tops out at a hundred and twenty miles an hour. Should I say the governor kicks in at 120mph. Is that true?
@@7ludig As far as I know and before even trying, it is capped at 102. I have only 750 on her. It's the top box, hwy foot rest and possibly the height of the bike that makes it wobble a bit at 85 mph.
Just wow! What a bike. Thanks for the review. Awesome, awesome machine. Really everything you need plus a sportbike on a change.
motorcycle is motorcycle, good or bad, expensive or cheap, fast or slow is the way of life and thank God for everyting
😕
even scooters, two wheels down and PLEASE legalize lane-sharing in the U.S.
Bought one 2 weeks ago. LOVE IT. Traded a 2016 GSA. Did replace the seat with a sargent with a backrest. The looks I get on this bike (especially wearing Klim gear).
You’re rocking the ultimate sport bagger adventure tourer :D
You can get a back rest... ??
San Antonio Steve what’s a GSA?
Drove the Bagger just before a new Goldwing. Loved the Bagger and the Goldwing was a bit boring.
Excellent review. More than enough info. The quick shift gear change sounded quite clunky or was that just the way the camera picked it up? Thanks for the upload.
i have the k1600b the quick shifter is a bit clunky at low revs . keep the revs up and it is as smooth as silk,
Yep and four weeks later I have this bike and it is the dawg’s bollox! Fast as fuck, comfortable, practical, tons of tech, looks cool…everything you need!
Ive always admired BMW for always making multi-purpose machines its a bagger yet effortlessly fast and sport bike performance... Not surprised consider the s1000r well rounded perfect ergos and smooth/powerful easy to ride the RR super fast aggressive AF and still comfortable all things considered. All well rounded never just one thing.
Last two weeks I have been looking at used FJRs, ST1300, CTX1300, Concours, K1600 and I can say for sure the only bike more comfortable than the K1600B was the pre -2018 Goldwing. The front floor boards on the BMW were great, thought I was going street glide, but I highly recommend taking a look at this bike.
East coast bike reviews - on point
Thank you Duke you just answered my question I'm 5'7" . 30" inseam I can ride that bad boy . I've wanted to buy one of these bikes I've been to the showroom and I think I'm gonna go ahead and buy one of these. Only reason I haven't is because I hate to spend the money and only to find out this was the bike I didn't want. Thank You for the great review....
That is a beautiful machine. Great review.
your review helped me trade in my 1250 gsa 2021
The B is for badass. Nice review.
You can't get pricing on BMW motorcycles from the Rollick website. At least not anywhere near my area (SF Bay Area).
Kind of a tease in my opinion.
Do you always ride with just one arm?
Hay bro thanks for the review. The question is without knowing anything about this bike would you buy the bmw or the goldwing. I really love my HD ultra limited but I wonder if their isn't a better bike for my next purchase. Thanks
Honda goldwing,, is 1,000000 better then HD,,
The question is can a passenger back rest and luggage rack be purchased?
I was more interested in knowing the final gear highway speed rpm. I noticed on one video a guy was on one running around 65 or 70 going down the highway and it was in final gear but still sitting around 3500 4k rpm. Love the bike but was more interested if they really are that short geared or not?
OK, ready for comment this time: I owned the BMW GTL 1600 a couple of years ago, and sold that (too top heavy) and went to a F6b. Traded that in today for a 2018 1600B. The speed limiter is 135 MPH for this B model. This bike still blows me away!
I just didn't want to be another of the endless Gold Wing riders. I ride to get away from the ordinary. I really don't want to blend in! But there's nothing wrong with a Honda. They're great bikes, too!
northerniltree Have you gone over 105 to check this? Would be great news if so, as that would suggest it is much more stable than the Grand America with topbox. This might sway me back to it
I have one my self and it is confidence inspiring. It feels so solid and planted on the road, rock stable and still very flickable, unbelievable for such a big bike. You can doddle around and thrash it a moment later, I could very well keep up with sportsbikes as well. The seat is very comforatble however the stock windscreen is absolutely usesless, buffeting galore. I installed a Wunderlich Marathon screen and that is an amazing screen, no buffeting whatsoever, very quit pocket of air. Even K1600GT riders will trade theirs for a K1600B. The only downside is that the panniers are too small to fit a helmet, a little more height would have solvend the problem without disturning the bagger look.
Well done Duke.
Pretty sure this bike wouldn't hold a candle to my Road King.
Kidding.
Something tells me I would love this bike!
Great review, very helpful to me. Just keep holding the left handle :) for safety
I own a h2 sx se and 4 months ago I added this bagger to my garage.
Can you believe since I took delivery of my B I have never ridden my h2.
What a piece of tech and machine.
I am just loving the bike.
Thanks for a great review bud.
Great video really enjoyed it. Great bike. Love my friends gt se. Great bike for the miles !
Just sold my Honda Rune…. A beautiful show pony…. Hoping to buy this bagger in a few days, a bike that looks shit hot but it also a purposeful workhorse!
I like this and the new gold wings. Would love to have a touring bagger that doesn't have a v twin. But I'm afraid to even ask what one of these BMWs cost
How to destroy the speed limiter?
just got one,, luv it
Love it.
8.9 rating on the go - so precise - it was very funny :)
:) there is some science to it, but really it’s just how I feel at the time.
Love reading reviews..since I have not decided on which bike to buy ..may just go with good ..low milage used...10× cheaper...lol
7 minutes in and I wont buy another harley
Had one of the first K1600's delivered back in 2011 as a 2012 model; it pulled to the left HARD. Myself and a few others worked on a fix based on the theory that there was something wrong with the tire contact patch alignment. One of the early adopters was able to shim the upper A-arm to achieve relatively straight tracking. For me the point became moot when my K1600 was totaled. The replacement 2012 K1600 tracked straight as an arrow.
Purchased a 2018 K1600B with the express understanding that the problem had been fixed (why would I think otherwise) and discovered the bike also pulled to the left. BMW blew me off, claiming it was 'within specifications'. Ok, then send me a copy of said specifications. During trial BMW admitted no such specifications existed.
Took the K1600B to Computrack Boston to have the frame and wheel alignment measured. What we discovered was the tire contact patches were actually somewhat aligned. Did some calculations and review of CZcams assembly videos at the BMW factory. My educated guess is that the entire engine/transmission/final drive & wheel assembly center of gravity is 0.6 inches to the left of the line between the tire contact patches. All this weight off the centerline causes the bike to want to dive to the left, requiring constant input into the handlebars.
The sad part is that this should be a very easy engineering fix at the factory.
I did speak with the NHTSA about this and they in turn called BMW North America. BMW admitted on the call they knew about this but didn't consider it an issue. Seriously.
Scott Foster My GTL does it too as well as my friends GT. It’s irritating for sure.
Wow. This would be even a worse issue on LHD roads where the road camber is also to the left!
Ken Dibble Its only when you take you hands off the bars. Unnoticed with even one finger on either grip.
@@chrissmith7101 Uh... no. If that were the case, I doubt the Court would have found in my favor. The bar is the motorcycle/vehicle has to be unusable for its intended use, which is a pretty high threshold. This was proven in Court with BMW throwing the best they had at us.
Given that 50% of the K1600s have no issue at all tells me its a tooling problem. BMW uses a 2 stage frame welding jig. While the robot is welding one frame, the worker is loading/unloading the other side of the turntable. A very well educated guess is that one of those 2 jigs on the turntable is putting out 'bad' frames that allow for tolerance stacking to cause the engine/drive assembly to float thought a range of locations.
Your bike may have less tolerance stacking so the 'pull' can be counteracted with one finger on either grip.
A lot of other K1600s have it so bad that even the slightest amount of inattention puts you into oncoming traffic. That was the case with my original K1600GTL and the K1600B.
Otherwise nice bike.
So for those in the market, insist on a test ride. If it tracks straight then by all means buy it. If it doesn't ask for one that tracks straight.
Scott Foster I wasn’t trying to discredit your experience. I was just describing my experience with my bike. Good information that you have shared though. I’ll be looking at the new Gold Wing with the DCT when I’m ready to replace my GTL.
Ha good tip re cruise control now that I have it
No price? Reviewed the "bagger" but didn't show inside of bags or how they open or close, just said they don't come off.
Prices vary so wildly from dealership to dealership. Please check out GoRollick.com for comprehensive pricing information. As for the inside of the bags, I'm sure they are less than interesting.
$26,000
weight too much?
Did you feel that the bike is too heavy because I’m almost your height and inseam size and my weight is 82 kg...
I felt it was incredibly balanced and held its weight ever so gracefully.
I'm only 74kg doesn't feel heavy at all when riding it is surprisingly nimble ! very well balanced bike.
Fun
Thanks
You're welcome!
Sexy bike but these K 1600 bikes need TFT screens, the analog seems a bit dated.
It has both.
If BMW could make this bike in an automatic I feel that it would be the top seller instead of the Goldwing for foreign tour bikes.
👍👍👍
When I am ready to move into this class of bikes its going to be hard to choose😞
I agree! Lots of great bikes and only getting better.
One word..... GOLDWING
@@lance3613 my step dad has a 98 goldwing Mint! I love that bike but he also has a newer Harley same level as the Goldwing. There are things he loves about the Goldwing that the harley doesnt have and there are things that the Harley has that the Goldwing doesnt, that he likes, but one thing he said, is that the Goldwing will not go anywhere...lol
great spec but the screen is woeful I am only 5.11 but the amount of wind noise and buffeting at motorway speeds is terrible and can't hear the radio or music at all because of it. which is a shame as that is where you really want it on a long trip. Dealer agreed when i mentioned it to him and suggested fitting a higher screen....at extra cost of course. similar price point to but not as smooth or stable as the Goldwing bagger but slightly better spec. so hard decision for me
Does anyone knows how much it costs..?
I paid just over $21,000 in Minnesota last year.
It cost,s 26,550
How much???
Depends on your spec! Terrible answer I know, but check out gorollick.com to see what prices for this bike are like in your area
This is basically the 760iL of motorcycles.
Wow dude, you actually rated this awesome machine below that of a 2018 Goldwing?
Just my personal opinion and I stand by it
Gold wing, the best motorcycle on the planet, over 40 mecanics, told me that
Well .... I bought it. 3,000 miles & absolutely no regrets 😁

I concur.
Ta oublié les vitesses mon frère. Ta chofi le monteur
Hearlys are a pain in the but, two meny probles, my freinds spent two meny time in serves
Overpriced Junk ☝️ Junk it ....
Eddie B. Indeed! What gives HD the right to overprice their motorcycles? The Bagger costs $25k with the premium package. The closest thing HD has is the Street Glide Special for about $27k and for what compared to the Bagger?! At $25k the Bagger gives you: electronic suspension settings (Cruise and Road), ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic), dynamic traction control, ABS with Automatic Stability Control, quick shifter, more torque and HP, adjustable windscreen, xenon with adaptive headlights, brembo breaks, lighter and way easier to handle, button layout and the wonder-wheel is very user friendly, etc. What does the HD give you?!?!? A numb butt and carpal tunnel. 🤣
Gene Bachman I know of some long haired effeminate man who thinks he’s a ALPHA male ( Hilarious ) who recently lost his hearing 👂 for several months w/ his loud aftermarket pipes on his softail !! He thought he was all that and a bag of chips ! After his hearing loss he decided to sell that thing ....
Wilson Mercado Holy crap, what has are education system come to, can anyone spell!
speed limited?
Yes, 105 MPH.
@@christophersmith5116 that sealed it, Gold wing 4 me.
@@Rickybobby1340 Hate to ruin your day, but the 2018 and newer Goldwings are 105 MPH also. Sorry.
@@christophersmith5116 not in Australia, they arent 👍
@@Rickybobby1340 What is it in Australia 169 KM?
That black bar across the tank . . . Nope
Single lane undevided road with dense vegetation on both sides riding with one hand! More nerve than I'll ever have.
The BMW is better, but when the garrenty ends, your pockit will die
Wilson Mercado Why I purchased 5 yrs. extended ... for a total of 8 yrs. 🤙 gonna ride the wheels off of mine 🤣 bought mine 8 mos. ago, just did the 12 k service ! It’s very hard to stay OFF this bad ass Stallion 😎
Radio doesn’t blue tooth with cell phones wtf BMW
am i the only one that noticed a leak?
Where and if what?
@@DukeOfDC in the beggining(before walkaround)there are 2 spots(looks like oil)under the bike, when the walkaround starts, which is earlier than the begining of the video the road under the bike is clear
Oh, yeah that’s not a leak from the bike. Those were there when I got in earlier in the morning
I own a h2 sx se and 4 months ago I added this bagger to my garage.
Can you believe since I took delivery of my B I have never ridden my h2.
What a piece of tech and machine.
I am just loving the bike.
Thanks for a great review bud.
I went two a BMW Deler and he himself sed that he seles BMW and goldwings, and he himself prefers goldwings, much more reliable , BMW the parts are way two expenseve, they will charge you doble compre two a goldwing, all mortercycle mecanics toldme that
Wilson Mercado usevyour spell check!
I was going to leave a comment, but then decided against it.
But you did! Appreciate the view and comment. Hope you enjoyed it.
really , not going to give the price
The price is tricky as most dealerships offer different deals/incentives at different times. If you’d like, please head to gorollick.com for the specific price!
Already went to the BMW Motorrad website for details, thanks.
I paid just over $21,000 for mine last year.
this guy cant get around that not all bikes have to sport inclined... its a bmw so itll always handle well but with those specs the only time anyone is going fast is in a straight line.
This guy adores a lot of different bikes including this one :)
@@DukeOfDC im sure you do.... i would too if i was in your position. my favorite vid of yours is the ural sidecar review
I have new 2018 gtl e. Bike pull to left and most k1600 do it. Just take hands off and you will feel sick drift to left. This model “B” cannot be drove faster than some 100 miles do to unsafe behave of the back of the bike. And essentially it is just k1600gtl with different back. On my bike I have another engine fitted by bmw as the first one leak without repair. If you buy bmw you will end up with more visit in service than when you ride Harley....( my own experience in this expression)
goodfella21f on Harley you will not get the power comfort and ride like on bmw but if I will be you I will ride them both then go to Indian and to Honda try gold wing. I have really bad experience with bmw and my bro had same experience with gs if coming to how many time We visit service for repairs. It’s another factor. If you like quality and feel bmw had no any. It’s just cheap wobbly plastic covers on each panel you see. I have previously Yamaha xv1900 roadliner and if I compare it to bmw k1600 as quality I feel bmw sucks because the plastics. If I compare it to service visit bmw sucks as on Yamaha I have been only for intervals service no repairs and I have done 40000 miles on it.
@@abazdarhon I dont know man you are the only one who says this bike has bad quality and not reliable. bmw gives the longest warranty on a market and THATS a real statement to me.
so all in all for some reason you are not telling the truth. or just a bad bad luck.
Haven't had any issues with 2012 BMW K1600GT yet! 30k miles & counting!
RedboRF every bmw owner is like Harley owner whatever happen it still perfect. This bike is cover all round with cheap plastic apart frame wheels and engine it’s all plastic. Whatever you touch it soft under your fingers. My old yamaha xv1900 had most of body from metal and even if it was plastic it was hard plastic while touch it. It was all fit well and you feel you have well done bike. My k1600 is basically well performing bike if coming to speed / comfort / cornering but everything else suck. My next visit in service planned after snow get out or they stop put salt on road and probably I will get another engine or new bike as the one I have leak again.
7ludig wow that’s a mileage. I have my bike from June 2018 and already done 8k and only salt on road stop me to use bike for commuting to work. Maybe if you start using your bike more ( I presume it by see your mileage in description and model year which mean you doing only 5k per year ) then your visits in service will grow as the faults of that bike. Or maybe my one it the unlucky one.
you will have to learn to use a camera. im leaving
Thanks for the positive comment! Safe riding :)
Problem with BMW is Paint. Their paint is boring, mainstream, bland. The Grand A Top bag cannot be removed and you cant get a top bag in the future for a B, sucks balls. Accessories please bmw. Side bags look like little squirrel nuts when you are in a group of diversified baggers as they dont wrap around the exhaust and go a bit lower. None of the bags hold a XL full face helmet. Lets see some better crash bar options BMW, come on (8,000$stop-n-drop). Small touchscreen must be made of solid gold. Still a great bike though.
Nice review but I will be keeping my 2009 1200rt for a while now, I can get a full face helmet in the bag with room left over, I was surprised when I found this out, this bike has a lot of miles but I've been changing everything, it was not kept up well at all, had to really lube the places the key opened as the key would not turn at all, bags would not function correctly, could not get the rear seat to release, tires were way over inflated, bought it from a dealer of used bikes in Houston, they lie about everything to sell, I'm real glad I'd had prior experience in repair, building and rebuilding. I almost could not move the bike as it was set up so high that I was tip toeing, 5' 9", I figured out the lowering but the seat would not go low enough so I cut the bottom out and pulled a lot of the foam out, could not afford the seats that were lowered, now I can ride just fine. Had the bike three months down here in south TX and when it's not raining I'm riding every other day or so, had to relearn to ride after 34 years of not being able to and it's too much fun, mine is light grey and very dark grey tiny metal flake. The cruise doesn't work and I'm working on getting the wiring together on that, cruises are fabulous.
you can easily remove the bag from a GA...vids all over the tube about it...
Talking too much
