    Indeed! Love my Bagger! I’m 6’4” and I lowered the footpegs, smoked AeroFlow XL windshield, and replaced the Baggers stock handlebars with the GT/GTL handlebars. Also had the full Remus Quad Exhaust installed and what a beauty of a sound it makes!

    I took ownership a month ago on a demo B Grand America. I am 53 and had a chance to ride them all. This crazy, sexy looking machine is a master driving machine on 2 wheels. When I ride it, I do not want my exit to come. I just want to go and go and go. I am 6'4" and no issues for me. I am going to raise my low seat by 2". I fell in love with the shift assist. I forget the meaning of shifting. It is a sweet smart option and a must have. It is addiction !!!! Also, reverse on it, is a gift and a must. It is a heavy bike. A shorter guy will not push her in a slight incline !!!!! The sound on her is soooo sweet. No aftermarket chances for me. Windscreen must be the taller option fo tall guys which I got. On the hwy, it is magical !!!!! Test them brothers and you will see. Happy riding to all.

      I have a 2013 K1600 GT, got it in 2013, previous bike was a CBR1100XX Blackbird, and the beemer is (to me anyway) a heavier, smoother version of the Honda, same amount of HP, way more torque, smokes the tires when you turn off the traction control, wheelies like it's a sport bike, accelerates like a beast, it is probably the best motorcycle I have ever owned or ridden hands down.

Not surprised consider the s1000r well rounded perfect ergos and smooth/powerful easy to ride the RR super fast aggressive AF and still comfortable all things considered. All well rounded never just one thing.

    OK, ready for comment this time: I owned the BMW GTL 1600 a couple of years ago, and sold that (too top heavy) and went to a F6b. Traded that in today for a 2018 1600B. The speed limiter is 135 MPH for this B model. This bike still blows me away!
    I just didn't want to be another of the endless Gold Wing riders. I ride to get away from the ordinary. I really don't want to blend in! But there's nothing wrong with a Honda. They're great bikes, too!

    I have one my self and it is confidence inspiring. It feels so solid and planted on the road, rock stable and still very flickable, unbelievable for such a big bike. You can doddle around and thrash it a moment later, I could very well keep up with sportsbikes as well. The seat is very comforatble however the stock windscreen is absolutely usesless, buffeting galore. I installed a Wunderlich Marathon screen and that is an amazing screen, no buffeting whatsoever, very quit pocket of air. Even K1600GT riders will trade theirs for a K1600B. The only downside is that the panniers are too small to fit a helmet, a little more height would have solvend the problem without disturning the bagger look.

  • @SCFoster
    @SCFoster Před 5 lety +1

    Had one of the first K1600's delivered back in 2011 as a 2012 model; it pulled to the left HARD. Myself and a few others worked on a fix based on the theory that there was something wrong with the tire contact patch alignment. One of the early adopters was able to shim the upper A-arm to achieve relatively straight tracking. For me the point became moot when my K1600 was totaled. The replacement 2012 K1600 tracked straight as an arrow.
    Purchased a 2018 K1600B with the express understanding that the problem had been fixed (why would I think otherwise) and discovered the bike also pulled to the left. BMW blew me off, claiming it was 'within specifications'. Ok, then send me a copy of said specifications. During trial BMW admitted no such specifications existed.
    Took the K1600B to Computrack Boston to have the frame and wheel alignment measured. What we discovered was the tire contact patches were actually somewhat aligned. Did some calculations and review of CZcams assembly videos at the BMW factory. My educated guess is that the entire engine/transmission/final drive & wheel assembly center of gravity is 0.6 inches to the left of the line between the tire contact patches. All this weight off the centerline causes the bike to want to dive to the left, requiring constant input into the handlebars.
    The sad part is that this should be a very easy engineering fix at the factory.
    I did speak with the NHTSA about this and they in turn called BMW North America. BMW admitted on the call they knew about this but didn't consider it an issue. Seriously.

      Ken Dibble Its only when you take you hands off the bars. Unnoticed with even one finger on either grip.

    • @SCFoster
      @SCFoster Před 5 lety

      @@chrissmith7101 Uh... no. If that were the case, I doubt the Court would have found in my favor. The bar is the motorcycle/vehicle has to be unusable for its intended use, which is a pretty high threshold. This was proven in Court with BMW throwing the best they had at us.
      Given that 50% of the K1600s have no issue at all tells me its a tooling problem. BMW uses a 2 stage frame welding jig. While the robot is welding one frame, the worker is loading/unloading the other side of the turntable. A very well educated guess is that one of those 2 jigs on the turntable is putting out 'bad' frames that allow for tolerance stacking to cause the engine/drive assembly to float thought a range of locations.
      Your bike may have less tolerance stacking so the 'pull' can be counteracted with one finger on either grip.
      A lot of other K1600s have it so bad that even the slightest amount of inattention puts you into oncoming traffic. That was the case with my original K1600GTL and the K1600B.
      Otherwise nice bike.
      So for those in the market, insist on a test ride. If it tracks straight then by all means buy it. If it doesn't ask for one that tracks straight.

The closest thing HD has is the Street Glide Special for about $27k and for what compared to the Bagger?! At $25k the Bagger gives you: electronic suspension settings (Cruise and Road), ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic), dynamic traction control, ABS with Automatic Stability Control, quick shifter, more torque and HP, adjustable windscreen, xenon with adaptive headlights, brembo breaks, lighter and way easier to handle, button layout and the wonder-wheel is very user friendly, etc. What does the HD give you?!?!? The price is tricky as most dealerships offer different deals/incentives at different times. If you’d like, please head to gorollick.com for the specific price!

    I have new 2018 gtl e. Bike pull to left and most k1600 do it. Just take hands off and you will feel sick drift to left. This model “B” cannot be drove faster than some 100 miles do to unsafe behave of the back of the bike. And essentially it is just k1600gtl with different back. On my bike I have another engine fitted by bmw as the first one leak without repair. If you buy bmw you will end up with more visit in service than when you ride Harley....( my own experience in this expression)

    • @abazdarhon
      @abazdarhon Před 5 lety

      goodfella21f on Harley you will not get the power comfort and ride like on bmw but if I will be you I will ride them both then go to Indian and to Honda try gold wing. I have really bad experience with bmw and my bro had same experience with gs if coming to how many time We visit service for repairs. It’s another factor. If you like quality and feel bmw had no any. It’s just cheap wobbly plastic covers on each panel you see. I have previously Yamaha xv1900 roadliner and if I compare it to bmw k1600 as quality I feel bmw sucks because the plastics. If I compare it to service visit bmw sucks as on Yamaha I have been only for intervals service no repairs and I have done 40000 miles on it.

      @@abazdarhon I dont know man you are the only one who says this bike has bad quality and not reliable. bmw gives the longest warranty on a market and THATS a real statement to me.
      so all in all for some reason you are not telling the truth. or just a bad bad luck.

      Haven't had any issues with 2012 BMW K1600GT yet! 30k miles & counting!

    • @abazdarhon
      @abazdarhon Před 5 lety +1

      RedboRF every bmw owner is like Harley owner whatever happen it still perfect. This bike is cover all round with cheap plastic apart frame wheels and engine it’s all plastic. Whatever you touch it soft under your fingers. My old yamaha xv1900 had most of body from metal and even if it was plastic it was hard plastic while touch it. It was all fit well and you feel you have well done bike. My k1600 is basically well performing bike if coming to speed / comfort / cornering but everything else suck. My next visit in service planned after snow get out or they stop put salt on road and probably I will get another engine or new bike as the one I have leak again.

      7ludig wow that’s a mileage. I have my bike from June 2018 and already done 8k and only salt on road stop me to use bike for commuting to work. Maybe if you start using your bike more ( I presume it by see your mileage in description and model year which mean you doing only 5k per year ) then your visits in service will grow as the faults of that bike. Or maybe my one it the unlucky one.

    Problem with BMW is Paint. Their paint is boring, mainstream, bland. The Grand A Top bag cannot be removed and you cant get a top bag in the future for a B, sucks balls. Accessories please bmw. Side bags look like little squirrel nuts when you are in a group of diversified baggers as they dont wrap around the exhaust and go a bit lower. None of the bags hold a XL full face helmet. Lets see some better crash bar options BMW, come on (8,000$stop-n-drop). Small touchscreen must be made of solid gold. Still a great bike though.

      Nice review but I will be keeping my 2009 1200rt for a while now, I can get a full face helmet in the bag with room left over, I was surprised when I found this out, this bike has a lot of miles but I've been changing everything, it was not kept up well at all, had to really lube the places the key opened as the key would not turn at all, bags would not function correctly, could not get the rear seat to release, tires were way over inflated, bought it from a dealer of used bikes in Houston, they lie about everything to sell, I'm real glad I'd had prior experience in repair, building and rebuilding. I almost could not move the bike as it was set up so high that I was tip toeing, 5' 9", I figured out the lowering but the seat would not go low enough so I cut the bottom out and pulled a lot of the foam out, could not afford the seats that were lowered, now I can ride just fine. Had the bike three months down here in south TX and when it's not raining I'm riding every other day or so, had to relearn to ride after 34 years of not being able to and it's too much fun, mine is light grey and very dark grey tiny metal flake. The cruise doesn't work and I'm working on getting the wiring together on that, cruises are fabulous.
