    Good video. I see u removed the valve cover, to put a lock in, and also the lock between the cams. Did you also lock the fly wheel with a tool?

    Great vid but you missed locking the crankshaft, i know a lot of us have no need for this but some 1 may watch this to do theres and spin in

      That's cos the water pump isnt driven off the cambelt 😉👌

      @@user-fn1rb9ze6p yes but when timing belt is changed also water pump needs to be changed to prevent it from failing. The water pump is driven by the poly V belt. It's normal interval change for 100k for diesel engine and 150k for 1.6 and 1.8 patrol engine

      @@danielefrancavilla its between 40k to 100k smart ass for both petrol and diesel. Belt aww chain driven. And water pump is not allways done with belt if its running on an ancillary belt lol

      @@daverob1680 And of course I'm not talking about miles not being english but km. The change of the intervals is written on vehicle's user manual. So is around 60-80k miles/90-120k km for Diesel and 100k miles/160k km for petrol or 10 years what comes first. On my 1.6 or 1.8 petrol also the water pump must be changed. I'm afraid 40k miles is a little too early or useless. When I got mine changed at 150k km my timing belt was still in very good condition. Cheers!

      @@danielefrancavilla different in the UK timing belts are done between 40 and 100. Usually is 80k mark where they fail belts on pettols . Chains can last 100/150 on diesels. Chains recomended at 100k

    Is it normal for the tensioner to have some in and out movement? Both the old and new one have a bit of movement which I found strange. We’re talking about 1-2mm

    You mention something about removing the sparks plug. Would that help in making the belt go in easier.

      If you remove the spark plugs you don't have compression and it's easier to turn the crank shaft

      Thats what I was thinking.. with the cam gears locked you would think the cams are not gonna move

      I found this quite helpful BUT! I bought a new tensioner and it came with a pin holding it closed. It allowed me to install the belt without fighting the spring. Can I send you a picture?

    Why you must open the cap of the motor when you have The yellou bloking tool??

      I did this job yesterday on my Z18XER. Didn't need the Cam locking bar. Just used the yellow gear locks to hold the cams. Taking the valve cover off is not needed.

      Manufacturer states 100k miles. Haynes manual advises 40k miles.

      You shouldn't need to replace a timing chain like you would a timing belt unless its stretched and making excessive noise.
