    I just had the same issues that other's have had with it not recognizing the station. Of all things, after two days I realized the power cord was just sitting in the hole. If you push tightly on it you will hear it "snap" in. Lo and behold, no more issues the power stays on and it worked like a charm.

    • @edufly2008
      @edufly2008 Před 5 měsíci

      It solved the issue for me. No snap was audible but I had to squeeze in the power cord firmly at the back of the station until the light turns ON at the front.

    Hi Jamie, if you've two docks (auto empty and a standard charging one) on different floors will the Roborock S7 remember both? Or will it only interface with a single dock?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Před 2 lety +1

      It will remember both. It will have one dock per floor/map.

    Curious what your advice is if it updates the dock but puts it in the wrong location. It thinks it's in a new place, but the new place is wrong, so then it is very confused about where it is when walls and furniture don't match up

    I've been using iRobot 400 series,500 series and 800 series for at least 30 years and the earlier models left marks all over the baseboards which in my house are white and now they have black marks everywhere.
    To fix the situation I repainted the baseboards and added soft weather stripping to the front of my iRobots so they do not mark the furniture or baseboards. Plus, the earlier models did not allow for avoidance of small objects nor could they map the house. At the moment, I'm reviewing the Roborock, the Deebot and one other manufacture and I have found your videos very helpful thank you.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Gerald! I hate to hear you are having issues with the robots making marks on the baseboards. Roborock is coming out with a S7 MaxV which will help keep it from slamming into objects and walls. I am testing it now, but it won't be out for sale until later 2nd quarter. I am glad you find my videos helpful!

      @@jamie.andrews Mr Andrews I will keep an eye, my right eye, on the lookout for your test of the robot that you mentioned in your response. Thank you for bringing these reviews to our attention as I believe that you're giving your honest opinion and I should assume that you pay for your machines and they're not paying you to review the product because that way you can voice your opinion without prejudice.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Před 2 lety +1

      @@gwmattos I pay for some of them, but others are provided to me to review. This helps me as I do not make enough money on this channel to buy these robots plus I often get them before they are listed for sale to the general public. Many people on CZcams simple rush to put out a review without throughly testing it or living with it. Only when you use it day after day can you give an honest accurate review. I try and make sure I am honest about the good and the bad.

    • @gwmattos

      @@jamie.andrews I fully understand. My iRobot 400 series began a circle dance about 1-2 weeks after using it. I disassembled it and found a bad "led" that shines through a tiny window when tthe bumper touches a wall or something solid which causes it to back up or move to the right or to the left. The part can be purchased at a electronic store for under 25 cents. The Roomba 400 cannot be used until I find the LED which makes $500 machine worthless. After disassembling the machine twice and finding the problem I now have to replace not only the LED but also the sensor and the spring that's in there but it'll have to wait till after tax season. The early machines made by iRobot we're not made for long-term use and we're only as strong as the weakest link. I appreciate the fact that you are testing these machines over a longer term and the designers and engineers that put these parts together don't realize that the consumer needs something that will last a good five to 10 years at least otherwise thousands of plastic little robots that are basically carpet sweepers or floor sweepers not only fill up recycle bins and city dumps and take a few hundred years to decompose which many people don't think about when it comes to computer waste because they're nothing more than a motherboard or circuit board and a few switches and wires and lots of plastic. Thank you so much for doing what you're doing.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Před 2 lety +1

      @@gwmattos You are absolutely right. Some of these devices do not last as long as they should. I can tell you that Roborock makes quality and likely the best Robot vacuums on the market. They have flaws like the S6 MaxV did, but Roborock makes changes to address them. They also update firmware 5 times more often than any other company.
      A few time that I kinda rushed a review I ended up regretting it months later. I may lose out on some views by not being first, but I am doing it to help people with an expensive luxury purchase that they expect to work the way it is described by marketing people. We both know how that goes! I live with my vacuums and use them daily, but only the ones I am about to review. This is the only way to find the pros and cons. I thank you for your support!

    Hello. I only have one dock for my 3 maps but at some point the s7 got it’s location confused and added docks on all my maps. So once it’s finished it gets gets confused about why it can’t find the dock. Any ideas how how to get rid of docks without deleting the map?

    • @Ck-tc6jg
      @Ck-tc6jg Před rokem

      Yes exactly! So when it finishes on the maps where there isn’t a dock, it “thinks” there’s a dock there so tried to find it for a long time after the cleaning has finished! How do I remove the fake docks without deleting the map?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  Před rokem

      @@Ck-tc6jg This is the first I have heard of this. My guess is at some point it thought it was on the floor with the dock meaning when you ran it on the floor with the dock it was actually set to be on another floor and when it docked it placed a dock there. Unfortunately you will need to delete those maps.

If I put it on the dock (in the new location) it assumes it is at the old location. It does not try to reposition to learn its new location. It just goes out and tries its best to clean the small zone nearby and then returns to the new dock location still thinking it's in the old dock location.

    It doesnt work, it just started finding non existing spaces, non existing walls and pretty much ruined my map
    I guess remaping is the only option but its so absurdly dumb.
    Why they dont have simply an option to change dock location manually on the map??
    edit:
    restored the map with older backup and then
    solved by moving the robot 10cm from the dock and then clicking the "return to dock", it magically instantly found out the new location.
