TCL 2024 TV Line-Up | First Impressions, Pricing, 115-Inch BEA$T

- TCL's 2024 TV lineup isn't just expansive, it's different this year. The new QM7 series offers mini-LED backlighting and up to 2400 nits for prices well below what those specs cost last year, while the new QM8 lineup pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from a mini-LED TV -- in fact, it's the brightest TV I've tested to date, and -- surprise! -- it's not the 115-inch monster QM891G, either.

Hey guys. What do you think? 6,200 nits peak is wild, right? How do you think it will do in the studio? Also, apologies for accidentally omitting the 98â QM8 in the graphic. It is currently $6,000
I really don't care for this brightness focus. Size and well controlled high mini-LED count do interest me as a projector replacement in a light controlled room. Even 100nits (full screen) can be blinding on a giant screen in that setting. I hope to see ~120" TVs focusing on picture quality and standard 1000 nit peak brightness.
I am confused, where is the 98 inch qm8 and what is the price, in the video it jumped from 85 to 115 inch.
@@user-oq6sc1qm4j itâs $6,000 - I must have accidentally omitted it when I sent in the pricing data to the edit team.
I just got a 77" G3 and it have to turn the brightness down some, no idea why this would be needed besides for outside.
I would definitely go for the 6,200 nits if the full screen brightness was 6,200 nits the whole time with the option to turn on the 6,200 nits like a brightness settings on a flashlight.
I have the 2023 qm8 and always find my self lowering the brightness at night time because it is oh so bright. This years model has 5K nits and 5K dimming zones. Whoa.
Thanks Caleb and ENJOY your well-deserved vacation!
TCL is no joke. They are putting out awesome TVS both budget and premium. Heck even the mid range TVS are awesome as well.đ
They also released the first ever 1000 HZ 32 inch 4k monitor .
What version is the OS on? Mine from 2021 is on 9, while Android TV is up to 13. My one and only security patch is from 2020! Lots of oohs and ahs on the new sets but no one doing updates on older sets from that company it seems. Sony, Samsung, LG, etc. on the other hand...
Very nice TCL First Look! Looking forward to the reviews. Have a wonderful vacation!!đđ„°
Hello! Will you be doing a review on the 2024 TCL QM8 vs. the 2024 Hisense U8?
Enjoyed the preview. Thanks
Go, have fun, relax! We can wait. The TCL lineup sounds fantastic. I'm looking forward to your reviews.
'We'!?
Really need to see a head to head of the QM8 and the Hisense U8N/U9N
yep, no one has done this yet
FOMO just released a video comparing the QM8 with 3 other TVs, including the U8N.
Great video, and enjoy your vacation!
Unrelated but I just bought the u7k. Thanks so much for the review fam it is amazing. I haven't bought a TV since 2018, back then I bought a 50" Vizio with only 1080p. This thing is just crazy. Glad I could get a professional opinion on what to get
I am with you on the needing a vacation lol, you definitely been grinding as usual so definitely go get that vacation and enjoy it! I plan to take one myself after I review the Sony Bravia 9
Do you have one on order? Looking forward to the 4K streams lol. Did you see the "Post76" (YT name) Chinese review of the Bravia 9. Had some cool movie footage in it.
How can he do that without getting copyright claims. I wonder if it is possible to show if the clips are only 5-10 seconds long?
I can't wait for their view. I can't figure out how to adjust the TCL qm7 Center pedestal stand. I think it only has the one
Have a wonderful vacation! I can't wait to see what the QM8 is capable of. If it is as good as I think it will be, it will be in my living room as soon as it is released.
Iâm interested in the QM8 with the Q85H soundbar. Enjoy ur vacation!
so glad you are getting some time off! enjoy!
I'm looking for a new 85" TCL and was going to go with last years QM8 series since it is at such a good price. Do you think this years models will blow it away or do you think for the money the 2023 models are still good?
I took your advice and subscribed! Got an extra TV you don't want any more?
Caleb, one interesting thing to cover in your upcoming review of 115 inch QM8 would be how immersive the picture is particularly for movies.
Can it easily beat the best projector available in the market? That'd be interesting to know.
Fantastic episode, Caleb. Enjoy your well deserved vacation. REST, brother. Thank you for all you do within our Nit Nerd Community (TM), as always! Hands down, some of the best content on CZcams!
Great Review!!! Thank u
Nice video keep up the good work
Definitely looking forward to the reviews of the updated QM Series models. Was looking at purchasing a 2023 Samsung OLED (S90c 77 inch) but holding off until I watch the reviews on the new QM7 and QM8.
Would you prefer the 2024 qm8 or the qn90d?
What type of panel will the QM8 use and how are the side views?
Hey will you review either the Roku Pro tv or Sharp Roku Aquos OLED
Happy vacations!
I really hope you have a wonderful time, so you can come back reinvigorated, so you can provide the quality content we have grown accustomed to.
Great video as usual Caleb one question is it worth moving up from the 6 series but anyway have a great vacation get the nerd stuff out of your head and have fun
So the U8N is toast? Or are they similar in performance?
Canât wait for the QM7 review I think thatâs the TV Iâm going to buy.
Hi Celeb, I would like you tell me if the model TCL 65â QM8 and 65C845K 65â are of the same model
I love your nit nerds segments but maybe you can add a section related to realistic viewing like streaming and Blu-ray etc. I see all these crazy numbers but when you are only watching Netflix level HDR a lot of the TVs look very similar
What about pricing for the QM8 98"? Thanks!
Do any of these tvs' offer 4:4:4 chroma and RGB subsampling pixels ? I was planning on getting a 55 inch one for a PC monitor.
Can you bypass the TV's speakers for your own set up?
When can we expect the 115â review? I am seriously considering getting it at my local Best Buy unless your review is disappointing. TV is arriving soon. I need your review!
Good for you Caleb for taking some time off.
and who're you, uncle tom?
Please discuss viewing angles of 98 and 115 inch Tvs. Last year's qm8 models had very poor viewing angles, very narrow. Hopefully they are considerably improved.
Hey caleb @Digital trends can you do a review on the sony bravia 9 2024 model your my favorite consumer who does very good reviews!đ
Is the QM8 2024 the same as the x955 that launched in Europe at the end of 2023?
Is the Qm8 the same as C855 outside of US?
What version of the Android TV OS is the newest TCL on? I'm getting tired of looking at my set with version 9, knowing that up to 13 has been released. Also, TCL seems to be lacking in any security updates. My 2021 model is stuck on a security patch from 2020! What do other Android TVs from other companies say? Are they all this lax?
Whatever you do Caleb, don't unbox that 115" by yourself. We've already seen some close catastrophies, at least one anyway. đ
Hahahaha. I will NOT be handling this one solo!
what are you referring to?
@@CerdurTV Caleb just about got crushed by a TV he was unboxing
@@CerdurTVor at least the TV almost completely toppled over and Caleb had to go to great lengths to save it. I forget which TV. So, I couldn't tell you which video to watch.
â@@JoeDunnitThat was Sony X95L. But that was a good stunt I thought when I watched that.
Thanks for sharing
Is there anywhere to see the number of zones per screen size in TCL's new line of TVs? I would assume the zones advertised are only for the largest models
Which one of these is comparable to the C855?
Does the S series have a quantum dot layer (QLED) too?
So how close is 2023 QM8 vs the QM7? Is it technically the same tv?
This thumbnail is priceless đ€Ł
what are the european equivalent for the Q series if any?
You're not wrong. The QM7 is going to be my next TV.
In the UK we have the TCL 85C805K is that a 2023 TV? I'm confused.
Looking forward to your NNN content, have a great vacation Caleb!
Wait what đ
Lmaooo
I mostly watch CZcams via a PC connected to my 82" QLED TV. I bought that TV in late 2019 and I really do love it. But loving my current TV doesn't mean I don't find myself coveting bigger and better TVs. A 115" TV with a great picture? I just used a tape measure to see how much bigger a 115" screen would be than my 82" TV. Wow. TVs might get better, but I doubt they will get much bigger for quite a long time. But is that TV is worth $20,000? After a year with an 82" TV in my living room, I decided that the 55" in my bedroom was too small and upgraded that TV to 82" as well. But I will not be buying a second 115" TV for my bedroom. If I move later this year, I will seriously consider upgrading to this TV. If I do, I will almost certainly pay to have it wall-mounted. Does this TV come with something like the Samsung One Connect box? That would probably be more convenient than reaching behind a wall-mounted TV to plug in HDMI cables.
Hey Caleb, just wondering, Which size QM8 did those measurements come from? And did the 98â look any dimmer than that? (As is normally the case)âŠ. BTW Enjoy the well-earned break!
It was an 85-inch, and the 98 didnât appear any dimmer, but it is a lot more surface area, so I would t expect it to even if it did measure lower.
Price for the 98 inch QM8?
I still greatly enjoy my 2023 qm8 but I hope that tcl starts doing a better job of software updates for their hdtvs. I think there has only been 1 update so far with last year's model. 1 software update after almost an entire year is totally ridiculous.
Definitely interested to see how the QM7 stacks up against last year's QM8
Are you going to get all these TVs in this year for review?
promissing for upcoming homecinema room
What streaming platform are they using? Hoping more TVs use Roku this year.
TCL used to be Roku based, until last year when they switched to Android. I don't know if TCL uses different OS in different countries like Hisense.
Primarily Google TV, though there appear to be Fire TV and Roku skus listed in lower models. Still trying to get the deets around that.
Enjoy your vacation, you deserve it!
so patronizing!
The dead pixel had me freaking out about my TV haha.
The camera you used to record the TCL TVs has a dead pixel in the middle
TCL for the win!!
That's awesome. While I hope I don't find myself in the need to buy a new TV, this seems like the year to do it. Great prices, great quality.
Excited to see what else comes in the coming years.
What's up with the gap in screen size in the QM7? It leaps from 75" to 98" in a single bound. With no 85" offering I'm forced to choose between the QM8 or the Q6 series. I can't go with the 98" QM7 for physical & monetary reasons.
Same here, I was thinking about the QM7 85".
That was my "target TV to buy" too @@jimidrammer4187
Amazon has the QM7 in an 85. Thatâs also what Iâm looking at.
Very interested in how the 75" QM8 stacks up vs a 77" S90D in a wide-seating living room with windows watching YT TV, YT, and some 4k HDR streaming movies. I think OLED may win, but brightness likely goes to the QM8 and it's $500 less, so if viewing angles are pretty good and processing on par, the QM8 may be better choice.
Of course the OLED will win. The S90D would also give you the benefit of lasting like 3x as long or maybe even longer because it's not from a garbage brand.
Is there any way to play NTFS format pendrive in Google Android tv ??
While Google Android is built by stock as FAT32
The issue is that FAT 32 Can store 4 gb at a tym some blue Ray file more than 4gb which can't be transferred to the pendrive
Dang, no 120hz on the first two models. I might have to check out last year's Q7 or HiSense's U7K instead :(
No 120hz... Enjoy!! đđ
Luv ya⊠stay safe on you Vacation!
Linus from LTT has the 115â qm8 tv. He bought it directly from china and ended up getting it for like 8 grand.
Looks like you showed the 115" QM8 price next to the 98" QM8...
Please do a review of the S Class!
is the 98â QM851 the same TV as the 98" X955 in Germany?
Yes
I would definitely go for a 6,200 nits brightness if there was an option to turn on the brightness based on the number of nits on the 4k mini led tv. For example, the nits number would show a number when the display brightness and back light shows when they are increased and decreased. I would have the full screen brightness at 6,200 if that option was available. The one plus 12 android phone peak brightness is 4,500 nits. Unfortunately, it applies for outdoor use but I was hoping to achieve indoor brightness be 4,500 nits indoors as well on manual brightness settings not with autobrightness since the display is oled. There is no option to disable the auto brightness limiter on smartphones with oled displays. I know it's to prevent burn in that's why the max brightness is for outdoor use. I max out the brightness sliders in manual mode on purpose 24/7 even indoors since I been used to using very bright displays. Only certain phones have the option to enable extra brightness to work indoors. I have my old one plus one android phone with the back light and brightness sliders maxed out. I have outdoor mode enabled indoors to increase the max brightness to bypass the limit of the phones screen brightness and back light of the phone. The display brightness and back light gets cranked to the point that the colors are washed out. Even older android phones used to have outdoor mode back in 2018. I mentioned older android phones because they get very bright with newer phones but the older phones did not limit the display brightness and back light since they can be turned on and off in the display settings.
The current generation 85â QM8 seems to be very good bang for the buck right now.
I know what you mean... I haven't had a vacation or time off for around 9 years now. Enjoy! Maybe extend the trip when you're there if you like the place.
don't lie, you are not counting the weekend (Saturday & Sunday), total 8-10 days off a month.
Itâs TCL. I couldnât care less. But youâre still awesome.
Have a terrific vacation!
I can't wait for all of these TVs to get compared to the Bravia 7 and 9 đ
you can't wait to get married to Cindrella of a TV without getting her compared with her step sisters first?
â@@Sas-wk9ljmore like cousins. You make it sound like TCL tv's suck. But they don't. And they under cut Sony tv's by1000s of dollars. Gotta weigh the options.
Don't forget to compare the prices. TCL absolutely undercuts the Sony prices by 1000s of dollars. The price difference especially for 65 and higher is about half or more of Sony's higher end tvs( the equivalent TCL tvs)
@@willthorson4543 what 'bout durability, reliability, brand trustworthyness and processing/ upscaling?
Important question: Which models have matte screens and which are glossy?
Good question, just try rubbing your hand on the screen. If smooth, like your fingers slip over it easily, then glossy, if not, then matte.
@@Sas-wk9lj I was hoping they would tell us during the overview of the different models. Might be nice to know before we start narrowing down models.
sleepy time vacation with huge burrito and 65â LG C3 đ yez
Soooo..... does the 115" come with a loan application process like with a car? Do you just have to be rather rich? Does it come with professional installation and setup? I really want to know about the buying process on something THAT super expensive.
Enjoy your vacation.
If I need to replace my '86 Samsung Smart TV I would get the TCL 98
Whereâs the price for the 98 inch QM8?
Oh man. Not sure why that wasnât included but I think it was my fault. Itâs $6,000 right now! Good catch!
is the 98â QM851 the same TV as the 98" X955 in Germany?
†excelent!
It really blows my mind where TVs are going.
Not long ago and 85 inch TV would be like 10k from the major players. Here we are now, with 98 inches being 'affordable' and a 115" TV that might hit below 10k come Black Friday or this time next year before the new TV sets launch.
Whatever size and nits this beast amount to, my money is on LG G4 evo 77 inch.
I have a 2023 MQ8, this TVâs weakness is processing. The LG OLEDs are noticeably superior.
Need to do a 98â round up comparison. Vacation 3 yrs ago? Try 2015 âŠ
Does anyone hate this guy? He seems impossible to dislike - not that I want to or anything. I'm just saying. It seems impossible for this guy to receive hate
What's a vacation?
The Bravia 9 is a mini led and the Bravia 8 is a oled and the Bravia 9 is the flag ship so that letâs u kno the mini ledâs is the way to go great peak brightness and almost as deep blacks
I love my qm8 75inch best bang for the buck
True
Only mini led I want is the Bravia 9
2200 for a 77â LGC3 or 2000 for a 75â TCL QM8?
Obviously LG C3
Didn't Linus get that 115" TV for 15K USD including import charges?
he imported it for a hefty amount.
So 5K extra for who?
The QM8 115 inch better be secured with 5 years warranty on the electronics and 8 years on display panel at that price.
Que bueno que el video tiene cc para poder entender pues no hablo inglés
