Diana is my ninth cousin once removed on our mothers side. I am one of the million descendants of Edward the third. Margaret Plantagenet Pole is my 14th great grandmother. I think the truth is that those of us with predominantly English lineage are probably all related in some way.

I am a descendant of the Spencer family too. It’s from Henry Vll’s youngest daughter,Mary Queen of France ,who married Charles Brandon,Duke of Suffolk.
If Henry VIII’s Will had been followed,the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk’s descendants could have inherited the throne of England.Going down the line from Mary and Charles one of their descendants,Ferdinando Stanley,5th Earl of Derby (West Derby near Liverpool) married Lady Alice Spencer,of Althorp. The times that they were living in was very dangerous to be ,or thought to be,Catholic.I’m not sure whether Ferdinando and Alice were Catholic or Protestant,but Parliament chose James Stuart; because he was male and Protestant.After Queen Elizabeth died ,Henry Vlll’s older sister,Margaret’s line was followed leading to the Stuarts.
It’s interesting to think that a Spencer lady could have been the wife,mother or grandmother of a monarch.Unfortunately,Ferdinando died young,before his mother’s death,under suspicious circumstances.At the time of his death he had only daughters,his wife was pregnant and his death caused a miscarriage or still birth of a boy.Quite a tragedy.Maybe he was murdered ?
Anyway,it’s just another alternative line of succession,I’m happy with the Royal family that we have.

I am a descendant of King Edward III through the Seymour family. Sir Henry Seymour was my ancestor, brother of Queen Jane Seymour. Their mother, Lady Margery Wentworth was a descendent of King Edward III’s son Lionel of Antwerp, 1st Duke of Clarence.
It is said almost everyone with British Ancestry is a descendant of Royal Blood. My partner has Royal Blood, my folks are somewhat more vernacular, but astounding just the same.
Everyone everywhere has Royal ancestry. Not just British people having British Royal ancestry.

We can all say we are from royalty the hardest part is doing the family tree to prove the connection.
A lot of people don’t care about family history,l am interested and have been very fortunate to have had help in finding out who my great grandparents were.From them ,on my mother’s side ,I was able to trace back to Henry VII .
I was only told my ancestors were peasants I don’t know anything more than that

Ive been told that almost everyone of European decent is related to William the Conquer. I know several of my lines go thru to the Plantagenets and other European royalty. Its really fascinating to see ❤

Just one mistake @ 7:40 ... Margaret Plantagenet was the YOUNGER sister of Elizabeth of York, not older. Elizabeth's whole deal was that she was the eldest daughter, and thus a heir of her fathers claim to the crown after both of her (younger) brothers disappeared ( the two famous young princes in the Tower). She was King Edwards eldest living child, and with no legitimate sons alive, she was considered by some to be his heir. That is the whole reason for her marriage to Henry VII, that is to say, the marriage merged the Yorkist and the Lancastrian claim to the throne, bringing an end to the Wars of the Roses.
edit: I just realized It was I who made a mistake. I was thinking of one younger daughter of King Edward and Elizabeth Woodvile, but he had in fact an OLDER illegitimate daughter who married Baron Lumley. Altho Wikipedia calls that person Elizabeth, so that got me confused.
He still made a mistake though since she is called Elizabeth and not Margaret.
Unless Wikipedia is wrong.

It's a small kingdom. Anyone there with family roots of at least 200 years is related to everyone else with at least 200 years of British family roots.
That's not true, it's closer to 500 or 600 years before there significant ancestral crossover.
Just goes to show no matter where these people look, they are basically marrying their cousins.

So I also descend from Mary Ball and Augustine Washington. So it is cool to see my line of descent from King Edward III but I do not kid myself that that is particularly special because a majority of people with substantial English heritage are descendants of King Edward III (or at least the first King Edward, I forget which Edward) - but the point is the tens of millions of people of English descent today shared probably no more than a few thousand ancestors from that time period. The ones whose lines continued and continued and continued and continued to have children....until we got here. Although for me to be connected to George Washington so (relatively) closely was a nice surprise...

Shock horror - most ordinary people if they are from the same area will be related , but unless their ancestors were wealthy it just isn't recorded well enough. It would be extremely foolish to consider oneself superior to the aristocracy because one believes one comes from unrelated parents. It is more than likely a false assumption.
