I have been right there at his house in Venice Beach California around 1979. He used to play on Sunday's at the Jockey Club in Marina Del Rey and nis band was unreal! He had so many great musicians in his band and I had never heard anything like it then, or since then! I'm very proud to say that Ollie invited me to work with his band out front singing at the "Beverly Hills Hotel" for a private event. I spoke to him when he was 84 and living in Hawaii. I understand he passed away a short time later. RIP Ollie Mitchell you were an inspiration and a real character to be around. God Bless!
Your Father and I were really good friends, I also loved Kathy. I was a student of Pappy's over a 12 year period. We became best friends and I took him to concerts and places like Disneyland and downtown Los Angeles where aI heard many a story. Did you really tell him to get a new record Dad?
