Thank you Trumpet World for posting this wonderful interview excerpt. I was fortunate to have taken a few lessons with Uan back in 85. That was a special time that I will always remember. Uan was a very kind man and a wonderful trumpet player and teacher. He is truly missed. JT Wyper
Great videos! One correction--in the Uan video the pic of all the great trumpet players--Bud Brisbois, Pete Candoli, etc., the one with Uan's crutch is not Frank Beach. It's John Audino.
Those guys were my heroes. They still are. Great video, but one suggestion. Bring the music down a tad. It's hard to hear the narration. Also because the music is so good, it becomes distracting.
This is a great piece of history. That being said, the background/underscore is way too loud and busy to the point of distraction. It's the exact opposite effect of going to listen to jazz in a club and the guy at the next table is talking loudly to his friend during a ballad solo. I don't want to listen a lot of notes. I wanna hear about Uan.

That's John Audino, I studied with Uan and asked him about that picture on the wall in the small bedroom he used for lessons.
Thank you for posting this!
Yes, Thank-you. Priceless. Any video of Uan playing?

Nice Carl Saunders track up front.
Carl should be more widely known and celebrated!

@Truth614 Yes. Though after all these years the problem remains uncorrected, for whatever reason.
Nice!
What is the title of the intro music and who is playing? Is it on a CD? Great to finally see and hear Uan!
Carl Saunders, from his CD Eclecticism, "Blues for the Common Man"
I didn’t know Uan took over Rafael Mendez’s spot.
That doesn't look like Frank Beach -- it looks more like John Audino.
Who is the trumpet soloist? Not Uan???
How come the best musicians come from Los Angeles?? huh, tell me!
