  • In today's video I upgraded my X-Maxx to high speed gearing and put it to the test at the skatepark and bashing spot. We built some lips for the jumps and send it to the moon!

    No xmaxx goes 50mph on stock gears!

  • @michaelvankirk3576
    @michaelvankirk3576 Před rokem +3

    Physically impossible to get 50mph on a stock pinion and spur setup you only get about 35 mph

    How do you figure out the speed on this?

    • @MK-RC
      @MK-RC  Před 2 lety +2

      I use a GPS Speed Meter from SkyRC. Have a look at the link below.

      50 on stock 🤔

    What gearing do you advise for regular offroad/grass bashing but with a little bit more speed then stock the stock out of the box gearing

    Very first throttle pull after installing the speed spur gear I stripped almost every tooth off haha front went up then stopped! Happened so fast lol

    • @MK-RC
      @MK-RC  Před 2 lety +2

      I know that pain. I didn't start breaking gears until I installed the high speed ones. The Tekno pinion gears have a larger grub screw and it's holding up well.

      @@MK-RC I ended up with gds 50t spur (looks just like hot racing) and a 20t Robinson racing pinion well 17t at the moment because my grub screw came loose and destroyed the 20 lol

      I just put mine on, with paddle tires, just another level of fun there boys!

      @@fiwarelli may try this one I've had forever now and see what happens lol I bought a gear set on Jenny's rc for 100 it came with front and rear pinion with bearings, center drive shaft, center diff with bearings, cush drive with 54 and 46t spur gears plus the shaft that hold the spur. Pretty good deal considering the center diff alone is like 65!

    Do you have any temp issues driving offroad with this gearing? I'm going to buy one of these but i would drive it faster without stopping for the overheating too often.

    • @MK-RC
      @MK-RC  Před rokem +2

      I don't have any temp issues. I'm also mindful of the terrain and ambient temperature. As long as you're not running 1 pack after another it'll be fine. Stock cooling is sufficient. I've broken quite a few fans from chassis flex though.

    • @MK-RC

      That time of year couldn't have been more than 80. Definitely been doing less bashing during the summer.

    Tekno 20T pinion gear and GDS 50T spur gear... you'll thank me later

    • @MK-RC
      @MK-RC  Před 2 lety +1

      You're right!!
      I've got a tekno 18 tooth pinion installed. The larger grub screw is holding the gear on securely for now!! Much better than stock. I'll order up some of those GDS gears.
      I also have left the gear cover off so if a pinion slips off it won't completely destroy the spur gear.

      @@MK-RC I took my gear cover off at one point while testing a gearing change with the Traxxas stock gears and it still ripped all the teeth to shreds. 🤣 The stock spur gears from Traxxas are trash. Even the "HARDENED STEEL" spur gears are garbage.

      Do you recommend this for stock motor/ESC? Temps are ok?

    • @newamericatowguy3633
      @newamericatowguy3633 Před 2 lety +2

      I'm running a MAX6 with the stock motor and surprisingly it seems to run cooler.

    • @MK-RC
      @MK-RC  Před 2 lety +1

      With the stock fans, motor and ESC everything is running at reasonable temperatures for me.
      If you can't hold your finger or hand against motor after a bashing session, then things are too hot. It's handy to have some spare 35MMx35MMx10MM fans on hand to replace them as the fan blades break when the chassis flexes.
