Billionaires should not exist, especially while others lack basic necessities. No-one can spend that much money in 10 lifetimes and no-one creates that much value - they grift it off the hard work of others.

When the Tories took power, despite Labour having to bail out the the unregulated banking system crash (unregulated by Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan). The national debt stood at 0.59 trillion, it is now standing at 2.5 Trillion that is 98% of GNP on the edge of bankrupcy. That equates to £37,900 for every resident of the UK. As Usual Labour will have to sort this mess out. But as usual once Labour have got this sorted out, the people will think they can afford to vote Tory again.

When the Israeli government issued a proclamation for world leaders to sign up too, Corbyn was the one pointing out that, in effect, the proclamation would make it antisemitic to even critisise any Israeli government actions. For a while he refused to sign up to it, but after pressure from the media, right-wing etc he relented. As I recall, James was one of those critical voices.

Oxfam: Since 2015, over £23 billion of UK arms have gone to Saudi Arabia for use against Yemen.
Our new report shows that the UK government is simply wrong to say our arms exports aren’t harming innocent civilians. In fact, UK arms sales are continuously fuelling the conflict in Yemen that has raged since 2015.
...and people wonder why the Yemeni Houthtis hate the UK. Perhaps Gaza was the last straw? I don't condone the Houthtis but I can see why this is happening now.

I am so angry I missed the show yesterday as I would have loved to wade in. The reason that both Starmer & Sunak are singing from the same hymn sheet is because it is the language of international diplomacy - trying to defuse and de-escalate an already highly volatile situation in Israel/Gaza by insisting the two are not related (regardless of whether or not they are). Talking everyone down from a situation where 4 or 5 parties are standing on a powder keg with a lit match by trying to dissociate the attacks on shipping from the ongoing conflict, is merely one attempt to achieve calm.

“I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey its owner’s manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”
Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him.

an American can use the term "milk toast" in conversation. The term "milquetoast," which is often spelled as "milk toast," refers to a person who is timid, unassertive, or spineless. It originated from a cartoon character named Caspar Milquetoast, created by H. T. Webster in the 1920s. The term has since entered common usage in American English to describe someone who lacks vigor or is overly submissive.

Your right of course. Fixed for spelling but I stand by my American usage of milk toast.

It’s shocking to me that you automatically assume what the houthies are telling the truth. I don’t know if they are or not but I sure won’t take their word for anything and it surprises me that you do.

You've been programmed to assume that anything said by a western source is far more reliable than that coming from elsewhere. In fact, it's quite clear that US and UK politicians lie day and night.
