Bassem Youssef is a comedian, author and political commentator from Egypt who now lives in the United States.

This guy is on point. I'm a jew and it's tragic to see our religion and culture used to justify an illegal genocidal occupation. It's also sad that most of my Jewish family will not talk to me if I say anything against the state of Israel. But obviously this is nothing compared to what Palestinians are going through

I would say that while the UK has a general political divide that is growing increasingly emulative of that in the US (Labour vs Conservative mirroring Democrat vs Republican) Scotland specifically is rather politically homogenous. Goes without saying it is a generally left-wing country, but as you will likely know the favourite pasttime of us on the left is arguing with each other! I suppose I was just curious to know what OP had to say about navigating something like that within the family unit.

The fact that Israel has to pay bribes to our politicians, almost all of them from both major parties through AIPAC was enough for me to never trust Israel. I mean should that not be a VERY BIG red flag to see why one side, presumably the righteous and God's chosen people had to pay so much to spread its lies? Many people might be seeing the reality from Oct 7th, but some of us knew Israel's role in King David Hotel bombings, Lavon Affair, USS Liberty, and many hospitals and worship places they have bombed. They always look to start a war by planning attacks and then blaming the other side.

Then Netanyahu was funding Hamas to overthrow the PLO because he did not want to create a two state solution where the Palestinians have their own state. There are videos of him saying that they need to fund and strengthen hamas. Once hands took over the PLO now the two state solution was no longer a problem because Netanyahu said that he cannot negotiate with terroristZ. The plan all along was for Palestine to not be an independent country and for Israel to expand.

I am from Tajikistan, its a small country in Central Asia. And there many so called jews who left my country and flew to Israel. Israeli government helped them a lot, taught them language, gave them job etc. I said “so called jews” because some of those people didn’t know that they were ethnical jews. Many generations of them were living in my country. And some of them considered themselves muslims. But when they got opportunity to go for better life they just took it. That happens all over the world.
The question is, why a random guy from small country in Central Asia can fly to Israel, take a passport and replace a Palestinian man who lived there just because he has some jewish roots?

I have a friend who was a born in Syria in 1994 to a Palestinian father and a Syrian mother. He was stateless because you do not get the Syrian citizenship if you have a palestinian refugee status. His father was already born in Syria. His grandfather was forced to leave Palestine and they still have the key to the grandfather's house. It is like a dream to him to go there and find the place. He lives now in Germany and has for the first time in his life a citizenship. It is really sad.

Amazing conversation! I’m a white American woman married to a Christian Palestinian for 30 years. I knew nothing about Palestine before I met my husband and I also wasn’t Christian - he led me to Christ. His family lost their land and homes in 1948 when Israel was created & they then got placed in a refugee camp in Lebanon. They fled to the US years later as refugees during a war in Lebanon and my husband was born here one month later. In 2014 we went to the West Bank with our children and in-laws for a heritage tour. As we approached an Israeli checkpoint an IDF soldier casually lifted up an automatic weapon and fired toward our bus. Then they stopped the bus and demanded our passports. Our driver protested the weapons fire and explained we were Americans and they said, “Do you think we care about Americans?” They also didn’t care about the 5 crying children in our van - they laughed at us. The callousness was shocking and it wasn’t the last time we experienced that sort of contempt. Don’t be fooled because they certainly don’t want Christians there either. The Israeli settlers are brutal, injuring and killing indiscriminately. Since 2014 we’ve been working with multi-faith aid groups to help with medical care and rebuilding what they continually demolish, just trying to stop more people from being displaced. Israel does a great job of misleading people in order to gain sympathy. Don’t get me wrong, what Hamas did was repugnant and barbaric. They are a well-funded (by Iran) terrorist group. But the vast majority of Palestinians are being used as pawns by various world powers and empires. Please listen to their stories as much as you can and pray for peace!
