I finally bought one and I'm really digging it. I really love the diamond pattern and texture of the scales. It gives the perfect amount of traction. The thin blade is a slicer but I'm confident the M4 is up to the task. So easy to carry too.

Benchmade did right by this knife for sure. Love the blade profile, the fact that it’s M4 and coated (I live in Seattle so corrosion can be an issue), and the fact that they were able to keep it lightweight without resorting to a cheap feeling handle material like FRN or Grivory.

Thanks for the content. As for Benchmade and Black class, I get it. I was a medic in the army for many years I carried a pocket knife all the time...for opening MREs, haha. But seriously they have some good tools that work great, very fitting for a soldiers pocket. On a side note while deployed I sadly often had cheap folding knive as yeah they mainly cut cordage and opened food. Always carried a really good fixed blade though just in case, but guns are always the better option. As I did two deployments as line medic with the infantry, the grunts made sure doc was well taken care doing all the deadly work leaving me for the saving. Benchmade did a product demonstration for the medics while I was at NTC and handed out free stuff even. That made me a fan and now I carry expensive food openers. Your right that glass breakers aren't necessary on a knife, most soldiers have plenty tools to break glass.

I’m watching reviews of this knife, trying to decide weather or not to get one. I’m really starting to love this knife, even the fact that it’s a tanto, which I generally pass on. It looks to have some belly, which is nice, rather than a strait edge. That glass breaker is annoying, coulda done without that, but keep the rest of the spacer. Incidentally, I’ve broken 4 springs, which made me quit on Benchmade for a while. I broke springs 3 times on my 940-2. I decided to get the 940bk, blade hq exclusive in m4, and surprise, I broke a spring on it. Yeah, the turn around on that sort of repair is reasonable, and I live in WA state, 2 hours from Benchmade, but it’s still annoying. Every one of my Benchmade’s have been flipped thousands of times, no broken springs. It seems I have bad luck with the 940 model.

So I just picked up this knife. I've always loved the way tanto style blades looked. But I think I like reverse tantos more now though. Anyway the m4 steel is great. So I just wasn't happy with the factory edge it was just too toothy. Anyway I just picked up a work sharp precision adjust sharpener because I can't afford and kme yet 59.99 was not bad. And let me tell you I'm a novice sharpener but I've seen enough of your videos and other guys and just went at it. I only sharpened the belly at 25° but let me tell you I got it hair popping sharp. It took me a while. Maybe an hour or so but I just honed it with the 600 diamond and the ceramic honing stone and just went to town. It came out amazingly sharp. So if your afraid of sharpening at all just do it. You can if I can you can. Thanks metal complex your fucking awesome.

Picked one up, the aluminum is amazing. The opening is just slick. It drops shut so easy. The steel came with a burr from the factory but it popped right off on a fine spyderco stone. Looking at replacing the glass breaker/lanyard loop with a flush tailcap, but other than that, it's fabulous for a slim/light kahniff. It's not a heavy use knife, it's not going to replace the pm2 in my life, but it's fabulous if you want something less... aggressive.

While DLC coatings don't provide perfectly consistent rust prevention for all steels in all environments/circumstances, there are WIDELY varying reports on the benefits both from manufacturers and end users. There's an endless amount of information about this topic online. Seems like everyone's experience is slightly different.

I was on the fence about the glass breaker, I didn't necessarily care for it but it was unique and didn't really bother me either so I left it. I used my glass breaker to see how well it worked and it and it sheared off the bosses that come through the frame with the threads for the end screws. It wedged the aluminum breaker housing down into the scales and the bump out gouged the scales on either side. The backspacer also buried itself in the tip of the blade. To the credit of the blade, with the tanto and the M4 it shows no evidence and the tip is sharp as ever, but it took out a BB sized chunk of aluminum out of the backspacer. Definitely not intended to be actually used. That sealed it for me, I got a Rockscale Graphite titanium backspacer and it matches the blade color quite well, also much more comfortable in the hand. To anyone thinking about it I would do it, there's no benefit to keeping the breaker beyond aesthetics and it does improve the feel in hand.

Is there anything easier to do than tighten the screws of a pocket clip?

@@allemander Nope, if it was just a bit too loose (side tot side wiggle) I would've agreed, but in this case the clip didn't had a proper fit and there was a gap from about 1 mm between the clip and the scales.
