- Follow up to Macross (Robotech) our Rendezvous video, addressing some issues with the models.
Another of our favorite mecha in the early 80's. Robotech the Macross Saga. Ship and Mech designs were amazing. Especially the variable fighter VF-1 Valkyrie. Should be interesting to see sometime in the future Battletech's unseen Phoenix LAM mech and the Transformers G1 Skyfire (toy) animated alongside the Robotech VF-1 since they share the same design.

Macross (マクロス, Makurosu, English: /məˈkrɒs/) is a Japanese science fiction mecha anime media franchise/media mix, created by Studio Nue (most prominently mecha designer, writer and producer Shōji Kawamori) and Artland in 1982. The franchise features a fictional history of Earth and the human race after the year 1999, as well as the history of humanoid civilization in the Milky Way. It consists of four TV series, four movies, six OVAs, one light novel, and five manga series, all sponsored by Big West Advertising, in addition to 40 video games set in the Macross universe, 2 crossover games, and a wide variety of physical merchandise.

Hopefully they bring this back soon. I heard the licensing agreement was met but still no news. This artwork is superb. Keep up the good work.

This is why the Macross was so riveting, because they were often outnumbered, outgunned and always on the edge.
The Veritech fighters while powerful were often pinned down and crushed. This made Rick and their victory even more amazing.
Now that was awesome. Looking forward to watching more. Thank you.

Awesome clip, props for putting time into it. I didn’t see any casualties on the RDF side. That would have made it more true to the series. Other than that and the other minor errors others have pointed out, it’s pretty cool. I've been watching Macross and Robotech since the 80’s, still waiting for the live action movie.
O please, O please O PLEASE, may we have more Robotech from this channel? This is just BEAUTIFUL.
Although it looks animated that proves we have the technology to make a really good "live-action" Robotech movie. However, I'd also be find with a remake of the original series using this type of animation. This would be one property I would mind a simple remake, retelling the story using improved animation. They can even change it a little making it a mixture of remake and re-imagined. Macross is one franchise that has been ignored for too long and needs to be revived for a new generation of fans, as well, for existing fans.

Imagine this, but with a 200 million dollars budget.
This very well done. Aside from nitpicks like the FAST packs and weapon's loadout, this was a treat for the eyes. Felt like a real military operation, just with giant mecha.
In his defense jets like the F-15 have FAST packs they equip and I think the D or E model ( the 2 seater fighter bomber version) actually has them permanently fitted. I believe an F-16 model has permanently fitted FAST packs too
@@matthewcaughey8898 Problem is that Macross FAST Pack technology is for deep space use as it adds extra vernier thrusters as well as drive thrust. In the atmosphere, they actually cause flight problems due to the extra mass and drag.
@@danielhaire6677 but a good pilot should be able to compensate for that and actually use the increased thrust for enhanced dodging and rapid direction changes. Plus the massive increase in missile armament will be able to give a fighter the firepower of a heavy destroyer
@@matthewcaughey8898 There's actually a limit to how much you can compensate for when the top modules are not designed to be aerodynamic. That's why in the animes the FAST Packs are usually ejected in space before entering atmosphere. The only exception is usually the lower side and near engine packs as the are lower profile. The top packs do add several high maneuverability micro missiles and the lower leg packs are often medium range missiles
@@danielhaire6677 point is it’s enough firepower to justify the headaches in maneuvering. Another good example was the BF-109G models. They often carried 2 extra 20mm cannons in underwing pods to make up for the E and F model’s in wing guns. Some pilots felt they impeded maneuvering, others felt the extra firepower made up for the mild loss of maneuverability. I know that the 109G series was perilously light on firepower with just 2 machine guns and 1 30mm gun. Once your in a fight ammo don’t last long anyways so I figure a VF-1 pilot lugging the FAST packs would deploy the missiles as soon as he had lock then jettison packs after discharging his ordnance

@@koungendo6371 well not if you play battlecry. The FAST packs saved my ass in a few missions. Here’s the cheat, play a space mission and equip them, then don’t change fighters when you do an atmo mission. Boom FAST packs with their own onboard missile massacre still mounted to your VF-1
@@matthewcaughey8898 given that games rarely get matched up canon wise with a story, it's just a gimmick of the game rather than fact. Sorry it's time to move past such arguements

敵に後ろを取られた時にガウォーク形態に変形して急減速して回避、そのまま落下してバトロイド形態になって、上空の敵にガンポッドで撃ちまくるとか作って欲しい。

ファイター時の（バトロイド時背面ブースター）部分の修正がされて良いですね、パーソナルカラーが部隊カラーなのと大気圏内スーパーパック装着はまぁ置いといて、反応弾装備（対地爆弾扱い？）だわ空力無視の箱型ミサイルポッド装備、超至近距離でのミサイル発射、単機に対し至近ミサイル４発発射とか、ほぼ無意味なガウォーク変形等、演出で残念感が出てしまってもったいないと思う。
I could nitpick also, but my love of my across is too great. Well done!
The camera moves of the animated macross is a huge part of the genre. It's definitely a major part of the attraction. A lot of work went into this. If it was reworked a little paying attention to try and copy some of the choreography, the reception we would be even higher. Also, the futz distortion over the pilot's voices is too heavy. You have to compromise a little for clarity. Hope to see more

既にみんなツッコんでるけど、まずスーパーパック付けるなら一部は宇宙から降下して最初の一斉射でパージする感じが良いと思う。
次にガンポッドは例の「ヴウウウウウウン」っていう射撃音（伝わるかな？）にして欲しかった。
あと空中戦でガウォーク形態はそのまま飛ぶだけなら要らないので、追撃された時に変形して急ブレーキ掛けて追い抜けさせたところを後ろから攻撃するとか、意味のある使い方して欲しい。
地上戦なら横スライド移動で射撃するとかねｗ
ミサイルが板野してないし…ガウォーク変形時の減速も表現できていないし、ダメダメですね。
ガンポッドの発射音は聞きたいね。
急激な挙動による回避からの攻撃は期待したいけど、実際に出来るかは疑問かな、パイロットの身体が持たない。
ま、そこは気にしちゃいけない所なんだろうけどね。
その辺は後から出て来る動画に期待したいかな。

設定とか演出で色々言いたいことはあるけど・・・・
作者さんは単純にバルキリーとかが、飛行して、武器ぶっ放して、変形して、ってシーンを造りたかったんじゃないかな？
原作が当時としては相当リアル風味の上、手書きで板野サーカスとか頭おかしいレベルでやりまくったから、マクロスっていうと期待値が上がるのも無理からぬかも。
フォッカー機は一機で十分

Very late to the party but that single vf-25 Messiah would be able to take on that entire horde all on it's own, *alone*. Like pitting a bunch of fishbeds (1st-2nd gen fighter) against a raptor (5th generation).
Nice animation however.
I like the ambition of the project - proof that you're a true fan! But I'd have to call you on 2 things: 1) mixing in original Macross with Macross Frontier fighters spoils the narrative. 2) your gerwalk motions in flight are to awkward - leg positioning/motion is critical to show motions of flying forward
I hope the real robotech movie can use this ideas. The footage is so good!!!!

Who cares if it's not 100% accurate. What I'm seeing here, would get me in a movie theater in a heartbeat. While I was too young for the original Robotech, I did read the novels, and this clip really brings it to life.

Pretty cool! I'll take any Robotech related animation. However, the battlepod flight physics are all wrong. They can only do short hops in atmosphere.
