- Macross (マクロス, Makurosu) is a Japanese science fiction mecha anime media franchise/media mix, created by Studio Nue (most prominently mecha designer, writer and producer Shōji Kawamori) and Artland in 1982. The franchise features a fictional history of Earth and the human race after the year 1999, as well as the history of humanoid civilization in the Milky Way. It consists of four TV series, four movies, six OVAs, one light novel, and five manga series, all sponsored by Big West [ja], in addition to 40 video games set in the Macross universe, two crossover games, and a wide variety of physical merchandise.

Problem with movie is you may have to make changes and drop certain things that would turn the movie into a train wreck. For example live action star blazers was colossal disappointment
Probably least problematic is for Amazon or Netflix to pickup live action series

@@SpockBorg5Star Blazers was released in Japan, wasn't a international. The film may have had limited and select release in the states and other countries.

The animation is absolutely top notch!
Only thing I might add some emphasis too is the thrust exhaust on launch; the size of the burn should be a bit larger. I worked the flight line for the US Navy and the very first time I went onto the flight deck at night, I saw an F-14 Tomcat from VF-84 (the Jolly Rogers) light up the night as it went to full afterburners for a cat launch off the Theodore Roosevelt.
Otherwise, I'm begging you guys to remake Robotech with this degree of animation!
That moment when the deck falls away and you realize the Valkyrie just took off from SDF-1's arm. That was a jaw dropping, beautiful thing.

Love it! I still have this, it was released as a Transformer “Jetfire”, it’s was also the Phoenix Hawk in Battletech. It’s about 10-11 inches tall and can be in any of the three modes. Very cool video!

I love the VF-1 Valkyrie jets fight when I was a kid but then as I grow up I realized these planes were based on the F14s variable sweep wing design so those missiles and launchers attached to the moving wing seems weird for me now. But still great work in making this video
The pylons for weapons under variable wings rotate so the weapons are Always pointing the right way
Same. Looking at them in fighter mode in this video's with an adult's eye and the Veritech looks awfully back heavy.
The FB-111 Aardvark had similar variable-sweep wings, and its underwing stores did rotate with the sweep changes.

..or much better than this, ..at least this a is reasonalbe 'base-line' to be aimed to equal and to surpass, but as this is, it would be a very good 'roughing out' storyboard animation ;¬P
I know the chain gun wielded by Veritech Alphas was superior, but damn there's just something about the gatling gun on the OG Veritechs that I adore. Reminds me too much of the GAU-8, I suppose. Another fantastic video; keep it up!

The Landing gears are wrong, the Valkyries were based off the Tomcat not the Mig landing gear wise. Other then that great job on the visuals.

To see the entire series done, that is all the novels including the sentinels series and final novel "The End of the Circle" (as I recall the title); it wraps up the entire series (and learn why the Macross stardrive disappeared).

Your lighting work has improved substantially, are you using UE5?
If I may offer some polite critique - I think think you need to introduce some irregularities in your movement - both the veritechs and "camera" are (supposedly) being operated by humans, and our movements/reactions are almost never that smooth & regular. Adding some "twitch & jitter" will go a long way to making things feel more natural.

Nit picking the weather brief... Overcast skies, but the video shows broken layers, but not complete coverage. Also, there are clouds below the takeoff point. Just saying overcast or broken skies is useless. The pilot would need to know the height of the cloud bases. A possible brief would be like "sky condition is broken with bases at 045 below, ceiling at 100, and 250." "Winds at 25 knots" is nearly 30mph, or using the Beaufort Scale, the high end of a 6 categorized as a "Strong Breeze". Enough to make umbrellas difficult to use. Additionally, wind speed without direction is useless. A crosswind on takeoff can cause serious issues. The brief should have said "winds are 145 at 25 knots". There isn't any mention of temperature, dew point, or altimeter setting. There isn't any point in saying "no weather anomolies" since there aren't any weather anomolies to report. If there were, then it would be transmitted as "be advised there is light chop at 040".

Butt I feel true, Dr.Phobos understands that small details, the little things are usually what annoys or breaks the immersion in a otherwise great story & film.
The more realistical small things there can be in a seemingly irrelevant pasts/background, the peripheral of focus, core of the story, and plot etc, the camera shot, the audio, as a nod to mundane reality of aspects of minor details within existence and creating a strong plot, the more plausible the otherwise incredulous science-fantasy apsects can become from erstwhile dilligence in details, making the difference between an okay film, a good film or a great film.
Such as the in military and aviation life, those details Are important, and there are methods, procedures and common conventions in alerting and informing air-crew/pilots of them. Similarly in tactical scenes, you don't have the troops milling around as if they were shopping in a supermarket, on a battlefield, unless it is a really really bad film.
Waiting for them to do to Macross what they did to Ace Combat. That'd be a blast.
If you want the feel of being in OG Robotech, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotech:_Battlecry has that feel. It uses the cell shading that was just becoming popular to hide the CGI deficits and make it feel more like watching anime at the same time. Even has that wonderful feeling when you get to do anime missile bursts. At the same time, you get the actual threat concerns of being a veritech pilot that needs to be cautious and skilled.
The belly gun should be in the closed position FYI.

Overall, animation was good. Good movement and sense of space, reflections looked great. Textures were on point.
Sadly, it lost any sense of speed or drama on launch. Takeoff roll was way too long, and the exhaust could have been more dramatic. Take a look at real carrier ops for the sped of it. The stop in front of the nose gear was odd. Brakes are sufficient to hold back full burner. If you flip it around and attach to a nose hook, you can give it a catapult assist and it will look cleaner and justify the faster acceleration you’d need in a quicker takeoff shot. If you want to extend the end, just show from multiple angles with the big revel top down being last
Dialogue was a bit wonky. Lots of babble and most of it didn’t fit or didn’t mean anything in context. You don’t get a mission briefing as you’re rolling out.
Overall, really good. Room for improvement. But better than a lot of AA studios.
If this was at 60fps, maybe, but I prefer the original Robotech trilogy (Macross being the first) that were hand drawn and had fluidity. CGI-ing it aka 3D rendering just looks so.... fake? These new rendering engines make everything look like a video game and they use it now so many times with movies that people think that's how it's supposed to look from trees to cars to explosions. Want realism? Track down the early rendering engines from like Jurassic Park and move forward until your stuff starts looking like cheap plastic and then stop, back up one rev. and then start rendering. Also, not sure why people in the comments keep calling this Star Blazers. It is not. This is Robotech as aired in the US. Macross was the first series of three. I remember this from childhood, not sure why so many people are getting this confused.

With them selling all these ps1 titles on ps5 they need to release all the psp macross titles that didn't make it into America on the ps5 I have heard there at least 5 and this was just on psp. Now that macross and Robotech are being more friendly I would buy one.
Now if they replaced the mighty tomcats with these instead of gay f35s it would have been worth the upgrade I love this fighter awesome thanks for your video

The GU-11 gunpod is supposed to be collapsed when stored under the Valkyrie. But that’s just a nitpick. I can’t make videos like this, and I’m sure it take a lot of time to get every single little detail right. Great job!

So...why are they using carrier launch systems when they can just go into hybrid mode, vertically take off, and then instantly dart off?
Because the valkyrie form is for speed. In the time it would take to hover to position, they would have already launched. Then you have to get multiple jets out. A dozen pilots coordinating the same small space to get elevation and vector away, or they can scramble behind each other with a smaller forward profile.
@@bryanwoods3373 True, but take into account they have to be brought up on an elevator to the flight deck to take off, rather than, say, opening a series of doors on the sides and letting them step out, convert in-air, and dart off. Then it's more like paratroopers jumping out of an airplane than launching 4 fighters off a carrier, putting 4 more up, launching them, and repeating until you're empty.
