You can do it in less time by just cooking it on stove top. After you have fried the chicken, discard most of the oil, stir fry the veggies, pour the mixed sauce, let boil then put the fried chicken back in. Will take you less than 10min😊
Laura, i always love your food, but just to give you a little suggestion. As a girl from Hong Kong, i would suggest you to cook the source in the pan first and pour the chicken together at the end and stir for just a min. This will make the chicken more crispy rather than soggy😍
Ya I’m surprised she let it cook and soak in the sauce for that long. It defeats the purpose of frying it until it’s crispy because the oven stage makes it soggy.
Just made this tonight and it was delicious! The chicken wasn’t soggy, just not as crispy. My family said it tasted way better and fresher than takeout but still definitely tasted like the real deal. Loved it! Made it with rice and broccoli
This way the chicken will not be as crispy as it should be.. Just use a skillet to sauté them together with high heat really quickly, let the sauce cover the crispy chicken and veggies it’ll be phenomenal.
Listen to Laura’s advice and cook in the oven...I made it for the first time and it is AMAZING!!! That hour in the oven really melds all the flavors together and it doesn’t get soggy at all! My family is begging for me to make it again!
I made this dish tonight and it was delicious! Once the dish comes out of the oven the chicken is soft, but not soggy:) I enjoyed it a lot more this way as the chicken melts in your mouth! My husband loved it!!! He is thrilled we have left overs so he can do it all again tomorrow:) Thank you for sharing!
Love Laura. I like this recipe, but not so much the method. I like my chicken crispy...so will try frying then baking the chicken in the oven alone. Making the sauce on the stove and then combining the two at the end.
Laura I saw the video last evening and made today. I followed your oven directions. This recipe was perfect! It was excellent! I will be making next week again for my grandsons!
Doing the recipe tonight for dinner..I had no idea you could fry with cornstarch...which wonderful cause we have a flour free home. 😀it was wonderful. One thing I whiched is I cooked it all on the stove
Dear Laura, you've never let me down! Once again an amazing recipe! Thank you! Greetings from Cyprus! Update: I have made this both in the oven and not! I have to say that in the oven it turns out much more delicious! For once again Thank's!!!
I just made this and it was delicious!! Surprised myself! Thank you Laura!! But because I didn't have much time I cooked the chicken with the sauce on the stove and not the oven, still wonderful!!
I love your videos but I feel like 45 mins in the oven is in unnecessary step. Cook chicken all the way during frying. Thicken the sauce by corn starch. And toss everything in the heat for like 1-2 mins that should do it.
I made this and it was deee-licious. I thought the vinegar was overwhelming (after I poured it in) so I enhanced the recipe w/ 8 oz of pineapple cubes (straight from the can - juice and all). Ummmm good! You do you, boo! :)
I wonder if the chicken got all soft with that sauce? Doesn’t seem to have any cripsiness. I personally enjoy a crisp to my chicken even when it’s smothered in whatever sauce.
Yes, seems like soggy fried chicken. There's got to be a way to thicken the sauce on the stove top, and then pour over the fully fried and crispy chicken pieces before serving.
To avoid that, just cook the sauce on the stove with a little corn starch in water to really get it thick, then pour it over the crsipy chicken and it's done.
Bruh I just made this. I used pork and carrots and chayote. I also used cornflour slurry as my thickening agent. I didn't bake them at all. But they are fantastic.👌
Its my birthday tomorrow, usually hubby and i get takeout, but i am totally doing this instead. Looks so much more delicious than the takeout place yum.
This looks much better than what I’ve had in restaurants-I’m just never sure about the chicken pieces-I’ve had gristle (?) before when eating chicken pieces.
If you want the crisp to stay there (I think thats part if the tastiness haha) sauté your protein and when almost done you pour sauce to let cook for last few min
@@mike856ms so how do you do it to keep it crispy, stir-fry with veggies and the sauce after frying the chicken? I was skeptical about the oven as well.
if you cook it on the bottom rack uncovered and constantly toss as recommended it comes out pretty crispy. Also, I use the "roast" or Broil option on my oven to help me make crispy yummy chicken
i never get why one would make something crispy to then make it soggy ... i'd rather make my chicken seperate... but i'm surely gonna try the sauce part
Your written recipe doesn't mention white sugar or the quantity. However, in your video, you have white sugar and Brown sugar in which you mention. Please clarify. Thank you.
By putting chicken and sauce in oven doesn’t the chicken lose it’s crispiness? Could you just cook sauce and veggies on stove until it thickens and then pour over chicken when you it it?

I will have to try that. Thanks for the idea

I don't know what I like better, Laura's recipes or her reaction when she tastes the food.
This way the chicken will not be as crispy as it should be.. Just use a skillet to sauté them together with high heat really quickly, let the sauce cover the crispy chicken and veggies it’ll be phenomenal.
That was my first thought. But one has to try it her way just to see what her version tastes like :)

Laura I saw the video last evening and made today. I followed your oven directions. This recipe was perfect! It was excellent! I will be making next week again for my grandsons!
I put pineappple, fresh ginger, carrots in mine. Serve over rice. So much better than a restaurant. Only thing I miss its the egg roll I get there.
This recipe turned out soooooooo delicious
I did it tonight and it was amazing. Will do it again for sure
This is my second time cooking this dish; great recipe 😋!!
You are phenomenal Laura in the Kitchen and so is this recipe!

@@TinaRice4 yes. 🙂
@@jeraldbrianrelos449 Thanks, that's what I thought! 😃
I did this with fried tofu that I tossed in the sauce and ate right away and it was AMAZING. Like we could bo believe how good this was. 10/10!!!
I always made my sweet and sour chicken like this with a few small changes. It’s so good. Best chicken I ever made in my life. Please try it!
Just started cooking and so glad I found your channel I’ve just made this meal for myself and my two girls we all loved it, I’m hooked now 😀 thankyou

I know what I'm having for dinner next week. This came out looking beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Laura!
I was just craving this last night and watched all your other Asian recipes! 🤣 Love you Laura!
Omg just tried this tonight! It was so good!!!
I love your videos but I feel like 45 mins in the oven is in unnecessary step. Cook chicken all the way during frying. Thicken the sauce by corn starch. And toss everything in the heat for like 1-2 mins that should do it.
exactly. i don't get why you would make a 90minute recipe from a 20 minute recipe and then end with soggy chicken...
I agree..
My hubby's favorite too! Yum! Thanks Laura! Looks delicious! Love the oven tip!
Laura we want a broccoli, rice and cheese casserole recipe 😭😭😭
I literally was thinking the same thing... crazy!!!
Yes!!!!
Yessssss!!!!!!!!!!!!
No we don't🤣
Laura my 8 year old grandson, Joel made this wonderful recipe yesterday!
Better than take out! Made it for Sunday dinner! 😋
Mmmm,,,,can you do Orange Chicken?
gordon Bishoff She already did. But it wasn’t the crispy Panda Express kind. It was more like Teriyaki chicken.
Thank you
Her orange chicken recipe is fantastic. I make it every week!
Thankyou
it's on the CZcams search
That looked really good. Normally you would use Carrots for the Sweet but the Peppers are a nice alternative. I will make this,
I love your cooking girl.... keep up the great work

Yes, seems like soggy fried chicken. There's got to be a way to thicken the sauce on the stove top, and then pour over the fully fried and crispy chicken pieces before serving.
Indeed, sweet and sour chicken is meant to be dipped and not cooked with the sauce, that's how it maintains the crispiness.
To avoid that, just cook the sauce on the stove with a little corn starch in water to really get it thick, then pour it over the crsipy chicken and it's done.
Oh wow I had no idea how much I needed this !!!! Thank you 😊
I make sweet and sour pork (boneless loin) and I love adding pineapple chunks or mandarin orange slices!
I was just looking for a recipe for home made sweet and sour chkn thanks!!
love the videos, straight to the cooking thank you.
You look amazing. How about a video on your skin regimine? Chicken looks delish.
Great recipe! I HIGHLY recommend using boneless skinless chicken thighs- it will come out juicier and more tender !
This literally made my mouth water! 😋
Bruh I just made this. I used pork and carrots and chayote. I also used cornflour slurry as my thickening agent. I didn't bake them at all. But they are fantastic.👌
So glad you uploaded again. First one didn't work for me. You rock

I love sweet and sour chicken and that looks LEGIT!! The cooking dish is cool too BTW :)
Hey laura just an idea .. Can you pls do a "real time recipe" just something quick and easy. Btw love you !
This looks much better than what I’ve had in restaurants-I’m just never sure about the chicken pieces-I’ve had gristle (?) before when eating chicken pieces.
Nice. I can use better pieces than what they use and serve in the restaurant
Omg! That looks soooo good!!! Can you make an Egg Custard pie? I’d love to get a good recipe for one!

Omg this is hysterical

Ive always cooked the sauce separately from the chicken but this way looks easier. I really like to use pineapple in mine too.
Cousin Laura! This looks better than all the carry out I’ve had lol
Yesss.. one of the chicken recipes im waiting for by laura
Looks so good Laura!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😁

Love your look in this 😍
LOVE YOU LAURA!
One of my favorite dishes 🔥
Does the chicken coating get soggy when put in the oven with the sauce?
Of course it does. I've made sweet n sour chicken 100's of times. No way it's crispy baked in the oven. This BS
@@mike856ms you didn't try it this way

is there much of a difference when using apple cider vinegar or does it turn out virtually the same? I may make this tomorrow!!
