Madden NFL 10 was a mediocre but still fun Madden game (that you could argue was the beginning of the end) #retrospective #SOFTDRINKTV #game #review #sdtv
I recently bought Madden 10 and one thing that surprised me was the stat tracking. I played as Peyton Manning and was down in the 4th quarter and it would mention how many career comebacks Manning had. Or when I got close to breaking the passing TD record, a blurb would pop up saying the QB needs X amount of TDs to break the record.
Our standards as a community have fallen so far because Madden literally has an entire generation that never played the PS2/Xbox games. There is literally an entire generation that has nothing to base current games on, other than the new Era of madden
Same can said about how the gaming industry is now. So many people think its okay for devs to drop a shit game and flood it with microtransactions. Buy now; fix it later.
Bro the shit is so crazy lol like they missed the golden time of gaming lol and really think this micro transaction shitt game but just good graphics shit is what we supposed to be accustomed to LMAO bro stg I play my 360 & PS2 more than my PS4 And I have fun playing p4 but shit gets boring if I'm not playing online with friends. I could play PS2 & 360 for hours on without another player playing with me lol
same, just like nhl, has also fallen off hard because nhl ea literally has an entire eighth and nine generation that never played ps3, 360 games, even 2k nhl series. there is literally an entire generation that has nothing to base already dead series on.
Crazy world we live in when all we want in 2022 is for a football game with All Pro Football 2k8 gameplay, ESPN NFL 2K5 halftime, and Madden 06 franchise. Think about that.
Lol, that’s crazy you just uploaded this, cuz I’ve been playing the game all week. Most underrated Madden of all-time. Online play was so competitive. This Madden had the best presentation ever!
we need Madden 11 next. Had so much fun with that game. From the way the game began to the way the game played allowing anything to happen any given Sunday, to the Chris Collinsworth ang Gus Johnson commentary, to create a team, to pre-game chants to everything else
Not to mention added features like GameFlow, game plan, and simpler controls with the right stick. The intro itself has never failed to pump me up for football.
This was my first next Gen madden that I got for my 10th birthday. My favorite aspect about the game was the soundtrack and the franchise mode. The soundtrack was the BEST I have ever heard when it comes to Madden games 😭. I still listen to it consistently when I go to the gym.
it was above average. had create-a-team......madden moments.....was a bit slow and clunky, but it was just before the VC boom hit, so wasn't hammering us with MUT. AND it had that awesome AFL legacy mode with AFL uniforms (also referees) and that grainy broadcast presentation, which was so cool.
Yes AFL mode was in Madden NFL 10 as DLC. It was a mode that was in Madden NFL 11 and Madden NFL 12 as a regular game mode and not DLC compared to Madden NFL 10 which is probably why no one knows that AFL mode started in this game.
Nah, this is crazy. I still go back and play this Madden more than any other besides 09. Franchise mode still had some great features, drafting was fun, you could trade for any player, and the extra point was a great new show added for additional context and Emerson. The game play was still good enough and relatively balanced
I still go back to 06. It's missing some features that would be really nice, like trading for future picks, but you can't beat the vision cone; you can't beat getting a pick on defense by reading the QB's eyes.

Madden 10 was probably the most I spent on a madden game, I remember playing it with my dad and we would just have a blast going against each other. Playing alone still had enough to keep you engaged and kept your attention but truly playing with your friends or family is were it stood out the most
This was the only Madden game I had growing up because my family couldn’t afford anything else. I played this game until madden 16 game out, and I do not regret it. Such a underrated game.
This game was soo good. Played it for years. Reminds me of the good old middle school days playing black ops 1 and such. Man where these great times. I'd do anything to go back to this time for just a hour.
Madden 10 saw the return on referees on the field. They didn't exist in 06-09, though Ed Hochuli did show up in 09 to announce penalties, there were no refs or chain gangs until 10.
Being completely honest, I never noticed Ultimate Team on this game. I loved the franchise mode and other features though. Definitely my last favorite Madden. 👌🏿👌🏿
Literally 09-12 are the only maddens I play now, still trying to get my hands on a ps2 to play my favorite madden 07 with my absolute favorite feature in franchise mode “The Tony Bruno Show”
Madden 10 was a great game. One of the few Madden titles that made defense very prominent. With the massive hit sticks giving you a chance to force fumbles to making offenses fight and claw for every inch. This game felt like what a real NFL game would be like.
I loved the draft classes. I was pissed off when I found out they took the import feature away from the NCAA series. What I found was the back stories connected me to these handful of players each draft class. In Madden 22 I have zero connection and every class fells the same. If gameplay is not the best then you have to have other features, like draft classes, that the gamer can connect with. We all wanted the Jack English draft in year 1.
I played Madden 10 so much. I did a franchise of 32 created teams that went all the way to 2020. Was so bummed when they took creation mode out of the game.
Online franchise was a lot of fun. I remember about 6 or 7 us did one in Madden 10. It was unbelievably fun getting to the point we had two undefeated teams showdown mid season in what effectively felt like a huge prime time match up.
Last madden I had til madden 13. Remembered being in 6th grade before this dropped and everyone was wondering is it going to be Madden 010, Madden 10, or Madden 2010. I miss those days where I created my own 32 team league and acted as if I was the commissioner. Really was the last good madden for non-online players
Agreed on all counts. I bought my 360 in the summer of 2007 just as I entered high school. I bought Madden 08 and 09 brand new - utterly embarrassing. I couldn't get through a game without getting frustrated at how it played. 08 the players had no momentum & could turn on a dime, and in 09 the UI was atrocious and the field had a blue tint to it. 10 was the first Madden that felt like they were onto something. The presentation I remember played a big role - like you said, the NBC style graphics package and tons of little cutscenes/animations in between each play made it feel like a proper football game. Then Ultimate team happened lmfao.
You can turn off fight for the fumble so it's a bit more realistic to who gets the ball first! Ooooo i think those gang tackles look really awesome after playing newer maddens, so many players bringing someone down and kinda cool seeing teammates trying to push you
Madden 10 was my first madden on ps3 and I remember the graphics would blow me away. When I was gifted it for my birthday I couldn’t believe I finally had my hands on it and it’ll have a place in my heart forever.
This Madden was so underrated. The presentation was great. I found they slowed the game down and gave it more balance between offense and defense. I found this was the first Madden in awhile to put an emphasis on defense and running making it less arcade-ish.
The Pro Tak feature wasn't well implemented. But it was a potential good foundation. Instead they canned it, but left the issues from it in the game. If they let the team at the time actually work on things with that, it could have worked out well and we'd be in a different state now
Unpopular Opinion: I liked the "fight for the fumble" feature. It was a good initiative to simulate what is fighting for a fumble under a pile. Now, I admit I dropped buying Madden every year after Madden 12.
This was my favorite one mane! I created me and my boys at QB, RB, and 2 WRs and broke/set records on Franchise mode. Superstar mode was my other go to.
Ah yes, my first Madden. My Grandpa and I actually played this together and I was too young to understand the rules and just loving how hard hitting it was. Every time I would go over and stay there for a few days, we would always play one game. When they were moving out of their old house, he found it. Which was not too long ago and asked if I’d like to have it. Yeah it has that broken feeling, but I’ll always remember it.
I do remember the game being "kinda easy" too, In that I could use the same curl routes and middle crossing routes and get at least 1 of 3 WR or TE open. I also knew absolutely nothing about football back then lol. After watching tho, I kinda want to play the PS3 version again.
Madden 06-09 were progressively less terrible. Madden 10 was playable but still worse than PS2. Madden 11 was really 10.5 Madden 12 was really good. Madden 13 was what happened when EA began a two year project and released what they had accomplished half way through. Madden 25 (14) was the conclusion of that two year project and - while flawed - is the best Madden. Gameplay, custom playbooks, and the best franchise mode ever.
Madden 10 was my favorite Madden I played as a kid. Probably because you could create a team filled with all of the NFL legends like Dan Fouts and Walter Payton(my go to QB and RB combo).
Ps2 game of that madden is one of the greatest with the mini games where you play fantasy leagues to unlock teams like kickers and monsters and many other teams that was my favorite growing up
To me Madden 10 was one of the best Maddens made in the 2010s. The slower gameplay really made gameplay feel realistic. I even respect the fight for fumble . The visuals were nice. But the gameplay head to head was pretty nice . Madden 10-12 Gameplay wise was very fun to play in its prime.
Looking back at these old maddens it’s crazy how little difference you see amongst them all in the last decade except for a glossier graphical upgrade.
You do it well man. Growing up I was amazed how my mom could cook several things for dinner and serve them all at the same time hot and delicious. I still haven't learned that skill after 50+ years on earth. Your videos do this. Good on you bro! Keep them coming. Sorry if I sound like a suck ass but good is good you know?
Madden 10 was the best of all time Madden 11 was the beginning of The end... Hes only 23 compared to me being almost 40 and having played and owned every Madden ever to that point.. Madden 10 was the best ever
@@vintage3262 I’m only 17, but I agree. My dad had played Madden since they were on arcade machines, (same as you, I assume) and so I’ve played most of them since 05’. When Madden 10 came out, I played hundreds of hours on it. Even when Madden 11, Madden 12, and especially Madden 13 (Madden 13 is the worst Madden) came out I still played Madden 10. The create a team, was my favorite feature.
The very first madden i ever bought. (Pretty much i had 2k5 and used it until i got the Xbox 360 and bought madden on sale) a great game indeed, plenty of features that i wish modern games would have (especially playing in older super bowl venues such as 42 and 43 given that on that year 44 was the sb to come) Was only mad about the afl legacy mode and achievements being behind a paywall 🙄🙄
I had played Madden on the PS2, but when I got my Xbox 360 this was the first Madden I got and I loved it. I still do like it a lot, but I usually play Madden 11 and 12. Madden 11 is basically just 10, but the graphics are slightly better and has slightly smoother gameplay. Madden 10-13 all hold a special place for me though. Madden 10 like I said before was my first one on the Xbox 360 and was the first game I ever beat one of my friends in. Madden 11 I bought the first time I drove to town by myself after I got my license, I drove to town specifically to go to Gamestop to buy it lol even though my mom told me not to drive all the way into town. Madden 12 was actually the first Madden I had when it was the current game out. I had just got my first job and finally had more money than I was used to, so naturally I wanted to get the newest Madden out. Especially since it was the first time in awhile the Chiefs were rated kinda decent, because they had just went 10-6 with Matt Cassel the year before. Then finally Madden 13 was the first one I ever pre-ordered and bought at launch, I actually went to the midnight launch party for it at Gamestop. One thing I did really like about Madden 13, it added the ability to press the right trigger to cancel the handoff animation while doing a play-action pass. Anyways love retrospectives on all the sports games, keep up the good work man.
this was the first real "next gen" madden from the 360/ps3 era. it was slower but protak felt great and it was very hard to go back to madden 09 after this came out.
I remember 10 year old me cheating and creating a god tier team in franchise mode and i scored about 200 point and the game would just say something along the lines of “stop scoring you are going to break the game” and it always cracked me up. My first madden game and i’ll honestly say after madden 11, it’s my favorite.
This was the final Madden game I've played in season/franchise mode. Played it for the 2010 NFL season. I don't mind it because it has playable legends, good amount of throwback uniforms and it was the first Madden game that you can customize uniforms on NFL teams. Looking back at it now, it's not as good as the earlier games (on Mega Drive, PC and the original Xbox). After I stopped playing the newer Madden games, I moved on to NFL 2K beginning in the 2011 NFL season.
I grew up playing Madden 11, and literally every single thing about that game looks identical to Madden 10. The presentation. The scoreboard. The screen design. The Extra Point. Ultimate Team. The gameplay animation. The gameplay itself. All the features. The main menu. The only major difference I’d imagine is online team play and game flow play calling.
Damn you really out here bashing my childhood and current enjoyment, typical SoftDrink lol. Nah man, I agree on the points that you made, This was my first Madden I ever owned and fell in love with the game. It introduced me to my current love of music from B.o.B, Tupac, Alice In Chains, Cypress Hill and Nirvana. Since I found my old Xbox, I got back to playing the game and made some custom teams to make an Ultimate Bracket with my friends. My old high school team are multiple SB champs, fight us lol. Enjoyed the video, I was waiting on this one ✌️
I am also around 23 and I grew up playing these games still play Madden 12 and 11 because the game play feels better than how madden is now and it’s also better with the commentary and broadcast style
Collinsworth repeating his lines in game was a decision to make the commentary as realistic as possible.

Let’s go!!! This Madden did some nice things that others failed to do but dropped the ball on other things. This Madden is unique to say the least
My first madden remember playin it on the wii good times 😁🔥
"The game was always easy for me."
*makes just an awful read at **3:24*
Hahahaha. Love the video tho man.
This was my favorite madden game of all time me n my cousin use to watch madden movies with watching the Bills AI play 🥶
It was ok.
Madden was already erasing parts of the Franchise mode since 2009.
this was the first real "next gen" madden from the 360/ps3 era. it was slower but protak felt great and it was very hard to go back to madden 09 after this came out.
I remember 10 year old me cheating and creating a god tier team in franchise mode and i scored about 200 point and the game would just say something along the lines of “stop scoring you are going to break the game” and it always cracked me up. My first madden game and i’ll honestly say after madden 11, it’s my favorite.
Incredible soundtrack
Ultimate Team was DLC that came out months after Madden 10 launched.
Madden 10 is probably my favorite Madden. It's far from perfect but I still like to play it.
Surely Madden 11 is better?
@@AmazonEnforcer maybe but I didn’t grow up with it the same way
I do remember Pro Tak being your worst enemy, especially in OT when a running back breaks out this huge pile lol
Something else they took out the game running backs running through pikes idk like Marshawn and many others have done
Softdrink video = a good day
I grew up playing Madden 11, and literally every single thing about that game looks identical to Madden 10.
This one of my favorite madden games I still put it in my console
Dang! You 23 and you making videos like these? I’m witchu dawh ✊🏽 I was born in the early 80s and you got that wiser man perspective
Madden 10 PS2 is the first Madden I have ever played and I loved it. Madden 10 PS2 is my favorite Madden.
You need to do a video on the madden psp games. Those were legendary as a kid
I love Madden 10 on the ps2 soundtrack it is amazing 🤩🤩🤩.
Madden 10 was ABSOLUTELY great. I played that forever. Me and my lil bros and friends. That hit stick the fumbles the user everything
Also, Madden NFL 10 would be the last Madden where you can create a custom team with rookie version of NFL Legends.
Wait you can do that 😂
