- EA Sports' Arena Football games, Arena Football and Arena Football: Road to Glory, were fantastic for their time and hold up well today. Both games are full of unique animations, hard hitting fun, and are simply a unique fresh bresh of air compared to other sports games. While the Arena Football league is no longer around, these video games still play great today and can be found for a cheap price.

Underrated game. I’ve been collecting a lot of these old sports games getting ready to do a video on them
Same
i subbed excited for the video
Fish appreciate it. Already got a script written just waiting for my elagato
same bro minus the video part but i’m about to buy a PS2 and cop some classics
Same. I miss those days. They put everything into it and gave you plenty of features for 50$. Even the ESPN ones.
The XFL's failure was different.
The AAF's death was entirely their own fault.
The XFL's death was due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. They did it RIGHT this time, and STILL got screwed.
I hope XFL come back. Such a fun league
Jog Messon when you said that there would be no XFL, I almost cried. This was the first genuinely league that I loved more than the NFL. It was an actual competitor. Then, when I saw that they died down my heart was broken. I loved all of the games in the XFL Hell, I even watched the games when I was shopping. I just absolutely loved the league. They introduced so many things that the NFL won’t. Behind the scenes action, voiceover of plays, they had everything you asked for in the NFL. To end this off, I just want to say I loved it.
Logan Gawlak considering the man behind the XFL, the bankruptcy thing might just be a cover to avoid the costs of keeping the league up until the pandemic subsides.
Genuinely don’t think it’s over for the XFL, Vince has been thru worse, that man fought and beat ECW AND WCW at the same time, he is one of the best businessmen I’ve ever seen, and also I heard their headquarters still employ some higher ups.
Someone up there must hate spring football.
I'd play this over current madden every time. It has so much more stuff, except the soundtrack. In fact Arena football's challenges to unlock past teams was brilliant. It kept me playing to unlock all of them. It's a shame madden doesn't have that at all. Now it's "congratulations, you spent the most money on ultimate team. Your prize, a crappy card."
no no no, you dont get it! you get a shiny card that you can use for the next 2 months!
Ducky Actually, true. I just thought of it in my way.
Am i the only on who remembers the AFL blitz game Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed?
I remember renting it from a local video strore as a kid as well as the n64 console itself because we didn't own one at the time back when you could do that.
I had it
@@josephsleight2634 NFL Extreme
I’m surprised he didn’t mention it.
Loved it.. Basically a blitz clone.
Would love to see a Blitz The League II retrospective, extremely underrated game that didnt get enough love 12 years ago.
Dont Forget Blitz The League the 1st in the series . I also would love to see NFL Blitz & NFL Blitz 2000 since to me those were the best in the series while NFL 2002 was like the last hurrah for series
you got it
The IFL still has some teams that originated in the AFL
Yep and also from AF2. They even have the Barnstormers.
Rattlers & Barnstormers are there now.
Destroyers will be there in 2022
@@targettoad691 I'm glad, right now I'm hoping the Philly Soul returns in the IFL or a classic AFL team like the Florida Bobcats to be remade
@@lunareclipse6999 The Sharks are in the NAL, although that league is on the ropes
@@targettoad691 True, and who's your favorite modern AFL and classic AFL team?
2:27 that coach was committed to creating the ultimate flop.
Still have this to this day. Hitting the refs and coaches was funny.
Can you do a video on NCAA Football 2K3? The last 2K College Football game.
People sleep HEAVILY on Arena Football and Arena Football RTG! I own both of them and still play them to this day.
This game was so much fun. I got it for $10 back in the day. I forgot this was a thing and didnt know many ppl knew ab it.
Man I miss the Chicago Rush. My grandparents were season ticket holders back when I was a kid, I only ended up going to a handful of games but Arena Football was a great time.
The IFL is still around, so a lisence for a game still exists, I’d love a new Arena Football game with the IFL
Yep. Same
The IFL is still going strong after 15 years! Several teams are original AFL teams
They should make a game
My favorite thing about this game is the AFL2 teams. I was lucky enough to as a kid have season tickets to the Wilks Barre Scranton Pioneers for the last season the league was active. The pioneers ended up winning every single home game that year and lost in their version of the Superbowl.
Arena Football is the most underrated EA Sports game released on the original Xbox. It's a really fun game, I remember renting it back in 2006 and played it. I would not buy it until a decade later after relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This is one of the first games I bought at Movie Trading Company when I went there for the first time.
I got this game as a kid out of curiousity and i remember having a lot of fun with it. Tackling players and having them flip over the wall was fun af
Let me make a joke mmmmmmmm........
Madden 19
Yes
Let me make some more jokes
Madden 20 and Madden 21
Best joke this decade dont @ me
Got a better one:
Madden 17-21
And Madden 20 and Madden 21 and Madden 18 and Madden 17 and Madden 16 and Madden 15 and Madden 14 and Madden 13.
I remember a demo for this in the PlayStation Magazine. I was like “mum, dad i need this as a First Communion present” I fired up the ps2 a few years back and yea it holds up.
They actually did make an Arena Football game on PS1 with Kurt Warner on the cover. It was during his Rams success and wasn’t very good. I was a huge fan of these arena games and the league in general.
I still play Arena Football Road to Glory on a regular basis!
As the only person who actually streams Arena Football on Twitch, I just wanna say it’s fun to play
There is A arena football known as the indoor Football league
Anyone who had NCAA 06 drooled over the ad before the game
There actually is a current IFL League that still is going on right now I believe. It has the AZ Rattlers, Sioux Storm and 6 other teams
There was a game that tried to capitalize on Kurt Warner's success. "Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed" came out for the PS1, and was not bad. Basically a reskin of NFL Blitz.
Had this along with all Maddens and NCAA football games on the PS2 and I would find myself playing Arena football all the time. So much fun
The Indoor football League is still a thing. Just as good as the AFL. This was another great game from my childhood. So much fun
There is a little known league out there known as the Indoor Football League. Made up of some former AFL teams like the Barnstormers, Shock, and my Rattlers. Similar to how the AFL operated on the field, small field, high scoring. A bit more defense. That would be a league to encourage to find a videogame adaption. It's still growing but on hold due to the quarantine. If you dont know it, look it up, it's pretty fun.
Dude you when you have two people that are really good at this game it becomes epic. Back in the day when this game came out a friend of mine and I had the most mind blowing, nail biting games. It always came down to the final seconds.
I got this game about two years ago and started to get good and figured out the offense. I now try to play the computer down by at least 21in the fourth quarter to see if I can comeback. I can't imagine how much fun it would be against someone else who knows what they are doing.
@@underclas If you learn the defense you can sack the QB quite often against the computer.
There was Kurt Warner arena football game back on the PS1. Also there are also still a couple of arena football leagues still going today here in the USA. The IFL and NAL both which do have games here on CZcams
The IFL is still operating and still expanding, Arizona just got a third team actually. And I thoroughly enjoy indoor/arena football. I loved these games too
SDS, there's still a few American indoor leagues that exist such as the IFL and NAL
There was an arena football game for the PS1 that went along with Kurt Warner
There's actually multiple indoor football leagues in the US right now, they're just very small. The largest is the IFL (Indoor Football League) which has been running continuously for over a decade (though they didn't play in 2020 because of Covid).
...and so was Arena Football itself. Attended a few Nashville Kats games before we lost the team.
I see you using NTE's video, I know a Dingle when I see one
There’s still the IFL (indoor football league) that’s the most popular arena league in the US. There’s teams that used to be in the AFL being the rattlers and barnstormers. I go to a bunch of rattlers games and they’re super fun to watch
You should do a video on the other CFB video games. 2K's college game as well as the Gamebreaker NCAA series
Some AFL teams actually are still around, but only because they jumped ship to other indoor leagues. The Arizona Rattlers ran up a whole AFL dynasty and then jumped to the IFL
Always excited for a new upload, your videos have caused me to buy quite a few used sports games
There was an officially-licensed Arena Football game with Kurt Warner on the PS1.
I miss the AFL, went to so many Soul games before the league folded.
just picked this up for 360....it's really good. thanks, softdrink. in some sense, the AFL adapts much better to video game football than madden. me and the family went to a chicago rush game and it was a blast. sad to see the league went down the tubes.
Isn’t the Indoor Football League still around?
Yea the original arena football league went bankrupt now they have the second arena league just very few teams in the second league tho
Yea but they don’t have rebound nets like the AFL did. IFL and the National Arena League are both around today with former AFL franchises
@@createdfootballleague6591 There are actually tons of Arena Football Leagues around. Its surprising.
@@thepeeps3222 Yea, like CIF, AAL, AWFC, etc. but none are on the level of the NAL/IFL
@@createdfootballleague6591 thats the AFL franchise did they all started leaving the league little by little in order to not fold the franchise. The notables barnstormers and rattlers are in other arena football leagues
I just got this game and can’t wait to play it. I have been loading up on a great PS2 collection. Great video and can’t wait to see more
Arena football is alive and well in the US. The IFL and NAL are going strong. Just not through the Rona.
One little critique on a near flawless video, the original game you can unlock past teams. You could actually do through cheats or by I’m game achievements
These games had personality. I loved them. My only problem with the first game is they didn't have time for the Brigade's name and logo to be announced lol
Ryan Moody: But muh simulation footbaw...
There is a Kurt Warner Arena Football game that released in like 2000 for PlayStation
Had both these games on the PS2 back in the day and played them ENDLESSLY. Such good games. So uniqe and fun. Either one is a must-play for any hardcore football fan.
I loved this game back on the day for ps2 me and my friends used to have a blast
We also had a team where im from in louisville im pretty sure they were called the fire
Man Arena Football was so much fun for sure. Action went by fast and you were never really out of a game. Wish this would get a remaster lol. I loved playing it so much
I had season tickets back in the day to Orlando Predators and this game coupled with season tickets was just so much fun and amazing to play. After the Preds would lose to the Storm in the war on i4 I would play on the game to get them back!
This was back in the AFLs hayday when they were on national TV with NBC and ESPN
Sorry to be that guy, but there are actually several leagues that still play arena football. Such as the Indoor Football League (IFL) that has been around since 2008 and still have some teams from the AFL (like the Arizona Rattlers). Or the Champions Indoor Football League which has been around since 2015. If you guys like this game, please go check out these leagues!! IFL games are even broadcast on CZcams for FREE! Great Video!
Arena Football is great! I'll still play it from time to time when I want to mess around.
Best song in the game: "Meat Mittens"
Remember playing this with my brother, now in heading into my junior year in HS. Ah, the good ol' days... 😔
They should make an All-Pro 2K8-style Arena Football game, where all of the rules and mechanics are similar to these games, but all of the teams and players are generic and not taken from any particular league.
MilesDawkins has a good series of this.
These games were actually pretty solid!! Had a blast playing them. Just played the second one yesterday.. I loved how they used the Madden engine, but still that there own custom controls for the up tempo style of gameplay to represent AFL Football!!! Definitely an under rated series!
I like how your videos make you realize quality of a game
This looks like a fun game to play. A few years ago, I actually went to a Philadelphia Soul game for the first time, and it was a pretty cool experience!
Right. Arena ball is still alive and kicking just different entities. My little brother plays for the sharks now in the NAL and i play in the AAL with the predators. Wish i could have played in the orginal era Arena league buuuut shoot i was still in high school when it shut down the 1st time 😂😂
I am offended, good sir. The IFL (indoor football league) is still going today and has teams from this Arena Games in the league still. Go Green Bay Blizzard!
And the IFL. They’re still around, if I’m not mistaken
loved knocking guys over the railings and into the speakers
Me and my family went to the AFL championship game, where the Philadelphia Soul and the Tampa Bay Storm played. I'm a Philly native, and it was awesome to see the Soul get their third championship. I think if the AFL could've come around earlier, it would've been a popular league, because the atmosphere was awesome, and the players were still really good. I have never played the game or the sequel, but it looks awesome!!!
I saw this game at EB Games back in the day and loved it.
Would love to see a vid on NFL Fever!
we need that fall of ea video
There was an Arena Football League released a year or two after Kurt Warner won the Superbowl. Kurt Warner's Brawl Between the Walls or something like that. I swear a friend had an old AFL game on his Jaguar.
This game was like $2 years ago and me n my brother would play it religiously!!
Ooooo this gonna be good
Heck yeah!
I have Road To Glory and have played that thing for hours and hours.
nice vid man. been collecting old sports games since i found your channel. might try this game out. #FixMaddenFranchise
I don't understand how you dont have more subs. You put out some quality shit.
The IFL still exists and there was a arena football game called Kurt warner arena football unleashed
2:28 the coach glitched on the field then trips over a player 😂
Hilarious.
Underrated game, I played it in my childhood and I loved it. Good memories, in fact was my first football game I've ever played before Madden. My Favorite team was Austin Wranglers 💯❤️💙
I loved this game. Columbus Destroyers will always be my favorite semi pro team
6:54 to the end is the best part of this video! The Timid Yetis; TIM for short
NTE footage
I still own and play my original copy of road to glory, the gameplay is incredibly fast pace and fun. Well worth the pick up if you still play retro sports games.
Great video!!! Now I want to play it!
Madden 21 sucks already 😂
What happened with it?
SHAWKLAN 27 It exists that’s what happened
SHAWKLAN 27 the franchise is madden 20 with blue!! This is crazy we love blue
madden 21 sucked even before it was conceptualized. and i use that term very lightly because EA doesnt think about the development of madden, they just make some more mut cards and call it a day
Online is the only good part and it's fun until the update hits
Exaggerated hits in this game were way over the top - but somehow, in this game it worked.....
Another awesome video !!! for an amazing game
My family had season tickets for the Columbus Destroyers for a couple seasons. It was so fun
There’s plenty of arena/indoor football leagues still going on today, the IFL been the most popular.
Gay Gruden was not only a coach in the Arena football league, but a player too! The guy won 4 championships in his time and then went to coach afterwards. A surprising story for someone I thought was just a generic guy
Just a correction - there are several area football leagues in the United States today that were operating during the time of this video. The IFL, for example, has been around since 2008, I believe. The sport has remained alive and well and didn't die with this league.
Loved this game so much. Hella fun
2:50 there actually was an Arena Football Game during Kurt Warner’s NFL peak. It was on the PS1.
Specifically, "Kurt Warner's Arena Football Unleashed", basically NFL Blitz but Arena Football (which makes sense, given Midway was also behind this game).
Me and my dad went to a lot of arena football games as a kid. This game totally captured the raucous and fun that was afl games.
It's a bummer that it didn't last. I think Arena Football is just a little bit too silly and off the wall.
And I feel like because of that it was able to become popular but the popularity didn't last.
I feel like the other thing that happened to the arena league is that around the time it was failing smartphones were coming out. The NFL Sunday Ticket was soaring in popularity.
Because of the advancements in technology people could get their fill of football more easily with the nfl.
I feel like prior to that it was harder to be engaged in the sport of football outside of the NFL season so having a different league with something that there was more demand for.
All of these videos of yours are gonna make me get an old xbox so I can play all these games you are convincing me to play 😅
I had alot of fun with it , i liked the music alot
I have this game, and it's a lot of fun!
Well, this was the last game I really wanted u to do, glad u did it.
There actually was an arena football that was made during Kurt Warner’s time called Kurt Warner’s Arena Football, it was blitz style game on ps1
There was an arena football video game before these that tried to capitalize on Kurt Warner. It’s Kurt Warner’s Arena Football on the PS1.
Dude yes! This game was so rad
This game was great! Rented it at Blockbuster back in the day haha. Then bought it
