I wanted to take a moment to share with you guys the reason why I’ve chose KastKing is, my brand of choice. So, I started a test a few years ago. I was going through gear left and right and I needed to find a brand that lasted in saltwater that didn’t break the bank when I had to go buy something. So, I started off I bought several different brands of reels. Everything from the cheapest Shakespeare reel that I could get from Walmart to some of the higher-end Penn reels. I’m not gonna say higher end, mid-range. Again we’re trying to shoot for cost-effective here. These are the results of my study. The Shakespeare reel. You can hear that it’s nasty, crunchy. It was like this given two weeks out of use in the salt. Mitchell salt, I bought this at Walmart. I picked it up . I felt like it was a pretty good reel at first, until it rained. The first time it rained it got water in the pinion gear it locked up on me I took this reel off of my rod and it’s never been fished with again. Shimano Sienna held up pretty well. I’m still pretty good to this day, still these reels are still being used the ones that are functionable. But, there’s some corrosion, no big deal. The big thing I noticed with this Shimano was the drag stopped making a sound. Upon further inspection a little pin on the inside broke. Not a big deal, not a bad reel for the price, but not what I was looking for my company for my clients. I heard a lot of good stuff about the Penn Fierce so I gave them a try. It’s a pretty good snapper reel, at first. Can I hear that? That happened to me after about six months of fishing with it. A gear tooth on the inside bent and it rubs every time it rolls around. A lot of corrosion issue with this and I’m really disappointed in the brand. Penn was all that I fished before. It was my go-to brand. A lot of cracking from the sun. Like I said, these reels get used a lot. There’s a lot of abuse with this stuff.”
How Does The Penn Drag Hold Up
So I stepped up to a little more expensive, a little bit on the higher end this is a Penn Battle. Fairly decent reel, held up but just didn’t have longevity and smoothest that I was looking for and this drag is well, atrocious to say the least. Again some cracking from being in the Sun five to seven days a week these reels get subjected to a lot of UV torture

So, that brings me to the brand KastKing. I bought this reel again just as a test. I didn’t know anything about the brand and I really floored by what I was seeing in performance. This reel is two years old, commercially used and it still spins like the day I bought it. The drag it’s still flawless it still works and operates smooth as butter.”

I went fishing with my sharky 3 baitfeeder and my Daiwa BG in a lake. I was wade fishing with the reels both reels got dunked in the lake. The Daiwa started to make a noise coming out of the roller bail bearing. Meanwhile the sharky 3 kept it's smoothness. I had to open the Daiwa and greased it again back to normal. I am very impressed with my sharky 3 baitfeeder. Thanks for the video.

My first baitcaster, and my main reel is the same reel, a Kastking Royale Legend. I have had it 2 or 3 years now, and it works like it did the day I got it. I will be adding a couple more reels soon, hopefully, and those will be Kastking as well.

Excellent video Brian. I think a lot of people have concerns about switching from a big name reel or rod manufacture and taking a chance on a company that they aren’t familiar with. I would say a full time salt water guide’s opinion and experience lend a ton of credibility to the KastKing brand. When you couple that with the affordability of the gear, it makes the switch a whole lot easier.

I was flounder fishing and caught a Sharky 3 combo off the bottom of the bay I Fish the reel had no corrosion and I took it home cleaned the inside put some oil and grease and 2 years later it still feels brand new these reels are the real deal

I’ve had a snarky 3 4000 for 2 years it’s been in the rain and snow and it’s still has had absolutely no issues what so ever I’ve even pulled in a 39” striper on it and it’s a beast. I just got a 6000 bait runner that I cannot wait to use I was definitely back you up by saying they are THE BEST bang for your buck reels on the market period

I bought. Kastking 6000 Baitrunner. The drag knob from the get go didn’t tighten down. I complained to Kastking directly. They offered me a 5% discount. They asked me to force the spool off. I did this and could not see any damage to male and female threads. Obviously a manufacturing tolerance issue. They told me spares were not available. In the end they gave my money back. I am really disappointed as I bough it based on your recommendation. The 6000 is not available on line now.
So product variation is obviously an issue.

@KastKing you would make a killing selling these and the non baitfeeder version in the UK market. There's a big freshwater fishing scene here and the baitfeeder could be used for Pike, Barbel and Carp fishing. The non baitfeeder could be used for feeder fishing. You really should open up a UK website, you'd make lots of money over here :)
Mine lasted 3 weeks. After 15 freshwater drum ranging from 3 pounds to 15 pounds it started winding with resistance. I found 3 of the six gear lugs on the handle sheared off. I called Kastking and was told it was a common issue. The rep said he owned 3 of them and they all did the same thing. I was told this bait feeder is about at the end of its run. He told me it was a weak design and anything other than pond catfish that roll and this reel will brake in the same spot every time.

I have a Gx2 medium rod equip with a KastKing sharky baitfeeder 4000 reel and it WORKS GREAT TOGETHER ! . I can't believe how strong the ugly stick is ! Plus that reel ! I've caught fishes bigger then my pitbull !!

I'm trying to choose between the Sharky 3 and Megatron, 6000 size. It'll go on a 12 foot rod and used mostly for surf. Any advice?

You Might Like The Sharky 3 6000 series, due to Great Price, BUT..... What is really nice, With any Baitfeeder , is the Rear Lever. You never have to Flip the Bail over to pull line to yourself, to tie on another hook or Leader. That feature alone makes them Worth it. Note: Line Rollers on Reels can be upgraded if you want ; such as Titanium Nitride , or I believe Ceramic Rollers. Research is Needed.
A buddy of mine bought two sharky III 5000 reels, and they both broke. 1st one after a 60lb blue cat.
I hope it last longer than the Rover 60 first time takeing it out and on the second cast the click fell out of it and I bought two of them

My brand new sharky 111 bait feeder sure doesn’t spin freely like your does. They must have packed it with to much grease. It also makes noise when winding….not a quiet reel by any means. I’m sure it will get the job done for $34
