Kastking make excellent reels and they really are bulletproof under "normal" fishing circumstances. I actually used a Sharky 3 3000 spinning reel, paired with a 8ft rod and 16lb braid, in one of the smaller fishing ponds in Hua Hin. I spent the entire day catching carp and catfish ranging from 7-18KG and it operated flawlessly👌

When I was over in Thailand about 13 years ago now I hooked a big mekong on my Daiwa regal 4550 bait runner. It was flexing like mad. The drag wasn't that smooth but I had to almost lock it down just to stand a chance. I wouldn't repeat it again. The handle was really flexing.

Within the last year. All 3 of my Sharky baitfeeder 4000 baitfeeder clickers have failed. The reels still work great with that one exception.

How old where they when the clickers broke? I still have this reel and it just wont die but the 2nd drag adjuster is a little tight

@Fishinginbangkok 1 was a year and a half. The other 2. Only a year. I bought small bite alarms now for those reels

What rod did you use with the KK-6000?, I just received mine KK-3000 & KK-5000, Looking for the right rod,
Please advise !! Thanks you ขอบคุณมากครับ

the rod I use is made locally in Thailand and is way to heavy. It was just a test day. its probably better paired for a rod like the okuma azores, but that's for the 6000 and you have the smaller one. take it to the shop and see what rod it feels balance on and fits the seat well.

Hah I got the same Sharky reel because its fairly cheap and looked better quality than most of the chinese baitrunners like sougayilang. Its held up for me but I dont fish for Meekongs with it just smaller carp species and maybe the odd redtail. For the price its good I think but I would definitely go Shimano Baitrunners for peace of mind on bigger fish.

Hi i have used it a little more now on smaller fish and its doing ok but early days a the moment. I didn't expect it to hold up to Mekong i was kind of hoping it would break on the first Mekong and it would make an interesting video but it actually held up. Lets see if its still going strong a year or so from now. how long have you owned the katking reel?

If you are a tourist its 4000b and you may need to rent gear and a guide. if you are Thai or have a Thai driving license and work permit its 500b.
