-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I would definitely go with "Sweet Talkin' Woman" for your next ELO song. If you want an upbeat ELO song that's well-known and isn't disco, it about has to be either that or "Do Ya". "Can't Get It Out of My Head" and "Strange Magic" are good songs, but they're slower.
Turn To Stone is another upbeat banger!
"Sweet Talkin' Woman" is great!
@@michellowe8627 They've already reacted to "Turn to Stone".
Do Ya is a banger
Ooh I forgot about "Strange Magic"! Love that one too!
Not sure whether it's "bright", but their version of Roll Over Beethoven is a top notch banger.
They should make it a back-to-back-to-back three-fer with Chuck, Beatles, then ELO versions.
Yesssss✌️
@@unclephil7650 The album version! Rockin'
@@cosmiccat6708 of course ✌️
I agree. My favorite by them
"Do Ya" "Sweet Talkin' Woman" and "Strange Magic" are must listens to by ELO
Strange Magic randomly gets stuck in my head on a regular basis. It's not a favorite song of mine, just soooo catch and great instrumentation.
Yes, those three exactly! Then maybe Showdown.
I don’t think ELO has gotten the attention and respect they deserve. They are fantastic and Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. Been waiting for this one from y’all. Thank you!!
Then are you at all disappointed in their rating?
@@aileenturrietta7553 no, not really. While I personally love this song, it probably isn’t their best.
Agreed!
ma ma bell
They haven't gotten the respect they deserve? Yeah, that must be why they're in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame.
You need to hear one of their ballads..."Can't Get It Out Of My Head". The first time I heard it I thought it was a new John Lennon single. Beautiful.
It's QUITE a beautiful song! Also the lyrics..!🦩
As a kid I remember the delight I had when those first notes came through the radio. This is top tier for me second only to TURN TO STONE.
I remember the video for this one - neon signs. Mesmerising for a 5-year-old 😅
Turn To Stone! Turn To Stone! Turn To Stone!
Oooh yes…”Turn to Stone” would definitely be my pick for the next foray into ELO. “Strange Magic” is also worth checking out…
Turn to stone is amazing!
"All Over the World" is upbeat ELO. If you want a great ballad, "Need Her Love".
Need Her Love, Midnight Blue, Starlight are all great ballads.
@@valelavidavivir5842 Oh, Midnight Blue is my favourite track off the Discovery album!
Agree with Kathy 100% on both. I'd add Last Train to London to the list.
"All Over The World" is my favorite
Yes, All Over The World is great, along with I'm Alive, and The Fall, also off the Xanadu soundtrack.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS song. The best from 1979! Long live ELO, they will be on Tour this Summer and Fall of 2024 in the US and Canada.
It's hard to describe how good this sounded on a strong FM station with a good car radio back in the day. So deep and rich.
Right!! Well said!!!
Low base always.
@@oldeskoolnana7543 So, are you guys surprised at their low rating to this song?
@@aileenturrietta7553 / Not necessarily. ELO is a bit of an acquired taste I think.
"Telephone Line" and "Can't Get It Out of My Head" are essential ELO.
“Don’t bring me down… Bruce!!!” Not originally “Bruce” but allegedly supposed to be some quasi-German word/gibberish that Lynne threw into the song. Later he adopted “Bruce” cuz that’s what everyone heard anyway. Classic!🔥🤙
Groose is the real lyric.
@@brianhardy612 Yup! That’s it. Thanks!
@@caseymoe816 Hilarious! I thought it was a reference to the shark in Jaws!
The published lyric said “Grooss,” I think.
Gruß is the word, at least for its time. German's undergone spelling reform since then so I don't know if it is still spelled that way.
Next needs to be "Showdown". One that I also love that I don't see mentioned much is "Sweet Talkin' Woman" if you're looking for something upbeat and fun--it's probably their funnest hit, but some people are put off by the disco aspects.
"Sweet Talkin Woman" ... I'll mention it again.
Sweet Talkin Woman - there’s another mention!
I don't really get a disco vibe from Sweet Talkin Woman. There's a lot going on to dissect - peel back the onion, so to speak. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this was the next ELO.
I love Showdown! It immediately reminds me of Bill Murray waving his hands around with his crazy hair in Kingpin 😂😂
I just commented this and saw your username and thought I did it twice. Great taste!
This was one of the most played songs in 1979. To say it was everywhere and played constantly all day is likely an uderstatement. I always felt that it was designed for roller skating which was HUGE at the time. Imagine skating around a rink while this song played, and lip syncing "don't bring me dooooooowwwwn." 1979 had some incredible hit songs. Thanks for sharing one of them! ~Be Blessed
Although I liked ELO and this song was everywhere, I didn't enjoy it much as with my name it caused other kids at high school to tell me to not bring them down.
Now I’m trying to remember the name of the Cliff Richard song where he was roller skating in the video. Original roller skating before in-line skates were a thing.
@@kayelle8005 WIred For Sound
@@BruceHoult thanks!
There’s absolutely NO WAY. These two dudes have never heard this song before
Nobody believes that
Honestly ????
This was basically a solo song for Jeff Lynne. He plays most of the instruments, vocals, etc. Done after most of the band had gone home. Rest of the band wasn’t too thrilled, but went with it.
Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra (also known as Mr. Blue Sky) is an album of re-recordings by Jeff Lynne of hits by Electric Light Orchestra. It was issued in 2012 by Frontiers simultaneously with Lynne's cover album Long Wave. On the version we just heard its the original Jeff Lynne - vocals, guitar, piano, synthesizer[6]
Bev Bevan - drums, percussion[6]
Richard Tandy - grand piano, synthesizer, electric piano, clavinet[6]
Kelly Groucutt - bass, vocals[6]version
Where did you read “the rest of the band wasn’t too thrilled?” Lol. “The rest of the band” had no say whether to go with it or not. More urban legend junk. The song was ELO’s highest ever charting American hit.
@@chronomatt6990 I’m pretty sure I’ve heard an inter with Jeff where he says that
Interview….smfh
Unfortunately, Jeff ditched the strings that made the band so unique. The band sputtered as a result by the time the 80s rolled in with Calling America being their last hit, barely scraping into the Top 40 in '86.
The best feel-good song for my weekend!!! ELO is the best!!!!!
Lift Me Up - Jeff Lynn! Wonderfully BOMBASTIC!!!🦩
You definitely still need to hit Showdown and Strange Magic! 🌈💜🦄
The first ELO song I purchased was "Showdown" as a 45 rpm. The tone of that song is pure angst in the best way possible. I still love hearing it today. My favorite song of theirs is "All Over the World". It's a feel-good pop anthem that withstands the test of time.
I'm gonna throw my hat in for "Rockaria!" It's a heck of a lot of fun, and they explicitly pull in a lot more of their classical influences into the rock. This or "Do Ya" I think should be next on the list.
Yes, totally agree. It's what elo is. And it's a fun song.
The songs that immediately spring to my mind are "Tightrope," "Strange Magic" and "Fire on High." (You could also double back and put "So Fine" in front of "Livin' Thing," as the album intended.)
Other recommended songs you haven't done from ELO are Sweet Talkin' Woman (my fave), Showdown, Can't Get It Out of My Head & Strange Magic.
Nothing can bring me down on this glorious sunny day in the U.K.! Happy Wednesday!
ELO is one of my favorite groups to listen to on long road trips
Just did that today with the greatest hits cd!!! Made the drive go a little bit easier!! 😎
Lynne is supremely talented. His production work with Full Moon Fever and Into The Great Wide Open is great. I've loved this song since I was a kid.
I love everything about this song... it's wonderful and not long enough for me... The thing is, too, that all this music was the soundtrack of our lives, those of us who lived through it and it has an emotional pull. My friends and I as teenagers didn't analise the music, we just felt it.
Many years ago in the 70’s I would listen to ELO all the time. The punchiest song they did was ‘Rockaria’ and I am convinced that you will love it.
HarriBest Reactions just reacted to, "Rockaria!", this past week! He's reacted to 34 ELO songs, and counting. I know, cuz I sponsor them. ;)
Rockaría is a rocker with a cool story.
Great suggestion!
Fantastic song combining rock and roll and a little opera.
"Do Ya" and "Poker" are two ELO songs that represent their harder rock'n'roll side that you guys haven't really touched. "Poker" was always an album track, but "Do Ya" was a single and got plenty of airplay.
“Do Ya” is my favorite ELO song. Just love it! 🌺
@@debbiechang5781 Mine, too. It rocks!
Definitely “Do Ya”
Do Ya! Do Ya! Do Ya! Do Ya! Do Ya!
Actually "Do Ya" is a song originally done by Jeff Lynne's former band The Move that was later re-recorded by ELO. You should check out The Move. They had some really good songs too.
A&A, their "Do Ya" and "Strange Magic" are next for you!!
"Do Ya" never gets suggested. Fun song, with a "slightly" harder edge to it...
Awesome suggestions!
I love all ELO but _Do Ya_ has always been my favourite~ since I was a little girl.
I think A&A would be surprised by & really enjoy the different sound from the band.☺️
Strange Magic randomly gets stuck in my head on a regular basis. It's not a favorite song of mine, just soooo catch and great instrumentation.
Jeff Lynne (ELO) is the true master of Rock and Pop music. From 1972 to 1986 (14 years) ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography
This song and Another One Bites the Dust ALWAYS played when my sister and I went to the roller rink !!! Fantastic nostalgia 😍
Yes!!! 🛼🛼🙌🏻
At our rink too! Good memories!
Groooss! What does that even mean? Hey everyone 👋💜
Morning Susan!
@@Shadowrider1872 🥰
A meaningless word, just a placeholder. One of those cases where the true story just isn't very interesting. :(
Mornin’ Susan! 👋🏽
You need to try “Sweet Talking Woman”.
Fire On High is one of the best instrumentals in rock & roll.
At least two of their later hits “Hold On Tight To Your Dreams,” and “Rock And Roll Is King” are both last song on their respective albums. Another similarity is that all three songs sound like they are add-ons.
My favorite ELO is actually a cover of Chuck Berry's "Rollover Beethoven". They really reinvent that song in their own style, and it rocks.
Absolutely. Many have covered that song, but ELO took it to another level.
ELO did it live when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame a few years ago. In fact, it opened the show!
Also need to remember (in response to the negative) it came out when songs were hits that were longer than what the young’uns are used to today.
And YES! Driving, cleaning, walking, etc. this song ROCKS!
Glad you played this guys got a 61 year old up dancing around the kitchen 😊😊❤
Their instrumental Fire on High is classic.
This is one of those rare songs that I cannot listen to without listening to it at least one more time, if not 3 or 4 or more times. And if I can't listen to it again, it plays non-stop in my head (and that's not a bad thing!). Tears For Fears has a couple of songs that have the same effect on me as well. I just love this song, it's so fun and delightful. This is what glam would've sounded like had it been a thing in the late 70s. And it needs to be played loud to be properly heard. Wonderful, just wonderful.
"Shine a Little Love" from this album is also an underrated classic
NOW DO “ QUESTION” by the MOODY BLUES. 😁❤️
Yes! Great tune! They need to do more Moody Blues, definitely.
Definitely more Moody Blues. I agree.
Definitely feeling the Beatles influence. Jeff Lynne from ELO as a massive fan and even ended up in a band with George Harrison down the road.
Jeff Lynne is the lead singer and also a member of the greatest super group ever, The Travelling Wilburys , along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison
Went to An ELO concert way back when.. ELO did this song it was emotionally moving to see and hear the entire audience sing every word and dance like maniacs for this song.
ELO had multiple hits per album. The first track from Discovery, “Shine A Little Love,” was a worldwide top 10 hit.
If Andy wants something bright, "Sweet Talkin Woman" is a great mix of disco and the mr blue sky style, I would also suggest "Tightrope" because the intro is so good
For the love of God guys, PLEASE react to ELO's All Over the World. It is the PERFECT song.
YES!!!
Agreed! You absolutely have to dance when you hear that song!
@@michellewhaley3489 I dunno what's taking them so long!
@@ExpectTheSpanishInquisition have no idea but when they do finally get to it they will wonder why they didn’t react to it sooner 🤣 I think they also need to hear Fire on High
@@michellewhaley3489 Definitely. I've been bugging them for over a year to react to AOTW!!
My parents used to drop me off at the skating rink on the weekend and this song was always played on the jukebox. Really took me right back to1980.
The extra length glues the song into your brain. Once heard; not forgotten!
From ELO to the Traveling Wilbury’s. Good old Jeff Lynne!
The song Andy wants is “Do Ya”
Hard to believe this song is over 40 years old. In fact, I was 10 when it came out, and would rock out with my friends at the roller rink on a Saturday night.
Guys, don’t forget this is 1979 music. It suited the time. I saw them live in 1978, when they still had the 2 cellists and the show was banger right from the starting blocks. And I saw Roll Over Beethoven live….. Holy f.k balls, what a blast!!!!
*"Tightrope"* is a bright-sounding song, after the Intro. And, *"All Over The World"* is bright from start to finish. They're both great songs!! Although, *"Tightrope"* is even better--truly epic! If you choose, *All Over The World"* I recommend you react the fan-made flashmob compilation video using the song, it's incredibly upbeat!
I watched that flashmob video several times during the lockdown and many commented how it was bittersweet to watch it and how this should be the theme song when it's over. Jeff needs to play it if he tours again.
@@lisalisa13 I agree 100%!
This was a popular song at the skating rinks in '79/'80
ELO never disappoints!!! Says this 67 year old grandma! 🤣
Imagine being 11 and having this newly released on the radio. Freakin' AWESOME! I'm so happy to see you enjoying the music that is a reminder of time gone by for me. Rock on and keep up the great work! 😄
This 4/4 beat is stone-cold disco action. And yes, Jeff Lynne was heavily Beatles-influenced.
Always sounded like "Don't bring me down, Bruce!"
Yea what's a groos?
I never knew what the hell they were singing...so, it's "Groos"? What in the hell does that mean? And, I've been hearing this song since I was toddler, in the 1970s.
Lol, I only learned this a few years ago but Jeff used groos while writing it. It wasn’t meant to be permanent but ended up staying anyway.
It’s a German word for “greetings”, iirc.
But the fun part is, Jeff actually sang “Bruce” at a lot of concerts because that’s what people thought it was. ☺️
This song owned the airwaves in ‘79/‘80. It was and still is one of my favorite songs.
YaaaaaaaaaaaY! FINALLY a REAL song profiled! It's been awhile. "Don't bring me down" is ELO's best song. A true CLASSIC! #2 would have to be "Confusion". It's about time! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You need to hit "Do Ya" great opening guitar!
You should check out "All Over The World" by ELO.
" Midnight....on the water....I saw the oceans daughter...singing as she called my name.....and I can't get it out off my head "...best ELO song
Jeff Lynne just can´t be pigeon-holed. He has lots of styles, even his new stuff is wide-ranging. He is a musical genius. Summer and Lightning, Midnight Blue, Across the Border, Wild West Hero, Last Train to London, Jungle, Rockería and Calling America should be a short playlist and then ask yourself, "What style CAN'T he do?" Not all of those songs got famous but they cover a broad horizon of music.
THe Whale would be the one to raise Eyebrows!
@@kenperk9854 Yes that is another kind of music altogether. I like that song. No idea what genre it is... prog?
Happy Wednesday! Andy, you were on the right track when you said this song was made for moving - this was tremendously popular at the skating rink! 🛼🛼 When you’re grooving to this, those extra verses don’t matter. And the one thing I thought for sure would be a top criticism for you both, the “non-solo” solo, wasn’t even on your radar. “Do Ya” is a fun song and would likely be “bright” enough for your next reaction!
Morning 🥰
Hey @@Shadowrider1872!!! Hope you’re having a great week! ☺️
Yes, this was the number one roller rink song and great with the synchronized lights. I knew it wouldn't be a big hit with A and A, but they've probably never been to the roller rink. :P Another big roller hit was Funkytown by Lipps Inc. - also anything by KC and the Sunshine Band.
@@LadyIarConnacht yes-both groups were on heavy rotation at the rink! A&A really need to hear “I’m Your Boogie Man!” Those horns! So much swagger!
Rollerskating was big in the day this came out......
I was a teenager when this song was all over the radio airwaves. It was exciting then and still is, now. It's all about the production, I think.
Fun fact: Jeff Lynne wanted a 'banger' for the album, so he sent the band out to play football. He then took a loop of drums from another track and laid down piano's and guitars. When he had the tune, he called them back in to record it and wrote the lyrics on the fly. The word Gross was later changed to Bruce when he sings it live, because that what's the crowd sang, so he figured he'd join in with them.
10538 Overture, Can’t Get It Out Of My Head, Showdown, Ma Ma Belle, Wild West Hero, Tightrope, Do Ya, So Fine…so many great tunes.
Sweet Talking Woman is another amazing song!
Not a bad song, but definitely not one of their top tier tunes. Might I suggest "Eldorado Overture / Can't Get It Out Of My Head"? Simply beautiful.
Exactly what I just proposed, before I read yours. Love it.
Agreed, back when their songs blended rock with classic music - that was their best period.
Totally agree. Great call!
Absolutely!
You’re too kind. I love ELO, but this song is awful. In my opinion.
So many great ELO songs. I'll add a few others that I didn't see mentioned but are just as worthy: Standing in the Rain, Shangri-La, Big Wheels, and Wild West Hero
Big Wheels should have been a hit. It is still one of my favourites.
Your next ELO tune has to be "Fire on High." You guys will flip!!
Nice reaction. I agree with the "upbeat and light" analysis. My two favorite songs from this album are "Shine a Little Love" and "Last Train to London." Both fit the "upbeat and light" characterization and both feature more of the orchestral elements ELO is known for. Both are A+ songs.
Couldn't believe what I was hearing the first time I listened to last train!!!
They have their 2 songs of women: Sweet Talkin' Woman, and Evil Woman, both great hits
ELO was so innovative. They were most definitely ahead of their time.
ELO "Fire on High". First song I ever heard by ELO, in the car, on the way to work. Got to work and called the radio station and the DJ told me who it was and I went out and bought the album the very next day.
Yes! I called the DJ too! I have dm’d them on Instagram before recommending this song
Glad you're coming back to ELO! You should try "Fire On High" from Face the Music by ELO. It's a proggy instrumental that opened the album. Its got backwards masking and all kinds of cool stuff. So cool in fact, that it was used on a TV show back in the day. No spoilers, so I won't tell you which one...
Now I am intrigued
It was also used during sporting events back in the 70s by one of the networks. Good song, but there are several better I’d recommend before this.
ABC Sports Spectacular
@@danlrusso I thought it was ABC, but I didn’t want to guess.
Yes! Fire on High!
Great reactions guys...so much to enjoy with Jeff and ELO. ''Fire on High', 'Dreaming of 4000,' 'Across the Border' , 'Waterfall' and 'Wild West Hero' I feel will give you a taste for more!
I love all ELO, but Don’t Bring Me Down is my all time favorite. Yes, it brings back memories of dances and cruising with friends. We would crank it up every time it played on the radio!
If you ever consider a full-album review, ELO’s “Time” is worth considering, from 1981. A concept album start to finish (a guy caught in the future lamenting the “good old 1980s”), every song stands on its own. “Hold On Tight” was the main single.
Hold On Tight is so good!
Yeah, hold on tight is awesome.
@vinsgraphics: you hit the nail on the head! Many of us feel like we're caught in the future starting in 2020...
Is saw this tour. The robot fell over. A very Spinal Tap moment, before Spinal Tap.
Should be considered an all time classic album but criminally underrated.
Try ELO's version of "Roll Over Beethoven", it's by far the best version of the song!
Yes!!...GUYS! You MUST MUST MUST..Check out ALL OVER THE WORLD. The song was used in the film Xanadu. I'd say half of the OST was ELO songs. The song Xa nadu was originally sung by Jeff, but felt Olivia Newton John would sound better singing it. Plus it fits during the end scene.
I was lucky that he added Xanadu to the set list in Nashville in 2019 because he didn't in other cities. Flashback to 1980 and he sounded awesome!
This is a fun song to jam out to. Definitely listen to "All Over the World" next. Another super fun tune. That's also on the Xanadu movie soundtrack. A cult classic that they did the music for.
One of my favorite parts of the song is when they double time the”no’s” in one of later choruses. It’s just so unexpected.
Not to beat a dead horse, but you really need to react to the “ELO Live at Wembley” videos from a few years ago. They’re as good, if not better now than in the day. I’d start with “Telephone Line”.
Yes, but for songs they've already heard in the studio. They have done Telephone Line already though, right?
@@robertreichle1 I didn't remember it, but sure enough they did. I must have completely missed it, so here's where I'm going now! czcams.com/video/r7k6XOOkCTQ/video.html
@@robertreichle1 Yes, they've done, "Telephone Line", and that is great at Wembley '17. But even better at Wembley '17 is another song they've done, "Livin' Thing", so that would be my vote if they want to see them live at Wembley, in front of 70,000 fans!
@@robertreichle1 Yes, my preference is they do the studio versions first. But they’ve already done most, if not all, of the top performances from Wembley.
One of the very few bands who's live performances are musically REALLY as good as their records - even just to listen to without being there or watching the video.
i look at the "extra verse" as when you're out cruisin' in your car and you don't want the ride to end. you wanna take it once more around the block. i find that in a lot of rock songs. this song could have easily ended after the breakdown part, but i'm glad it didn't.
Jeff and the guys just have this strange magic! 😆😆 ✌❤
This song is upbeat and fun when you're doing something, but is repetitive when you sit down to listen to it.
"Jungle" is one of their light-hearted, bright songs that's very fun. I'm sure you guys would enjoy it.
You should check out side 3 of Out of the Blue, a song suite called "Concerto for a rainy day", which ends with blue skies, obviously 😉. On the way there you hear different shades of ELO's sound, all overlaid with these beautiful string arrangements evoking MGM musicals and George Gershwin. It's the quintessence of ELO!
So so so agree. They should just do the whole album, maybe on a livestream.
@@valelavidavivir5842 It's a great album all the way through, for sure. Peak ELO in my opinion
I agree with Alex. If you're gonna drag out an ending you have to do it Supertramp style.
Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco.
Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post).
ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music.
He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...
ELO songs are what I would call "feature rich". The deeper you listen the more you find.

Jeff Lynne grew up on all that music you were describing, the early rock n roll and doo wop right before. He even did a solo album of covers of songs he listened to as a kid. Great stuff.
One of the best sounding harmonies from a harmony era.
Wild West Hero - definitely not too long or repeated and everything catchy you guys are smitten with regarding ELO. Great strings and even better vocals plus a fun guitar lead.
Though a fun song, this was never one of my ELO favorites because it is missing the interplay between rock and classical instruments. Their two best songs are unfortunately not going to have the listener numbers on Spotify that A&A use to weed out selections: 1. Tightrope and 2. Fire on High. *Tightrope* has been reacted to by other major music reactors, which have all LOVED it. *Fire On High* was played a lot on rock radio stations and was even the theme to a CBS TV sports show back in the 70s, but people don’t recognize it from the title. The only rock instrumental of the era that eclipses it for me is “Frankenstein”
Love, love, love Tightrope.
Also, Love, love, love Tightrope. Quintessential ELO

High praise indeed!!! 😎
Andy and Alex, if you want to see ELO, it's best to see Jeff Lynne's ELO when they tour. Though, Lynne doesn't have the show inside a huge flying saucer (like ELO did in the past) the show is still fantastic! 😺
I saw them in 2019 and it was amazing.
I grew up in the San Francisco bay area and spent much of my childhood trying to request songs from our LEGENDARY DJ WOLFMAN JACK. When I finally got through, this was my request in 79. You're Welcome San Fran.
"Do Ya!" That's the one to go to for bright, happy, and upbeat. Love that song!
