    Time to start the real rebuild, so that they can get back to the playoffs and get better as the prospects that can play should be getting the experience so they can be a better team and learn to be a playoff team.

    Man a Debrincat, Stamkos, Kane line would be sick.

      God I hope we don't go for Stamkos. That's too much money for a center that plays like a winger and is past his prime.

      they'd get destroyed defensively. Scoring goals is fun, but if they all end up +3 on the season, is the cap real really worth it?

      I don't think they would play Stammer as a center anymore. I would also think they would only look at Stamkos if Kane decides to leave.

    Who would take Holl?...He is here for two more years

    In a perfect world, we sweeten the pot in trading Holl to a team who needs a warm body, and Petry retires. In this world, I don't know that either of those are possible. Petry and Holl are still under contract, and I'm not sure there's a price we're willing to pay to sweeten the pot in sending Holl off.

      I think all you'd have to do is retain some salary.

      Copp needs to be added to that list, won't be easy to trade however...

      Retain 50 percent to save a few bucks and open a roster slot. May require a 4th round pick as well.

    It doesn't make sense to punish a team for winning in o.t. why does that count less, because its 3v3, ok then go back to 5v5 and call a win a win, either that or get rid of points for losses and just count wins, I don't care if it doesn't benefit the wings in future seasons, as a fan id be emabarassed to have my team be a minus 20, have less wins than other teams that dont get in and get bounced easily in the first round, i get what the NHL is doing, but if you take away the points for losing you'd make games more competitive all season long, and you wouldn't have teams barely getting in due to technicalities only to be completely non competitive in the playoffs, which is the time the NHL should be most concerned about competitive games as the playoffs bring about more viewers, as even casuals are more likely to watch playoff games over regular season games. Terrible strategy from the NHL, but I wouldn't expect anything else from this horribly run league that doesn't protect players from being boarded and punishes players from helping to slow down guys who are running other players in the boards, this is why players have hated bettman since before I started watching this atrociously run league.

      It should just 2 points for a win and 0 points for anything else. Bring back ties, those are worth zero. Regulation and overtime wins both worth 2. Losing in OT gets you nothing. Overtime 5 on 5 in regular season for 10 minutes, 20 minutes for playoffs

    • @GrindLinePod
      @GrindLinePod  Před měsícem +1

      3,2,1 system. 3 for a regulation win. 2 for an OT win and 1 for an OT loss. Easy.

      @@GrindLinePod you'd still be rewarding teams for losses, makes it less competitive because if they get to o.t. then there's not a high enough priority to play hard in o.t. especially if you give only one more point for the wing, the league needs highly competitive games to drive up revenue. Id like to know how well teams that win o.t. games do in the playoffs, I bet they fair better than teams that coast in the playoffs and settle for the one point difference.

    • @johnnyslokes2712
      @johnnyslokes2712 Před měsícem

      @GrindLinePod No because that gives teams incentives to go to overtime. It should 2 points for a win and 0 points for anything else. Losing in overtime is still a loss and shouldn't be rewarded.
      Explain why a team should get a point for losing in overtime.. for what reason? Why is forcing overtime worth half as much as winning the game? You probably won't reply and even if you do, you won't have a good answer.
