    Hopefully next year the Red Wings Team now will look totaly different this season with mind blowing signings and mind blowing letting guys walk. I hate to see.

    You figure with Edvinson on the defense and Johanson cant be sent down to the AHL without waivers, thats 8 defenseman on the roster for next year. Their would have to be a huge roster change to fit in another d man with a trade or signing, i cant see where they do 8 defenseman on the roster, but i guess it could be done with only 2 goalies on the game day roster. Regardless, it ought to be an interesting offseason for Yzerman and how he puts the roster together and how he fits in under the cap with Lucas and Seider big money contracts coming in.

    You guys cool with trading Walman?

    • @GrindLinePod
      @GrindLinePod  Před 28 dny +1

      It would depend. I think a Walman - Johansson 2nd pair would be really good but I'd understand wanting to bring in a RD until Pellikka is ready. The return would have to be good though.

    Greg I am going to disagree with you too. It doesn’t make since for us to by out Petry. I Believe he came here to finish out his career and he will. Personally I don’t care what happens to Matta and Holl. One or both will be gone next year.

    Beyond Bergers,Johanson, and Edvinson, the first two dont have waiver exempt, i dont see any young prospects making the team. Yzerman is gonna have to prove his comment about younger players forcing themselves on the roster. After not bringing Edvinson up for most of the season, he has to prove it. He also has to prove he isnt going to do the Holland approach and fill the roster up with veteran players. We shouldve had some prospects on the team this year, for our teams overall development. To me, it looks like our prospects our over ripening like Holland used to do.

      Danielson is lighting it up for Portland. Mazur & Kasper are doing great in GR. Sandin-Pellikka had an incredible year and his team in the SHL won the league title.

      @@wingnut69 All u have to do is to listen to Yzerman's end of season presser. Sandin isnt coming over, absolutely no room and Yzerman expects him not to be here. The others i cant argue with, but will Steve let them come up or will he sign more vets?

    • @wingnut69
      @wingnut69 Před 28 dny

      Just have to let the offseason + training camp unfold. Danielson almost made the team out of camp this past season. I'd rather see hungry kids earn their roster spot than aging veterans play for a paycheck. Edvinsson is & was your case & point.

    • @doozey365
      @doozey365 Před 28 dny

      @@wingnut69 that was my point. Yzerman painted himself in a corner with that comment. It didnt help that the d stayed healthy most of the season nor did it help that Holl wasnt playing. It also didnt help that the team was just horrible defensively. Simon shouldve made the roster out of training camp if not for the roster being chuck full of vet dman. Danielson played great, but by no means was he ever gonna be on the roster. Im a huge fan of Yzerman as a gm, this is one my complaints. Its PTSD from the Holland era from letting our prospects overripen.

    There is 0% chance anyone in this organization viewed this season as a success.

    U wont get Markstom for less than a 1st rounder, and you dont do that. I agree goaltending was horrible this year, but you dont sacrifice valuable assets to compete for a playoff spot, you just dont. Now, if its a goaltender who is going to be around for 4-6 years, then u can.

    • @GrindLinePod
      @GrindLinePod  Před 28 dny

      I dont think it would be that much. 2 seasons left on his contract and gives Cossa time to continue to develop while giving the Wings a shot to win every night. Plus their first-round picks are going to now be mid to bottom half hopefully.

  • @rebecca6charman937

    The situation is obvious to me. Need to trade for Markstrom. He will be happy on a team with so many Swedes. In two to three years then Cossa and Augustine move into the picture. Lyons would be an excellent 1 b. But goaltending needs to improve.

      they dont need to trade for a 36yr old goalie with 6mil cap and 2yrs left on his deal

      This is random and really shouldn’t piss me off, however people who call him “Lyons” are like nails on a chalkboard.
