A German newspaper has written that according to their information Seider gets 8 years for over 70 million.
Raymond was a bigger surprise this year and still think Raymond only gets 4 years because Steve Y doesn't give out 3 8 year contracts & like I said before, I think Raymond is also betting on himself & only taking 4 years. He will be in the weight room more this summer ( was the only major weakness this year , I think)
Seider's Iron Streak is 3rd in Wings history. 1) Ogrodnick 345 2) Lidstrom 284 3) Seider 246
He has surpassed many of Lidstrom's records ( assist under 22/23 years old and so on ).
So I don't understand why he's getting so much hate this year either. 23 years old, feels like he only starts in the D zone. Only plays PP2 and people complain about the points.
But offense is the only thing that matters to most people...
Personally I see Seider and Heiskanen as the same style, compare the two & not Seider and Makar/Fox/Karlsson

You got that right not one single game missed from Seider..It is a huge plus on any team avoiding injuries by the player .. Especially with the type of game that Seider provides..

Also, who was Steve Y's first draft pick ? Yzerman always talks about Seider in an incredibly positive way. Just watch the interview at the end of the season again & watch his face when he talks about Seider.
I think a lot of people will have the same reaction when they see Seider's contract as they did when he was drafted.

Stamkos got 5 years on his second contract. Hedman got 5 years on his second contract. Kucherov got 3 years on his second contract. That’s Steve Yzerman’s track record. I’ll believe that Seider and/or Raymond get 6, 7, or 8 years on a second contract when I see it happen. Otherwise, 3 or 5 years is probably the term they get.
ASP is not two seasons away from the NHL. He is more complete and physical that many people seem to estimate.

ASP just looks so young and fragile. Just like Makar did at 19.
$8 mil is an awful lot of money for either Raymond or Seider, especially Seider. And anything more than 4-5 years is taking a chance, especially if one or both of these guys go on injured reserve. It's bad enough seeing Larkin, who makes at least $5-6 mil a year, go down 2+ times during the season. You guys are obviously in the under 50 crowd and think money grows on trees. The Wings still have to pay these guys, even when they're out. As I've said before, if Seider doesn't become an all-around + player, and live up to the image of retired hall of famer Nick Lidstrom, that money goes down the drain. I don't think Seider can be the offensive defemseman threat that you all think he is or will be. I just don't think Seider has the talent to be a force on offense. Also,. although he has played every game, he has not played without errors. That's why he'll need to be an overall +defenseman and a force like Lidstrom was during his whole career with the Wings. You guys are painting Sieder to be like a hall of famer. Watch out what you wish for. I like Raymond, as I've preferred the Swedish players consistently more than those from other areas of Western Europe, but I'm still not convinced that he can carry the team this early in his career, even if you give him that kind of money. Stevie Y has his work cut out for him.
If you are holding Seider to the standard of the best defenseman of all time i think that is unreasonable. On the salary thing, giving them big long pay days now is absolutely a gamble, you’re right. But at the same time we have seen these 2 play nearly every single game in their first 3 seasons and take strides each year, with their prime still ahead. There is enough evidence to suggest, barring an injury (which yes could happen) that a long term deal NOW will look better in the back half as the cap rises.
That all being said, Yzerman hates 8 year deals so the point may very well be moot.
If these 2 are serious about staying and building a winner, they'll sign matching 8x7.5 deals
