Which graphics card do you prefer for 1440p gaming?
4080super
i'd say the 4070 ti super is the best for 1440p and allows you to play at that resolution's fullest potential but it is mad expensive. my other choice would be the 7900 gre, much cheaper and similar performance in raster. judging by how devs are optimizing games now the 4070 and 4070 super will come to struggle in the future with 12gb of vram, they already do in some cases like ratchet and clunk.
@@metalface_villain I see what you mean. I am a bit concerned about longevity of 12GB cards as well. But in most cases they are OK for now. One thing I don't like about Radeon is that they just can't seem to get game devs to use their FSR and frame generation tech in games. NVIDIA's features are in almost every major AAA game. These technologies became so good that I use them a lot to get smoother visual experience. It's great when you have a high refresh rate monitor and can boost FPS from 60-90 FPS to 90-120FPS, lock it there and enjoy.
@@daniil3815 isn't that a bit excessive?😀
@@theivadim personally i feel like frame gen is pretty bad. it always makes games look weird and you need to have 60 fps for it to work properly and without lag anyways but dlss is pretty good. amd are saying that they will resolve many issues with fsr 3.1 but who really knows how well that will end up looking. also there is this microsoft thing that is happening for devs to make it easier to implement everyone's upscaler, so maybe that will help too but i guess again, only time will tell. people were saying that with that, there is a chance for fsr to be streamlined and we might have a similar situation like the gsync vs free sync, where everyone now got free sync, although i doubt that the non ai upscaler will be as good as the ai upscaler but to justify the price difference for me it only needs to not be too much worse.
Another great video Vadim. Well done. I had to make the choice between those two cards very recently. I went with the Ti Super because I wanted zero compromise at 1440p and enough power / RAM to be decent with 4K later if I upgrade my monitor. But I almost went with the super because for the money it offers good performance.
Good call! Thanks to larger memory capacity you won't have to make as many compromises over the coming years either compared to the 4070 SUPER. If you haven't tried 4K, then I recommend it if you like playing story-driven AAA games. That kind of games look much better on a 4K screen. And even if the GPU can't quite get the FPS you want, there's always DLSS and frame generation to help get there. I'm using 4070 SUPER to play games at 4K right now with DLSS + frame gen and it is a good experience in most cases. It'll only get better with time as these technologies mature.
@@theivadim you make some good points. I do like those kind of games. I am playing the remastered resident Evil 4 right now. I have a 120hz 34 inch Alienware gaming monitor now and it looks gorgeous. But it’s an older monitor. No HDR. I can only imagine how that game would look in 4K. Do you have a recommended 4K monitor that is hardware gsync that you might recommend?
If I were getting a monitor to enjoy games right now then I'd aim for one of the new 240Hz 4K 32-inch OLED monitors. True HDR, true black colour. I haven't experienced it yet. But it's my next goal right now. To own one of those monitors. Currently, I have MSI G321CU 4K 144Hz VA monitor. It's great for it's cost (I've seen it on sale for under $400 recently) but it can't compete with OLED. Pixel density is pretty nice tho. I'm enjoying Horizon Forbidden West right now. Very pleasant experience on such a big screen with high pixel density.
A question: how do you see your VRAM Hotspot?
Do you use MSI afterburner to see that?
In furmark I can see my VRAM temps, but in MSI afterburner I'm not seeing it unfortunately :/
CapFrameX. It's much better than Afterburner for stats monitoring.
@@theivadim thanks bro, I'll immediatly install it rn. Thanks again XD
As a 4070 super owner i can tell you that if you have the extra money to spend get the 4070 ti super. But if you want to save some money and want really great performance at 1440p and even good performance at 4k 4070 super can handle it. Im even playing dragons dogma 2 at 4k on it and its handling it really well 😂
even 4070 is much faster than ps5 gpu. So as long you use upscaling 1440p 60+ is possible basic on 4070.
but i recommend getting 4070 super for 15% performance boost. it's worth $50 premium.
4070 super is enough for 1440p.
Natively with ray tracing+ frame generation...it's not. You have to use upscaling+ turn down settings. For $600+ one should expect more.
@@DwaynedaGamer yeah! But as long as you are not ray tracing
the 1440p performance of 4070 super is great.
Ray tracing is crazy demanding even for a 4080 super. Not worth turning on.
That aio, between m and E series, what are the differences
hey. Im using since some years the 1050 ti still, but i think i will upgrade to 4070 super, do u think i will regret it? I play games like cyberpunk and Hogwarts legacy
you won't regret it for sure cuz it's a huge upgrade regardless. you can also consider the 7900 gre instead, it has much better raster performance especially now that they unlocked its overclocking ability and also has 16gb of vram which is important since the newer games are very poorly optimized and need a lot of it. the 4070 super has some very nice things though, like better ray tracing, better upscaler and lower power consumption. my personal choices would be 4070 ti super > 7900 gre > 4070 super but it depends on ur budget and how important stuff like ray tracing is for you.
@@metalface_villain Okay ty! Do u think my prozessor will be a problem it's a 5700x
@@zyvwzx i have not done much research on older cpus but from what i know the sweet spot in terms of price to performance that will also not cause bottlenecking problems for all the gpus i mentioned would be something like a 7600/7600x. sadly those cpus are am5, which means you would also have to pick a new motherboard for the upgrade T-T. my assumption would be that you won't have any noticeable problems with that cpu, combined with the cards i mentioned while gaming on 1440p in general, although there are dogshit optimized games like the new dd2 which might render it impossible to play with ur cpu, at least until they fix the game. if you can sell ur cpu and mobo to buy the 7600x and an am5 b650 mobo then it might be worth upgrading but if not the money would be too much imo
Excellent video thank you
Glad it was helpful!
The Gaming X Slim is such an impressive model, I just got one and that is the form factor + cooling solution every card needs
It is well balanced. Compared to some cards that are bigger than needed. But I guess it is nice to have options. Just in case one decides to build a completely silent PC.
@@theivadim I'm also biased because I like my microATX build :D
As a person with a 4070 ti super, it’s worth it, the future proof on this card is so good and the performance is pretty much over kill for most games at 1440p. It’s worth the extra money.
Futureproof is a myth. A few years ago I purchased 3060, naively thinking that this card will let me play games for quite some time, taking into account it's 12GB buffer. But in reality this GPU rarely make use of anything above 8GB. While the lack of raw GPU power forced me to decrease graphics settings more snd more. So finally I understood that those 12GB do not offer any real advantage for this card.
Then I swapped 3060 to 4070 Ti. Although it also has "just" 12GB, in reality this card offers much better gaming experience and let me max out any games at 1440p (except heavy RT settings). And it can even run older AAA games and modern indie games at 4K no problem.
Just buy the GPU, which makes you happy now. Do not think about future, it is not worth bothering about what will happen in a few years. Modern tech becomes obsolete pretty fast, no matter how hard you try to stay in line. In fact, it is easier and cheaper to buy less powerful GPU every 2 years, rather than overpay once and stay with a certain model for a few years.
@@stangamer1151 I agree with you. Sell your old GPU, buy new, cost difference is your "subscription fee" to have the gaming PC you want.
Very well said@@stangamer1151
@@stangamer1151 couldn't agree more mate! Nicely put!
@@stangamer1151you’re right but obviously high end gpu age better, look at the 3080, almost 4 year old and still a beast
hey man if its possible can you do 4080 super vs 4070 ti on 1440p and 4k?
Keep up the good work tho
Thank! I like your suggestion. I'll do my best to get my hands on those GPUs to make it happen.
@@theivadim thanks btw i meant 4080 super and 4070 ti super i have heard they are close.
I recently got rtx 4070 super msi gaming x slim let's see how it performs as I still havent built my pc yet just slowly getting the parts I did not had the budget for 4070ti super so I went with 4070 super hope it lasts for some years as this is going to be my first pc I saw some of your old videos regarding 4070 super its performance is good not bad but the only issue is 12 gb vram
guys why my tuf 4070 ti super OC push only to 2775-2790 mHz? i am disappointed , need rma?
My previous tuf 4070 ti oc has 2835 Mhz in boost..( i had to rma it due the 104.0c of temperature)
whats the point going from a 4070ti to 4070ti super?
@@HassanMohamoud-lg2xw don't need an 80super. Just rma it because of temps
Actually the perfect video I was looking for. Deciding between the 4070 super and 4070ti super. Leaning towards the 4070 super for the price, but 4070ti super has 16gb VRAM which should hold up better over the long run
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for checking it out. Did you come to a decision yet?🙂
At 1440p 12gb will be more than enough. Last of us being one of those game has caused all this flurry.
I am a little disappointed in the 4070Ti Super, granted i only got mine on Saturday so not played with it much yet but i kind of expected better ray tracing performance going from my RTX 2080 granted everything is 2x faster and so is ray tracing but in Mechwarrior 5 setting ray tracing to max it's still not playable i mean it's better 20fps to 40fps but idk the way nVidia hypes up ray tracing I kinda expected more, and this is a game from 2019. TBH replacing DLSS2 config file with DLSS3.5 it provide a decent increase with global illumination performance (from 125fps to 150fps max settings DLSS high quality) (RTX2080 90fps very high due to frame buffer limit of 8GB & DLSS balanced) and infact looks pretty good but maxing shadows and reflections still yields same pretty awful experience at 40fps. I am not seeing the CPU being pushed and still appears GPU limited with 100% utilisation on a Ryzen 5800X3D.
this is at 1440x3440, i gone for the Ti Super because of the 16GB frame buffer seen lots of games getting close to 12GB today at 1440p, and some even hitting 14GB granted this is at 4k that tomorrows games I can see the frame buffer size being a problem.
Need more DLSS 3 frame generation in games.
I'm not familiar with Mechwarrior performance. But some games just don't run well. Although, there is no denying it - ray tracing performance is not even close to being good on the current-gen GPUs. I think it'll be 2-3 more generations before ray tracing perfomance capabilities of a grpahics card will be in line with rasterisation performance capabilities. At that point games will have ray tracing on by default.
Checking videos it seems the only card that is kinda capable is a RTX4090 in the region of 55fps ish. So maybe a RTX5090 will do it lol@@theivadim
4070 super is the best product of the ADA generation (aside the 4090) due to performance/euro ratio, new games won't require much vram thanks to optimizations (new dx12 optimizations) and ue5 not being vram hungry, hell even horizon forbidden west 4k maxed with dlaa and frame gen doesn't go past 10 gbs of vram.
I'm having a good time with my personal 4070 SUPER at 4K so far (playing Horizon Forbidden West right now). But I haven't tried that many games yet. I'll do a video on 4K experience in the coming weeks. So, I'll be able to comment on that then.🙂
@@theivadimfor 4k I would definitely go with 4070ti super minimum. 4k is very demanding, not only because of VRAM, but also for more performance. Moreover, who know about future games that you will want to play, when you build PC you should think about 4-5 years into future.
Horizon Forbidden West is surprisingly well optimized, kinda rare occasion in 2024 xD
Wrong! Many games already out of the 12gb vram. In 1440p and it will get worst! Dont forget pol who bought a 3070ti with 8gb vram lol. Same scenario
it's current model of gpu with a vram that is already not enough judging by tests on games like ratchet and clunk so i wouldn't say it's that good. when you look at vram usage also look at the difference of ram usage in tests and the frametime to see if it's enough, just the number of vram usage isn't a good metric to judge that and the new games are extremely poorly optimized, especially on unreal 5, i don't know where u got the opposite. the ti super has 16gb of vram and is a beast for 1440p but u gotta pay lots of money. if u don't have enough money for a ti super i'd def go for a 7900gre before the 4070 super cuz i wouldn't wanna be forced to lower settings while i paid 600+ for a current model gpu.
@@k1cs1m3a8Name me 5 games that exceed 12 GB in 1440p with no ray tracing? Dude you don't know what you're talking about

@@theivadim sorry i didn't see it in fortnite benchmark so i thoght that it's not shown in the other games , Nice video by the way
Oh, yeah... My main stats overlay gets bugged in some games (Fortnite included), so for those games I'm forced to use NVIDIA's built-in overlay which doesn't have memory statistics.
what cpu do you use?

I just bought the RTX 4080 Super for 1440p. I felt like the RTX 4070 Super was okay right now but I would change it too fast in the next years and the RTX 4070ti Super is too expensive for the performance and I also feel I would switch to a newer card too fast.
Now you can upgrade to a 4K monitor to make your experience even better🙂 You have the graphics card for it.
I am getting the 4070ti super for the 16gb vram, for using AI and more future proof.

stop benchmarking GPUs inside Castle or Hogsmeed in Howgwarts Legacy. It is extremely CPU intensive, you can see how your GPU load is below 99%.
Why not? You spend a lot of time inside of the castle in this game. It's only fair to make sure that one will have a good experience.
Well the GPU's are running like in the 60% utilisation meaning the CPU is the bottleneck and the graphics card is snoozing, while I get your point you spend most of your time there it's not indicative of comparing graphics cards.@@theivadim
