Out of curiosity, why didn’t the 7900xtx make the cut?
@@louiienation8497 too close in price to the 4080 super, which is comparable rasterized performance, better RT, better upscaling, and better efficiency. Worth the small (for that price class) premium in my opinion.
@@danielowentech very true. Thank you
The loss in image quality from turning on ray tracing (and tanking your frame rate) is typically not compensated by an image quality increase from ray tracing! NVidia buyers seem to ignore this or just can't think straight ...
Would you recommend ABS Tempest Aqua Gaming PC 4090 if I don't plan on upgrading for another 6 years. It costs 3.3k and I don't plan to build myself.
Remember when an amazing card was $400. If we keep purchasing these products at insane prices, they'll just keep raising the prices.
It sold a lot
Why can't people like you with wisdom and courage make videos? Instead we get guys like this fast walking people into overpriced cards.
Welcome to inflation
@@dhax8430In the United States, the average annual inflation rate from 2005 to 2021 was around 2% to 3%. In the early 2000s, mid-range graphics cards typically cost between $100 to $300 USD, while high-end models could range from $300 to $600 or more. As of January 2022, prices for newer graphics cards, particularly those featuring advanced technologies like ray tracing and AI acceleration, tended to be higher, with some flagship models costing $500 to $1000 or more. So, the prices of graphics cards have climbed approximately 148% faster than the general rate of inflation over the specified period. To put it plainly, people are suckers. lol
The performance is much greater than a 970 so to say. Prices are up for everything in the US, GPUs have gone up as well. The time for people to not buy is gone, everyone bought during 30 series release, scalped and overpriced. People are willing to pay it, so that's the price now. Like it or hate it. Have to pay to play when you have only 2 choices.
You don't need the best GPU, just the one that can properly run your most played (and wanted) games, I remember I used to buy the top GPU in the market just to find myself playing the same 2 or 3 games regularly, waste of money.
I hear that!
Not everyone is like you there are people who want to play most games with Ultra Settings
3060 12gb is the way to go
Yep. I started with only a 120 GB SSD and people would be taken aback when I told them about it but I never felt restricted by it as I would only be playing 1 or 2 games at a time.
1440 ultrawide, 60fps, unreal engine 5 games is the standard atm.
Good review i stayed all the way until the end. Delivery of content has changed for the better more laid back not as anxious to belt out your thoughts so fast. Keep up the good work.Informative

Pretty much agree with everything here Daniel, glad you decided to stay around.

This was the best video I’ve seen about this subject. Thank you!
Thanks for the video.. everyone says youtubers are AMD shills, but you seemed very fair and balanced and gave good explanations for all of your recommendations. I was deciding between the 7900xt and the 4070 TI super.. so this helped me. Thanks
One thing to keep in mind with cards that run lowish on VRAM, is that features like Raytracing DLSS and Frame Generation can consume quite a bit extra and right now the driver software and most games really don't communicate it when those features overload your memory.
You may have plenty of headroom on High preset without raytracing, but when you turn on RT you'll feel the need for Frame Gen and Upscaling to negate the performance impact and then suddenly you also need to drop texture quality a lot or some games will just randomly crash (i.e. Hogwarts Legacy even now).
Hope this will get reigned in with new Direct X extensions to cover framegen and driver improvements and to have a baseline framegen tech all modern cards can fall back to (kind like how FSR2 is really common now).
Valuable information. Thank you.
very much info and hardwork here ty
Just subscribed. Thank you, this is very useful!
Man, I really made the right choice when I pulled the trigger on my RX 7900 XTX for only (the equivalent of) $850USD last August. It was an open-box special from Newegg but I haven't seen any more at that price point since. I'm not a brand-wh0re and I don't care about RGB so I usually just go with XFX cards but this is a very nicely lit-up ASRock Phantom Gaming model and I have to admit that it's quite pretty.
Since I don't give a rat's posterior about ray-tracing (yet), I have no desire to spend more on a GeForce card when a Radeon does me just fine.
Just built a PC around a R5 5600x and a RX 6750XT and I'm very happy with my purchases, especially the gpu. The card performs great now and the 12gb of vram at that price point makes it a great, future-proof pick for 1080p, honestly maybe a little overkill
6750 XT it is, thanks for mentioning it in the video as I was in a dilemma between 7600XT and 6750XT.
What a great video, thank you! Do you have any plans to release a CPU counterpart?
Love your vids
I'm happy with my 7900XTX. It's still a top tier gaming GPU at what I consider to be a reasonable price. Pair it with a 7800X3D and you've a gaming monster whose price isn't completely shocking.
I agree completely, though the price is still unreasonable i’d say, I managed to squeeze out an xtx+ 7800x3d build for less than 1.8k with the help of some microcenter deals
AMD is a completely viable option. Next Gen only being mid range is looking to be a really good move from AMD.. they know that people that buy the "best" is going to go with Nvidia no matter what AMD promises for the next flagship. 5600x and 6950xt here. I am hopeful for the future of gaming where AMD continues to be competitive and prices drop steadily like they have been since prices came back to normal.
@@omletgod2488 If only microcenter existed in my country
@@omletgod2488 I had to trawl for decent component prices, here in the UK.
If you don't care for RT then it's a great card. Though I feel like most games coming out are gonna use RT in one form or another. Cyberpunk Pathtracing looks pretty ngl.
Just bought a used reference model 7900 XT for 470€ last week. First AMD card for me, but with that price/performance I couldn't help myself! So far it's been great. But I'm looking forward to AMD's new AI enhanced upscaler in 2024. FSR as it is right now is usable, but definitely needs improvement to be on par with the competition.
good video, best timing
I'm happy with my $499 ASUS TUF 7800XT (for 1440p system), & it's rated as the most quiet & cool running of the 7800XT options out there. It's pretty chunky-sized though to accommodate the better cooling infrastructure.
RTX HDR has been a game changer for people with HDR monitors or/and with HDR 4K sets.
Congratulations, great video as always.
In Türkiye, 6650 XT is just %10-15 more expensive than 6600, so for us, it is more logical choice with %25 more performance :)
I have a 3 year old build with an i9 10850k and a 3070. It handles everything I throw at it, and I don't regret it.
yeah you wont need to upgrade for the next 5 years unless you want path tracing or 1440p gaming with max settings. Its really a amazing card i got it for under 300 used on ebay and it can play cyberpunk with almost max ray tracing with stable 60 fps i dont understand why people buy new graphic cards when used ones get the job done for much cheaper
HA! Try an i9 9900KF with a 3060 12g. I play on Ultra settings. Won’t upgrade unless something breaks. My mobo doesn’t even support Gen4 pci-e. 😂😂.
If you're looking for Sub-$200 Nvidia graphics card, don't. They haven't cared to take that market back in years and years now. AMD's the best show in town. Hopefully Intel continues to improve value and driver support. That said, 6600, not too shabby! You can do a lot with it, even some introductory 1440p. I used to be able to recommend the 1660 Super, but at this point it makes zero sense, even if it was still $200. 6600 smashes it in every way.
yeah that 7600 card is awesome ????
You can play Forza Horizon 4 ultra settings at 4K@60fps with an RX 6600 :)
@@jernaugurgeh451hoerizon 4 is 6 years old!
Id argue if youre in the market for a sub $200 GPU, dont. Buy a PS5, or bite the bullet and buy used and take advantage of Ebay’s generous return policy and spend the first week testing as many games as you can to see if the GPU has any issues. Had a used 6700XT that had some big issues in DX12 games. I mean DX12 runs like shit in general but that thing would freeze and stutter hard as hell whenever new assets loaded in for the first time in anything DX12 related. And i know it was DX12 cause any game that gave me an option to use DX11, Vulkan, etc ran fine. My guess is vram was damaged due to mining even though 6700XTs sucked at mining.
Eitherway, its like buying a good used car used car you can afford vs buying the cheapest new car you can afford. Its 100 percent not worth and youre not spending enough anyways where the longevity and security you get from something new would matter.
Which is kind of sad, because they are hardly better than the RX 580 I bought for $150 5 years ago.
I would have bought a 4070ti if it came with 16gb at launch, but now that they waited so long I’m just gonna hold off till we see what the next gen does
but that's always what I hear, if people did that, they just wait forever. expecting nvidia to release a gpu worth buying is like waiting for unicorn to appear.
@@XMG3 or I can hope for the 40 series to go on sale after the 50 series, or now they’ll have a tier lower card perform as well as the 4070ti which is good enough for me
@@XMG3nah, the performance uplift from my 1050 ti isn't their yet, I'll wait to see what the 6090 offers
@@ipotato95 You'll always be paying for the same performance. If the 50 series go on sale they'll still cost the same as a comparable 60 series card performance wise. Same with AMD. The only difference is you pay an extra $100 Nvidia tax for every Nvidia card, so for budget cards you're simply better of going AMD.
Keep waiting window shopper.
I know people who only play new games, never load up anything old once they beat it. That is who I would say should consider Intel GPU's at the moment. I love the Intel price point and 16gb vram on the A770, but intel is not quite there yet, but driver updates and fixes have made substantial and ongoing improvements.
This video pretty much helped me decide if I want to get the 4080suoer or the 4070ti super. The extra money for the 4080super donation really make sense for the minor performance bump over the 4070ti super
Here in Aus rn the 4070 ti super gaming oc is 1455 aud and the 7900xtx gaming oc is 1499 aud.. and the 4080 super gaming oc is 1873 aud.
I got an xtx pulse for 1499 aud shipped in june last year, it's been great.
Yo bro love the vids. A suggestion for us in the UK.. Any chance of mentioning the gbp price aswell?👍
American companies don't consider a price difference, so take all the prices as face value for us in the UK too, they are (mostly) exactly the same in GBP
nice video subscribed . thought about upgrading my rtx 3080 but not sure if its worth it right now . money isnt really an issue but 2k for a 4090 is abit much lol
Just picked up the 7900XT open box for 570$. I wanted the 4070 TI Super but they are about 750$ used. Ray Tracing is cool in all but the 7900xt is a more powerful when it comes to
rasterization and its a 175$ less
Nvidia asking $500 for a 4060ti is some real clown world shit.
Screen resolution is so crucial, people go with the 4k and then have to rely on upscaler, so this could shift things to Nvidia just for that reason. Depending on distance going higher than 1440p is a waste, and if you're far enough 1080p is the best still.
the rx6800 (non XT) seems to be available in Europe at the moment for 410-415 euro including delivery and taxes. i'm very tempted, even though i'm on a budget. the 7700xt is more expensive and the 7800xt is at least over 100 euro more.
all that said GDDR7gpus will come out next year... i'm mostly looking for something to play older games at 4k high
You should get something now unless if your budget would allow a more expensive gpu.
t's actually quite simple in regard to intel vs AMD. At least for the gaming.
If you are in the market for a "60" for intel or a "600/650" series card, it doesn't matter. You get whichever one performs better in the games that you play at the moment and are interested in playing in the future. RT is a non factor, and just a bonus for any games that may run okay with it on, but that tier of card is not meant for use with RT in mind. FSR is VERY close to DLSS in visual quality, escpecially at 1440p or higher resolutions.
if you are in the market for a "70" for nvidia, or a "700/750" series card, and you value the single player experience more than the E-sports experience you have a choice to make. Higher res textures or better rat tracing, but in this tier, considering the RT performance really isn't anything special (excluding the 4070 which has a decent amount of VRAM and also has pretty good RT perofrmance, but it's pretty much a 12GB 3080 with better RT and had a price drop recently, so it's kind of an outlier) you are much better going off with AMD, because they give more vram and allow you to bump those textures up to ultra, which in certain games, for example red dead redemption 2, anything other than ultra textures yields a SIGNIFICANT degredation of visual fidelity, but with ultra textures and lower settings, the game looks stunning especially following the Hardware unboxed optimized settings video and if you value the E-sports experience, go with AMD. Once again, more VRAM allowing for higher res textures and usually lead in fps per dollar by a decent margin.
For the "80/90" with nvidia or the "800/900" cards well, the 4090 has no competitor and the the 7900XTX is WAY closer to a 4080 super to even make it a consideration becuse of the lack of a feature set but for the 30 series, if you can find it, the 3080 is pretty similar in performance to a 6800XT with MUCH better RT performance (I use a 3080 because my 6800XT died on me but it was an old dell oem version so it was bound to happen lol but I personally know the performance of both cards in a non bottlenecked system at 1080p, 1440p and 4k) but less VRAM, which MIGHT matter in the future for 1440p gaming.
Also, this part is very simple. Don't buy a card that's a 1440p tier card (6800XT/3080+) if you have no plans to grab a 1440p monitor/use your 4k very often. even the 60/600 cards perform very well at 1080, no need to go overboard and start bottlecking your system lol.
Here in Slovakia I got RX 7800 XT for 565 euros which is kinda a good deal. RTX 4070 super here is for like 600 to 760 euros. RTX 3080 is for 760 to 1000 euros, the prices here are insane and our wages are much less than in America.
good analysis and I agree
Hi Daniel. Thanks for the detailed video. Need some advice please. Play a lot of the time on a VR headset with the computer AMD Ryzen 7 2700x and a AMD RX 580 8gb graphics card doing all of the work before sending it through wifi to the headset. Would a 16gb graphics card make a marked increased in the graphics of such games as IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad to the headset or would there be a negligable difference? Thanks in advance.
Managed to scoop an RX 6700 XT for $375AUD (~$245 USD) on eBay for my first PC build. VERY happy with the price to performance.
How did you manage that?! I though I got a bargain for my 6700 non-XT at $450 (AUD)!
@@catmeow11111 I honestly just got really lucky. Makes up for the times when I try to sell stuff and end up selling for super cheap.
great video, thanks
RTX 3050 6 GB might be the best option when needing a RTX (tensor) card for HTPC/TV use with 2x HDMI 2.1 with VRR support. Super special use case, but this can be a great deal + no 8 pin required. Insanely low power, silent GPU that can do basic auto AI upscaling for streams, and low bitrate video content. Not at highest level, but surely beats Nvidia Shield Pro scaling from 2019. The next GPU level I would be willing to go is the 4060 8 GB, but it's way more expensive. Better GPU in every way, but for just video content, the 3050 will do more than fine.
I personally require 24/7 tiny PC that can output 4k/120Hz for living room + bedroom TV's and Atmos systems. At, about 200€ price point, not a bad GPU for videos. But for gaming, it sucks big time.
It needs price cut cause 8 gb version is only like 20 euro more in my country
@@Radek494 Sure, it could use a price drop, but that extra VRAM is not something I wouldn't ever use on a video use. Only looking at 2x HDMI 2.1 models, so it's semi easy to compare these cards at different price points. Not so many Nvidia RTX 30xx or 40xx GPUs at this price range.
I got the 6800 xt used for $380. The used market looks amazing.
ayy, same here pretty much. Spent 360 euros (so about 390 USD but whatever, GPUs are always more expensive here). Also sold my 3070 for 300 euros. Thank you used market for doubling my VRAM and giving me 20%+ more performance for 60 euros. Considering my 6800 XT is only about one year old and looking at 7800 XT performance, I might be set for another 3-4 years or so which is crazy.
Great deal, enjoy 16gb of vram.

With prices still at crazy levels (and even price jump of chinese 6600m boards) I still think an undervolted/underclocked 5700xt is hard to beat for a best value system, and they run great on pcie 3.0 with full x16 and 256bit bus width. Prices 135 to 150usd for these. They just tend to run hot (hence underclock/undervolt).

Hi Daniel. Great video as always. I am currently building a PC and have purchased all the parts except the GPU. I live in Ireland and am looking for an RTX 4070 Ti Super or an RTX 4080 Super. The prices in Amazon UK are higher than US prices. I am thinking of getting the RTX 4080 Super Gigabyte Aero which cost EUR 1250. I am hesitant since I belive NVidia might come up with a new card like 4080 Ti or 4080 Ti super or something. Is there any chance of that happening? The prices of a 4070 Ti super and 4080 Super are very close so I prefer getting the 4080 Super instead.

7:20 as an owner of a rx 6600 since around 1.5 years now i have to say i dont really like FSR but i just really tested it in skull and bones and a bit in helldivers 2 ... in helldivers 2 i use radeon super resolution doing kinda the same then fsr ... and funny thing with kind of the same technologie ... but for me it works way better ... the performance boost is way higher ... and the performance is more stable then in my FSR experience
8:23 kind of yes ... skull and bones without any upscaling or whatever runs on around 47 to 52 fps at 1080p max settings as example ... its pretty vram hungry at max for me a bit over 11 gb in use ... with a 8 gb model its obvious why the performance is not the best ... ;D
Nvidia really screwed themselves over with the VRAM situation. If the 4060 came with 6gb budget and 12gb mid-range solution while the 70 was a 16gb card and the 80 and 80 ti would go 16/24 it would have been a much better line up
I don't think any gaming card in 2024 should come with 6 GB of VRAM, but otherwise yeah. Problem is, Nvidia really likes their planned obsolescence.
@@HunterTracks NVIDIA also likes their data center, AI, and content creator profits 🤣

It is true that you should chose just 1 or 2 games (I play just Enlisted occasionally) and chose your GPU for that game. So the RX 6600 will do it perfectly although on High the VRAM starts to hit already 6 GB on that game regularly. I am pretty sure the RX 6600 will run Enlisted still in 10 years when reducing settings or use Frame Generation (with Frame Generation the RX 6600 does 250 fps on High settings, card is undervolted and on PCIE 3 board). So for that combination the RX 6600 is plenty still for 10 years to come.
If you have an 4090 or something that card would last you for Enlisted as game still for about 20 years to come. My RX 6750 XT does on High on Enlisted with Frame Generations on around 350 fps, undervolted heavily.
I did consider the 4070 Ti Super as the best high tier GPU but I had some spare cash so went all in on the 4080 Super even though the value was not as good in comparison and wanted something that would last at least a few more years. Obviously the 4090 is just so on another level that if you are considering that then value is not a factor and the 24GB of VRAM is more worthwhile for productivity than just gaming anyhow. It would have been nice to see 20GB on the 4080 Super but 16GB should be OK at least for a while.
ridiculously overpriced
I just upgraded from a 1070 to 1080Ti last year. I had the 1070 for 6 years. I don't plan to switch again for another 3-4 years or so, and I'll probably get a 30 or 40 series. Prices should probably be in the 200-300 range by then.
Cant find a good video about this online, but whats the best GPU for 3440x1440 ultrawide? I wasnt sure if i needed to save up for a 7900gre or if i was better to spend less on another gpu.
I just bought a 4080 super to replace a 4070 Ti super, but.... I do a lot of sim racing in VR and it just does better. Also I am studying ML for my masters degree and the Nvidia CUDA cores make life easier.
Hi my friends, I'm wondering if I should wait for the RTX 5000 series or go for it now. Do you think the jump from the 4000 series to the 5000 series will really be that big? I don't have a PC at the moment, I could wait but what do you think? Thank you very much.
The jump should be big or a big enough jump based off of the rumors. The 5000 series will be hard to find and buy and you will also be paying full price or more. What is your budget or what is going to be your budget when you build your pc?
@@MrAnimescrazy Thank you for your message. My budget is around 2000-2500€, but I could also stretch it to 3000€+. I want a high-end PC, if I didn't wait, I would go for the RTX 4080. The PC will be optimized purely for gaming performance.
@28177 you can definitely get a 4080 or 4080 super/ 7800x3d/ 32 gig ddr5 build for your budget. I would buy it now instead of waiting. Will your build be all white or all black or black and white? My build is my profile picture I went with my first all white high end build I built last year with the gigabyte aero oc 4090/ 7800x3d/ 64 gigs of ddr5 in the white phanteks nv7 case. The pc is a beast and I clean it once a month.
My newest build paires 1 step back because that's how I roll. a 7700X with a 7900GRE. i think that will rock
Man those 7900GRE spikes in FPS were rough compared to the 4070. Is that noticeable in game?
100%
@@magnomliman8114 explain do you have it or just by video?
Mechwarrior 5 (2019) with ray tracing makes my new 4070 Ti Super cry... Need less to say going from a RTX2080 8GB has really just allowed me to up the quality settings to max from very high due to the extra VRAM which does increase fps 50% or about the same performance with Ray tracing shadows 100fps, but using reflections brings it down to about 40fps and less in heated action. I'll have to play with the settings a little while nVidia recommends to use high performance DLSS the image quality is just awful at 2560x3440!!!!!
Still happy with my RX6800. Great performance, low consumption and good temps.
for the past few months, there were deals all across EU for less than 400 Eu / $, just a banger deal! Too bad their stock is running out
The RX6800 was my first amd card. Solid but broken drivers in some of the game I played that took amd a year to fix. I now have a 4080 super. Miles better. No more buggy graphics and crashes.
I have a golden sample RX 6800.
Runs at 2.55GHz while being undervolted. Runs with RX 6800XT performance
power consumption, raw power, rt performance, vram:bus.. everything about this card is just perfect according to its price.. enjoy your card
but for me i have terrible driver experience from team amd. and for that i have no trust on amd cards
@@prabhakardhar1379 i have had tree AMD cards: HD 7870, RX 580 and RX6800. Luckly no issues at all
Exactly right. The only gpu that sort of makes sense from nvidia is the 4070ti Super. If it didn't have that ridiculous name :D would be a meaningful upgrade for my 11gb 2080ti, but I'm not in a rush.
I ended up buying a 6800 non xt. The price was right at $391. Looking forward to using it. I wanted 6800 xt but I couldn’t find one at the $460 price point. Overall I think I made the right decision, because I wanted to stay under $500 while getting great value. This video was really interesting.
Amazing card,im using it for few years already,on 1440p u will just easly scroll on max settings in 99% of games and enjoy high frame rates 🤘
the comparison to the 1060 at 10:27 really struck me coming from a 1060 3GB right now lol
I went for 6800 non-XT from XFX a few months ago, for 1800PLN (Poland) + 5600X paired with 3600 CL16.
7900xtx is better in some games than the 4080 Super. I play Warzone and I get similar FPS at 4K as compared to the 4090 with a 7900xtx.
I like my 7800xt. No complaints. I have it matched up with a 7800x3d. Very happy with both of them.
I
Always buy the last generation when everyone is upgrading. Been doing this for 20 years. Last buy was an RTX 3080 Zotac Amp Holo with a Raijintek Morpheus for 390€ on ebay. Cool, quiet and powerful.
What would you recommend for someone who has about £400, should I get the 6800 or 7700xt. I mostly play Fortnite, rocket league and occasional The Finals. For the games I play, I’m not sure the more VRAM is necessary and the 7700xt might perform better. What do you think?
Edit: I play at 1080p but would like to play at 1440p in the future
fortnite runs better on nvidia. Get a used 3080 if you can
stupid to get under 16gb gpu in 2020s
Picked up a like new 6800xt Taichi for $445 on ebay. Satisfied.
The one thing that makes me love the RTX 3050 6GB is that its 70W and not 115W like the RTX 4060 , Yes 2GB less Vram but Im very restricted on Electric Bills since the price went up here in the seychelles and its still going to go up so building a system that uses under 200W is a big go to for me - Ryzen 5 3600 and 32GB of Ram :D oh and the RTX 3050 6GB is cheaper $190 for me than the RX 6600 $230 (Plus shipping since its around $20 to $30 DHL )
Very well put together summation of the current market. I have to say, I disagree with the 4070 super being a good option for ray-tracing, since the vram will bottleneck it's ray tracing performance regardless of how much better Nvidia does it. However, you've changed my mind about the 4070 ti super, and its value as a ray tracing card.
Personally, I will probably wait until next gen, when AMD will most likely give us 7900 xt performance in the 500-600 dollar range with *improved* RT. And adequate Vram, which I don't trust nvidia to do. Who knows though, maybe nvidia's next gen ray-tracing will blow AMD out of the water, bringing it to being a setting without much performance hit.
I was thinking about buying a 6700 XT as a eGPU for gaming on a mini PC but then I had a huzzah moment and I looked for the 2080ti on eBay. They're both around the same price and from brief vids on CZcams, it seems the 2080 ti does better when it comes to FPS. Any thoughts?
Get the gpu that performs better.
Their raw performance is the same, but nvidia has better features. This is new vs used, so your choice.
@danielowentech i just wanted to ask you, what is the best GPU to maximize the bottleneck of using a razer core x?
The best hardware man. love y!
Higher resolution higher VRAM, 2060 vs 4060 ti, 4060 ti runs cooler so does CPU but make sure room in case to mount it, if have AIO instead of metal block heatsink if can flip 1 fan to front of radiator and to make room and install card upside down to flip it and put in slot do it. Its less pins at 8 pins and will work in older systems with lower power supplies 1 power cable. May need extra wire support. With 2060 needs 2 power cables. Otherwise, might need a different case, so take that in mind when determining overall cost and effort. 2 fan video will probably fit most cased. A 3 fan card may not. If you want proprietary AI tech access or dev and want access to NVIDIA AI tools you gotta use an NVIDIA RTX card. Same with OMNIVERSE
Noob here! I was wondering if I mainly play open world/RPGS/single player games such as: Elden ring,Dragons Dogma 2, Baldurs gate 3 or Older games like Morrowind,Oblivion or Skyrim/Enderal modded. :D What should I aim for and keep in mind choosing my GPUs?
depends if you wanna play skyrim modded i would recommend 3080 used its almost as good as the 4070 for much cheaper
in summary ..... buy AMD
I’m gonna get the 7800 xt from amd, you think that’s a decent one ?
@@Cognitoman yes or a bit more the 7900gre .
Just sold my 3070ti as I've not been playing many games and it was just sitting in there depreciating when I could just use a basic card for now. Maybe purchase a used 6600/XT if I want to game but I pretty much play older games anyways. Got my temp old HD5450 1GB (DDR3)... Good enough for day to day. I'm sure somewhere there is a listing on eBay with this card in it stating 'Gaming PC'... lol
I just got a 4k/120 M28u monitor, and started looking at GPU upgrades from a 3070....4090 isn't an option, kinda feels like it'd be wise to wait for the next cards for a substantial leap in the 5070 range...except nvidia will probably charge $999 for it and then I'd wish I just got a 7900XTX in the first place.
On PC part picker, 6000 series cards are either showing as unavailable (no price options) or significantly more expensive than 7000 series cards. 6800s are going for over $600. I thinki it's time to move on and stop recing 6000 series, especially since they seem to be higher draw, higher temp, and higher fan speed cards, too.
What really torques me right now is there's no 7700xt with 16gb vram. 7700, 7800, and 7900gre are all proportional price to framerate from what I've seen, being at $400, $480, and $550, respectively. But for 1440p, does that mean you save money and go with the 7700xt with 12gb and possibly lose out later, or spend the extra 150 and get the 7900gre with 16gb and be slightly more future proofed for higher vram usage?
But at the same time, my CPU (R5 2600) is also in line to be upgraded... So on games like Helldivers 2, would my initial thoughts of an R5 5600 become the bottleneck for the 7900gre, and I should spring for the 5800x3d at literally TWICE the price (since the 5600x3d is apparently also absent the market) or should I just pair it with the lower spec 7700xt and save cash on both ends?
My biggest issue with the AMD alternatives on products that compete with the Nvidia 4070, is the need for 2 PCIE/CPU 8 pin connectors. The AMD products draw so much more power, for so little gain.
If you have the capacity on your PSU it's no issue, but if you have a PSU with just 4 ports (like my Corsair RM850e (2023), and you already have a mobo needing two and AIO/RGB fans that need another - that only leaves one port. If you need to buy a new PSU, it's another $100+ that you need to factor in.
What kind of a fan setup uses 8pin pcie power connectors? The 7900 GRE uses 30% more power for 18% more performance, I don't think a 10% efficiency lead is so massive.
Is it worthy to buy a Rx 6750 XT? I mean, will it endure the new games of 2024, 2025 and maybe 2016 on 1080 p?
I just got a 7800XT Hellhound for 470€. I been switching between Green and Red for like a decade now, currently on a 2070 Super. Wonder how this one will turn out, since the card before that, the RX 580, did cause me some headache.
Still, eager to try out the Hellhound
Getting a new build , im looking at the i7 17400k combined with the RX 7900 XT ,, i looked at putting it with the 4070 Ti super , the jump in price isnt worth it tbh ,, ive got the build to just under £2000 , i could save money here and there but if the budget is £2000 i dont really want to get a lesser gfx card because its good value and then in two years it needs replacing.
If anyone does have any good points though about a different card then im willing to listen ,, i was going to put a 7 7800x3d , but that went over £2000 which surprised me
Just wanted to point out that as for right now, 4090 FE is available in Europe for the first time in months (And at MSRP!)

Been looking at the 7800xt and then the 7900gre came out. Local store have the 6900xt for $530. What would be a good purchase the 6900xt or the 7900gre?
I would go with the 7900 green but look at comparisons on youtube.
gre
So I have an issue with upgrading to a 4070 Super. I lean towards the 7900 GRE because it has 4 more GB of Vram than my current rtx3060. should that really matter to me? the 4070 super only has 12 gb. I'm not sure if I care that much about ray tracing since in my opinion were just not there in full enough force with ray tracing performance when it comes to cards at the 5-600 dollar range. Sometimes I'm even shocked to see how bad RT can bring a HIGH end card to its knees. All that being said no I don't care too much about RT. I really just want to be able to match my monitors 144 hz refresh rate (or as close as I can get in some titles) while having some awesome looking graphics while running native 1440p. Lately your videos have had me highly considering the 7900 gre, I think it's the right card for me.
Look at comparisons of the 4070 super vs the 7900gre.
Considering you talk about graphics cards with no power cable and older generation products I feel you should consider cost of energy too if you haven't already.
I don't know regarding AMD 7000 and 6000 series but maybe 7000 ones have better raytracing support for instance which could possibly help too but last I checked AMD was performing so poorly there that maybe it's not worth consideration.
I know the 7700 xt just hasn't been in a great place since release. My local store has an open box asrock steel legend for 365$. Should i go jump on that?
stupid to get 12gb gpu in 2020s
6600 for budget , 6700xt if you want that little extra bump :)
The best graphics card now is the Arc A770 16GB with the latest drivers. $299.99 at MicroCenter for the Asrock Phantom Gaming one.
