  • Skyrim is home to many cities, and one of its most iconic is Whiterun. An ancient trade hub that occupies a critical position in central Skyrim, for centuries Whiterun was among the most prosperous settlements in the world. However, by the time the events of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim kick off, the city has been weakened by generations of instability and today it's not quite the same as it once was. Regardless, Whiterun occupies a pivotal role in Skyrim's main questline and many of its side narratives. So today we'll be digging a bit deeper into the lore and lesser-known details of this legendary city. Sit back and relax as we explore five things you (probably) never knew about the city of Whiterun in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Love in "Dragon Rising" when Irileth is giving the guards her pep talk there's this one guard who just says it like it is only really quietly. A dragon is attacking Whiterun? "Now we're for it!" he mutters. And when she shouts, "Who's with me?" he whispers, "We're so dead!" Only guard in the game who acts like dragons are really bad news.

My best guess your game will keep crashing or you'll get stuck during some cutscene where Balgruuf or Hrongar are suppose to show up, because they will not be able to deliver their lines, so rest of the cutscene won't trigger and you'll just have bunch of characters standing in loop, because they aren't suppose to be dead as "essential NPC". non-essentials of course just get replacement by their counterparts, spouses, apprentices, etc.

It would be possible to kick Terak out without killing him. You just had to report him to the jarls steward who would then come and kick him out.
I know this because it seems either the mod Relationship Dialouge Overhaul or Cutting Room Floor accidentally brought him back into my game. After kicking him out he would just wander around Whiterun, hating you.

In 10 years of playing the game and being a UESP editor, I don't recall ever having noticed that the "random" rock cluster behind the Skyforge *isn't* a random rock cluster! How have I not noticed this? I've been high enough to notice that Jorrvaskr is a boat...I guess I just never looked in the direction of the forge before. 🤷‍♂️

@Jacob Underwood not finishing all things in big games is normal. Important is for cut content to not influence rest of the game negatively (like this cut out butterfly quest). But relesing a game full of buggs that have been known for years is just evil. Not mentioning this Role play game drama Bethesda created not long ago where they preety much copied some other title just changing details, but it still was quite obvious.
After what happened with fallout 76 I dont trust them with TES VI. Even tho I love Skyrim and play it to this day I will wait with puchase of TES VI until proper reviews come out. Bethesda got lazy and unimaginatice with their products not mentioning lying about their products before relase. I swear if I heare "it just works" again when they present TES VI I'm just giving up on them -_-

I'm not sure if this was Cutting Room Floor or RDO (both I believe include Terek) but there is another choice to get rid of him. If you go to Avinici back in Dragon's Reach you can tell him about the squatter. It takes a minute but you can then follow Avinici who tells you that he'll take care of it, and a guard back to Breezehome. The ensuing scene (which I won't spoil) is hilarious.
