Skyrim: 5 Things They Never Told You About Riften

  • Skyrim is a game with no shortage of towns and cities. Perhaps the settlement with most notorious reputation however, is Riften. Capital of the Rift hold, Riften has become synonymous with the Thieves Guild and corruption in The Elder Scrolls franchise and is easily regarded as among Skyrim's most dangerous places. What the Thieves Guild doesn't control here, the powerful Black-Briar family does and it seems no place in Skyrim is less vulnerable to shady influences. However, there's more to this port city than meets the eye and indeed Riften is keeping quite a few secrets. So today we'll be exploring five things you (probably) didn't know about the city of Riften in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

      @McPlayer8t Před 4 lety +16

      I disagree, at least on this occasion. What you say makes sense, but Brynjolf more or less tells you why it is there. Also, it is not like we see copies of the book all over the place, generally we only see them during related quests, and why would they leave a copy in a Temple of Mara? Then again, is placing an evil book in the temple framing a priest for murder? Only Brynjolf knows, and Brynjolf isn't... never mind.

    For the "Things they never told you about Morthal" list video that’s likely coming up, I found something new after 2.5k hours of playing: during the quest Laid to Rest, when you discover the plot by vampires to enslave the town, once you kill Laellete, I’d say most players end up immediately rushing over to Alva’s house in order to gather evidence.
    However, if you instead go to the Moorside Inn and talk to the innkeeper, she has a unique dialogue option where you can ask her about Laellete. And if you talk to Alva herself, she mentions that she knows you killed Laellete. I’d wager most players probably haven’t heard that dialogue.

    I love Nate's vids, but sometimes it's like:
    "Skyrim has many fights with dragons, and so many players have no doubt noticed that glowing, swooshy effect after killing one.
    But, did you know that's not just a cool visual effect on Bethesda's part?
    If you pay attention to some in-game conversations and lore, you are actually - in those moments - CONSUMING A DRAGON'S SOUL.
    Why would the player be doing that? What would a dragon soul taste like? And where in the lore does this fit in?

    I just discovered a place I never knew existed! It’s called “The Chill” and it’s north of the College of Winterhold on a large island directly against the invisible wall. Maybe you could cover it in a video. It’s a small cave but really strange

    Maybe the Orc camps all around the outside of the map would be a good video. Those are rarely talked about

    I'd like to think that "A Kiss, Sweet Mother" was actually given to Aventus by Cicero in Riften. Come to think of it, how could a mere kid travel from Riften to Windhelm alone. He prolly had help escaping the city and was heavily influenced into performing the sacrament. I think it was Cicero. But since as a Keeper, he is not allowed to take any contract to kill, he merely influenced Aventus, rather killing Grelod himself. And we all know we can meet Cicero going to the direction of Whiterun from the North. Why would he come from the north? Visited Dawnstar maybe? Or Windhelm?

      Astrid does kind of hint that Cicero took longer than expected getting to the falkreath sanctuary.

    I was playing recently and heard a rare random dialogue between Maven and Branshei, before starting the ring quest. I didn't hear it well but Maven was very angry at Branshei for something and warned him. Never heard that dialogue trigger after so many replays.

    I don’t know if it’s already in a video, but during the dark brotherhood quest to kill an empire, if you wear a chefs full outfit (hat and clothes) when you confront the guards you can unlock some unique dialogue

    technically the Riften bandit attacks are sort of referenced by the guards when they say "been too long since we've had a good bandit raid" so that can kind of be linked to that.
