    Will this scan gauge 2 work on my 95.5 Tacoma? It has an obd2 port

  • @unnamedsomebodyintheuniver1761

    I bought this scan gauge 2 but it does not display the Transmission Fluid Temperature or Engine Oil Temperature. I woud have been nice if you showed how you setup your scan gauge. For me right now, this scan gauge is practically useless. May be I am missing something.

      Scan gauge has this on their website. In a perfect world, we would spoon feed everyone, but sometimes you need to be self-sufficient and figure things out yourself. This video was about showcasing the Spiker Engineering mount, not how to program your Scan Gauge or Ultra Gauge. But, since I'm feeling generous, I'll give you the link to the Scan Gauge website so you can look up the necessary transmission temp commands. www.scangauge.com/support/x-gauge-commands/toyota-lexus-scion/ - Timmy

      Yes, you can calibrate speed, fuel economy, etc, on both types of gauges

  • @mark2073
    @mark2073 Před 4 lety

    With the 3M tape I guess it isn't easily removable once installed to use in another veeehickle, or for security reasons so you don't advertise to everyone you have a gauge there. Presumably some additional mods to the end of the bracket could make it removable. Leon did the hard part already of making the bracket that attaches to the pillar.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  Před 4 lety +1

      It's 3M Dual Lock tape. It's a 2 part interlocking tape, so it's removable - one half stays with the mount, the other with the Scangauge II if you want to pull the Scangauge II off & hide it for safe keeping in your glovebox or something.

    • @lyonkster
      @lyonkster Před 4 lety

      That dual lock tape is like Velcro in that it's separable, but much stronger. It's similar to the FastTrack mounting tape, and should be good for hundreds of reuses.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  Před 4 lety +2

      1996-1998 did not have a readout from the ECU for trans temp. The Scangauge II can only display that value on 1999-2002 Toyota 4Runners. We have a video where we install a Trans temp gauge for 1996-1998 years. czcams.com/video/fT_2szdKXRM/video.html

      @@TimmyTheToolman Tim is it possible to install the maxtow gauge by just super glueing the pod base to the a pillar? I dont wana remove the plastic trim, I can just run the wiring down the a pillar and stuff it in as good as I can. Also I dont really care for the dim, I actually like it always on with the light, so can i just connect it to a 12v socket? or do i have to connect all of those colors? Also i have a 97 taco reg cab and i dont have the tran cooler…..where can i find the line to put the barbs into? thx. I know i’ll figuire it out, thanks for all you do.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  Před 2 lety

      @@yotagang3705I don't know if they're enough surface area to adhere it to the plastic trim. I think you should just remove it. It's simple. As long as the gauge gets 12v power, it should work. At a minimum you would need 12v power and a ground. If your Taco has an automatic transmission, it has a cooler. If it's a manual transmission, then it doesn't have a cooler.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  Před 4 lety

      I prefer a Scangauge II. Not saying it's better. Trans temp is a huge reason why I have a Scangauge II in the first place.

    • @lyonkster
      @lyonkster Před 4 lety

      Ultragauge MX does have the capability to display trans temps. I like the UG because it displays more gauges at one time, and is cheaper. But the SG has the buttons on the front, whereas the UG's buttons are on the back and harder to use. Both are good gauges.

    Just the beginning disclosure going by so fast let's me know what kind of person making this video is! Hell no to this kind of work

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  Před 4 lety

      Dude, you can pause it if you really want to read it. The disclosure is just some legal mumbo jumbo that's not important. It's only there for sue happy people who want to blame others for their own mistakes. The important information is what we are showing people how to do. There's different levels of DIY auto repair videos out there and I would have to say our videos are more detailed than probably 99% of the videos out there. One of the complaints we've heard many times is our videos are too long and it's because we offer great detail so people can be successful. If you're going to let a stupid disclaimer rolling by too fast on the screen stop you from watching our videos, it's your loss, not ours. And, we know what kind of people we are and it's not what you're inferring. We've helped out countless people with our videos and we will continue to do so without your stamp of approval. Happy Trails.

    • @michaelwilson1493
      @michaelwilson1493 Před 4 lety

      It's a standard disclaimer and is only there so he's covered legally. Your average user who isn't insane enough to blame Tim doesn't care about it. That's why he makes it fast.
