2 years ago I released my first short film Order 66. It was originally created in 2 months to learn Unreal Engine. At the time there were a lot of things I didn't know how to do properly... Burn marks, fog, environments, tweaking animations (all the original animations were repurposed from Fallen Order). And I struggled to create the vision I had in my head.
With Unreal Engine 5 and the knowledge I have now, I decided to spend 10 more days doing a basic remaster of the short. Remaking old shots that were broken, tweaking ugly clipping & poses in animations, reframing shots, toning down camera shake and overhauling the lighting with Lumen. What's interesting though is that as a result of cleaning it up, other issues become more noticeable and at times I find myself preferring the original.
Which is why the original will always be available for viewing and this is more of an experiment for me to see how much I could push the scene in a limited time with UE5. There are probably other areas I could have fixed up more, but I think that time would be better spent on new content rather than revisiting old shorts.
For the most part the structure of this short has remained the same, I tried not to alter anything too heavily, but let me know your thoughts. Is this an improvement? Do you prefer the original's vibrant style? Do any issues stand out more here? Do you even notice any of the changes? Let me know!

Definitely with some of your best work. I wish you would make one more like 10 minutes long. I don't know how many hours that would take you to make though

I liked the original. This focuses on one part rather than showing the republic falling with darth maul doing a VO. But i will say i really liked the inclusion of the second sister.

Well. There were a few Jedi that didn't get killed immediately by surprise but the majority was not lucky.
