After watching this it made me realize how short The Rock and Stone Colds career was compared to other wrestlers. But I'm glad they were going at it in both of their primes.

Their careers seem short, because The Attitude Era was short. 97-2002 Austin 95-2003.... 04 if you count his GM run. Rock 96-2003... 04 if you count his returns

They were THE BEST TO EVER DO IT….they didn’t need a long career, others need more time to become legends…..these boys were legends almost basically since the beginning. It’s like Micheal Jordan and Kobe both playing in their primes at the same time 😳

Honestly even a long career is a decade tops of prime stuff, sadly for decades they were considered contractors not employees, got zero benefits, awful healthcare, 365 working days and extremely bleak prospects of living past their 50s as Roddy Piper put it so bluntly he wouldn't live to 65,
These guys had it worse than the NFL and that's insanely saying a lot

This reminds me of my own life in a way....when I was a kid, I had an "arch enemy" so to speak....this kid from the other side of Roosevelt Boulevard in NE Philly. I was from the Frankford side, he was from the Summerdale side, and we HATED each other for reasons still unknown to either of us.....but as kids, I'd say from the age of about 7 to we were like 17, we would fist fight literally every time we saw each other....I'm talking easy 40 times, maybe more. Then years go by without seeing each other until one day, as adult men now, we run into each other randomly in a New Jersey bar....we've been best friends ever since, and honestly I can't imagine my life without this dude....shits crazy.

There are a lot of Austin vs. Rock videos out there, but this one you made is by far the best. Most of these videos just include their IC battles and their WM battles. But you actually talked about the parallels of their careers before they even came face to face. This is really well done.
Btw, as big of a fan as I was for The Rock, I never knew that SS 2001 was the first time he ever pinned SCSA. That’s crazy.

*What made their feud so incredible is that not only really the two biggest draws of the Attitude Era but they were also built equally at the top. Sure they’ve had many matches together but the chemistry that they had was just incredible because it was always like lightning in a bottle. It’s just a shame that the company can’t operate the same way by having to multiple megastars at the top. But nowadays they think it should only be about one guy at the top which really sucks.*

Yeah, Austin had been around for a while prior to the rise of his superstardom but was struggling to find an identity that resonated with the WWF audience. It was the same case with The Rock, they both needed to hit the reset button and start all over again. The new characters unintentionally got them over, interesting right ?

I've watched so many different videos about this rivalry and I can't get enough of it. I was born during Hulkamania and 1997 is my favorite year in the WWF because I was watching the creation of the Attitude era and one of the greatest Feuds ever, it still blows my mind. When it was happening I felt excited now I feel honored. Wrestlemania 15 felt like the opening of a new book and Wrestlemania 17 feels like the book closed. I stopped watching wrestling in 2004 because I didn't find anything interesting in the new wrestlers. Back in 2011 I re watched the old wrestling videos on youtube and dailymotion and when I got to 2002 It was hard for me to watch pass that because I knew this was the beginning of the end for the wrestling I grew up loving. Great video and commentary 👍👍

It's kinda funny how similar their WWE careers started. The Ringmaster & Rocky Maivia were gimmicks that wouldn't lead them anywhere, they both got over as heels, to the point where they'd end up being cheered & becoming babyfaces. Also a rare case where you have 2 number 1 guys in the same era. That doesn't really happen nowadays.

So many amazing memories from my childhood. The greatest rivalry and the two biggest ever stars in pro wrestling

  • @OmAcC650

Such an amazing encapsalation of 1 of the most memorable times of my childhood. Austin & Rock/Rock & Austin era, being able to say I grew up at the same time they both rose to prominence and the absolute heigth of their wrestling careers. To say they were both the pillars of their Attitude Era is too accurate.
Not that I wouldn't dare recognize all the other amazing talent of the Era. But it was pretty clear, when these 2 got hot, catch phrases that shouldn't have worked... worked for them. "What?!", "And that's the bottom line...", "Austin 3:16!!!", "Oh Hell Yeah!!!" to "Roody Poo Candy Ass!", "Jabroni!", "It doesn't Matter!!!", "Just Bring It!", "Who in the blue hell are you?!". Lol
They both became such well rounded talents in every way. I also agree. They absolutely were the Yin to each other's Yang. No disrespect to all the other roster members during their era. These 2 just complimented each other so well and should be the start, middle, and end class of what great chemestry is, as they both gave to each other as much as they took. As much as I grew to love Cena, Orton, Bautista, and Lesner. None of them ever had with each other the chemestry Austin and Rock had. If only WWE didn't royally screw up so much with their current crop of talent. Seth and Roman could have achieved this level of popularity. If done right, AJ and Finn could have reached this. There are a lot of current WWE talent who could be pushed to this level if Vince would just get the hell out of the way and let Paul and Stephanie run things.
But none the less. This video damn right magical! Amazing work to everyone involved over there at Cultaholic! I hope to see more content like this. How about a video on the Outsiders, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

Pretty epic highlight of their history, weaving their own stories together into the intertwined story that was their careers. Truly the definition of that Attitude Era. Gret job!

I think it can be argued that, considering the money it generated and how long it lasted, driving the biggest boom period of pro wrestling, this might be the BIGGEST feud ever, even if it isn’t the GREATEST feud ever.

Such Awesome memories. Great categorical narration. All in sequence too with behind the scenes info that even as an avid fan of that era I was naive about... I could listen to this feud ab Stone Cold, The Rock & Vince for Hours!! :)

Austin's beginning photo with his later photo together speaking about his beginning to speaking about his relationships while showing his Don't Trust Anybody shirt. What masterpiece of a video. Made me tear up in 2 minutes. 😢

Holy shit, this was excellent. You really encapsulated what was a real end of the era because in 2003, you could see how Austin in the ring was not the same blow the roof off Austin of years earlier and it begs the question if Austin didn't walk out on the WWF, would we have even gotten the match in Seattle?

I think their first encounter at WrestleMania 15 was the best, I didn’t like it when Stone Cold turned heel at 17 and it was kinda depressing to see him retire at 19.

People always lament why Vince never wanted to 'bring back' or recreate the Attitude Era, but it could never be brought back because Austin and Rock were once-in-a-lifetime performers, who just happened to peak at the same time. You are never getting two AAA+ players like that in wrestling simultaneously ever again. And that's why it can never be brought back.

I started watching a couple weeks after wrestlemania 2000, and so for my fan experience, wrestlemania x7 is the first mania, and the build up has never been topped
Would love to watch WWF year 2001 again for the first time

My childhood in one video. I grew up watching these guys and the Monday night wars. I was in my early teens when the attitude era kicked off and what an awesome era it was. My dad bought every wwf ppv and some of the wcw’s ppvs and fam and friends would all chip in a little and come watch at our house. We’d get pizzas and wings and just have a good time. Damn we had no idea how lucky we were as we were witnessing these two guys rise. Best memories ever.
