- How does somebody get into the professional wrestling business almost by accident, become one of the most popular television stars on the planet and then leave the industry by suing its most powerful organisation for over one hundred million dollars? And all in a little over a three-year period. That is the story - well, part of the story - of Sable, the blonde knockout who became a household name at the height of WWE’s Attitude Era.

I can't remember what podcast he was on (maybe Jericho?) but yeah, that's how he tells the story too lol
Marc said that at the time Brock had no mma training and he was already a golden Glove champion, so he could beat up brock if he wanted. But his Christianity faith didn't let him do that
@@ananyaraizada7657 Brock was known to beat Kurt Angle in REAL Wrestling. You know. The kind that High School, College, and MMA do???

I wish Sable all the best of luck.
It’s why I’ll always say; Sable had the career path of her time. No diva has history with the industry unlike Sable.

For the amount they highlight now when the competitors are mothers or are pregnant, I genuinely had no idea that Sable was a mom her entire run.
Not only that, Sable's a grandma too
@syria0110 unless you're implying she was a grandmother in 1996, I don't see how that's relevant.
In the 90s that would've made her look "old" and "uncool". Same reason Marvel hated Spider-Man being married
It’s not surprising at all. Back then it was rare to hear about wrestlers’ families in kayfabe unless they were doing a sympathetic babyface thing, plus in the WWF was selling Sable entirely on her sex appeal. You’re not gonna get a bunch of horny ‘90s teenage boys to tune in every Monday by talking about your resident eye candy’s rugrats.
@@djcook3991Bingo. Zoomers and younger Millennials don’t realize this, but the whole concept of “milfs” didn’t really exist until American Pie came out in 1999. If your target audience was horny dudes aged 15 to 40 you just couldn’t portray a woman as both sexy and a mother, that’s why the only Baywatch character with kids was David Hasselhoff.
Vachon was a real wrestler , can’t blame her for being pissed
💯
She absolutely had a valid reason to be pissed, but that fury should’ve been directed at Vince & WWE way more than Sable. Luna is the one who made Sable look good in the ring, yet nobody from management even bothered thanking her. Vince also didn’t have to give Sable so much power….but he did. They could’ve put the belt on Luna, as a thank you for making Sable look competent in the ring so many times, but they didn’t.
Marc Mero actually seems like a genuinely decent person. Feel bad for that dude.
It’s crazy that some of the hugest people in wrestling are actually able to stay away. I hope Sable is enjoying her life nowadays.
With Brock being almost 20 years together of course she is , I don't blame her nice farm house she's good
@vampirascoffin870 no, she's doing crazy. Women like her need attention

That's why you don't marry a single mother. Even a widow.
@the_freedom_runner I would argue one step farther and say that's why you don't get married at all! Lol People suck. Anyone's potentially capable of doing it.
I read somewhere that she had been with different men before meeting Marc and even had affairs from time to time after marrying her ex husband !
@@aninda2457 She's worse than I thought...
Sable used her sex appeal throughout life. Single mothers are usually poison, but hot ones get more oppurtunities to snag a wealthy guy, Sable did it twice. Playboy is the ultimate trade your soul for money.
A marriage where greed and ambition took over everything else….Marc was the only guy who got fucked over here.
It's weird. Sable wanted the same thing as Chyna, just to different ends. If Chyna hadn't been involved with Trips and the cheating debacle, I wonder if she would have come back like Sable...
One thing is pretty clear that WWE at the time was a nightmare for all women. And the worst part is wcw didn't have any women's division so all these women were forced to do all these things to make a living.

*finds shit in bag.
Xpac- Yeah I was there.
Sable is a huge part of wwe history, and while I think some criticism towards her is valid, you can't deny how important she is to the business and how women can be just as popular to the men
that how I feel about the divas as well. Even though the idea was T&A at the time, the popularity and money these women drew helped pave the way (compared to the 70s and 80s of wrestling in the US) Even Japanese Joshi was pigeon holed in some respects despite the greater respect for women's wrestling
@googleuser7454 you have the divas of the late 90s and then the woman like madusa, Luna and the Japanese women the divas of the attitude era till 2009 kinda set womans wrestling back not the woman’s fault it was russo and then John laurnitis. Yaa they drew but they drew because of the age limit were horny teens to horny 20 year olds
The wife of Brock Lesnar
Huge part it could have did without her truth is WWE did more for her than other way around.
I don’t know the veracity of the sexual harassment claims Rena made.
However, Jim Ross, Jim cornette, Vince Russo and Bruce Prichard, four very different personalities, all tell the same exact story of when Vince first met Sable. He practically blew a load in his pants and acted like a immature 12 year old who saw boobs for the first time.

Sable is an example of how well WWE corrupt history. I didn't truly get into wrestling until post-WrestleMania X-Seven. By then, names like Sable and Bret Hart were almost completely erased. Nevermind how critical they were. Even Shawn Michaels was mostly minimize. It was like the company started in 1999 as far as they were concerned.
Well 2 things happened.
1 - FORCED NAME CHANGE.
2 - WCW what bought/beaten.
She wouldn't work in today's wrestling.
Well maybe the one's ain't WWE.
She better be glad she did all that
Before the PG era or she'll get kicked

You can't erase the GREATEST technical wrestler Ever.... In the world of professional wrestling... Yep even over one of my dream matches... Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle...
Sable was eye candy plan and simple.. end of conversation. She was no in ring performer.
I've usually been pretty anti-Sable, but I'm kind of coming round to her side really. She didn't want to be a full time wrestler, she didn't even really want to be a part time one she just earned enough to make it worth it. That's not a bad thing, and it's not her fault the WWE kept wanting to use her despite these things. And things like her and Mark not wanting her to do a strap match because she wasn't at all trained for it is completely fair. And the locker room and broader company culture at this time was completely toxic so everything Sable alleges probably fucking happened let's be honest.
Pretty much the ptc(parents television council)too.

I never thought she was all that pretty. She was cute but too much plastic and peroxide for my personal taste. It was what was popular at the time though.
I’ll always think Sable is a true icon, perhaps not a wrestling legend, but a true undisputed diva.
Her diva antics, publicity stunts, and backstage presence is still unmatched to this day in the industry. Like Chyna, though on another spectrum Sable blazed a career and a path for herself that no other woman can have.
Her timing with the company, and the entertainment aspect was aligned perfectly to create the most contemporary and adult atmosphere and that simply may never be replicated on television again.
Hello. First off, I would never call her a wrestler.
Referees and managers took better and more, bumps than she did.
I would call her the worst wrestler ever but she should never be consided

She also had half the charisma of Sunny.

Well said Sable was not like a lot of the other divas don't get me wrong most of those were beutiful but Sable was a whole other level she was amazingly beutiful and powerfully seductive especially in 2003 the ultimate trophy wife that had Brock Lesnar begging her at the bottom of her feet every move she's made turned to gold it was all one golden investment with a touch of elegance she got everything her way at the end and is set for life ..SUCCESS ... PROPS TO HER..
@@ernestkendon4213 Sable sold her image almost exclusively on sensuality. Her Slammy swimsuit stunt, her Playboy runs, and especially whenever in-ring.
There just simply may never be a time again where a character like Sable can THRIVE in entertainment. As now television is TV-14 rated, and the entertainment industry no longer has any major influence on wrestling as it did in the late 90’s and 00’s.
Women’s wrestling was marketed more as a reality sensation than a sport back then, as Chyna and Sable were legitimately going viral for their image.
Stacy and Torrie were upcoming poster girls, and Trish going to the top.
Now it’s the complete opposite, women wrestlers are more known for their in-ring competition as a more technically based sport than their entertainment endeavors. Which still sucks, because nobody in this generation knows wrestling like the 90’s and 00’s.
Meaning wrestling just stays in its own world like any other culture that hasn’t gone viral.
While WWE still had to use entertainment icons from the outside like Ronda Rousey to boost the women’s evolution to a higher standard and audience.
Sable and Chyna actually helped make a name for the WWE again and became an pop culture icon in-house and from the brand like the Rock and unlike Rousey, there’s irrefutable proof and admittance that these women were pulling ratings on their own at some points. While Charlotte, Sasha, and Becky have only improved the industry respectively within itself, and not brought the company outside of its domain and to new heights like Playboy or Total Divas. That’s when there actually was a spotlight on the women’s division outside of wrestling.
Nobody outside of wrestling now can probably tell you a thing about the Women’s Evolution, but housewives, sports fanatics, and pop culture junkies from that era of 2000’s culture can still tell you about Sable or Chyna.
What did Vince think was gonna happen when he signed someone w/o training just bc he thought she was pretty? (personally I didn't think much of Sable) Luna might've not been a perceived bombshell but she would work her behind off in the ring. Also you brought a normal person in around all these men that act like drunken & drugged up 13yos. On top of that you blew her head up. That wasn't a good recipe.
She slept with Vince McMahon and that's how she got her time to shine
Feel bad for Mero to this day. But looking at Sable you could see from a mile that she's the type of woman who will cheat on her partner if there's a "better deal" comes infront of her nose. Imagine you married a woman with that kind of look and she goes to work in such a big corporation like WWF under Vince's McMahon and a bunch of male wrestlers who's most of the time on the road. Mero was doomed...
Rena's appearance on Nitro was not in Chicago. It was in Washington, DC. How do I know? I was at that June 14, 1999 episode of Nitro. It was on the night after the Great American Bash, which was in Baltimore. She sat two sections away from me. We both had ringside seats.
i know its a different accent & way of speaking, but stands out every time he calls mero miro like the former rusev
The most influential woman in WWE history.
- The first WWE female in playboy
- The first woman to be called a "Diva"
- The women's title was brought back for her.
- The women's division was re-started due to her popularity
When you think about the women's title/division. When you think about the Divas era lasting nearly 20 years. Playboy deal lasting 10 years. It all started with Sable's success.
Miss Elizabeth was the OG and greatest of all time, Chyna was also in playboy so that's not saying much
@@Bergnutz Chyna got playboy after Sable's success. Miss Elizabeth said all but 2 words. A legend sure, but a pretty manager for Macho Man. Sable was the 2nd most popular star behind Austin in the Attitude Era. She had her own storylines, matches, feuds. She was the first "Diva"... Her and Liz are completely separate.
Mero deserved better than that.
Crazy how Mark Mero refused to be seen with another woman because he was a Christian but was ok with being seen as an abusive husband and was ok with her being in Playboy

I went to an XWF show in Hammond, IN and they did have one hell of a roster and all the wrestlers met fans before the show. I still have all the photos. I also have photos of Sable and Brock leaving a house show in Valparaiso, IN together before their relationship went public. I think you missed the Playboy issue Sable did with Torrie Wilson.

Call me crazy, but every wrestling fan that loved Stone Cold and The Rock, loved Sable just as much. She may have been on to something with her lawsuit if she could have proven it.
Sable wasn't ONLY cheating with Lesnar. Vince was tappin that ass long before that.
I watched the WWF during the mid to late 90's, then I quit watching wrestling when the WCW folded. IDK how, but I could just tell that Vince was infatuated with Sable. I could just tell by the energy Vince had when he said her name and how much airtime she got on TV.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE GRIND?!?!
She should still be in the Hall of Fame
Absolutely
as good as Sable was for the company, the fact she essentially stunted actual female athletes like Chyna and Luna from holding women's gold for so long, and also making the company keep putting down actual women's athletes for the next 10 to 15 years in favour of cute girls with appeal was super harmful to women's wrestling
Wow she did all of that?! Or was it the company? Let’s keep it real and place blame where it belongs. She was a beautiful woman and the fans loved her. It made the WWF lots of money and so they wanted to try and repeat that. It in fact worked with some other like Trish.
The WWE stopped caring about serious women’s wrestling in 1995 despite all the talented women they had and some good matches these women put on since then up until 2015. At which point they saw the success of women in legimate sports and decided to jump on the bandwagon for the good press they’d get. WWE and Vince were always the ones in control and never pushed it the way they could
Chyna wasn't part of the women's division then. and the women's title would not have been brought back at all if it wasnt for Sable.

🤣 Pacific Blue, silly cops on bicycles.
When the Rena/Mark marriage ended. Did Mark remain the legal guardian of Rena's daughter?
I'm not familiar with how that part of the story concluded.
The main issue I take with Rena is her treatment of Luna (she basically is a major contributor to why Luna died never having fulfilled her dream of being champion). But beyond that, the blame falls squarely on Vince McMahon. He pushed her to the moon, centered her in most everything and enabled her every step of the way because he's essentially a horny, adolescent boy in a grown man's body. To an extent, it's actually perfectly understandable how most any human would get a big head in that situation.
Scarlett Bardoeu would make a great Sable for a biopic.
Sable was the blueprint for Trish Stratus. Hire a model, see if they can make her do ring work. Sable said no, Trish said "throw me off a cell or something!".
Unfortunately, this then lead to things like the Diva Search, using the Sable blueprint to bring in models & try to make them work. Only Michelle McCool got it right.
Due to swinging towards this blueprint, women lost their position in WWE other than flavour of the month (Mickie, Melina, Beth, McCool) up until Paige/AJ and eventually the 4 horsewomen.
Sable inadvertently caused a horrendous downshift for females in the industry... via Vince thinking with his dick.
Michelle McCool was a Teacher
Brooke Tessmacher became a very good wrestler. Christy Hemme and Eve Torres were decent in the ring, as well as Michelle McCool. Layla has a good career.
Sable didn't lead to the diva search. the massive explosion in reality TV at the time is what lead to the diva search. Sable also didn't "cause a down shift for females". her popularity helped create more opportunities for women and she is the reason why the women's division was revived
Finally someone with common sense. This is not women empowerment. Women like Sable, Sunny downgraded the women's division.
@@QueenHela240 Sable's first run she stood up to abusive men like Vince McMahon and Marc Mero and went from a manager to a fighter. it was women empowerment whether you want to accept it or not
I had always wondered what the deal was with the way Sable lost the title. I just thought it was some Russo nonsense lol
I'm the biggest Cornette fan but his view on Sable is 100% biased. Now, couple that with Sunny and a couple of other divas' jealousy spewed over the years, the narrative changed in some matter.
But, the numbers don't lie. Sable will always be the biggest selling female star under sports entertainment and playboy at the time being able to appear on the cover thrice. She doesn't need wrestling skills to get over but she sure held her own. I hope she accepted the HOF before Brock retires and she haven't got the Ric Flair cosmetics.

Note the quotation marks
Seems that she was right in what she said.
Great video
Debra was stuck in the middle of that Chyna and Sable shoot 😭
As a young man Sable and Torrie drove me absolutely Nutz ! 😊
Brock’s living every boys dream
WADR...Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson are LEAGUES above Sable...
@@InspireCreate43My fav was Stacy tbh. But still the dude made it to wwe and ufc champ
Right she still looks good today. Imagine what Brock was doing to that ass in the 2000s lol that thang prolly look like worn out roast beef by now
@@EricJae.Yea man those legs
Sable was mid to me: decent body, ok face, and no personality. It’s a pass on this smash or pass lol.
That's why brock gets away with shit. His connection to Sable
Happy Birthday Jack!
Sable literally could have come back when Lesnar did and just owned the woman’s(divas) division back then with his star power backing up
The PG era ain't having none of that.😂
PG sable will be different.
Just like on the Simpsons homer
Was telling the burlesque girl to
Take it off that how guy's will
Be in front of their t.v. sets 😂
Damn Sable was crazy
Sable was amazing 🤩
For me Stacey Keibler was the ultimate wwe diva.
Torrie Wilson was the total package
@@Hunkzilla she was/still is def hot. But we all have our favourites, for me besides Keibler I loved Maryse also !!
The level of star Sable could have been if she had just taken the money
She got eyes on Sunday Night Heat. That's strong af lol
Heat used to be good in the beginning
Let’s be honest Vince is a creep
I don’t give a fuck what nobody say Sable is the fucking queen bee of the WWE legend, and an icon in my eyes and WWE need to give her her flowers and bow down to the queen
During the intro I honestly thought jack said was “full of come” not twists to come
I don’t think she should be in the HOF. She came in got too big for her britches. I was a huge fan of her especially when she sable bombed mark mero because that had never been done before. But her actions leading to her exit turned me off completely.
Sable was EXTREMELY beautiful and that's that. She could not wrestle, she could not sing, she could not act, she could not dance (noone cares if, for example, Bayley can dance and sing but it is 2023 and female wrestlers are...wrestlers. And come to think about it, Bayley actually has a good voice... Anyway...).
She flat out betrayed Mero. She was hard to work with according to everyone. She was full of herself.
Let's face it people. We all liked her back then. For obvious reasons. And it worked for her and WWE. We were the main demographic (14-15 to 34).
Thing is... We still are! We have become a bit wiser (I hope), we can find extremely beautiful models/pornstars with one click. And as far as wrestling is concerned, we now got tons of good looking women in WWE and AEW (Japan too) that are extremely good looking, charismatic and can also wrestle.
And Becky looks better (lucky Seth, you the man). Just wanted to say that.
P.S With all that said. Sincere condolences to her for what she is facing now with her present husband. Not her fault. Not the fault of their children.
Thank you for speaking the truth, I don't know what the fuck this documentary is talking about 😂😂
