in the UK, there are a few used oil "gas stations" as you americans like to say. They just add alcohol to the filtered veggy oil, this thins out the oil and you can just put the stugg straight into your tank and run it. No extra heating unit needed. The downside is the alcohol adds to the cost..
YOU DO NOT NEED A CONVERSION! I have a 80 300SD (same motor as vid) I collected from restaurants while driving over7500 miles all on the go. Instead of waiting to settle, Buy a Griffin G1000,10micron filter, a delavan pump, plumb it together and use your idling cars battery to power the operation. I kept mine in a Tupperware tote in the trunk. feed the hose into dumps. I spent 200 bucks on diesel to thin the fuel out when the temperature was chilly. thats it. Still drive the car today on oil
Isaac LeMasters what the amount of diesel per gallon of veggie oil when temps are chilly. And where would I get that filter. Thank you . I have been collecting 100s of gallons of oil for use later. Fuel is now over 3.00 a gallon here now.
Hello sir im from Indonesia sorry for the broken english, is there any engine trouble about salt that might contain inside the used oil? Thank you
It's a normal gatorade/powerade bottle. The wide mouth fits just right, and the threads allow it to be literally screwed into the funnel opening to keep it secure.
i don't really care what those liberal hippies have to say about the environment but I would do this just because it saves you a lot of money
Great Video! Thank You for sharing, I am truly inspired. Keep up the great work. I will be doing my own conversion soon.
Saving up for my 300d
+socal frijolito i ve a 300D 1986 and still working on 100% Filtered Old Veggie oil ! :D
@@RodrigoMaluf89 Still?
This is fantastic! Bravo! I first read about this in Mother Earth News some years ago. Great video.

In Europe more than half of total cars are diesel powered. Every single diesel engine can run on cooking oil (clean of course). You can buy a can of cooking oil, pour it to your diesel car tank and the motor would run even smoother. However, there is one condition: cooking oil thickens at much higher temperatures than diesel, therefore even +41°F would be critical.
That oil looked good! :) Most states have no hauling-permit required.
My wife works at a school,,I get free veg oil,I've been running on veg for about a year now,,no conversion,,no heat,if it's cold I run on 50 veg and 50 per cen't diseal, had no problems apart from,a fuel leaj, from return to tank pipe, and it's very clean,,I filter it once,. Was getting it from Costco at half the price from the gas station,,but now it's free,,car runs great,
yup you sure can. if you're on the east coast i recommend greasecar. they're up in Massachusetts. They sell the kits online or you can drive your car to them.
I love this, i will be doing this with with my car when i get one
great job
if you, use ethanol free thinners's in the oil you can use it in your straight away

Thereto you need an additional fuel-heating equipment which practically allows you to run the engine even in freezing winter temperatures. There are people who uses the filtered used cooking oil to power up their older diesel cars. Newer cars are too sensitive even for the used filtered cooking oil, but still can run on new cooking oil or the biodiesel fuel that is made from plants, cooking oil, or fat collected from the fat-removal clinics and processed by a special apparatus.
Brilliant love it
Cool vid
to IsaacLemasters - do you still operate your WVO vehicle? Would like some info on coversion and cleaning filter.
Thank you
Great great stuff. I'm gonna do this shortly, but yes, I'm still kinda stricken for space, but lets see.

In America diesel cars are pretty rare not to speak about the fact that it can run on oil. Your idea is not new, but in the states it's original for sure.
Diesel motor was invented with the intention to consume oil wastes. Only later it was discovered it is cheaper to run on the petroleum-related oil. As the gas prices goes up, people repeats the history and returns to diesel vehicles.
Hey Green Daddy Matt, I have the same W123, where did you purchase that funnel for pouring the clean oil into your 300D's tank? Is your Mercedes still running? The ol' girl looked great in her film debute! Nice job!
Put the waste oil sludge in a biodigester 👍
ive seen resturants dump that oil down the street drain before
can i do this to my 89 ford f250 4x4 7.3 idi thanks ?
how much does it cost to switch to vegetable power?
What aboyt emmisions?
Professor do you still run your car on veggie oil and if so have you had any problems sense please respond thank you sir
yes that can work but do people do this I myself puchase off road diesel in my comunity and and its 10cents cheaper than regular gasoline so i do dont mind pumping diesel fuel even if im paying 4.00$ a gallon

Finally, if you wanted to turn even greener, you might want to check for a new vehicle: replacing your 3 liter MB with another old car with 2 liter diesel engine (like the old 1.9 TDI); this would improve your fuel efficiency while adding a few HP.
A mechanic recently told me veggie vehicles break easier. Is that true?

What is more, before filling the tank you should have had the ground covered to prevent oil leakage. And don't tell me you're gonna fertilize the plants with that compost. How the plants are supposed to elicit a long-chain breaking reaction? Don't pollute your compost with the oil wastes unless you have long-chain-breaking bacteria, hopefully.
Is this legal?
Good idea but takes a ton of time
Oooo, yeah. That oil looks burnt @ 2:20. DO NOT get oil from places that deep fry!
wonder if hes still burning veg. I did biodiesel and svo in a w116 for 10 years then quit during covid. Time to get back to it with these BS fuel prices
My friend said his conversion will cost him $2500! 2000

You can filter it out I think...

There are a few flaws of your oil-processing idea. First of all, it's not advisable to keep oil supplies near the swimming pool. Oil leak is unavoidable and probably imminent. You should keep your barrels in the place which would protect the environment, supposing all the barrels cracked at the same time and everything leaked out. Although it's less likely to occur, but there'd be no risk though.
yeah greasecar in MA is much better. also, they make almost everything so about 95% of the conversion is done with parts made in the usa.
This is all a lie all you need to do is dump it threw a coffe filter into you're tank
but i will tell you this allot of people are careless they get grease all over the car the steering wheel it ends up on the seats the dash board keys get all nasty the headliner its crazy
great vid, but quit slamming your trunk. ;)
dont do it the salt content in the used fry oil has to much cooking salt and it will burn out the pump and fuck the engine
this is to much work i would rather pay 4.00 a gallon and get my 30mpg 40mpg to time to do all that
