    Икономия на гориво, използвайки олио вместо дизел. Мерцедес 124 дизел се справя без проблем, доказвайки че алтернативните горива за дизелови автомобили могат да се срещнат на всеки ъгъл.

    Last summer I ran my 1983 Mercedes diesel on used chip fat. No problems. Not even a clogged filter (it was pre-filtered oil). This year I'm installing a conversion kit to run fat or diesel year round

    @Renntag mercedes have a heater before the fuel gets to the injectors. but like i said for 5 years i've been running 50/50 corn oil/diesel and i havent had any problems.

    It is critical to filter and dry your waste oil. It is also critical to heat the oil to 160*F prior to injection. The cold oil will not combust properly and will 'coke' the ring lands.
    Also, it was Rudolph Diesel that invented the compression ignition motor named for him. The French wanted him to make it run on Peanut oil. He intended it to run on Petrol.

    Continued:
    I am 100% for personal use of VO as a fuel, but to get the best benefit from the BTU's in the WVO, it must be preheated.
    To appeal to someone's cheap side, warm up and purge on petroleum uses about a pint or less of fuel that will soon cost over $5/gal. Burning 50/50 blend, you are spending a bunch more money.
    Consider adding water injection to reduce ring land coking issues if you are going to stick with burning cold VO.

    Diesel will prevail and continues to be the best environmental option after walking, cycling, or horse carriage riding.

    @europe0wnz Granted you are able to "Get by" with Florida ambient temp, but the bottom line is that cold oil does not atomize as well, does not completely combust, and not only leaves carbon deposits on ring lands (Ring Coking), but also then gets into the oil causing other issues. Blending with Petrol is an easy out, but isnt the best solution.
    Long term performance is best when the oil is heated to 160*F (about), and start up/shut down is on Petroleum (Diesel, Kerosene, Home Heating Oil).

  • @europe0wnz
    @europe0wnz Před 12 lety

    @Renntag when ever i gets cold, i mix 50/50 diesel/oil. other then that, florida temp. is just find for the corn oil. and i believe mercedes already has a heater prior to the injectors, so its not needed anyways.

  • @ColinQuinnuniverse

    @europe0wnz
    I agree that it's possible. I have more than 50K miles on VO. I utilize heaters prior to injection to achieve the 160*F target temp. The motor makes less power on cold oil, and most diesels are more difficult to start. In some cases they will not start until heat is applied. (glow plugs working).
    I find that my benz is happiest when I shut down and start up on Petro-Diesel, Bio-Diesel, Kerosene, or HHO.

  • @ColinQuinnuniverse
    @ColinQuinnuniverse Před 12 lety

    @europe0wnz: The factory T-stat/heater that first appeared in 1986 on the OM603 (I believe this is correct) does not impart enough heat to make a difference. It is only intended to slightly warm petro-diesel to avoid gelling/waxing at below freezing temps. The T-stat will bypass the fuel to the IP once the right temp is achieved. I bypass this unit entirely as it is also a source of failure/leaking.
    I do not doubt your success so far, but I guarantee that performance is greater with hot oil.

    it has to be an old style indirect injection diesel. The new direct injection diesel won't take it without problems but they can run bio diesel which is a totally different processed product.

    • @SSMateuszSS

      No. This only applies to old diesel engines, like 1980 mercedes and older. The older engine the better.

    • @ssj4david
      @ssj4david Před 10 lety

      SSMateuszSS I agree. Newer german cars aren't designed for dependability and "true ownership" anymore. They're genuinely designed to squeeze every single penny out of their customers, at a dealership too. My neighbor has a W123 420SEL that I've seen as a daily driver for the past 20 years and looks absolutely pristine. Nothing like some of the late ;90's or early 00's junk that have already fell apart...
