Pensioner who runs his car on chip fat oil

- A pensioner from Sussex has got so fed up with the price of petrol that he has decided to run his vehicle on chip fat.
Derek Brown 69, from Hastings in East Sussex, decided to try the sunflower oil after a like-minded friend ran his car on the fluid without any problems. The sunflower oil and fat are not mineral-based fuels, so the emissions are less harmful, although there is a slight smell of chip fat as he passes you by. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
That car is going to have high cholesterol issues in the future
😂😂😂😂
*carlesterol
Its a diesel diesels take this stuff happily
But did you know that everything is nature, because it comes from the ground.
N bp also
So I can use diesel in my fryer?
AppleIC 😂😂😂
It would end up doing the same to you as if you would use this shit in a car lol
Try it😁😁but you can curiously try it on older diesel engine vehicle and be a discoverer😀😀 again filter it buy a diesel additive mix them together and use it
Sure, only if you use enough garlic and onions in whatever it is you are frying. Don't forget pepper as well.
Research diesel fuel on youtube not on Google its distillate from petroleum before products almost similar to vegetable oil in properties and how Rudolf Diesel died
Did he really need a basket for 2 bottles of vegetable oil? That's the real question here
What's wrong with it?
Yah why use two of your hands when you can just use one
Of course he's old. I had spine surgery, I wouldn't even be able to pick those up. Let alone bend down and get them :(
That’s almost as bad as the dude I seen in a pink suit use a full shopping cart in a gas station for a twelve pack of soda and a bag of chips
They have shopping carts at your gas station? And twelve packs of soda?
Smoking a bit, might need a new set of onion rings
Ade Ferranti 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's too fuqn good. Haha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ade Ferranti lol
Ade Ferranti hahahahaha
We are stuck in 2018 while this man is living in 3018
he looks like someone trying to be in disguise
Andrew White nose moustache and glasses
Andrew White I know exactly what you mean😂
😀😁😂🤣😃😄😅😆😊😊😏😣😥😁😂😂🤣😃😄😅😆
He's a dude... playing a dude.... disguised as another dude
ahh tropic thunder, love that film
I would never run my car with vegetable oil, that's just insane. I always splurge and go for the higher grade olive oil when filling up. This guys crazy!
Slap Boogz Fucking sunflower oil man cause I'm hardcore.
😂
dont be cheap go peanut oil
Stephen Murray re-botteling the same joke takes away from the humor.
Um....
its not the gas thats expensive ,its the taxation applied to it !
R D Ironically the tax is probably so high on fuel so that it funds war in the Middle East to ensure fuel prices are kept low.
No taxation
Without representation
It's 0,23 eurocents cheaper than Diesel
No shit Sherlock
A diesel engine was originally designed to run on peanut oil. I've run a diesel car many times on veg oil in the past and never had an issue
I did but the sulpha build up after a few months got me
His car sounds like a frypan
LOL had me dying
When I saw his car I died and he says his car goes like a rocket 😂😂😂
as you get older your sense of speed changes, its great for him or our fathers but waiting behind them is what we have to learn regardless of their age for the world keeps speeding up.
The Rocket comparing to effect of diesel fuel and cooking oil. It is true, I was doing the same on my old Audi 80. Was much powerful with oil. Was like ROCKET!
love it hahaha
SS i said the same thing!! Lol
But it is a diesel so if he wanted to feel like he was cool he could technically run it on jet fuel if he wanted to.. ;-)
Jet fuel is to lean work without damaging fuel pump. And power loss. I had tried both. with cooking oil diesel engine has most of power
I put diesel in my car and it works fine.
EXITMUSIC2011 hopefully the car you own is diesel because if it does not your car will work for a little and then it will be a problem
Luke Rondon yeps
Holmyjr17 Vlogs What the hell did you just vomit from your mouth?
Noooooo 🙀😱
Wow
He's paying more for oil than gas!
Its diesel and its the uk, they pay put the ass
bow its other way around.
in a few months cooking oil will be way more expensive
He gets 2 battered cod and a large chips per, 100 miles..
Not a bad idea till you realise 3.75 for 3 litres, litteraly not saving any money, happier fuel pump maybe but now you've made the street and anyone behind you fancy a chippy now
Alex Seaton it's UK. $7 per gallon gas.
Doesnt have to be new oil i was running my old mercedes on use cooking oil which i was getting for free
Alex Seaton - Asda sell 5 litres of veg for £4.50. 90p a litre. Costco are even cheaper if you can get a card.
You can use the oil after you cook your fries, just need to filter it.
Neverquiter 6 gallon is not gallon
After that the cars are working with cedar 😂
Cedar? I think you mean cheddar.
I tested on my ISUZU truck... and its good...
A. D. Of course.
*c a n a d a*
Advocatus Diaboli
you cant have it be 100 percent ethanol. for legal reasons.
because we dont want a guy to go to the gas station and take a drink of this ethanol and get drunk, and then run over some people.
His bloody speedo isn't even working the dodgy get
My neighbour's Mercedes van runs on used sunfloweroil. Every morning he warms up the engine for fifteen minutes and when he has left, the whole street smells like a giant fish 'n' chips shop... BWUAARRK!
Great story- lets hope he moves soon!
Britclip 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha
Lol I'm dying 😂😂😂
BWUAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRK!!!!!
I did this a few times 20 years back but do not try it in a modern common rail diesel
Roger Bailey you can run a certain percentage of automatic transmission fluid in the newer diesels.. it helps keep the injectors clean. We run up to 3 gallons at a time in my dads 06 f350 and it loves it. I run full tanks of waste motor oils and the like in my mercedes benz OM617 swapped 70 f100.. it burns it no problem all day long, road trips n all..
SDD525 No you won't, why would you?
Casval Char well your car exhaust will smell of fried food which may not be a bad thing but you may ruin your fuel pump and other parts which rely on the specific lubricating property of diesel fuel
Roger Bailey but you could mix cooking oil with diesel no?
Mike CorLeoné where do you live by chance cause I gotta find this out
probably get that speedo looked at
This look so fake x
i spotted that
Just a sensor😂
Not illegal, just keep your receipts. you are allowed to use 200 litres a month before you have to pay road fuel duty!
xendraven 😂😂 I looked at you're comment and thought you typed in peedo lmao
I ran my old Astra on rapeseed oil when diesel was stupidly expensive. It was 80% of the price per litre. I just drove it the same as always, no faster, no better economy. Every stop light had me looking for a chip-shop with a clogged extractor fan, but I got used to it.
And better for the environment as well
What gen astra? And is it the ones with the Isuzu diesel?
There is a farmer in Canada who grows canola and uses the oil to fuel all if this diesel farm equipment. The oil companies tried to use Canada's legal machinery to stop him.
As long as its clean and filtered it has the same BTU's as diesel fuel. So it works perfect.
Mustard oil has an oxygen molecule so you can even get I bit more power that way.
Diesel engines were originally intended to run on vegetable oil. The petroleum companies started selling cheaper #2 oil as diesel fuel and people switched to using it. It would be ridiculous for them to try to stop someone from using the original fuel. I doubt that what you said really happened.
This is so good I watched it twice... it goes like a rocket in fact 👊
Don't put this in your common rail kids!
Nissan Patrol GR 3.0 Di Turbo - mechanic told me a story recently about the arrogant pub bore in his village. Insisted, loudly, that his 2 year old Range Rover would run on veg.. it did. For about 3 miles!😆😆
Paul Smith Won't be cheap to fix on one of them lol!
I bet even his mech pump will shit itself in the winter. Silly old fool has had too much internet - I used to switch to oil in my Nova TD after a few miles. I also added some paraffin for when it was really cold.
Patrol td6 runs perfect :)
Konrad Sobierajski TD42 also :-)
Thanks for showing how a supermarket and a car works. They make it look like “will it work” while he was already driving on it for years. It’s quite common knowledge that it works.
wow, how do u know this. they probably don't want us to know, the who u knows who control! pls tell me what u know, tks, Lisa
Surely that can’t be cheaper than diesel.
andgate2000 it is if you use used veggie oil idk why he would use brand new veggie oil.
PJ Scotland - it has never been illegal. You used to have to keep receipts - but HMRC changed the rules over 10 years ago. It's something like 25k miles + per year before you have to start retaining receipts and paying fuel duty. I've done it on and off for years and did plenty of research beforehand. Funnily enough, nor have I ever been stopped. If I had, then the online MoT records held by DVLA would prove I only cover 7k a year and therefore using veg within the law.
Fart Farmer - diesels £1.23 a litrre where I live. I pay the equivalent of 90p a litre for unused veg. Used veg is impossible to come by nowadays as it gets bought up by companies making bio fuel. Besides, refining it is a ballache and not worth it unless you're covering big miles.
PJ Scotland not even close to illegal, you can use 2500L a year duty free, all you have to do is keep a record of what you use with receipts, obviously due to this it's very easy to stay under that 2500L limit if your so inclined.
This looks like an old video maybe about 10 year old or so which sounds about right as far as the cost of vegetable oil was back then cos I used to run my old mk3 Astra on the stuff for about a year with no issues, I also done my homework on the legality of using it for road use and you could use a hell of a lot before you had to pay tax, this was at a time when vegetable oil was about 30p per litre then it suddenly jumped to around 90p per litre and I stopped using it as this was around the price of diesel at the time
2:34, Rocket speed doesnt register apparently
no you got it wrong, he uses the chip fat oil to move the universe around the car. It's not actually moving
Matthew Parker
Well he isnt going to go rocket fast on a busy road is he?
Led Buzetzky *LMAO*
smh... you all got it wrong, the car was going so fast that the speedometer did a full rotation and just happened to be at 0 when they took the shot.
Oh man,that was funny..
Not sure why this 2 year old video was recommended to me but damn did his car go like a rocket
Everyone making fun about his car, he is an elderly person who had a very great idea so stop making fun of him
"A pensioner from Sussex has got so fed up with the price of petrol" *drives a diesel* XD
I bought a '96 on a 'P' 1.8 non turbo Escort diesel because I saw Jonny Smith on fifth gear with a Merc. I ran half diesel half veg oil & it ran better than pure diesel. Want to do it again but cant find the right car just now.
This video is truly amazing.
I did this many moons ago with my peugout 106 1.5 diesel with a 50/50 mix and probably worth doing now for anyone with an old style diesel engine with the way diesel prices are creeping up .
The thing is, these SVO or WVO conversions do work, but only really in hot climates. Otherwise there is a BUNCH of things that need to be done to the fuel pump, filters, filter heaters, and even fuel heaters to make it a daily driver in anywhere other than hot climates. Even in hot climates, it would be a good idea to do them regardless. The thinner that oil is, the better it will run and the less clogs. The price to do the conversion often outweighs the savings in general, unless you are doing WVO.
I did 40%chip fat oil and30%mustered oil and 1%petrol and 29%diesel it's really good work
Time to try it on a Lamborghini
Jerry Li, An old Lamborghini that runs on Diesel. You'd be a fool to put diesel in a petrol engine.
How the fuck did I get here😂😂😂
Artem Lobov fr😂😂
Vegetable oil is fine for older, IDI diesels, which isn't surprising since Rudolf Diesel's intent was to design an engine that ran on peanut oil. Unfortunately, modern common rail diesels can only run safely on the purest, tier 1 diesel fuel.
There is the point!
i have a question , i like cooking and know that if oil gets too hot it basically goes into a giant fire ball , so if it is a really hot day or you are driving around, where your oil is isn't it gonna heat up the metal which will heat up the oil so much it sets on fire and burns down ur car ? i have no problem u doing this im just rlly confused
Would this work with a 2015 bmw diesel X4?
Yes, it WILL RUN. It is an expensive way of replacing Diesel. Use USED cooking oil, break it down from long chain polymers to "short" chain polymers using "trans-esterification" to make BIODIESEL. If you get the used oil for free, and you buy the 2 catalysts you can make it cheaper than Diesel bought at the fuel station. Look up "making Biodiesel" on the Internet.
scott carr - depends where you live. Diesel has risen to £1.24 a litre here in the UK. Veg oil is the equivalent of 75p litre at Costco. You can't get hold of used veg here anyway as companies are buying it wholesale from restaurants, takeaways. I know as I have enquired in the past. Used veg is a lot of hassle for the mileage I do. I've done 70k+ miles over the years on new veg and only ever had a couple of blocked filters. It's safe and clean and easy to just pour in. Going back to an old oil burner this spring as fuel prices are getting stupid.
Or you can just not be a team tight arse weirdo and use normal fuel
Kyle A if you live in the UK, 84p of every £1.24p you so happily pay for fuel goes to the government allegedly for, amongst other things, road maintenance. The roads I use are full of potholes. I'd rather be a weirdo than a sheep.
Paul Smith yes and what would you rather drive on? Desert? I'd rather pay upkeep of the roads thanks. They're bad enough as it is, without baffoons like you. Probably don't wear deodorant either.
Kyle A - You keep stumping up for all those new cyclepaths. Deoderant? it's only 3 aisles down from the cooking oil.
He looks like a disguised Peter Sellers
That is the best way to save money I’ve ever seen
In the U.S. they did this in the 1970's . A couple college kids drove across the country filling up for free at hamburger stands . As soon as they found out they could get money for it all the restaurants started selling their used oil to processors !
People gonna start doin this with the current gad prices
For Max power add some garlic and onions and a hint of tomatoes! 🍅 🍠
People be in the parking lot like "Yeah, yeah that's the guy I was telling you about"
Is diesel that expencive per liter that store bought cooking oil is more economical?
this is a new renewable energy source, in the future we will look up to this guy as our saviour
I own 2 Mercedes diesels and run straight cooking oil in them. They emit a slight blue smoke and the knocking that you normally hear from a diesel engine goes away completely. Runs as quiet as a finely tuned gas engine. I run the stuff just to make the engine quiet.
John Page try checking the piston cooking oil can cause carbon deposit
John Page how many liters of cooking oil does your car consume per 100 km or in miles per gallon?
nikolay petrov
I average 27 miles per gallon.
How a CRDI engine respond to it??
Cooking oil actually removes carbon deposits in combustion areas. It is actually a very clean fuel and far better than mineral oil based fuel. I know quite a few Mercedes diesel owners (190D w201 and e class w124) and have seen the inside of the cylinders of engines under test. It is interesting to note that cooking oil went up in price when the supermarkets found it was being used as fuel! However a preheater must be fitted prior to filtration as it does wax in cold weather. The mothercare baby food heater (12volt) fitted over the filter and was a normal conversion!
Back in the days we did run a 6.2l diesel Chevy Van on cooking oi and sunflower oil but with a mix of 50% diesel. The old 6.2 worked just fine, but the the fumes from the exhaust smelled a bit funky :D
In January 2017 this man was found dead of unknown circumstances
Its vegan lol
Me to
Do vegans drive cars?
Applicable Only On Diesel Engines.. .. ..
Do you think adding pepper to it is the same as adding nitrous
Vegetable oil can be used as diesel fuel just as it is, without being converted to biodiesel. The downside is that straight vegetable oil(SVO) is much more viscous (thicker) than conventional diesel fuel or biodiesel, and it doesn't burn the same in the engine -- many studies have found that it can damage engines
Better to use used oil and clean it
Radar yeah, filtered used cooking oil from restaurants
Try getting hold of it. There's now huge companies buying oil or renting their services to take the oil and then selling it on as "biofuel".
I used supermarket veg oil for years. The mileage I covered wasn't worth the ballache of having to hunt down used oil and then processing it. Haven't got the time or space either. Fuel prices are getting beyond a joke again, so we're looking out for an old smoker.
Used oils are good nor fresh oil which is gets speed , mileage
How fuel efficient is veg oil or bio diesel? I had a 05 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 diesel which would do 60mpg on regular diesel.
Why not just shuv eggs under your hood
I didn’t think life worked liked this
Is it better on used or new oil?
Clasic Nissan, rusted out rear arches. I had a nissan It was 4 years old and full of rust.
They call it fucking "chip fat oil"?
I know, but doesn't that seem pretty redundant? They could call it "chip fat" or "chip oil" but why "chip fat oil"? That's like saying "cooked baked potato"
PJ Scotland I was wondering why they called it that myself. Interesting!!
Same in canada its fish and chips but we call that Canola Oil or Vegetable Oil
RGDEI88 im sure this guys from the uk we dont call it chip fat oil we just call it vegetable oil idk why the title is that
casual axx I know he is from the U.K. i just didn't know why they called it chip fat oil over there. But I got the answer, someone said that they call fries "chips" over there. So that is why it's called chip fat oil in the U.K.. learn something new every day..
With these current gas prices I don't blame him lmao
What a genius old man. Not only does he get to pay more money per liter when buying vegetable oil instead of proper diesel on a petrol station, as a bonus his car will not last as long as it would if he used proper fuel. Give him an award.
so literally straight in the fuel tank from the shop nothing else?
No, he said in the video it's a mix. If you used pure veggie oil, it could get too cold and congeal into white fat.
William Rutherford - sorry, but no it doesn't. I've ran several cars on 100% veg oil. If the outside temp drops below 4 or 5c, then 25% diesel + 75% veg. Anything below 4c and veg oil thickens up slightly ( doesn't solidify ) and morning starts get difficult. My next project will involve 100% veg all year, with heated fuel lines for next winter. Heated elements from motorbike grips work a treat.
Paul Smith Why not just use petrol like everyone else ya fucking nut? Why does everyone have to be different nowadays? Whatever happened to just being normal?
Stephen Murray because it’s cheaper
@@stephenmurray2851 because it's 2 fucking euros per litre in some places right now fuckhead. These older diesel cars chug veggie oil easily, and the creator of the diesel engine himself Rudolph diesel envisioned his engines using vegetable oil.
You can get the shit for free from restaurants you just need to filter it.
How is this economical ? Bio diesel is cheap because it is used old oil that has been filtered. But buying straight from the shelves ? Here cooking oil is more expensive than petrol .
peter neagle depends on how much diesel is. Some governments tax the crap out of it, so it would be more practical to get vegetable oil
That depends. FIrst of all i was just looking at the milage rates for diesel and for vegetable oil. And vegetable oil is 7.14 % less mileage than diesel. And also if you consider most cars have between a 45 and 60 litre tank, do you find it more convenient to go to the petrol station or going to the market and buying 30 x 2 litre bottles of home brand oil, and then putting them into your can and then disposing of the plastic bottles after ?
And checking against my local diesel price versus home brand vegetable oil . $1.39 a litre for diesel and the cheapest homebrand oil is $4.40 for a 2 litre bottle or $2.20 a litre.
So my guess is diesel is a more convenient option and cheaper , especially when you take in the 7.14 % difference in mileage in diesels favor.
I read before about using cleaned up cooking oil from restaurants, but if I remember, there were coking problems, like burnt oil in places in the engine that you wouldn't want there.
I️ think this is my favorite video in the entire world, especially when he says “it goes like a rocket infant” hahahahhahahah
Ran my discovery on oil for 4 years, diesel is oil, diesel engines will run on any oil.
RustySkull Productions diesel isnt oil, its the bi-product of gasoline, which is basicallt the left over junk, its cheaper to make but it is still expensive. The reason a diesel will run on cooking oil is because diesels are such a low rpm and high compression combustion engine.
Diesel is more of an oil than Petrol.
+Ross Thumman, it's still an Oil ,it's alot harder to set on fire compared to petrol.
relentless5321 Is 2 stroke fuel considered diesel?
Diesel and gasoline are both products of refining crude oil. A 42 gallon barrel of crude will net you roughly 20 gallons of gas and 11 gallons of diesel with the left over being part jet fuel and all the petroleum products we manufacture (plastics for example).
Well we found our cheap renewable fuel source for the future
MattehWizard nope.
The technology is already here, oil tycoons are preventing it from happening.
does that mean the engine will always be well lubricated?
I knew someone who did this with their Ute. Driving behind him was like smelling a fish and chip shop, it was great.
Now put some fries on it
Foto Foti kakakaka
😂
Lol 😂😂😂😂
Chip fat oil?? That don't sound right lol
kxng kulu You "doesn't" sound right either 😂
im inclined to think it means "cheap", other wise it makes 0 sense.
Vegeta swt that's your opinion
kxng kulu the original deisel engine was designed to run on peanut oil.
It's British for fries. Like french fry. But Brits say chips instead. If that's what you meant.. Ignore my comment if not
I am here only because i thought the title was" Prisoner who runs his car on chip fat oil"
Depending on where the olives come from, if you run it on olive oil the car radio starts playing in a foreign language.
But i dont get it... Gasoline is cheaper
"Goes like a rocket" i'm disappointed after seeing how it actually pull off
Is it legal? In Sweden we can't use any other then, the regular gas pumps gas/disel.
How far does that get you on a full tank of that
It's a Nissan, no wonder it still works..
Umm there is this guy the passes by my enighboor hpod his van always leaves a smell of French fries makes me wonder if he is doing the same but with used oil
nightmare in action if it smells of chip shop it still needs processing to get rid of the cellular molecular structure out of the oil then it won't smell mine certainly doesn't smell doesn't even smell of diesel as running on commercially produced bio-diesel £0.90 per litre😀🚗
I've ran several cars on supermarket veg oil. Car does smell like a deep fat fryer. People comment on the 'chip shop' smell. But it's a cleaner smell than that. The low emissions test on the MoT always gets some attention on a 20 year old car.
In my neighbourhood works a teacher from grammar u should visit her.
KeKs - you missed the word 'school', and whilst you're pointing out the need for extra tuition, surely 'you' is more appropriate than 'u'😁
KeKs The subject today was about vegetable oil NOT about English grammar sorry you failed the subject. Please note after a sentence use a full stop...
After flying his home with balloons now introducing car on fat oil...This old man never gives up does he..
would this work on toyota diesel engines D-4D ENGINES ? fuel is so costly here in India :(
Here in Utah, gas is half the price for twice the amount than that bottle of oil
about £1.20 per liter here in U.K or $6.28 per U.S gallon, for petrol (gas)
mrLoftladder here it can be as low as about $1.79
But on the flip side, you have to live in Utah.
DivideBYZero69 what do you mean, no I don’t, I can live anywhere
He said he is sick of petrol prices but she is a diesel
nicky boy "Petrol" is generally used for "fuel" by the older generation. I've stopped correcting my mother...
Katsumoto0456 i have moved from petrol to diesesl find it away better for power
When you've spotted a diesel nissan sunny from the thumbnail, you know you need to get out more!
What kind of engine is in your car?
i don't worry about this ...i ride my horse Insha allah
Ibdrive my golf 1
40% diesel 60% oil from restaurant(i clear it) Update in comment
jackie yeah, its got to be a diesel.some say they can run on kerosene and stuff
PJ Scotland Just hope they won't mandate charging electric cars from marked-up sockets with extra road tax added to the electricity price. That, or companies charging gullible EV owners extra for "premium electricity".
NetRolller3D bruh
NetRolller3D in Connecticut they have already thought about that. Since it isn't that controllable because right now you can charge anywhere they are considering implementing a mileage tax because they are loosing money on gasoline taxes!! This state is ridiculous
John S they run perfectly on kerosine
Do that in Germany, you get put in jail for 10 000 Years.
How is the fuel pump not working?!
Wonder how much is fuel comsumption.
I think the energy density of cooking oil is lower than gasoline, did he factor that in his calculation?

Make sure fuel filter is changed every 2 months .also add a fuel injection cleaner in car every full tank
