  • "Best of My Love" is a popular song by the American R&B group, The Emotions. It was released in 1977 as a single from their album "Rejoice." The song became a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and holding that position for five consecutive weeks. It also topped the Billboard R&B and disco charts.
"Best of My Love" is known for its upbeat and infectious disco sound. It features soulful vocals, catchy melodies, and a groovy rhythm section. The song's lyrics convey a message of love and devotion, with the singer expressing their commitment to giving their partner the best love they can offer.
The Emotions, consisting of sisters Wanda, Sheila, and Jeanette Hutchinson, gained prominence in the 1970s and were signed to the legendary record label, Stax Records. "Best of My Love" remains one of their signature songs and a timeless classic in the disco and R&B genres.

The great old days when black singers had great backing bands and sang beautiful harmonies! What happened? You just can't touch this stuff! You guys hit a homerun with this. Brings me back to the old days when rock, soul, funk, disco, etc ruled the airwaves. You can't beat 60s and 70s music,it's the best 2 decades ever, nothing in the past 40 years can touch this! So much quality musically, lyrically, vocally . This music touched your soul brothers and there was no turning back! This stuff just hit hard and made you feel so good!

If you liked The Emotions, you may well enjoy songs from late 70s & early 80s by Sister Sledge including "He's the Greatest Dancer" and "We are Family" or by The Pointer sisters including: "Fire" (written by Bruce Springstein) or He's so Shy....

My "FIRST CRUSH"! REALLY! I have 7 sisters and 9 siblings. I was the youngest boy! I was 12 years old when I first saw them perform this song on Soul Train. Inner city GROOVIN WAS NOTHING NEW WHERE I GREW UP AT! SINGERS, DANCERS, STEPPERS, RAPPING, POETRY WAS UNDERWAY SO......my MUSICAL TABLE WAS BEING SET BECAUSE MY UNDERSTANDING "OF MUSIC" WAS REALLY EXPANDING. HECK! YOU MEET A NEW PERSON AND YOU COULD COME IN CONTACT WITH NOT JUST NEW SONGS....BUT ARTISTS, GENRES, REMAKES AND EXPRESSIONS OF MUSIC THAT YOU MAY HAVE "NEVER" HEARD BEFORE. BLACK BEAUTY IN THE 70's FOR ME WAS MOSTLY NEIGHBORS, FAMILY, CLASSMATES, TEACHERS AND SISTERS OF FRIENDS OF MY SIBLINGS AND MYSELF. I WAS REALLY INTO SCI FI MOVIES, LOONEY TOONS, EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION...MAINLY LITERATURE AND WILDLIFE. American Bandstand and Soul Train OPENED UP THE DESIRE TO "SEEK OUT" ADDITIONAL MUSIC starting with some of the names on the album covers. I looked those names up in the library ONLY TO FIND OUT "WHO THEY WERE INSPIRED BY, THEIR VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL ORIGINS, STYLES AND FREESTYLES BASED ON INSPIRATIONAL EXPERIENCES LIKE OPEN AIR SERVICES, JOOT JOINTS, FESTIVALS, MASHED REHEARSALS WITH ALOT OF FREESTYLING....NOT JUST MUSICAL STYLES BUT LYRICAL STYLES IN AND OF DIFFERENT INTERPRETATIONS AS WELL. IT WAS A GREAT TIME IN MY LIFE TO FIND OUT THAT MUSIC WAS LIKE MY "COMFORT FOOD" TO STRENGTHEN AND EDIFY THINGS THAT I CONFIRMED IN AND FROM MY DAY TO DAY EXPERIENCES. MUSICAL INTERLUDES ARE A BIG, PEACEFUL PART OF ALOT OF MY "INTRESPECTIVE" TIMES ALONE. AS A RESULTS. I AM "LITERALLY CODED" NOT JUST WITH WORDS BUT GESTURES, SMELLS, BODILY FUNCTIONS, OCTAVES, SIZES, SHADES, MODES OF SILENCE AND LEVELS OF MICRO FREQUENCIES THAT ARE SIMPLE VIBRATIONS IN YOUR MUSTACHE HAIRS OR EYELASHES. WHO AND WHAT MOVES IN IT OR NOT...AND WHY!!! SEE! I HEAR A SONG FROM A TIME IN MY LIFE AND IT OPENS UP "ALL OF THIS......RAMBLING THROUGH MENTAL PICTURES, PROMPTING AND SONIC, VISUAL, MENTAL AND HYPERSENSITIVE SENSATIONS!🤪🤯🤔😳 Whatever son.
