- "Square Biz" is a song by American singer Teena Marie, also known as Lady T aka The Ivory Queen of Soul. It was released as a single in 1981 from her album "It Must Be Magic." The song is a blend of funk, soul, and R&B influences and features Teena Marie's distinctive vocals and energetic performance.
"Square Biz" became one of Teena Marie's most popular and recognizable songs. The title of the song is a play on words, combining "square" (a term used to describe someone who is conventional or old-fashioned) and "biz" (short for "business"). The song's lyrics are about asserting one's individuality and not conforming to societal norms. It's a celebration of being true to oneself and embracing one's unique qualities. - Zábava

FIRE AND DESIRE WITH RICK JAMES….
I love Teena and Rick singing “Happy” I love both of them. May they both rest in peace!❤️
Born and raised in Queens, NY. I grew up on all types of music. R&B, PoP & early Rap was my growing up and early adult music. Not just mine, but all of my friends as well. I'm not sure where you all grew up but in NYC, everyone whether you were white, black or brown listened. Music wasn't about color for us. I do miss those days.
Bronx and Brooklyn, here! Yes, we all listened to WBLS, WKTU, Kiss FM; best times of my life ❤
@@jacqueline4514 Ah yes! Those radio stations really brought back a rush of memories. We had it really good. Such great times!

Teena GOT DOWN for HERS!!! She was a TREASURE. This song used to MOVE THE CROWD!😁 The party, barbeque, cook out.. to the club would be JUMPING to TEENA! Not to mention all her other jams. Watching this video brings back good memories .

Back in the day Square Biz meant truth, real
If I was a deejay, I’d follow this treasure up with Golden by Jill Scott. 😊
The Ivory Queen of Soul
Lady T’s “Behind The Groove” next! ❤🔥That’s what early 80’s R&B was; quality music and fun; impossible to NOT be happy! I have a suggestion: “Watching You” by Slave; my God I am so glad I grew up where I did (Bronx then Brooklyn) when I did; it was a great time ❤ Musically, we were definitely one America then; we all listened across the genres. But this is my music.
Are we square now?

I heard the song a million times but this is the first time I've seen the video! I brought this song up about a month ago when you guys reviewed Rapture by Blondie and asked about any other white females who rapped. This was the only one I could come up with. Great song and great review as always.

Dude with the gray in his beard…never heard square biz???
The tempo is slightly fast for my taste. Her flow is very 1981, almost Sugar Hill. She was right in the thick of it. There are and were multiple Americas. East coast, West coast, South coast... 🤔
Bro trippin.... how he figure nas and em aint get busy on the firm
