"Best of My Love" is a song by American band The Emotions from their fourth studio album Rejoice (1977). It was composed by Maurice White and Al McKay of Earth, Wind & Fire, and produced by White and Clarence McDonald.
Released as the album's lead single on June 9, 1977, the song topped both the US Billboard Hot 100 and US Billboard R&B charts. It also reached the Top 5 in the UK and Canada, the Top 10 in New Zealand, and the Top 20 in Australia.

The Emotions are for real! They're from Chicago and grew up at the same time as Chaka Khan and Minnie Riperton. Can you imagine trying to win a talent contest when those three are entered at the same time!?! My favorite song from The Emotions is "Blessed". But really, anything from the Rejoice album.
And Jody Watley, Miki Howard and others. The Emotions sang together since young Gospel group, hard to beat harmonies of siblings. The Hutchinson sisters had so many hits
@@mic1240, that's right. "Flowers" is the first Emotions song I remember hearing on the radio. Although, Unsung has an episode on The Emotions that reference their earlier recordings. They didn't get national recognition until they started collaborating with Earth Wind & Fire.

It was composed and produced by Maurice White and Al McKay of Earth, Wind & Fire, which accounts for the funky bass and killer horn lines. I was ten and just beginning to discover music beyond the music of my parents when this song was all over the radio. Its sound reminds me of The Pointer Sisters. The Eagles also dropped a number one hit in the US titled "Best of My Love" but that song is a ballad and that year was 1975.
The dance floor was filled during this song and we wanted it to go on and on!

These are my girls!! I remember seeing this very show and them sanging this song on Soul Train as a teen they are simply amazing!!! I had this album, and ran it in a hole on my record player. I hope you a chance to hear their song Flowers, Don't ask my neighbors, I don't want lose your love just to name a few. I loved seing your expressions on your face it's exactly how we all felt back in the day.

Fun fact they are real life sisters but the oldest sister was in and out of the group which is understandable because she had kids at that time in 1977 so she had a friend took her spot to sing with her younger sisters.

I have this CD ..... truly one the greatest tracks of all time......it is actually 4 sisters the oldest sister was pregnant with 'Phillip Bailey" love child,so the youngest sister had to fill in she is on the other side of the lead singer.

Mariah Carey's huge hit Emotion owes a HUGE debt to this song. The bass line, so damn unavoidable.
Well she did get into legal trouble. Songwriter Maurice White sued Mariah Carey and C+C Music Factory for plagiarizing this song for Mariah's 1991 #1 hit "Emotions" (C+C produced the song for Mariah). Said White, "Sampling is one thing, but she took the whole song." The lawsuit was settled out of court. She’s settled a few law suits for plagiarism and copyright infringement. Now she’s being sued for All I Want For Christmas…
No. Mariah's vocals made that song. Music or no music. No one else could've sung that song the way she did. Her voice just made the music even better.
@@jobuck879 And those were C+C Music Factory productions but ultimately the responsibility comes down to the singer to make sure everything is cleared through. The All I Want For Christmas claim is bogus. The song was released over 25 years ago and all of a sudden she's being sued over it because the title of the song is the exact same as the guy that's suing? That's absolutely ludicrous. How many songs have the same title? That case will be thrown out of court.
@@ChrisC709 She did use the WHOLE song in Emotions hence the settlement. There’s other songs she settles too it’s not just one or two. She’s a fraud. The woman didn’t even write her own songs by herself, like she claims. She was sued for that too and had to settle because she _knew_ she had help. And no she’s not the only person who could have sung that song there’s other artist that could have did the song and did it justice easily. And now there’s artist that covered it and sang it well even with/without the whistle register.

A huge hit from 1980 and one of my all-time favorite songs. I don’t know how anyone can listen to that song and not instantly be in a good mood. Two other songs that have the same affect on me with instant good mood are “right back to where we started from” by Maxine Nightingale In Dionne Warwick’s duet with The Spinners called “Then Came You”
