You're Right I spelled wrong 👍
All you have to do is put your foot down, then the AWD and computer assists take over in a boring fashion. Is that as rewarding as proper track set up, and rowing through the gears by hand...? The golden days are behind us for sure.
@@WineHouse33 Just like every new Corvette, Hellcat, Mustang, Demon, etc. How many of those have manual transmissions? 🤣🤣🤣
This video really is a commercial for the reliability of electric and the traction of all wheel drive!
Good to see Greg out there with you again. Good guy, loves the sport and really dedicated to getting that COPO dialed in. Hope you had a good time on vac.
More to come! Greg is a competitor and we will certainly meet him on the dragstrip again soon 👍
Dude, You have by far the best CZcams "job" in the world.
1. Plug it in to charge overnight.
2. Quietly smack down seriously fast street cars while chatting about what makes it so cool.
3. Plug it back in.
4. Repeat weekly.
👍 Can’t argue with any of that! 😃
@6:30 its always ice cars blowing something....tesla reliability has to be appreciated
Props to the mafia guy for running it back to back to back lol
Mafia guy 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah that's why PLAID is the best any time all the time because no factors / no glitches at all, pure joy !!
The best? Against cars that run low 9’s yes….thats the fastest the Tesla will ever run. There are many thousands of race cars, and street cars that will make the Plaid look like it’s standing still. It’s great for what it is, but please don’t say it’s the best 😁
Boring car.....zero interest.
Oh my God I’ve been watching Greig’s channel forever. Now I find out he’s a Motörhead racing a Copo Camaro. Greig why didn’t you tell us this now I really love your channel more than ever!!!!
Even Santa loves drag racing!!!
Great video Andrew.
Merry Christmas!!
The variability of the complex gas powered drag cars really makes for frustrating tuning. Congrats on hundreds of FAST CONSISTENT all electric runs!
A friend of mine just bought a plaid so my claim of fastest street car with my 900hp ZL1 just went up in smoke. I told him we can no longer be friends😂
Greg will get it dialed in. This is why they have test and tune nights. Hopefully he can connect with the Blue COPO Camaro owner and get some prep tips. You were consistent considering the conditions. And it is always fun to see these races. Happy Holidays!
just letting you know Brian "My Tesla Weekend" mentioned the "Tesla Plaid Channel" on his
"Everything You Need To Know About Driving a Tesla" video
Greg got his car running last week. Now for chassis tuning. His car is pulling in now! But, he needs to slow down on the chassis and run better throughout the 8th mile an quarter mile. That car is leaving so valiant now that he has the misfire fixed!!!!!!
Plaid is so hard to beat, even with cars that are faster on paper
I agree this the channel that motivated me to buy one !! Best thing I’ve done in awhile !!
It’s like having your own roller coaster
@@jogriffin9347 A dream car for some
@@lemongavine
Not for long they are getting cheaper and with high interest rates and car repos look for these to be at 58 range by the summer !!
They don’t hold value just Hope the wrong people don’t buy this car cause it gets to 100 in under 4 sec there will be fatalities a lot with wrong person behind this one !!
I’m early! *Great runs* one of the most amazing things to me is the consistency of a Tesla. Obviously not something you see all the time with these track built gas cars. All in all looks like a great night!
We know the COPO can run faster, but after lining up five times, it’s been the same result. Here’s to Consistency.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel yes and anytime I see cars with parachutes I know it’s faster haha but in this case could have been an exciting race but so many failed launches kinda takes the thrill out of owning a gas car even more, unreliable.
Thank you
Wow, that COPO looks and sounds so sweet. Old petrol head and now a big Tesla fan but still love the sound of a performance Chevy SB at redline. Some great racing action Andrew. I'd guess that the 427 BB version will give the Plaid more than it can handle.
👍 Far more than we could handle actually, even from that Blue COPO that we raced earlier this year (tuned supercharged 350ci): czcams.com/video/koqEVezOV_s/video.html
Good run and awesome video thanks. Some ideas for Greg although he’s probably already got that figured out thanks to your footage. Looks like Greg needed more travel or to stiffen the springs. Makes sense more pressure was suggested it raises the back a bit and provides a bit more stiffness in the hit especially with glue because the wheelie bars got more travel this also helps with the big end mph. Would suggest stiffening up the suspension in the rear or raising the wheelie bars or a combo of all 3 based on the environment. Or you can tune it but really it makes more sense to use the power you got and transfer it correctly based on the surface than to tune power out for a slower pass plus if your not doing it yourself it may cost but most of these dudes are rich and have teams with a dedicated tuner so I guess there is that.
👍Yep, he had to adjust both the shocks and the wheelie bars. Also the plugs and plug wires for that misfire. Now it is launching hard and carrying the front tires like it should. See new video just posted a few minutes ago for Greg’s best run ever! 😃
Greg never had you...he never had his car😂
As an old S/G racer. 1.378 is NOT a great 60' time when he said his car "would leavs so freaking hard".. My car back in the 80's would do 1.24 on a good leave. Greg does not know what he is doing and needs a tuner in his camp.
Brian of "My Tesla Weekend" mentioned your channel in his latest vid titled "Everything You Need to Know About Driving a Tesla". 11:50 mark
👍 Thanks for the tip! 😃
You should buy the lucid sapphire. They're faster than the plaid (you could run them in the 8.9's on unprepped!!), and still pretty obscure so people would have that shock factor. Also, they're beautiful cars. I love the Teslas, but I haven't heard of them doing anything to make the plaids quicker, or even a model (I've given up on the Roadster).
Yep, that roadster seems to be Vapor. Fastest two Plaids we’ve seen run 8.70s at the dragstrip (prep required). Both lost a lot of weight. One still looks like a Model S. The other one (we raced it 5 times), not so much: czcams.com/video/q010lyj-yko/video.html
“I was only going 140”
It’s like horsepower inflation! 😳
That's Greg mallarino he has a CZcams finance channel with Gerald celente 👍🚩
Greg Mannarino actually 👍
His channel is... www.youtube.com/@GregoryMannarino MANNARINO
Yep, we include a link to his Channel in the Description of all our recent videos 👍
first run was great. Too bad the Camaro didn't hook up on the other passes.
There's a Bjørn Nyland video titled "Tesla Model S Plaid with lots of issues". Are you having these kinds of troubles with your Plaid? I don't see anything like that with my MSP.
We’ve made over 800 dragstrip passes in this Plaid without any problems. And including our 2019 Tesla that runs mid-10s, we’ve got over 1850 dragstrip runs without any maintenance costs other than one set of brake pads. (We are still running the original set of Pirelli tires on the Plaid.)
And as shown in our mid-2021 video, our 1000th pass in the 2019 Model S was FASTER than all previous 999 runs. It didn’t slow down, it got faster! 👍
I think Greg has just (understandably) gotten too frustrated with his tune. Hopefully he'll make some strides in coming weeks
Spect Greg's not used to overpowered 2wd yet but he'll gitter figured out
Yep, just a matter of time 👍
He deep staged you on purpose lol
Still took an L 😂
#RIPGAS
so does your tesla have the capability to run 8.50 or 8 flat and is it 4 wheel drive?
All wheel drive yes. Best Plaid time I’ve seen is 8.71 with weight reduction (no tuning)
But that 8 flat COPO has major hardware changes. And as all drag racer know: Once modified, there’s always someone faster. (Big Daddy Don Garlits has run MUCH MUCH FASTER in his EV dragsters)
Can you just keep the plaid in launch mode all the time,
Nope. It “times out” after about a dozen seconds.
Andrew, gregs ran decent. But, you could hear his misfire. So, its elctectral issues! Bad plugs, coil, or spark plug wires!!!!!
We've got a few theories, hope to see you at the dragstrip next week 👍
Asa general rule remember this and you should be fine with your EV. And that is. Charge an hour to drive an hour.
FALSE. We drove one of our Teslas across this whole country and the charging was never an inconvenience once. Woke up with a full charge from every hotel. (Won’t work for you since you stay at Motel6.) Charged at lunch and dinner. 396 miles per charge in THIS PLAID that runs 9.1-9.2 in the quarter mile. Your FUD is so easy to disprove, that the only thing it proves is that all negativity towards EVs is unfounded. You most certainly work for the UAW. Now go away since you add no value to the conversation 🤣
EVs are clearly not for you, since you are already late for work most mornings while you wait for your cell phone to charge 🤣🤣🤣
@@TeslaPlaidChannel rich mans toy.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I loved my model Y when it was fully charged.
@@grabir01 The COPO is a rich man’s toy? Sure is. That much money for a track car that can’t even be driven on the street. It’s illegal in all 50 states, and can’t even be registered (no VIN!). It’s exactly what you said: a toy. Not a practical car like the Plaid which we take all over the state and to Costco 👍
Why not run a top fuel dragster.
Because the track would never allow it. Top fuel dragsters are not permitted to run next to street cars. And how many Top Fuel dragsters do you think run on “test and tune” nights? Zero.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Because if they did allow it, you would loose. This EV vs ICE thing is pointless on drag strips because we all know who will win. Why not enter an EV in a 24 hour race?
@@achristian7015 Huh? We already have lost to other dragsters. Where have you been? We have a whole playlist full of Plaid vs Dragsters, with one win and the rest losses. Your Comment sounds very ignorant. Dragstrips don’t allow street cars and Top Fuel to line up. “Because we will loose” ??? The word is spelled “lose”. And again, we’ve lost to several other dragsters (not top fuel) already. Get a clue.
@@achristian7015 Plaid vs Dragsters PLAYLIST: czcams.com/play/PLhSrlyVZnBMo4eaWBVHOWvajcLSVcTjjT.html
@@achristian7015 Why now a “24 hour race”? Aren’t you first supposed to say “a track with corners”? That’s when we share this link of the Plaid passing the mighty Porsche GT3 RS at over 170MPH: czcams.com/video/zU0svANnC4g/video.html
Rimac is #1 only EV car that beat the Tesla plaid.
The car from Nervera-Nevera land! With only 50 sold in the US, we will never(a) see one at a dragstrip. After paying multiple millions, their owners just lock them away somewhere.
Real car vs toy car. Why bother.....
Indeed, the fact that one doesn’t have a VIN and can’t be legally driven on the street is very telling. Even if legal, it overheats quickly, and can’t even be left idling in the staging lanes.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Not what I meant.
@@modernmusclecar1904 Well, if a “real car” is a conveyance that can be used for any reasonable purposes (travel, a pleasure drive along the coast, commuting, Costco, etc), then indeed only one of these is a real car
A “toy” is something just to play with. Like at a track. Dragstrip even.
So clearly, one is a real car and one is a toy car. That much is very true 👍
F EVS
Don’t you mean “W”?
For the WIN!🏆
Not to mention it will beat a Demon 170 all day long 😂😂
👍Sure will, on any street any day! As well as at the dragstrip, especially with a similar number of seats. Funny how Dodge guys will claim “8.90s with weight reduction and no tune” while ignoring TWO Plaids which consistently run 8.70s with only weight reduction. And Plaids don’t require special fuel to do it. Standard 110V electricity works!
@@TeslaPlaidChannelI’m not a “Dodge guy”, but from what I have seen, the weight reduction on those Demons you are talking about is minimal ( ie seat removal +/- 100 pounds) and not the 300-400 pounds of weight reduction the Plaid would need to run 8.7. I could be wrong though. Also, the Demon could make a couple minor changes (I.e. tune, pully etc) and be faster than 8.7.
I’m not hating on the Plaid, because it’s great for what is is, but let’s try to stay in our lanes 😁
