Wow is that Audi fast. Rare to see a Plaid gapped even with a slower mid 9 second run.
Thanks for posting.
oh my god, that R8 is INSANE 😭😭😭
Holy sh😮😮 that Audi is insane.
Last time I moved that fast was when I had the shits in Walmart . . .
Those Twin Turbo R8’s and Huracans never fail to absolutely blow my mind. I’d pay money to see them race the Rimac Nevera. If they beat the Plaid that badly, I’m sure they will beat the Rimac too which I’ve yet to see any car beat the Rimac yet in a drag race.
They WILL NOT 😵💫 czcams.com/video/riMGY4Wn38s/video.htmlsi=FkFZaH96Q_RTbbyh
You need 2200 hp and more to beat the rimac which plenty of TT lambos and audis have that poWer .
@@ashegheaty not plenty but I get the point maybe a few
@@ashegheaty The r8 did a faster time than the nevera did
@@Emanzenamannever a see one on the street that’s for sure
That TT R8 is unreal. Wow.
that audi is something special
that is nuts the R8!!! can't wait for the roadster haha, and you slipped so much running 9.6 haha
That might have been our slowest "flat out" pass in the Plaid, and ironic that it was next to the fastest street car we have raced. (We've raced faster dragsters and such, but nothing so fast and street legal)
Great cliffhanger you generated from the previous upload!
👍 We started editing it as one single video for that whole day+night of racing, both the roll racing and drag racing. But as it was nearing 28 minutes, it was getting a bit unwieldy, and we made the tough choice to split it into two parts.
Hope you enjoyed it nonetheless 😃
Exciting runs. Looking back, the Raven Model S was usually faster than most common drag strip rivals, but you could see a peek at the next tier of faster racers from time to time. The Plaid was easily quicker and faster than most of those previous racers, but you can now see the next tier of $$, 8 second, twin turbo, tuner supercars. It is unfortunate that the 280Z broke a half shaft, but from my racing I had seen commonly that once you combine racing tires with 600HP++, parts often break. Usually I had seen the failure points being the clutch or u-joints, but both of those were far cheaper than the dreaded motor or transmission failure. It was interesting seeing the Audi all over the lane with the degraded track prep, whereas the Tesla spins it's tires, but stays stable, and just loses 4 tenths on the run.
👍Yep! Every “level up” brings an entirely new set of more exclusive competitors 😃
All those twin turbos are tantalizingly close to breaking into the 7s!
The Lambo driver (Loring) described one with identical hardware (same Tuner) that was running 7.50s at over 200MPH with a different tune and better prep at FL2K (at this same track a month ago, but with lots of glue)
Midnight Performance has gone 7.90s factory sealed coyotes and A10 transmission. In prepped form, the Coyote is the current king of street legal cars running 6.33 with oe cast block, heads, and crank. FoMoCo > any import
Awesome runs! Did they say how much power the audi had? to trap 180+ i would think at least 1600 whp or so! @tesla
Looking at the webpage of the R8's tuner (Cicio) they have setups that go to 1800HP. And Hefner (the Lambo) has setups over 2000HP.
Buena nota.. esos de 8 s son unos monstruos
Time to get the Plaid tuned and a turbo?
👍🤣👍
What did the '97' chalked onto the Audi window mean?
Every car must have a number to match the driver’s wristband. (It must have been his first drag run of the night)
How the heck is that Audi getting away with running there without a chute?
Good stuff as usual here. I WOULD love to know how much is sunk into that r8? My guess is 300-350k or more.
Check out at the webpages of the R8's tuner (Cicio Performance), with setups that go to 1800HP. And Hefner Performance (the Lambo) has setups over 2000HP.
Carbon ceramic brakes! We're probably on the edge of needing a chute, but there's still a good bit of room at the top, but we definitely have to take the last turn off. As far as the builds go, 3:16 speed (my builder in the Lambo) will do an 1800hp package for just over $100k
R8 cut a sick light, .004!
👍 Tony knows what he’s doing! 🚦
Hi ,profesor!!
3:12 - So trapping 180+ MPH, that is no stock R8, how does he get away with no chute (or roll cage?)?
Very reasonable question 😃
It's up to the track owner, as it's not an NHRA sanctioned event. With carbon ceramic brakes, we have room to stop, but we're definitely taking the last turn off. As far as a cage goes, the cars are pretty safe, and we have full interiors with functional airbags.
@@BewstAdd1ct Thanks for checking in Loring! And thanks again for the run!
How come the twin turbo lambo couldn’t compete but the r8 could and they have the exact same engine is it modified more or is the r8 faster than the huracan🤔
They are comparable in power, running side-by-side at 187MPH (R8) and 189 (Lambo) when traction was less of an issue (roll racing). See Part ONE of this video: czcams.com/video/hSzrujAjRGM/video.html
Comparable power. Both with an advanced traction control. The Plaid almost twice the weight.
Can't wait for battery chemistry technology to level the playing field.
Almost twice the weight???
Rimac Neverra would compete with the Audi
We believe that this Cicio R8 may have their top tune (1800HP) cicioperformance.com/packages/huracan-r8/
Just ran an twin turbo R8 similar on my bike hahaha mmmmm
No way! 1800HP like this Cicio Performance tune?
@@TeslaPlaidChannel he was like 1650whp 3:16 speed is who built his
Notice the ripped guy with the R8 isn't eating crappy 'track food' but brought his own nutritious food to eat.
👍Proper nutrition is like proper fuel 😃 (That’s Loring, and he actually drives the Lambo Huracan)
Gotta feed the machine!
Need aftermarket batteries and motors for evs
Absolutely 100% agree that Aftermarket companies need to get some EV products going 👍
That Audi makes the Tesla look underwhelming
1800HP has a way of doing that! cicioperformance.com/packages/huracan-r8/
😢 yeah Its sad
For that kinda money it better.
The Audi should have been faster than it was....imagine the dollar per mph ratio....just to outrun a stock tesla
@@TeslaPlaidChannelI was wondering how much power the Audi and Lambo have. I knew it had to be over 1500 hp to be that fast. Must be nice to have that much money...
You know what the Plaid still better every day car, affordable super practical service and maintenance free etc.. You don't see these cars Audi and lambo on the street's at all 0 !! So we can easily pretend they are not exist at all !! ( with tuning and all parts they are around $ 450K way too much )
We’ve seen those maintenance issues! Parts break often at those levels of power, like Tony’s GT-R (shown at 0:58) and Bruce’s 280Z (4:36) 🔧🧰🔩⚙️🔧
There are plenty of cars in the city i live in that are driven on the street. And are running low 9s and high 8sec 1/4s. You have to remember its easier to make a fast combustion power car because it has alot less weight to move. Engine tech with twin turbos and superchargers have come along way. And tuning those setups are easily done by laptop. Chassis tuning is also greatly important. Evs are a long ways from competing with the top dogs at the track. The great part is building your car. And then reap the benefits of your build. Thats what seperates the factory from the real fast cars.
@@TeslaPlaidChannel , if you were producing the power they are. Your Tesla would be breaking parts too. You do see more foreign cars breaking axles due to their design. Unlike the beefier drivetrains of American rear wheel drive designs.
Both Tony and I drove our cars to and from the track, and drive them around on the street. You're off on your estimate by about 33%, and some people would say that $89k is too much. To each his own, I suppose.
@@billhoman694 nah not really, because you have to spend too much money $$ for 'll these mods, then it will defenatly starts breaking everything a part it means you must spend lots of money again and again etc... Too much hassle with ice cars man constant spending:( The Plaid is the best and fast slick pure joy hassle free for many years to come that's the fact !!!:)
Audi didn't spin stop making excuses 😅
Fast cars. I hope the Tesla has enough charge to make it home. Hopefully he lives less than 90 miles from the track.
Haha. We are 90 miles from the track and always get home with over 50% charge. We’ve never ever stopped to charge on the way home. Not once. Yet we pass the gas guys at the stations by the strip and we hope they don’t get jacked since it’s often 11pm to midnight 🔫
This car is rated at 396 miles, and only uses 3% per run.
The battery could be HALF the size and we’d still be just fine. We actually wish it was smaller, for less weight!
@@TeslaPlaidChannel This happened yesterday with a Tesla. Did you pass him on the way home? czcams.com/users/shortsKl4NoE_Dglc
I (the guy in the Lambo) had to stop for fuel both on the way to, and coming home from the track. Fwiw 💁♂️
LOL so owned by those two replies.
Until any ev runs quicker than Brett Lasalas king of 275 street car 6.33 @ 225mph, I.C.E. is still king.
#glorifiedgolfcart
With millions of gasoline powered golf carts in this world, including the ones the track uses to lay down glue, the “golf cart” comment just comes across as ignorant 🤔
race the track pack Plaid and see how that works
Plaids with the full Track Pack installed have only slowed down at the dragstrip from the increased weight and rolling resistance of the tires. Larger brakes don’t help either, and the stock ones have worked fine for us over 850+ runs.
But the Track Pack is great for road racing!
