- In this video, I show you how to Install a Harley Davidson Ventilator Extreme Breather on the 2023 Street Glide ST. The Harley Davidson heavy breather that is stock on the CVO and ST models just doesn't work well from a ride perspective. The Harley Davidson heavy breather has a snorkel that impedes getting your foot easily to the rear brake pedal on the Street Glide ST, Road Glide ST, up to 2022 Street Glide CVO and the up to 2022 Road Glide CVO.
Below are the Harley Davidson part numbers for all you will need to change out the heavy breather with the Harley Davidson Ventilator Extreme Breather.

S/S Tear drop air stinger with external breather kit on my ST , Looks , form , & function . Couldn't be happier.
Thanks Mike for watching and sharing your setup. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️
I couldn't agree more, Rick. That would be the first change I would make on my bike.
Thanks Eric for watching and commenting. It definitely is not a good set up from the factory. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍👊✌️
I need to make this change as well. Great job Rick.
Thanks Bob. It's a huge improvement. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👍👊
I’m riding a 23 Road Glide ST with the same heavy breather. First off - Great tutorial! I’m 6’ 1 and the snorkel is in the way, and not just a little bit. Glad to see that the new setup is working out. I’m going to do the same. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. The Ventilator Extreme is a much better option. No more shin banging. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊👍✌️
Totally Agree have this on my bike. Love it.
Thanks Chris for watching and commenting. I really like the Ventilator Extreme. If you are already a subscriber thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️
Looks like a change I’d make as well. Plus, I like the look. Good advice Rick!
Thanks RJ. 👊✌️👍
Like the new intro - good job! It is funny as we all do same upgrades no matter what new bike we get. I definitely do the same on my end. While I love the look of this OEM filter yes it is not the smartest design. New AC looks sharp.
Thanks Art. I appreciate your support. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍👊✌️
Great install rick👍👍
Thanks Darrell for watching and commenting. Much appreciated. Ride safe and enjoy. 👍✌️👊
Great video, brother, and nice boots too.
Thanks for watching brother. Good boots...I give them a workout. Ride safe and enjoy. 👊✌️👍
the Extreme Ventilator is a great looking intake! have one on my 23 RGS
Thanks Scott for watching and commenting. I like the look of the Ventilator Extreme as well...and much better for riding than the heavy breather. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
Had the heavy breather on my fatboy. Looks really cool, works well. Had the same shin problem, even being 6'2". Put the extreme ventilator on my new RG3.
Thanks for watching and commenting. The heavy breather just doesn't work for me either. The extreme ventilator is a big improvement. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I had the heavy breather on my 2009 1200XL and loved it. I was thinking of putting one on my 2011 FLTRUSE, but perhaps not now.
The heavy breather with mid controls is ok. With forward controls....it doesn't work...at least for me. I've ridden a low rider st with the heavy breather and its no problem. Thanks for watching and commenting. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
I have the same filter. It looks great and allow plenty of air to get to where it needs to be..
Thanks Mike for watching and commenting. I agree with your points and the most important point for me is that it makes the bike much more rideable...I'm not banging my shin on the snorkel any longer. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👊👍
I lucked out on my Low Rider ST. I had my dealer install a Vance and Hines Hi Output 2 into 1 in stainless immediately. Vance and Hines supplied a 5/8” thick, powder coated machined spacer for the right side rider peg. I added Joker Machine Long Serrated pegs which widens my stance more than enough to stay clear of the stock heavy breather.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Sounds like you have a great set up. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️
@@HDVIBE subscribed months ago, love the channel!
Thank you. 👍
Extend your floor boards out and get the bigger brake pedal. Enough said. I'm 5'7" with 30" inseam.

Any tuning done? I have a 5-inch TAB Performance slip on installed on my Road Glide ST. I just added the ventilator extreme breather based on your recommendation. Should I perform a tune? I never tuned this bike before - it's a 2023 Road Glide ST
Thanks for watching and commenting. No need to put a tune on it. However, when I put a Stage 1 tune on mine, throttle response is now much better. You can check out that video in the Street Glide ST playlist. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍✌️👊
Definitely better.
Thanks for watching and commenting brother. Ride safe and enjoy. ✌️👍👊
I did the same, Heavy Breather to Ventalator Extream. Now I have the back part of the VE in the top inside of my calf at all times and not comfortable. Thinking of going back to the HB as the only time my shin hits the elbow is when I hit the rear brake. Just my thought & opinion.
Thanks for watching and commenting with your experience. The Ventilator Extreme could definitely be up against your calf. I've put some miles on mine and so far I'm liking the Ventilator Extreme better than the Heavy Breather. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
Subscribed and enjoying your channel. Lots of good info, thank you.
Thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words and support. 👍
Just wondering if there are any tuning issues when changing from the heavy breather to the ventilator?
Thanks
Thanks Jeffery for watching and commenting. To answer your question there were no tuning issues after changing out the breather. The Extreme ventilator gets a bit more air into the bike but the ECM adjusts the mixture ratios enough to not cause any issues. I subsequently did do some smart tune sessions just to adjust the base map to my riding style, but, it really didn't seem to be necessary. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️
Would u have to re tune since u switched air breathers
Thanks Roger for watching and commenting. Since the original heavy breather was a high flow breather and the Ventilator Extreme is a high flow breather, no need to re-tune the bike. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. ✌️👍👊
What tool did you use to tighten the air cleaner?
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm assuming you are referring to the 4 bolts that hold the cover over the air filter. It is a 5/16 12 pt socket. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
It's great your not hitting your shin now, but your engine is still eating and drinking its own #1 and #2!.
Thanks for watching and commenting. That is true. A bypass would fix that. Maybe one day I'll take on that project. Thanks for your support and ride safe.✌️👊👍
@@HDVIBE I did my 114ci. At mile one!.
Yes sir. 👊
If any one ask me I always say the German phrase Goutentight if they want to know how tight to make it. Lol
Thanks Marvin for watching and commenting. I like your torque spec.... If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊👍✌️
I enjoy your channel and I'm glad you mentioned your hight and inseam because we are the same. The bike looks awesome. Keep up the good work.
@marvinr5054 Thank you Marvin. I appreciate the kind words and support. 👊
If I ditch the heavy breather on my ST for the low profile breather, do I need a tuner?
Thanks for watching and commenting. You don't need to tune the bike if you make that switch. There isn't that much difference in the air flow to necessitate doing a tune. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
@@HDVIBE thanks. Already subscribed and doing the Street Tuner for the future Stage 2. Went with the Extreme Wedge
@Elkslaya1 Thanks for being a subscriber. I just put the Extreme Wedge on my 2021 Road Glide Special. Looks awesome. Recently released a video on that one as well. Ride safe and enjoy. 👊✌️👍
@@HDVIBE I’ll check that out
@Elkslaya1 I also have videos on how to upload tunes from the Screamin Eagle Pro Street tuner and how to run smart tune sessions. 👍
I’m 5’9 and the heavy breather doesn’t get in my way. I have the same bike.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm 5'10"...maybe it's that 1 inch in height that makes the difference. It's a great bike...enjoy it. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👊✌️👍
