Why Long Distance Made our Relationship Better

- It's been 6 months since we officially put an end to our long distance relationship by finally moving to the same country and living together.
Still today we find that our 2 years of being long distance have shaped our relationship - and in a good way! Being in a long distance relationship has many benefits that can strengthen relationships long-term, so here we take some time to discuss them.
We find that the stigma around LDRs can be very discouraging, and can make people doubt if there is any hope, and we are here to tell you that that's not always true. It's not easy, but you can make it work and have a happy lasting long distance relationship, until you finally get to the end of the tunnel like we did.

Very true. We are one Brit and one German. We met as students and had to spend six years living in different countries before we could move together. We made it too and have now been together for 30 years as of this coming September.

If anything being in a long distance relationship shows how dedicated you are to making it work and how much you care. I think it's silly (and rude) that people would just say it's not real when there's so many emotions involve in an LDR.

My girlfriend lives in Australia, and I’m in the United States. We spent two weeks together, our first meeting, very recently and it was the most surreal and magical experience. We have such a strong and trusting relationship, I wouldn’t change anything

I’m in a long distance relationship, US > Australia. My partner and I have talked about how in some ways the distance can be good for sorting out any issues or disagreements because we don’t just have the physical aspect to fall back on, we actually have to talk out our problems. I’m sure you get this a lot, but your videos actually make me feel a bit better on sucky days away from my girlfriend since you’ve already beat the distance, so thank you for sharing your story.

I couldn't agree more on all what you said! :) I was in a LDR for over 5 years and we are still together (almost 11 years now). I really believe the LDR years helped us grow as a couple. We had to work a lot on our communication skills, on the ability to open to the other person but also to understand them. That's why it is important to share even the most mundane life details with your partner, because that way you learn how to have the other person present without having them physically with you.

Watched you guys around 19 now 22 in a long distance relationship with a girl from Portugal. Never would I have thought I would be in this position but it’s certainly a blessing!
this was so nice to watch and so nice to hear. i'm in an ldr and that's not going to change for a couple more years because of my gf's uni commitments and my family/work commitments, but it's still good. i love her more than i ever thought i could love anyone and every hardship is honestly so worth it. i truly believe we can make it, so can anyone in an ldr. love triumphs it all, tbh. thank you for this video.

I totally agree that long distance gives you a chance to get to know someone on a deeper level! I think it makes the connection all encompassing when you get to add in the physical part-It’s even better because you know you already love them for their soul. I really like how you‘re talking about positives, too! I always try to find positives even if it’s hard sometimes :) I’m almost 20 but in a LDR with my girlfriend for almost two years now (Germany-France) from which I spent 9 months in the US. There were super hard times but we’ve known each other for 5 years before being a couple and were really close friends so I think that really helped as we already had a lot of trust to build on. And also just knowing that whatever happens and however long it’s going to be until the next time we see each other there is just no alternative for either of us because we love each other so much 🙈 I’m so happy for you guys that you finally managed to move together, I am really looking forward to the day we will, too.
I was in a relationship for 3 years, after the second year I moved and we where in a long distance (US/MX) relationship, and you’re right it’s all about trust. Sadly it didn’t last that long but I know that there are some that do last and I’m happy for you guys 🥰

This video warms my heart! I wholeheartedly believe that any relationship, ldr or not, can truly stand the test of time if the love and communication and effort is there. Although my ldr failed miserably due to lack of communication and other things, I believe that love can alone prevail any distance. Communication, effort, reciprocation can all strengthen an already strong bond and love. My heart is still so soft and tender for all those in love. It's so happy to see you together for more than two years. Since it's not convenient for Chinese to use CZcams, I often watch your videos from some youtubers' sharings in other websites. This is completely true! I've been with my girlfriend for one year and a half and we've liked each other for more than two years; she's from Spain and Im from Argentina. We see each other every six months for one/two months and those are, definitely, the best months of every year.
Just started long distance with my girlfriend (she's German, I'm in the US!) and wow it can be tough but you guys give me so much hope
I was in a 3-year LDR. She broke up with me 5 days before a major exam. I promised to get back to Europe and when I am already here, that's when she realized she's tired of LDR.
I can recall our moments back then when we call each other and speak for hours. No dull moment and very happily in-love. Now, when she calls there's more idle time than talking. We still communicate but not as much as before.
I still like her and hasn't moved on completely since then. But I wish to be happily in love again and be loved back as well. I would love to surprise my partner by picking her up after work. Eat out during our days off. Cuddle while watching movies at home. Cook and eat with her. Sleep and wake up beside her.

I just met up with someone here recently last year July 2019 I was helping her go through a hard time with her sick aunt and here recently in December her aunt passed away of cancer and then shortly after that on New Year’s Eve I lost my best friend 11 years so me and her have both been helping each other go through hard times this will make our relationship more stronger I’ve been There for her and she’s been there for me so we’re supporting each other in this very hard time

I'm also Canadian and in a LDR with my Polish girlfriend. We've been together for 10 months, and if all goes as planned, I will be taking a flight from Toronto to go live with her in Poland. I'm so ready to start the next chapter of our relationship. I agree that having all these months spent on developing our relationship long distance has built us a strong foundation, and when we can finally touch eachother, our love will be significantly enhanced and strong. I'm getting so impatient. It's crazy how expensive a one-way flight from Ontario to Poland is! It's gonna be at least $1000. It's been difficult trying to fit everything I need or want to bring into my luggage, and it's expensive to add more. I've never flown before and have a flying phobia, therefore, I'm so excited to meet her face-to-face, yet I'm also terrified! Poland looks like such a beautiful country. I've been trying to learn some Polish, but omg it's a difficult language for us westerners! I am in LDR... i keep trying our relationship works. But just last year my partner who now in Canada stop talking to me. It was the saddest part since i cant talk or see her because she block me from social media to her telephone number...we dont have any fight before she stop talking to me... Germany is a country of rules. Make sure that Alexis follows them. She needs to get registered, find a job or study, and get a German residence permit. Otherwise you'll find yourself in a terrible situation.
