I’m not the only one who saw the friendly fire incident, right?
Definitely killed those people.
Horrible AI and optimization. If they have that on their demo you know it will be a real problem in the game. Junk. Absolute junk.
@@-Crasher. or... it means you have to actually look out where your ships are and what they do, unlike rookie rts games where friendly fire barely exists at all
What the hell’s wrong with the optimization? Game looks awesome! If you’re looking for hyper fast arcade gameplay look elsewhere. This is perfect.
@@-Crasher. looks like a deliberate design decision to me.
This reminds me of the ship battles on The Expanse, especially with how those point defense cannons take out torpedoes.
Same here. And the part that ships have captains and crew, something that is almost universally overlooked by space tactics / strategy games for some unfathomable reason.
Anyone interested in this game should also check out the Homeworld trilogy. Third game comes out his year.
@@suddenimpulse030 Next year, another delay.
Also Nebulous: Fleet Command
BELTALOWDA!
The effects, the looks, the background combat chatter... FLAWLESS.
Can't wait to try this game out!
you should see nebulos fleet command
Seconded, Nebulous is amazing.
Well that's not true.
@@swesleyc7 incorrect.
This game is a prime example of a visual concept well done. It stays away from irrelevant clutter of details that would just kill every PC for no visual gain whatsoever like so many AAA titles do. Yet because the visuals are thought through they look epic, clean and stylish. Huge fan of that
Just love the way the ice breaks away when the turrets activate!!
Exactly Jabroni!
OMG 250 likes 😂😂
But it falls backwards like there’s air resistance lol it should keep moving forward and outwards
@@osomorose there shouldn’t be ice to begin with. It’s not like space is damp and prone to condensation on a hull. The ISS isn’t covered in ice. And Ice exposed to the vacuum would sublimate very easily (that’s why comet have their tails)
Ice on a space hull would be an extremely rare occurrence
@@osomorose Perhaps the ship was accelerating at the time and cut its drive shortly after thus the ice would be travelling slower than the ship and break away
The battle chatter and map in general are giving me huge Homeworld vibes as others have said.
Yeah, not to mention the sensor sound which might be a tad too close :D
Agree, and Im all in for more Homeworld type of games... we dont have many rts games
@@DarkDemonXRyea with those that are science fiction of course
@@DarkDemonXRtheirs a possibility the game might get multi-player if it does the developer could be into something amazing
@DarkDemonXR when this game releases it could change everything
Anyone else notice all the noise is basically the sounds only from within the ships? Like, there isn't any typical movie or video game 'sounds in space' but rather what seems to be the literal echos from within the non-vacuum of the ships hulls as they blow apart! Awesome attention to detail
This was very cool to see. Not to mention how the friendly ships hit each other because of bad positioning, showing that your movement matters and it won't just be whoever has the most ships wins automatically.
but friendly fire like that should never happen in reality as these ships and weapons are computer controlled mostly for accuracy and proper firing solutions. Hell right now irl if you moved a us destroyer infront of another uis warship about to fire the fire control system would warn you against firing as the IFF= identify friend or foe has detected a friendly in the line of fire. Natrually you wouldnt fire and the weapons that are automated entirely like cwis systems will NOT fire so your own crew shooting at your own ships would get you removed from cic instantly
@@TAKIZAWAYAMASHITA They fired because the friendly ship was already destroyed. You can see the escape pods ejecting and the engine going out when the first ship is shooting the rockets over it
@@AvantelWulf whats the point of firing? though even if your allied ship is going down. why help it? plus your shots were wasted and didnt hit the enemy you could have waited a few extra seconds and made those shots count on your target
@@TAKIZAWAYAMASHITA This is a 2D spacecraft combat game, why are you looking for realism?
@@Gekk-rx7nvit's 3D actually
the fact they included a boatswain’s call over the 1MC is brilliant
It really was an awesome touch. The Navy folks will appreciate it.
Basically, this is The Expanse game we actually need. It's amazing. Straight in my exquisite arts playlist.
NEBULOUS: Fleet Command Might be something that you would want to look into if you wanted to scratch that itch right away.
@@DeltagodAndFriends Nebulous is nothing like The Expanse. It's much more a WW2 combat simulator with sci-fi weapons and an awful UI.
@@GordonSeal I'd hardly call it a WW2 combat game and its much closer in scope and combat feel to the expanse than Falling Frontier. And the tech in Nebulous is much more grounded than most sci-fi combat games
@@DeltagodAndFriends That game look great too. I'm not a fan of their ship design though
@@949surferdude Understandable, it is a bit blocky. Though the steam workshop has some more interesting looking player created factions in it which is a bonus
This is like watching the space battles in The Expanse. Love it.
For now, Search for "NEBULOUS: Fleet Command"!
The comms chatter, the ship whistle and the thruster burn to change direction - perfect!
There 100% needs to be an Expanse shipset mod for this game, That flip and burn is just asking for it.
Sadly, that's just a cinematic for the trailer I'm pretty sure.
Still. The weapons mechanics are basically right out of the expanse. This game is perfect for it.
@@WuSEification Oh, 100%. First mod is probably either gonna be Expanse, Halo with UNSC vs Insurrectionists, or Star Wars. Star Trek only if/when they manage to figure out how to make Phasers work with this system since those are hitscan and kinda need shields while this is all physics weapons and no shields.
this gives me the Expanse/Space Battleship Yamato vibes
Anyone interested in this game should also check out the Homeworld trilogy. Third game comes out his year.
This looks like the Holy Grail for Sci-RTS. Can't wait to play it.
My heart belongs to Homeworld, but a fella can look cant he?
Hahaha yes brother you can look! But Homeworld will always find out. It always find out.
If the Expanse had a love child with Nexus: The Jupiter Incident it would probably look like this. Can't wait for the release
Damn, another guy who remembers Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. Love that game, although it is incredibly difficult (for me).
Nexus was amazing to play at the time, loved it
That 2 hits to the bare side of friendly...that's court-martial...
Looked like the enemy ship had a high tech gun, cause it was pretty much going tight through either of the ships, then when it got that rear shot on the one that got destroyed, it probably did some much damage cause it went right up the tail pipe and through most of the ship
Looked like a railgun.
That's the railgun for you. If you look carefully at the opposite side of the ship when the railgun punches through, you can see a brief flare of decompression. :D
Could be a lucky hit on the fusion powerplant 💥
Absolutely spot on.
It's like a cross between Empire at War, Flotilla, Gratuitous Space Battles and Sins of a Solar Empire and a light smattering possibly of FTL.
Truly it means that this game gets it just right
Looks inspired by the Expanse as well
You totally missed Homeworld in those comparisons.
@@Prockski yeah that soundefx when activating the "Time Slowing Tactical Mode" definitely has a strong Homeworld vibe

Homeworld would be so proud of this.
That zoom out at the end! WOW! Fidelity was amazing! Brilliant all around!
That railgun shot passing through the ship got me feeling all kinds of things
can we take a moment to appreciate the soundtrack for this game?..
Scott Buckley is working wonders! 👏
Love how the ship debris stays around after the ship has been destroyed.
You can salvage the debris for resources and rescue your crew in escape pods. Or capture your enemy's crew in theirs~
Was already looking forward to this, this gameplay footage only increases my appetite. The sound design in particular *chef's kiss*
This looks to be absolutely amazing, and very developed for an early access title!
It's not an early access title. it's not even available to purchase yet.

Cool how this fits perfectly with the Erebus mining ship from the last trailer, even the radio chatter mentions about the Caligula and the Richmond from the last trailer.
This truly looks like it might as well be called "The Expanse: Fleet Battles" and I'm 1000% in.
For now, search for "NEBULOUS: Fleet Command"!
This would be great for Mass Effect space battles
It's been confirmed that mod support will exist so that should very much be possible. There's even a star system customization feature to create your own scenarios so we won't be stuck with just Sol.
I'm so happy our game is getting a great reception ,it was such a joy to work on.

Which part did you work on? So excited for it!
Lol. And what part do you think you've worked on...?
@@deckard4310 Why would they bother to answer when you ask like that? Could have potentially heard from a dev here and you ruined it.

We will be playing this game sometime in the next 7 months. Can't wait.
They said that last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that. Basically this game has been "releasing in 6 months" for 4 years now.
Don't get your hopes up, this game is stuck in development hell and won't release for at least another year or two.
Haven’t heard of this until now but hot damn that was cool.
that enemie ship is made of plot armor
3:27 Houston, we have a problem with friendly fire!
Yes please. I've been keeping my eye on this one and it just keeps looking better. I'm trying to keep my hype in check, but this is just hitting all the right notes for me.
This has been my *single most* anticipated game for like two years, by body is so ready
Hopefully this will be the best thing to play while waiting for Homeworld 3
Super Excited to play this!
Looks stunning visually.
Nebulous fleet command is gonna have some serious competition now for this type of gameplay.
idk - this doesn't look as in-depth
It's not full 3D like Nebulous. Nebulous is a real-time-tactical game fighting over a tiny map. This is real time strategy with full base building and supply lines you need to protect and a proper economy.
Been waiting for this one for awhile
A little sad its not homeworlds full 3d space. but otherwise it is looking absolutely amazing. Looking forward to this one greatly, thanks for all the hard work.
Well, the dev tried for full 3d, but the scale is so big that 95% of the map would be, well, empty space with all the action focused on a tiny slice of it. Not to mention navigating 3d space on a 2d screen isn't the easiest even on tiny maps like Homeworld and Nebulous.
@@5peciesunkn0wn And without 3D space it just feels lame. What's the point of choosing the majesty and depth of space as your setting if mechanically and aesthetically your game only takes place on an invisible flat plane with everything else just being a background
It wasn't hard to manage 3D space in Homeworld 2, if you wanted to move your ship to a different plane you just had to click twice, first for horizontal and second for vertical movement. That was literally 20 years ago and it's sad noone has ever surpassed that
Love the UI. It is so clean and masterfully designed with a great color palette
Background chatter gives it a strong Homeworld vibe.
The zoom out at the end. Perfection.
Extra crispy radio chatter is very kino.
That friendly fire is brutal to watch.
The radio chatter hits just right
How do you miss a target that is essentially stationary? With a computer that targets and tracks the enemy?
Can't wait for this to come out .
effects look gorgeous!😊
wow there must be plenty of air in space for me to hear those ships
Been waiting for 2 years !!!
So pumped to play this.
Woah. Nexus Jupiter Incident was one of my favorite games ever. Looking forward!
Pretty cool. Looking forward to this.
cant wait to see what the battle looks like with 10+ ships fighting
man looks amazing guys cant wait
Cant wait to play!
Wow they improve alot, this feel exactly like the expanse!
The Caligula dealing killing blows to its sister ship Richmond is a twist I'm not expecting.
What with the accuracy of the gauss guns, why at such distances half of the shots miss?
That Friendly Fire at 3:27 ... lol
2:50 - this sound almost exactly like the "tactical grid overlay zoom" sound from Homeworld 1.
Also looked like the enemy ship was punching well above its class, those blue bolts i'm assuming are MAC rounds are punching straight through them .
Anyone know if it's 2D plane for battle navigation or 3D also? Can't quite tell during the movement orders segments.
Related: ship rotation a thing? Or just one armor/hull, no fixed broadside cannon, so not relevant?
2D
The game is, to quote the dev,
“fully physicalised”, which means that systems like destroying internal ammo load/fuel tanks, breaking through certain parts of the hull and ricocheting shots are already there
2D plane, but with the right modules, you can 'sink' into gas clouds and stuff and hide your presence (but also limiting your own vision).
Not too sure about like, explicit 'oh that armor panel is now destroyed' levels of it, but there's at least firing arcs for the guns and different internal systems placed in different spots that, if damaged/destroyed, remove the ability for that thing to be used.
Are those escape pods that start pouring out of the Richmond at 3:20? Love that detail if so.
Yes they are. Crew in escape pods can be rescued or captured for information too
What the holy fxxx !!! PDC's, Friendly fire, battle comms and railguns hammering trough the hull across decks?! Take my Money!!!
few salvos directly hit their own ship, and explodes nice details with realism
I'm super hyped and this is the only game I've been waiting for.
Reminds me a lot of the ill-fated Imperium Galactica 3 demo from a decade ago. I'm 100% buying this!
Come out already! You are killing us.
I'm not saying it needs to be literal, but the range of engagement seems really small.
It's small for a reason. Dev wanted more WWII style battles so lore reason is ECM makes hitting at 'normal' space ranges nigh impossible, hence needing to get quite a bit closer than you'd think.
Depending on ship class and your choices you can have longer range fights with the VLS at the cost of more time-to-kill and the possibility to run out of ammo
These destroyers are suited for both close and long range combat, depending on what weapon systems you put on them
We miss the little escape pods leaving the ship, it should be amazing!!!
you know you're in space when you don't need to turn 180 heading. You just flip over to that direction.
When is this expected to release
The Expanse(Serie) + Space Battleship Yamato(Anime) = Falling Frontier
Awesome! Just hope modern rts games have 3rd/fps control as a feature.
That friendly fire though
Looks like Steel Ocean and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 had a baby, awesome
