I'm honestly amazed that Thunderblight passed the "Gerudo end-of-dungeon boss with a batshit difficult 2nd phase" torch onto Queen Gibdo.
Am I seriously the only one who found Thunderblight Ganon much easier compared to the others😂
@@cameronheaton5351yes
I really had to be patient with her during the second phase, I was just running around until riju was recharged but there were around 20 gibdos on my tail and she was attacking me too. I thought it was easier than thunderblight though.
Yeah I had little trouble with Thunderblight, versus this thing. It cleaved my HP super fast.
@@TirelessFrog_formerly_CoolFrog Thats why you attach an eletric lizalfos horn to your spear😁
Everyone is loving the Colgera theme -- and justifiably so -- but this theme absolutely slaps too. Great backdrop to a really fun (and stressful) boss fight. It really reflects the chaos of constantly getting swarmed in the second phase of the fight.
Agreed
Nothing is more satisfying then landing rijus lightning right onto the queen gibdo and striking it as the music intensifies
Honestly, I love the Colgera theme for the references, but in overall composition and instrument choice, Queen Gibdo sweeps
This fight was hectic as all hell and I loved it especially since I had all the other saves besides the 5th one witch is obvious makeing for a hectic fight especially since I was shooting Element shit everywhere
Mucktorock theme and this one are the best ones
out of all the fights, i absolutely had the most trouble with this one, but man was it so sick
I gave up on her, she was kicking my ass too much, so I left to do other quests/temples and am gonna come back to this one lol
@@PigmyRhino if you did death mountain and have the fire sage, his ability really helps. I didn’t have it so I struggled lol
@@super_dude00 I didn’t even use it I keep him dismissed most of the time lol
this was the first temple boss i did and I was losing my mind
When queen gibdo hit you with that devious ass walk tho
I love how this game portrays Gibdos. Making them skeletal moth creatures was fantastic. Especially since it doesn't click right away when you're just wandering through the sand shroud being harassed by the slowly-shambling variety and think they're just undead again, only to find the crawling ones and ESPECIALLY moth gibdos. And it all comes to a head with the Queen, which easily looks the most insectoid of the lot. Really breathes life into what used to be sinple mummies.
Also the fight itself was great, chaotic as all hell when the hives open unless you have a sapphire rod to freeze them with, and overall fun. Also way harder in the initial fight than the other three, it was actually doing heavy damage while the others didn't. Might have scaled up to it's rematch strength though from how long it took me to do the Lightning Temple since the depths rematches weren't any tougher.
Also the correlation between moths and light made this temple boss really appropriate
I was like "why do these mummies have moth wings..?"
And then when I saw the Queen it was just oh shit that's epic.
I really like the reimagining of them.
When I first saw them I thought they were Redeads... then I learned they were Gibdos and I was disappointed... I got over that quick though I really like how they gave new life to an old Zelda enemy.
I realized they were more bug-like when they called the mushroom things "Gibdo Hives," even before seeing the flying ones and the queen lol. :P
I know they're moths but they're giving antlion vibes.
But at the same time you find Gibdos in sarcophagi as well as in the underground tomb in the depth which does imply some link to the dead 🤔. One note about the underground tomb also implies that they're the corpses of traitors as well.
Maybe they're both insectoid and undead? Like corpses being either taken over or mutated into Gibdos?
Given they're associated with the Gerudo, it could be those that refused to follow Ganondorf as the Demon King and were cursed by him for it, but that's just me extrapolating without confirmation
This boss was really smart, and because of that it was really really hard
This was the only boss that seemed like it actively knew how to avoid the lightning

I GOT HER, THOUGH
After dying 3 times, it was time to use the keese eyes. 100% Accuracy Thunder.
@Telos i never even thought of that during the heat of battle lol
Personally I just threw dazzlefruits at her, she might be able to dodge with her body but she isn't smart enough to close her eyes.
@@chemi169I don't think she even has eyelids

*BULLET TIME*
i love how this boss actually kind of strafed and actively tried to avoid arrows, that on top of the music and the setting made this boss by far the best for me. I’m glad i did this one last, it felt like the strongest of the 4!
I agree, both BotW and TotK kind of direct the player towards the other stories, as if they want you to do the Gerudo one last. It makes total sense that the hardest boss in both games is the Gerudo one.
@@paradoxxis8612 If you only look at the enemies it looks like they wanted you to do this order: Tulin>Riju>Yunobo>Sidon.
@@paradoxxis8612 Gerudo Desert is also arguably the hardest area to traverse with that sand shroud.
@@raphezar2049 the area is much harder to get through without the wind sage’s power. At the very least, you gotta go to Rito village first
@@nopressure6986 I did the desert story first and didn’t have the wind Sage. It was tricky but you get a feel for the layout of things pretty easily I think.
Love how each boss had a design and theme inspired on different zelda games, as Marbled Gohma is OT, Mudtorok screams MM, same as Colgera is a love letter to WW, and this for me is TP and SS all over, and each is perfect, an amazing job!
I had this same theory but wasn’t sure of myself because I’ve only played BotW and TotK
And the seized construct reminds me of koloktos (I think that's its name?) from skyward sword, which is pretty cool.
GOHMA'S IN THE GAME??? DOES IT LOOK THE SAME??
@@popsicIes it doesn’t look too similar apart from having the big eye weakspot and being generally bug-like. It’s probably the most unique variant of gohma we’ve gotten except for maybe the WW one.
can you explain the abbreviations for me? I'm really fucking stupid 😭
In a sense, both Queen Gibdo and Mucktorok are the same kind of boss in that you have to play cat and mouse with them when trying to find the opening to attack. Difference was unlike Mucktorok being comical and goofy, Queen Gibdo would punish you if you didnt move fast enough whether it was kicking up the sand twisters or sending the waves of Gibdo after you. She isn't stunned for that long either before she starts moving again. Seemed very aware of what you were trying to do too and actively tried avoiding your attacks. First Zelda boss in a while where I had some difficulty and burned through even a few fairies before I beat her. Fitting that I ended up saving her for the last of the Temple bosses because she was definitely the hardest one of them all!
look up lore accurate link vs gibdo queen
When I found queen gibdo in the depths, I tried to bait the nearby lynel to come over and shoot it with a muddle bud to make it fight for me
The lynel made it there, I muddled it, and then this bop started and the lynel was like “aight imma head out” and teleported back to its home
so I had to fight queen gibdo like a normal person 😫
When the King of Beasts avoids dealing with the Queen of Bugs.
Same… I didn’t even want them to fight each other, I wanted to fight both of them at once.
@@ASquared544 …Bro, Do you have a deathwish or something? 💀
I'm glad that the boss this time around isn't as stress-inducing due to its sheer speed and strength (Thunderblight can kiss my ass), but what it does do is terrify you and stress you out by having you be swarmed. the crawling gibdos freaked me tf out.
I was so used to the slow gibdo, so seeing one crawling towards me at full speed was not pleasant.
Same
And the size! That charge attack was the bane of my playthrough!
bro i was screaming my ass off running tf away from the gibdos swarm in the second phase
the gibdos in the second phase aren't even that bad, but *WHY THE FUCK DO THEY HAVE TO CRAWL TOWARDS YOU*
When I first saw them go on all 4s and sprint at me Mach 3 I was like “OH HELL NAH, GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME BEFORE I BLOWTORCH YOU WITH MINERU!” Absolute nightmare fuel
This boss was so fun to me because it was so chaotic and all the previous sages were finally useful in a boss fight, unlike the rest of bosses that made their not rival-sages feel like they were there for moral support. Sidon, Yunobo and Riju helped you clear the Gibdos while Tulin pushed them away to give you space. It truly felt like a teamfight between Link and the sages against Queen Gibdo and her swarm.
Yeah I did the fight first before any of the other temples, so it really felt like a fight to the death.
(It was actually pretty easy though because I had food and elemental weapons. But compared to the other bosses I realized just how hard she was)
@@fantasan8540Same, I blindly went straight to Gerudo desert/town and then to this dungeon on 5-6 hearts 🫠 the whole thing was an experience lmao
God this boss fight was so memorable. The gibdo swarms coming out and suddenly crawling towards me at rapid speed when they had never done so before had me actually audibly screaming from how unexpected and downright terrifying it was. The game inducing panic right as it forces you to multitask throughout this fight is so delightfully evil.
I can imagine Link and Riju hunkering down in one of the columns of light, with Link using a Mirror Shield to cripple the Gibdos, and Riju saying, “They just keep pouring out of the hives! If we stay on the defensive, this’ll go on forever!”
Colgera definitely has a great theme, especially with that sweeping final phase variation, but THIS is the best boss theme in the game for me.
Based, big G (all 4 phases) is a close 2nd for me
@@coconut_tv0564all of the Big G’s themes are absolutely stellar, I agree
100% agree, favourite boss in the game.
To anyone who has played Elden Ring, do you remember those albinauric enemies with bags over their heads that crawled on their hands and knees at you at an unsettling speed? Do you remember how your fight-or-flight kicked in the first time? This fight is gonna trigger a flashback.
When phase 2 started I was comfortable methodically picking off gibdos with shock fruit arrows and was not prepared to see a pair of the things scrambling at me at the speed of a full sprint.
"that first fight outside was pretty easy, I get this"
one dungeon later:
*GAME OVER*
*Continue?*
*Return to Menu?*
Me: “Hmmm? I wonder why I don’t see any Redeads around?”
Redeads: *“Yeah, same…”*
Me: 👀
Seeing pne of the gibdo running toward you when queen gibdo is stunned is terrifying first time i was like
HOW THE FUCK THAY CAN RUN THOSE HAHEHK
this boss fight was my last fight and the hardest one so far, and i loved it. i felt real panic when the gibdo hives opened up and i had to destroy them while avoiding crawling gibdos and the queen herself, only getting a moment to rest in the light
Damn those timpani's are on fire, that final part was really nice to hear for a player myself
FR, honestly this also goes for the percussion in all the songs in this game
fr the wood claps and the marimba are fire
This boss is great, probably the best of the 4. She's always active dodging your lightning and putting down the tornados and then flying away when you hit her with lightning. Then the second phase comes in and you have to fight both Queen Gibdo AND the gibdos apawning out from the hives. This is not just one of my favorite boss fights in the game, but also a top pick for Nintendo Games. AND it has a great theme to go with it, but Colgera's theme is better still.
I barely got her down to where she collapsed, just spamming Riju and praying that she wouldn't get caught in those stupid whirlwinds. It got the job done, but I barely had any arrows afterwards, might have even ran out just as she collapsed the second time.
Ikr? Colgera was the most epic and cinematic but you can finish that battle in 1 minute just spamming arrows, no strategy whatsoever
@@Onavi1 yeah Colgera was super cinematic especially if you dived but it was a bit more lacking in the gameplay aspect. still a great fight though
God I am so glad they brought back the advantageous themes from TP and SS, all of them have their own versions, and its such a huge joy to charge in and whack them while they’re down to some kickass swelling music.
botw had them too but only for molgera
@@julien827 Molduga*
2:57 slaps hard but doesn't last long sadly.
Wait she had bosses that looked like her from those games which bosses were they
The bits of the Spirit Temple music from OoT in this are great. That was my favorite dungeon from that game
Queen Gibdo is probably the single smartest boss in the game (I haven’t fought Ganondorf yet however) for the fact she actively dodges. I find a problem in videogames that the biggest and coolest of bosses, like Colgera and Marbled Gohma (Mucktorok is the silly little exception) are often actually underwhelming in gameplay for how slow and easy to hit they are. Colgera was a cinch, though fun, and Marbled Gohma was slightly harder, but still easy to take out its legs or shoot its eye. Queen Gibdo remedies this exact issue, by being ABSURDLY fast. I spent most of the fight just trying to even catch up to her after making her vulnerable. I couldn’t even aim arrows fast enough- Combine that with her absurd tornado attack, the chaos of all the sages fighting with you, and the swarm of Gibdo’s? The other giants felt cool, but a little underwhelming in gameplay. The Queen felt TRULY harrowing, and had me just barely get by. Excellent boss, Kingdom Hearts should be taking notes.
I don't know if the Sand Boots are even in this game but I felt like I needed them just to dodge half the stuff she throws out.
@@SwordfishJouster they are! they're in the secret store behind Fashion Passion (you'll need to find a secret passage underground via waterfall to ascend upward into the store though)

The moment when i destroyed a Gibdo hive during the Queen Gibdo rematch and the light beam didnt appear sent me into a panic. Literally turned that battle into a zombie nightmare for me
I have now noticed the theme of Desert bosses in Zelda games being absolutely CRACKED Hard. Like aside from maybe the fire bosses sometimes it's always the desert boss that isnfor no reason really hard by comparison to the others.
Fun fact: Bomb Flowers can be used instead of Riju’s Lightning to destroy Gibdo Hives.
WHAT
Best boss fight among the temples. Very chaotic and fun
Colgera wasy favorite for the nostalgia, but i liked queen gibdo too, mainly because it actually proved challenging to me. She actually tried to dodge your attacks. Also the extra layer of chaos from the gibdos ties into the music really well.
Man, this boss was amazing. Glad you get to rematch it in the Depth, too...but I hope the inevitable future DLC lets you fight harder forms of the bosses.
😂 We do NOT need a harder time fighting this thing.
Maybe add an extra dungeon like in BotW? that would be cool, Maz Koshia was the best boss in that game lol
I wanna rematch the seized construct, moragia, and sludge like
@@jockson7574
Seized construct was phenomenal and Idfk why you can’t rematch it I the base game
Moragia is a 30 second tutorial for yunobos ability so I doubt it will return. Music and fight is still very good for what it is
Sludge like can not only kiss my ass (along with the entire zora questline), but the fight was unfun. It did drop a banger ost so that’s nice at least
Check the latest news about the dlc content of totk 💀
This is one of the best boss themes ive heard, this game's soundtrack is a masterpiece, in some parts it reminds me of a Mario Galaxy boss theme
For me, the whole gerudo quest was the best
Queen Gibdo is undoubtedly the toughest of the 4
Just imagine if the room in the second phase was fully covered in a sand shroud XDD
Holy time signature
Is there an actually fun time signature on this?!
Queen Gibdo. Easily the hardest boss out of the four, which makes sense because Lightning Temple is supposed to be the last of the four sages that you do.
My dumbass did Lightning Temple first. Granted it was after getting 20 hearts and max stamina but still a dumb move. Just wanted to do the region order in reverse from what I did in BotW.
i did the Water Temple first. so my expectations were set at the 'silly octorok boss fight' and 'low gravity fun jumpy time' bars. god the Lightning Temple (which i did second for some reason) was a definite subversion of those expectations
I did her third and struggled so hard
It's supposed to be last? I did it second 😅. She was challenging but nothing too bad. The temple required some brain power tho
Did it first lmao
The entire theme is one big mindfuck from a musical perspective lmao
I wonder how Riju fought the thing alone the second time around. She can't accurately channel her lightning without Link's arrows and the swarms of Gibdos Queen Gibdo likely summoned would probably outnumber and overwhelm Riju. The other sages could have helped, but they were most likely focused on their own bosses.
"Sir, we're surrounded! What do we do?"
"Good - We can shoot in every direction now."
Queen Gibdo's a big enough target. With the practice she got working alongside Link, I'm sure she could zap a fly.
Ye. Water and fire everywhere from the other sages have a high chance to clip her.
Between Queen Gibdo's size and the sheer number of Gibdos, I think she'd be perfectly capable of reliably hitting *something.* Tulin and Mineru wouldn't have too much trouble with their respective boss even without Link(In fact, Tulin would probably have an easier time with Colgera than Link did, since he can fly freely to easily snipe the weak spots from the underside), and both have access to projectiles that could help her aim. She just needs to hold it off until the other sages start to win, same as Yunobo since he also struggles aiming.
Iirc the secret stones help people enhance and direct their powers - its explicitly stated they don't give mastery but I assume it will let her Palpatine the gibdos
I’m not even lying when I say this, this gotta be one of the best Zelda bosses, it is so batshit insane
Did Desert Phenomena last, and boy was the whole experience just epic. Gerudo town, the Lightning Temple and Queen motherfucking Gibdo!
This was my favorite boss in the game because it was genuinely a challenge, yet wasn't too difficult.
Some bits of this would fit in a Pokémon game very well. Haven’t got to this boss yet, but digging it
The thing I liked about Queen Gibdo is that she takes her job seriously unlike the other 4. They would either sit and wait for Link to come in or send mini bosses to take him down. But damn she’s a true boss.
I was dissapointed at first to see gibdos lacked of their characteristic cry but after the siege of gerudo town and this boss fight im glad they removed. It would've been a hell of battle
Gibdo usually never acted like a Redead only in MM most other Zelda game Gibdo were very tanky undead that didn't get knockback when hit.
She was a pain in the Boss rush
In the what.
@Tavvens Tavern So if you don't beat all the Temples, before you can fight Ganondorf, you have to fight all the bosses of the Temples you didn't do in a row. I only had 2 done so I had 4 bosses to fight before I could fight Ganondorf.
@@HylianJayAppears I feel like this game puts a lot less emphasis on the fact that you can challenge the final boss at any time, since it didn't even occur to me this time lol
@@HylianJayAppears Shouldn't it be 3? Or are you counting the army too?
@@raphezar2049 I believe they are, which to be fair, can be considered a boss since Skyward Sword considered the Hoarde Battle a boss (As insinuated in the Lightning Dragon boss rush)
Call me a crazy contrarian, but this theme just does it for me in a way the Colgera theme doesn't
The fact that they made the Gibdos bugs made from human corpses is fucking HORRIFYING!
only thing missing from this banger is me going “shit shit SHIT SHIT SHIT” from running away from queen gibdo and her spawn
It seems like a common theme for TotK temple and bosses music to contain references to Majora's Mask, OoT, Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. It makes sense if you know how popular Young Link and Toon Link are.
For an incredibly slow way to beat her from the 2nd half of the fight, I just used a shield with a mirror fused to it to reflect the light straight onto her, dealing damage over time. It's boring, but the only thing you have to dodge are the tornadoes provided you destroyed the other hives beforehand. You still have to knock her to the ground first, but she won't have the time to fly back up.
I know this is months after the game released, but for those having trouble with phase 2:
Have Riju strike the Hives as the Gibdos fall out. When you do, light streams in from above, and the gibdos get hurt if they try and chase you into the light. That means you're invulnerable from the gibdos, making your only real enemy the main boss again.
Now the only problem you have is ACTUALLY SEEING THE BOSS
Personal Opinion:
Queen Gibdo, best boss
Colgera, best music (both songs are fantastic though)
Essentially they took ReDeads and Mothulas and fused them together. Also, they incorporated Gerudo Town's theme into this, it's just sped up and in a couple different keys
I find it comedic that no-one thought to use Keese Eyeballs on their arrows to hit the Queen whilst she was flying.
Yeah if youre a coward
(I did but i very very quickly ran out)
I love that this is the Boss that got the famous Chanting. *Yesss!*
Sort of by-the-numbers Egyptian theme for the most-part with some Great sequences, but it's Ok overall and the chanting saves it.
