Stylized 3D Game Model Complete Beginners Guide
Roofs are as basic as buildings go, so I made this tutorial to make sure you know exactly how to excel at this basic building skill.
In this roof tutorial, you will learn how to quickly and easily create a stylized roof in under 15 minutes. Not only will you learn how to quickly UV unwrap it, but you will also learn how to make the roof tileable so that no matter the size of your roof, this will do the job.
Blender 2.8 is the perfect software to create and showcase game assets.
If you found my tutorials useful checkout my full courses with over 200,000 students now learning everything to do with Blender 2.9 and below.

Instead of "shift d" you can press "alt d". It will do the same but tiles will have same object ID and still would be scaleable.Great tut tho (:
I love the tutorial! Very nice workflow.
Happy to hear that! Hope you enjoy some of my newer videos too :)
i was just looking for a tutorial like this thanks you are the best broo .

Glad to have helped you Steve :)
Great.
No problem we do now have a geometry node to do all this now as well - czcams.com/video/TMqRT2i-ngI/video.html
Very useful tutorial. Have a nice day bro
Thanks, you too! Glad to have helped in some way :)
THANKS WELL ..... GREAT
You're welcome!
Any ideas about how to use something like this then texture them somewhat easily so they aren't just the same texture over and over?
Hi Lane
Yes, you can unwrap the very first. Then create the roof finally go to UV'S and pack islands. Kind regards Neil, 3D Tudor.
Thanks
Happy you liked the tutorial Antonio :)
Thanks for the tutorial! Wouldn't it be easier to use an array modifier or an partical emitting material, though?
ive been trying to make a roof using a particle emitter for awhile now and though it works for making straight same sized tiles it doesnt so much for me when i add in random sized particles (roof shingles)..... not sure if youve successfully done this but if you have please share a solution for me! lol
@@jonruckman1331 It's been a few months for me, but you should look at the seed parameters (or their lifecycle, forgot how the parameter is called). I used that method to create a cliff consisting of different sizes of rocks.
Hopefully I'm able to dive back into Blender in a few weeks.
You can use shift+R to repeat an action fyi
Yes mate, a very useful shortcut, we use that all the time now, thanks for pointing it out ^^
ha, we have the same name
7:14 Dont mind me
Shake it all about :)
Almost 6k tris for this???
Hi flavia it does not have to be no. Take the mesh and use it a s the high poly. Basically retopo this as a relatively flat plain. :) hope this helps Neil 3D Tudor
This is not practical at all. I wish there was an easy way to automate from one object following the shape of the plane, like JARCH, but being able to create your own source element.
You have clearly never done any real roofing lol. Good tutorial nonetheless
Thats why it's called _stylised roof_
