  • Chinese electric vehicles are taking centrestage at this year's Auto China show, which opened in Beijing on 25 April. The nation's EV sector stands out as a green shoot amid an economic downturn. It is not just making waves in the world's largest auto market, but also beyond its borders. Foreign carmakers, too, are taking the opportunity to unveil new offerings for the Chinese market. CNA's Olivia Siong reports from Beijing.

China's EV industry is not booming but dying.
Most 🇨🇳 Chinese EV manufacturers reported loss last year. Many went out of business.
    - There were 500 electric car makers in China in 2019, now less than 100, a drop rate of 50% every year.
By this rate, China will have none left after a few years.

That is concentration. Companies will compete and merge. The demand for EV is still pretty solid in China. The peneration rate of EV is still lower than some of the EU countries.

Batteries in these cars come from the Xinjiang region, where they are produced by:

The remaining number of pure fuel vehicles in China, as of the end of 2023, still reaches 300 million, which is precisely the largest "replacement market" that China is currently shifting towards being replaced by domestically produced electric vehicles. In addition, with the rapid development of the Chinese economy in recent years, people's work and living standards and quality continue to improve, and they have become increasingly prosperous. The dream of buying private cars by individuals or families in various parts of the country is no longer just a dream, but a true freedom. Especially in recent years, many young people have already jumped into the "middle class" in China. The economic ability of this middle class group of men, women, and men is constantly improving, and their purchasing power and consumption power are very strong. They especially love to have their first place in life. They love the current Chinese new energy AI intelligent electric vehicles, especially the Dream Car, For the daily entertainment enjoyment that they have long dreamed of, the affordability of buying a "dream car" for two to three hundred thousand yuan is more than enough. They have all formed a "New Market" for buying a car for the first time. These two are the extremely large new energy electric vehicle sales markets in China today. The current reality proves that it is not "China's overcapacity", but "China's insufficient production capacity" that is the real situation.
Today, with the continuous rise of international oil prices, the cost of driving pure fuel vehicles is high, and consumers who drive fuel vehicles bear a heavy burden of daily driving costs. The price of fuel and gasoline is relatively higher than that of electric vehicles, which are much more expensive. With the trend of banning fuel vehicles in electric vehicles, the gas consumption of fuel vehicles in Europe, America, and Japan is also running out. In addition, the upcoming appearance of ultra long endurance solid-state battery vehicles is the end of fuel vehicles, and the edge of being completely eliminated is not far away ‼
Taking the newly popular new energy pure electric vehicle Xiaomi SU70 as an example, it coincides with the 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in 2024, which is progressing rapidly. The exhibition scale is super huge, unprecedented, and the entire venue is hot. The Xiaomi Beijing Auto Show press conference has just been held, and the Xiaomi SU7 coupe intelligent electric vehicle has a stunning appearance on site, with both the exterior and interior of the car being very stylish and cool; Whether it's easy to drive slowly or at lightning speed, you can enjoy the pleasure of driving. Wherever you go, you attract envious gazes. Now, sales explain everything. Since its launch, it has already sold well, and Tesla has been the first to beat it since its release. We eagerly look forward to the next Xiaomi SUV and other models that follow, and continue to face challenges, climb peaks, and run away from dust ‼👍👍👍
