Thanks for the tour of your beautiful garden, the Laguna rose looks bigger than i thought, its gorgeous, love the colour, you have loads of blooms to come. I saw last year on utube someone who had a standard Leonardo da Vinci and tried for months to get one, in the end I walked into my local B&Q and my eyes popped out to see it there, it's a most astonishing rose, what it lacks in scent it makes up for in heaps by it abundant and beautiful large blooms in clusters, and it's proof in the view of your rose:) My Penelope Lively i found this year have had to give support of a cane wigwam, im wondering if this is the right move , as i know we prune end of winter into a bowl shape for letting the air flow, and i have just restricted that :/my Emma Bridgewater has started to bloom also and im enjoying the colours and scent also. So happy i got her too.
    Enjoy your beautiful blooms:)

Your Emma Bridgewater looks amazing, completely not the colour I expected, compared to the DA website. Mine is arriving today, as well as a Gabriel and another Penelope Lively. I am hoping for some blooms in the boxes.

My perennial blue isn’t doing much so far but it’s a baby ( planted last Autumn) and is a bit in the shade. I am going to cut back a large shrub to give more light. My Penelope lively is a real vigorous bloomer. It more or less bloomed over winter and was still blooming when I pruned end of February. But it is a bit wild looking 😂. I have my Emma Bridgewater right next to Princess Anne and the change in colour is beautiful. Beautiful garden.

The Garden is looking good Lin. I cut LEH back hard last year and it seems to have done some good for this year.
Another purchase today !.....Queen Elizabeth 2nd (Harkness) Sister Rose to Chandos!! Tried to get it last year (that's another story!) but found it today locally.

I was looking at QE2 on the World of Roses site - it looks lovely. The write-up is confusing though, at one point it says "medium fragrance" and then elsewhere "strong sweet rose scent"? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts when she is fully underway.

Hello Lin, my eyes became big with your opening rose, Perennial blue is stunning, is it from Rosen Tantau, a rambler? Emma Bridgewater rose has a beautiful blend of colour, I’m keeping my eyes on her. Thanks for showing us your wonderful collection!😍🌹🌹🌹

Still can’t believe he retired Jubilee Celebration for Emma Bridgewater….Color wise its darker then Jubilee Celebration, which I have twice and is incredible heat and rain resistant and has a good winter hardiness…Austin has retired a lot of DA Seniors Flagships and there are not really any substitutes for them…😢

Your gardens looking lovely there Lin. Your Laguna is doing very well. Mine is shortly gonna be overwhelmed by wild sun flowers but you’ll still see a red break through I hope.
PL I’m hoping is just gearing up. What I’ve learnt so far is if you think disappointment you can often be surprised. I honestly think it likes the warmer weather but we will see. Your new rose it does look nice.

Is PL a flop ? ( no pun intended!)

Penelope is a flop…only one bloom. Last year it did so well. Not what I expected at all.

@@Lin_Greenfinger I wonder if Penelope does not like to be in a pot? I had mine in a big pot (bought bareroot this winter) just so I could see what colour it would be and where to plant it. It also hasn't been very happy, though it set 5 sprays of flowers. Two already opened beautifully and I must say they last forever. Probably 4 days on the bush or more then I cut them and took them inside and they are still there now, 3 days later. So the flowers are long lasting. I have put PL in the ground now, so we'll see what it does later in this season. Hopefully it will live up to it's expectations. Gardener Ben seems to be enamoured with his Penelope, so perhaps she just needs to be in the ground, but I'm no expert.

Interesting, I may plant it in the ground. See how it flowers this summer. I watched Ben’s review. He says his Penelope had 4 flushes 😮… I can’t believe he is talking about the same rose.

I honestly think some of the rose varieties are just delayed this year. Waiting on consistent warmer temps. I have one potted, one in the ground. Both sluggish compared to other Austin’s currently, but starting to move now. I believe come end of July you’ll see good growth and flowering. If I’m wrong I will allow you to come and smack my bottom.wink

@@Lin_Greenfinger My second PL arrived yesterday. The leaves are much greener than the one I had in a pot, it is also quite small in truth, but looks much healthier then the one I already had. They are both in the ground now next to each other, hopefully they will become a nice big bush together. All the best with your roses.
